[HH MOB BATTLE] What Am I Getting Into? (Cearney)

Cearney had certainly heard about the Haunted House in passing, but he had never himself ended up in its grasp, nor did he really want to end up in its grasp for any reason, really.

His luck wouldn't last, though, because when he turned a corner he found himself face to face with a place he was not so familiar with, and after a few seconds it came together for him quite clearly. Oh.

This must have been the Haunted House.

Now he just needed to get out of this place, really. But where was the exit? It didn't seem like he could just stroll right backwards and out.

And even worse, when he looked back in front of himself, there was something staring him right down.

Great.

Was this actually a cat? Cearney really wasn't totally sure about that one.

It looked like a cat. It was certainly smug enough to be one. But something seemed a bit off about it, and it didn't sit particularly well with Cearney.

This wasn't really the time for pondering, though. The cat advanced on him, that smug, devious grin on its face. In some ways it was a little bit reminiscent of a cheshire, but only a little bit.

It swiped at him, leaving a gash in his overcoat. Appalled, Cearney struck back, but it did very little good. He wasn't very skilled at fighting, really.

It unfortunately seemed this cat meant business, so he couldn't just stand there and let it all pass, as much as he would have liked to.

He didn't appreciate his clothing getting tampered with.

When the cat tried to strike again, Cearney once again tried to strike it back. It went about as well as expected, which was to say it didn't actually go well at all and was actually kind of terrible.

Part of Cearney was already looking for an escape, because there was no shame in leaving a battle when one wanted to avoid certain dissipation, but he kept at it for now.

This was likely against his better judgement, as it was quickly becoming proven that either this cat was quite wily or Cearney simply could not possibly aim.

It was probably a bit of both.

Then again, perhaps it was more Cearney than the cat. It wasn't moving all that much really, but he seemed incapable of hitting it all things considered--

Cearney smacked it, perhaps finally figuring out what he was supposed to be doing.

He needed to do that again, considering he felt slowed down and the cat clearly was not. In fact, it had quite eagerly taken yet another shot at him, and all these shots were starting to wear him out quite a bit.

Though like he had been with Davyne when he clearly handed himself his own loss, he was a bit loathe to admit that.

Thankfully, no one else was there to witness this shame.

Cearney needed to actually do more damage to this thing or he'd need to flee with his own figurative tail between his legs.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and smashed his fist out for a harder hit than he had ever made. It actually seemed fairly effective! The cat seemed a bit surprised at the very least, and he'd try to take advantage of that.

Try was, naturally, the operative word in that particular sentence. His next hit packed considerably less punch, but hers never changed.

Nevertheless, he was fairly sure this thing had to be close to dissipation now. Right?

It certainly felt like it should be. Mostly because he was fairly sure he was also close to dissipation, and he had little he could do about it.

Desperate times, though, called for desperate measures. Cearney refused to dissipate and shame himself and the entire leprechaun race. This was not how they would go out!

Screaming to charge himself up, Cearney charged the cat and lept on it after it attempted to finish him off. He tore and scratched and punched and screamed, tearing it apart with a power he did not realize he possessed until he suddenly fell on his face because the cat he was attacking was suddenly no longer there.

Wait, had he did it?

He did it!

Cearney let out a loud woop much more reminiscent of a monster than a dignified demon. His eyes widened a tad and he covered his mouth while he checked to make sure there was no one else in there.

When that was confirmed?

Well, Cearney continued celebrating.
