Tendaji is Reopening (October 1st, 2015)
After a long needed break and a lot of thinking we have decided that Tendaji will reopen with a tentative opening date of January. With the reopening we will be updating and overhauling a lot of what Tendjai was.
Please understand that the changes we have made are changes necessary for staff to continue to run Tendaji and keep it open.
Class Quests: Owners will now submit solos written prior to applying for growth that include a short summary of what their character obtains from this (it is now self driven character building). The importance of the class quest solo is that there is a substantial show of growth in personality/plot with that character. Staff will no longer be grading, but will only approve or ask to alter before growth is accepted. More specifics are in the Growth Request thread.
Growth Timer: Because class quest solos will be finished prior to submitting for growth, the time it will take to approve a growth will be cut down exponentially. There will now be a 3 week cool down to submit for next growth after it is approved, though the individual character art timer is still in effect. More details are in the Growth Request thread.
Prices: Prices have all been updated to reflect the changes necessary for artists to continue and be hired in Tendaji. These can be found in the custom thread, the adoption threads, the breeding threads, and the front page among other places. Shop items will remain the same price as before.
Rules: We have made minor changes to the Forum Rules, but please look through them to make yourself familiar with any changes we’ve made.
Activity: We had activity checks before and we’re bringing them back. We hate to see our pets go unused and it breaks our hearts to see all of our hard work collecting dust. If there is no activity from an owner over a period of 3 months, we do reserve the right to reclaim the character(s) if deemed necessary.
Items: We will be discontinuing our Change of State Elixir and our Friendly Hand Elixir. If you own any please post in our inventory thread with what you would like to substitute the item(s) with. You can request 1 fairground item or 2 regular shop items in exchange for the discontinued item.
To prepare for our reopening we’re going to be starting an owner roll call. Owners can post in this thread to announce themselves as active. Please also include all characters that you would like to remain active. This is the perfect time to clear out any characters that have lost their muse or that you would like to see given to a better home. If they are not listed in the thread, they will be rehomed. (If you would like them to be retired rather than rehomed please let us know when posting.) Owners that have not posted by the time of the reopening will be considered inactive and not wanting to return, and their characters will be retired until further notice.
Once an owner has posted in the roll call, they may continue to RP with their characters and earn req points toward growth while waiting for the official reopening and reinstating of staff. (Growths will still remain closed until the reopening, but RPing and battling will be allowed.)
By participating in the roll call and coming back to Tendaji with us, please understand that it is an agreement to follow all of the updated rules and procedures as they are with the “new” Tendaji. All owners acknowledge that they are coming back in accordance with our rules.
If anyone has any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Suhuba or kaname423
There will still be future updates to come between now and the reopening as we continue to decide what to do about current owners and growth statuses among other things, so bear with us as we try to clear the dust.

Owners In and Waiting On Class Quests (October 3rd, 2015)
To clarify how we will be going about this, owners who have finished their class quests before the closing will be graded and treated with the same rules pre-closing.
Owners who were given quests, but have not completed them can choose to either complete the prompt they were given, or to use the new solo style layout in their journals to complete the class quest solo, but please let us know which option you decide on.
Owners who were not given quests will be following the new solo rules, creating their own solo in their journal to complete the growth requirements.
If any of the owners involved in the above are not going to be rejoining Gaia, please let us know, and if those planning to return have not posted in the roll call yet, please do so before continuing with any solos/growth quests.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

Familiars Retired (January 15th, 2016)
As was announced with the reopening, some of our familiars are being retired. Now that the last familiar event is over and dropped we will be officially retiring them as of today.
Familiars being retired are: Spitorog, Aldabuk, Capramel, and Raptrix
They will no longer be available as customs, events, or beast taming. They can still be battled, and used in battle, but no new familiars of these species will be available to own.
If you have any questions, as always feel free to ask heart

RP Rules Update! (February 15th, 2016)
Hey everyone! Just a little update to the rules. In order to avoid some confusion we've gone ahead and explained one of our long standing rules and hopefully made it even easier.
|| When RPing (whether a PRP or shop event) each character must have their own gaia post. Characters cannot share posts in order to avoid confusion.
Previously characters were allowed to share a gaia post as long as the characters had clearly marked RP posts within them. This has always been a rule, but it was hazy as to what this meant. Now characters will have to all have their own separate posts. This also includes Metas and AIM RPs.
Additional FAQ questions added about this:
Can I RP two characters I own as one post? All characters within an RP (normal or meta or otherwise) must have their own gaia posts in their own POV. You cannot combine characters together into one post. Posts such as these will not be counted toward the post count for any RP.
What does having one post per character mean technically? Having one post per character means that in their post it is only their POV, only their thoughts, and only their actions. Character B cannot have inner monologue within Character A's post. Character A cannot initiate the actions of Character B, etc.
So things like Aminah's post: "Aminah pushed Sathe's shoulder. Sathe returned the favor and Sathe couldn't believe how angry her sister was and was hurt by her actions." would not be allowed since it is voicing Sathe's inner monologue within Aminah's post.
Something acceptable would be like "Aminah's post: Aminah pushed Sathe's shoulder, her anger showing in her eyes." Sathe's post: "Sathe felt her sister's hands hit her shoulder before she was pushed hard. She could see how angry Aminah was, etc." because this shows Sathe reacting to Aminah's actions and not Aminah initiating Sathe's response in Aminah's post.
Is there any advice for what staff looks for when approving RP reqs for growth? Something to keep in mind when RPing with more than one of your own characters is - how would you RP with another owner? If you wouldn't write that way if you were RPing with someone else, then it's probably not allowed when RPing with yourself. Try to think of each of your characters belonging to a different person. Each person would put their own character in their own post and would have their own thoughts on what's going on.
Do AIM RPs have to be posted within a thread as separate posts a well? Yes. AIM RPs will have to be transcribed into a thread with a separate post per character, but one owner can do all the transcribing (so it's easier to transfer over).
Do the characters all have to stick to the same post order the whole RP? The order of the posts can be fluid - as long as all owners are on board and each character only gets one post per round. So ok: chara1 then chara2, then chara3, then chara2, then chara3, then chara1. Not ok: chara1, chara2, chara1, chara3, chara1. (etc)
