Cadence Hart can't remember how long he's been in his cage. He can't remember his family. He can't remember a previous life. All he can remember is the small, dark cage where's he been for as long as he can remember. He only sees light a few times a day when the man who keeps him in the cage comes to feed him. Cadence longs to feel the sun again, but he does not wish to be a slave or servant. He wants to be free, but that doesn't seem likely. To keep the man from selling him, Cadence often reacts violently to anyone that comes to buy him. There are many who wish to possess him for his beauty, but they never stay long. A few feral sounding growls from Cadence, and they leave him to his dark prison.

Cadence has a very naive personality. He doesn't realize that there are worse things than being bought. He doesn't truly understand death because he has never been faced with it. He is curious about everything and enjoys new experiences.

Cadence has secret dreams of someone coming to buy him and set him free. His dreams are realized one day when a man comes to buy him. Cadence cannot make the man leave, and he is sold. Now Cadence's fate rests in the fate of his new owner.
