Tera had slipped away from his place again, having hopped out the window after claiming that he was going to get a nap. 'Naps' seemed to be the best way to get some time away from home since his mother never tended to look in on him when he was sleeping because she didn't want to wake him up from his rest. The walk would give him a chance to be on his own as well as look for more magical tomes since he'd gotten distracted last time he'd gone out to do so. He wanted to find more books on healing, but elemental magic as well, and maybe even of the other things his magic teacher had told him about. He wanted to learn all of it and then some!
Stepping inside, not too long after the woman with the strange colored hair. He looked around a moment, looking for the tomes, when he spotted the one behind the counter. Instantly he froze in place as though he were a tasty fish that had been spotted by a snaptrotter. Given that where he lived was on the border of the two countries he supposed that it was always possibly that he was going to run into someone like this. He couldn't be terrified of every Oban out there, not when it was likely that he'd run into them now that things were peaceful and everyone seemed to be traveling about. If he starts something or dares to get too close then Tera should just blast him with some magic... or so said the voice in the back of his head in a somewhat harsh manner. It was a thought he did his best to ignore as he looked around once more.
It was then that his eyes fell upon the woman with the wavy hair, giving her a curious look. She was... different, wasn't she? Not an Oban or a Matori for certain, not even like that Shifter woman he'd met. It made him wonder what tribe she was from as well as where she was from. One last glance at the 'scary' Oban and he started into the shop, doing his best to stay strong as he approached the woman, mostly out of curiosity, while also looking for magical tomes.

Tera was a little surprised when the rather pretty woman addressed him, causing him to stare at her for a moment before he turned to look toward the bandages that she had mentioned. What were the best when traveling from here to Matori? He blinked a couple times, and found himself going over the question. He wasn't really certain himself, not having studied bandages or what ones wer ebetter then the rest. He was about to admit to that when the voice in the back of his head said that the ones with the blue tinge would be best for that. Tera gave them a glance, before he finally motioned to some at them, "Ahhh... these ones, maybe?" He had no idea why, but after a moment he realized that it was because they were the more water resistant sort and given all the water in Matori it made sense to him.
"Oh! I see." He murmured to himself, then nodded, "Water resistant. Matori has a lot of water and has a lot of islands. These are good for keeping that at bay, at least better then some." Phew, good thing that came to him or else he wouldn't know what to say or how to help her.
Giving a smile he said, "So you're going to Matori? It's a really wonderful place." He said, giving a happy sort of smile, "You're pretty close, at least to a border city of Matori. I came from there to check out this sword in fact." There was a part of him that wanted to invite her and her friend to walk there with him... but the voice in his head instantly forbid it! Tera shouldn't just be chatting up strangers in the first place but to travel with them? Too dangerous!

"Huh? Been where before? Matori?" He asked, a curious look on his face if that what was she meant. Maybe? Probably, it was the place that she seemed to show interest in. After a moment he nodded his head, "I live in Matori, or at least in the border town. It's a smaller place, but a comfortable one." A shame that it was so close to Oba, if it wasn't for the fact that it was where Kyruie and Ashta lived he might almost want to move further into Matori just to put distance between himself and Oba. It was a place that he would rather not be... and yet here was, drawn by his desire for more and more tomes to study. If it was easier to get them, he'd do so, if he could get Ashta and/or Kyruie to escort him to another Matori town to get them, he would, but for the time being this was where he had to come.
As the woman spoke up about the sword Tera shifted in place, having a momentary panic attack. Sword, why had he said sword? He must be more flustered then he thought, likely because he'd never really chatted with a woman like her before. Anyone could get flustered and say that they were here looking for the first thing they saw he thought to himself, trying to justify his mix up in words. He glanced toward the sword she was talking about for a moment, nodded, then said, "I thought about becoming a swordsman at one point, but it didn't turn out to be the right path for me." Of course picking up a sword in the first place hadn't exactly been his choice, but at least he'd been able to get out of that mess and back onto the right track once more.
"Oh, yes, no problem! I want to be helpful where I can." Even though he was still trying to get used to talking to people outside of his own family and Kyruie's family. It still felt quite new, but he thought he was getting better. Sort of. Tera looked around a moment and asked, "What else? Umm, well, I guess it depends, what do you plan to do while in Matori?" That would be a good starting point toward helping her he felt. Not that Tera really got around much in Matori himself the voice in the back of his head muttered. Tera wasn't exactly the best for travel advice but still, he wanted to help if at all possible!

Tera nodded his head, giving the woman a bright smile, "Yeah, the name of the village that I am from is called Baun." He explained, glancing for a moment in the direction that he'd come from, then looked back to Winta once more. He wondered if she meant to visit his village or if she would just pass through instead. It was a small place, not a lot to see, so she might very well want to skip by to somewhere more interesting. He'd invite her back home with him for dinner or something if he could, but he doubted very highly that his mother would approve for many reasons. He didn't have to admit to that though, not wanting to bother the one that he'd just met with such details.
As she changed the subject, mentioning how she'd almost gone into a fiend that dealt with weapons as well he found himself both surprised and fascinated to learn that she instead decided to make them instead of wielding them. Tera's eyes went wide for a moment before he said, "Wow, you make weapons? That sounds like a neat way to spend time." He murmured to himself. She didn't want to hurt people, she just made the weapons that let them hurt each other the voice in his head muttered. A comment that Tera chose to ignore, seeing nothing wrong with her choice. It wasn't as though she handed out the weapons and told people to go harm one another with them. She might very well make them for people to defend themselves and their loved ones with!
"Huh? Why I changed by mind?" He asked, looking down at his hands for a moment, before he gave a smile, "There was a temptation to it, to pick up a sword to use that to protect my friend, Kyruie, but I thought that the powers of magic, especially the healing sort would be better for that... though... I guess he doesn't quite need that anymore what with him getting married." Wait... now that he thought about it, what was it exactly that he should be aiming for now? He'd meant to hone his powers so that he could look after Kyruie but with him getting a wife he really wouldn't need Tera's help anymore, would he? Hmm... something to consider when he had a moment alone. At least as alone as he ever was with the rather loud voice in his head always chattering away.
Shaking his head rapidly he decided he shouldn't weigh Winta down with his momentary crisis and found himself thinking on what she'd asked of him, "Hmm... what do I suggest? I... don't know, I guess if I had the choice I would definitely head for the ocean! It would be nice to go there for the day, to soak up the sun, and to enjoy the water. Swimming would be fun I bet! I've also read about there being clams that can be found on the beach that have pearls in them!" How neat would it be to find something like that? Very neat if you asked him! Only so-so if you asked the less enthusiastic voice in his head.

She could spend hours at a time crafting weapons? To the point that she actually forgot to eat and sleep? It was something that had Tera starring at her wide eyes and a slack jaw, "Wow... to be so devoted to something, that's amazing." He murmured, quite in awe of the woman before him. Imagine being so devoted to something that you could actually lose yourself in it for hours on end? It was something that Tera actually envied a little, curious what it might be like to have a job like that. It actually sort of made him want to redouble his efforts as far as his magic was concerned he thought to hismelf, his fin ears giving a little twitch.
"Hm?" He blinked a couple times when Winta commented on having no bedside manner, then set to giggling as she said that she'd likely just tell someone to 'get over it' if she were in the position of a healer. Lifting his hands he covered his mouth, trying to cover his laughter, "Ahh... ahh... sorry, sorry! I don't mean to laugh, it's just... I can almost imagine the look on a patient's face if a healer were to say something liike that. They'd be so surprised!" Surprised and confused, maybe even a little put out, but if the healer was able to take care of their issues could they really complain? Once he got his giggles under control he gave a smile, "When I see him next I will pass on your congratulations." He should really give his own as well, even if he had been caught off guard by the news. He was Kyruie's friend and couldn't really do anything but congratdulate him without looking like a spoiled child that didn't want to share after all.
At the question posed to him Tera gave a rapid shake of his head, "I... wish I coudl. Swim I mean, but I spent most of my life in Oba where there wasn't a lot of water. I never had the chance to learn to swim though I'm sure it must be fun. At least it looks it when I watch others go about it." How he'd love to learn, but it wasn't so easy to do when he so rarely got out of the house. As she started to question him about the clams he said, "Well, from what I read sometimes they end up on the beach, but normally people go diving for them. They scoop them up off the bottom of the sea floor, bring them to the surface, then check if they have anything inside of them."
Tapping a finger to his lips he seemed to fall into deep thought before murmuring, "I... wonder. Maybe... maybe I could use some air based magic to breath under water to make finding clams easier." It was a question he was asking of himself, before he said, "Imagine if it were possible? That would make learning to swim less daunting." He'd have to ask his magic teacher next time he saw her of such a thing were possible and if so how to go about learning such a spell.

Winta noticed that Tera seemed a bit speechless about her ability to devote some much of her time and effort in completing a piece. His praise also made her smile once more. It wasn't often that she was praised for her efforts, in fact it was one of the issues that always came between Zoan and her. Her grandmother didn't understand how devoted she could be--despite doing almost the same exact thing with her own crafting--nor was she particularly impressed in her career choice. Sure, Zoan was getting more accepting of it as time went on and Winta's mind never changed but the old woman definitely didn't want her granddaughter to follow the path of war like her child and her husband. It had killed them after all. Winta tried to be understanding of her grandmother and her old ways. What she refused to give in on was immediately finding someone to settle down with and letting her own desires sit on the sidelines. "Thank you." She responded, still smiling.
Of course when his laughter began at her comment about bedside manner she couldn't help but chuckle right along with him. "Don't worry about it. I'm sure they would be and it's also not what they probably need to hear either." She admitted with a smile and a shrug. As if to say, she knew they deserved someone else to do the job and she was completely okay with admitting to her own ineptitude. Winta nodded at his response to pass on her congratulations, even though she didn't know Kyruie. Tera was definitely a friendly person and she couldn't help but feel a bit envious of the friendship Kyruie had with him. One day, she reminded herself. Maybe once she returned home, or Dexurn would be the friend she had longed for. Winta didn't realize that it was possible to have more than one really good friend and mostly had a hard time wrapping her mind around the idea of just having one--let alone more. For a while she thought Ruelash was going to be her best friend and maybe more then that, but it wasn't meant to be. Winta was mostly over it but at moments she still agonized over the loss. What had happened to him?
"Oh." She responded, feeling a bit guilty about bringing it up. Winta had known when she came to Oba that a lot of bad things happened to the people there and she should have considered that. Not wanting to let it stray to hurt memories and feelings--if Tera did indeed have those, she smiled. "Maybe one day you'll learn! If you learn before I do, you'll have to teach me." She laughed. Considering he had more access to water than she did in terms of proximity it would be more likely he would learn before her. Besides, she'd have to find someone else who knew how to. As Tera began to explain how the clams were found she was once more impressed. What would the bottom of the sea floor look like? How good of a swimmer did you have to be to go that far under the water? What lurked down there? "That sounds amazing." She admitted. "How many clams do you think have pearls inside them?" Winta asked with what sounded like wonder.
Once more Winta was impressed by Tera's knowledge and ingenuity."That would be! I think you'd have a lot more people willing to give swimming a try if they didn't have to worry about drowning." Not to mention she could find pearls for her budding ideas of new weapons.

Winta considered it for a moment before nodding."Maybe." In fact, if Winta was needing to be healed she would want someone to tell her to suck it up or something similar in order to get through whatever it was that hurt her. Granted, Winta was rather tough and didn't like to show how much pain she was in. She couldn't help but wonder what would happen if she was placed in that position. At Tera's remark she couldn't help but smile. "You never know. It might seem hard now, but one day you might need to do it for someone in order to heal them." She shrugged. "Although, I don't know what situation would call for that." She admitted.
Once more she couldn't help but smile at the words and reactions Tera had. It was endearing to see him so excited and contemplative over the idea of swimming or sharing in new experiences. "Well, when you put it that way, it's hard not to be envious and excited to learn!" Imagine what other Taleans would think if she came back trying to teach others how to swim? The whole village would certainly laugh and probably think her a bit crazy. After all, where would they swim when there was no bodies of water? No one would want to travel just to learn how to swim, right?
Again, Winta couldn't help but admire the way Tera thought. Winta could admit that anyone who was passionate about their tasks like she was would have no problem spending hours a day looking for pearls or other ocean goods. How many hours had she spent crafting weapons? Creating new tools? Trying to temper metals to be stronger--some of which failed? Or when she first began to learn, how many times had she failed only to persist."Weapon making is very similar." Winta said softly in contemplation. Maybe she would try to find some of these individuals during her journey and talk with them. "Even when you fail, or it doesn't go as planned you feel the need to continue. It takes passion and drive in order to complete a weapon. I think they might need the same traits." She said looking at Tera with a soft smile. Who would have thought pearl gathers would have something in common with a blacksmith?
"I would love that!" She admitted with excitement."Hmmm... Well, when you do discover a spell that would let you do that or learn how to swim yourself--you could send me a letter." Winta contemplated. "Or next time I pass through."
