Hard to tell as it was, Fought With Fury was in a good mood. She always was when the Festival of Plenty came rolling around in the Swamp, her giddiness about the great bonfire's construction still as fresh in her mind as the first time she saw it as a fawn. The flickering flames soothed her in a way nothing else could, her own eyes burning bright as the fire kin freely gathered around. In some small way, she could feel affection for this shared fascination. Firebrand's focus was not, for once, on wanton scuffling, but for gathering firewood. How lucky for those kin she blithely weaved past...!

Trotting over to a promising pile, Firebrand curled her lip in distaste at what turned out to be soggy wood. Useless. Annoyed, she kicked it further into the muck, then turned tail and kept up the search.

Now this was more like it. A nice, dry tree with a branch she could surely work with. Grabbing it in her teeth, she wrenched the limb off and carried on her merry way.

On her way to toss the branch into the bonfire, Firebrand paused -- then snorted at more wet wood.

Somewhere in the swamp, Ire thought she heard Firebrand's familiar roar. She buzzed her wings impassively.

After that little tantrum, Firebrand felt vindicated as she found a promising branch she most certainly would not let slip from her grasp.
