Half Truth had never seen so many kin in her life. The gathering at the fire was one of the largest she could remember, and everybody was just so alive and vibrant. Loads of new friends, old friends- that reminded her, she was going to have to look for a few kin she'd met back at the obelisk. See how they were doing. She was recovering from the mental strain of the ordeal, but she was still wary of the memories and worried about it. But- here she was, at a wonderful party, thinking about that rock. What a waste of time! She should be thinking about having fun and talking to all of those kin... And of course, all of those kin would need to be fed. While there was a pretty good stockpile of sweets and treats- those kin from that tribe with the chickens must be in heaven tonight- certainly additional contributions would be appreciated. But where to look? She thought about heading to the water's edge, but didn't particularly feel like fishing. There was a grove of fruit, but it was so late in the season that she wasn't really liking her chances. She could go hunting, but if she got drawn out on a long chase, she'd be away from the party longer than she'd like. That left a nearby clearing- some good vegetation could be found there, and everybody liked salad, right? She cantered off in the general direction of the clearing, hoping for luck.

The scent of flowers got heavier as she continued into the clearing. Gardenias! Magnolias! Big heavy white blooms that had such a heady aroma it was almost overpowering. These would make a fine addition to the feast. She sampled one of the waxy magnolia blossoms, reveling in its tenderness and flavor. These were flowers worth writing home about. Was there anything else in this area? Oh yes, right down there was a rose bush. Roses were delectable as well- the tang of the rosehips, the sweetness of the petals, the way they smiled when you were showing off, the way they flushed when you nibbled at their ear- "Wait, no, focus girl," she muttered to herself. "Wrong kind of rose." A thought came over her- she was definitely alone in this clearing. She could go get the right kind of rose after this and sneak away for a little clandestine kissing. Or poetry recitation, the right kind of rose loved that. How romantic- the cool crisp air, the clearing full of flowers... but first, bringing this food back to the party. She bundled up more of the flowers, including some of the roses that remained in bloom. Was there anything else around here?

As Half Truth looked around, she realized there wasn't much more to this clearing. There were still some flowers, but she had plenty- and besides, if she was sneaking off here later, she didn't want to strip the place completely. This was fine, two big bundles of flowers. Eagerly, she headed back to the party and to Rose-
Perhaps too eagerly. Towards the front of the clearing, she slipped on a patch of wet grass and went down hard. "SON OF A b***h that hurts ouch ouch mother-" She was quite glad she was alone because this was embarrassing as hell. Rising to her feet, she glared at the trees, daring somebody to step out from behind one of them. Were her flowers fine? Yeah, she hadn't landed on them. Was she fine? Well, mostly. Her left hind ankle was pretty sore- it felt like she'd twisted it. She wasn't sprinting back to the party, that was for sure. Gathering what remained of her pride, she limped off with all the dignity she could muster.
