The way I see it, God allowed it to pass as a "church" so people see the reality of what is going on: people outright worshiping sex—and lies. They do not worship YHWH/Jesus. They're like shrine prostitutes. Did people who worship Asherah really worship Asherah, or was it about the sex?
2 Kings 23:7 (NIV)
7 He also tore down the quarters of the male shrine prostitutes that were in the temple of the Lord, the quarters where women did weaving for Asherah.
Paying to go to church and paying per visit along with the added perk of having sex with the "church" goers? Sounds to me that they are sugar-coating prostitution.
Also correct me if I'm wrong but even if you are ok with sharing your spouse it's still adultery in the eyes of the Lord, right?
This is just so wrong... emotion_facepalmemotion_puke How can they even begin to think that this is ok behavior?
