Captain Humphrey 'Brinewhiskers' Whittard was a stereotype; or so it seemed. An old man with a white beard, fond of sea captain's hat, and captain of his own vessel; a pro charter 40, named 'The Salty Wailmer' that he used for ferry tours in the summer months.
However, the grizzled old sailor had placed an advert in Camphoreon's local papers, which had been picked up and spread through various medias until it could be found island-wide with ease.

'Brinewhisker's Limited Winter Tour: For one day only, on the 18th of January, 'The Salty Wailmer' will be making an unusual winter trip to Peppermint Island, 40 miles North East of Kodo; this is a 3 hour ferry ride departing at 6.30 am. Passengers will be given a rare 6 hours on Peppermint Island, which is ample time to explore the small but beautiful place; at less than 2 miles wide, and just over 3 miles long, at its widest and longest, there is nowhere on the island that cannot be reached within an hour, though the terrain can be described as rugged. Don't miss this rare opportunity, as Captain Whittard has declared the trip to be free to all trainers although donations are very welcome! There are facilities on the island- including first aid and toilets- however interested parties are advised to bring their own food and drink.'
If one were to dig around, one might find a forum post or two pointing to a very brief interview where Captain Whittard made mention that his motivation was 'a promise to some friends', yet would elusively say no more.

The day of the trip arrived, and the boat, crewed by the captain and 3 other crew members (who were only slightly more chatty than their stoic captain) carried their passengers from Camphoreon in the early morning, arriving at somewhat misty, ruggy looking rock just after 9.30 am. An old wooden jetty jutted from the gritted sand of a beach that bordered just one curving face of the island. Impressive cliffs, topped with scrubland vegetation, made up the rest of what was visible on approach.
Upon landing, stairs to the top of the cliffs, just off the beach, could be seen- and were pointed out by the three crew members who proceeded to distribute maps, quite insistently, to everyone along with a supply of pokemon chow.
The island had three zones to explore;

1.The Beach: Here a visitor could walk along the gritty sand and pebbles, exploring rock pools, or fishing with a pole borrowed from the crew, unless they'd brought their own gear.
Some Seel and other pokémon hang around lazily in the sands, while others splash about offshore!

2.The Scrubland Clifftops: Here a visitor could follow trails that let one see the whole island after climbing the stairs from the beach. Tough plants, some bearing berries, clung where ever there was shelter from the wind, and various different pokémon made their home amongst them. Perhaps they could be attracted by an offering of food?
Swinub trundle about alongside other pokémon; something hunts in the sky above!

3.The Deepwater Coves: Hidden from the landing beach, up the stairs and then immediately down a descending, slightly windy, path were the Deepwater Coves. Connected to the sea, and to each other, by an underwater cavern, people were encouraged to try throwing chow into the water here and seeing what they might encounter.
Home to many happy and hungry pokémon, Feebas play with Wooper, and larger pokémon lurk, glimpsed as shadows, beneath the water!

The crew reminded visitors to treat the island with respect, but to enjoy themselves, and that if any help would be required, they'd be staying near the boat.
Captain Humphrey 'Brinewhiskers' Whittard, quite notably, was smiling to himself.

[The Beach]

After the... week? Weeks? Well after the period of time he had had and was still having Taavi was pretty excited to having something to look forward to. Free trip to place which would no doubt have plenty of wild pokemon? Yes please!

The early start hadn't bothered Taavi in the least, when he had something interesting to do he was one of those annoying morning people who bounced out of bed fully alert and far more cheerful than anyone had the right to be before six in the morning.

Now it was just after nine thirty and freshly off the boat armed with the smaller of his two backpacks, a map, and a supply of pokemon food Taavi was feeling good about life. "Wow, isn't this place beautiful?" he beamed to Abel with an expansive gesture at their surroundings. "I wish we had more than six hours here." Taavi took in a deep breath of the fresh sea air and crouched down to peer into a large rock pool; this was the sort of place he belonged, not cooped up in a city all the time! He needed to get out more, it was just kind of difficult at the moment with spending all his time job hunting and all.

Overhead Valour wheeled in the sky, enjoying the scenery below just for the sake of it today; Taavi had asked him not to hunt while they were here just in case he caught one of the other day-tripper's pokemon by mistake.

[Beach, with Taavi]

Uuugh, 6:30am was far too early to be awake, let alone boarding a boat for a three hour trip. But it was a nice break from the monotony, and a nice break from his unpleasant blackmailer to a place she couldn't pop up at random, plus it would be nice to spend time with his friend in a place that piqued his interests. So Abel had agreed to go - even if 6:30am was horribly early - and after packing a bag with supplies and at least one thermos of coffee, he departed with Taavi. Almost the entirety of the boat trip there he spent either asleep in the back, or trying (and failing) to stay awake to converse with his friend.

Once they arrived and disembarked, the blond spent a few moments stretching and attempting to fully wake himself up before following after Taavi. While Taavi stopped to inspect a rock pool, Abel pulled a thermos of coffee from his bag. "It is beautiful," he agreed as he took a moment to spin in a slow circle and look around, taking it in now that he was beginning to actually wake up, though he didn't know if he'd want to spend more than six hours here. Not without more coffee or some place to warm up after a while. "I wonder what all kinds of pokemon live around here? What d'you think?"

[The Beach with Abel, leaving Wooper alone]

"Humm, well I would think that you'd find Wooper here," Taavi said in very thoughtful tones, whilst smiling at the Wooper that was sculling around in the rock pool. After a moment of thought Taavi dropped a bit of pokemon food into the water for it before straightening up and turning to Abel with a grin. "Just a hunch! Um, but other than them I'd expect there to be things like Krabby, Corphish, maybe Poliwag and Psyduck around here on the shore? Um, the wild pokemon around Kodo are pretty varied so it's hard to say really, I could only tell you what I know would do well in the environment. Oh, Wingull would be another! You might even find Vaporeon in a place like this if you were lucky, with reasonably easy access up to the cliffs they could raise their kits... but of course it's pretty rare to find Vaporeon in the wild in general. Still! They'd do well here if they were here. Heh." Well that had sounded a little dumb but oh well, no big deal.

[Beach, with Taavi. Yay driftwood!]

"Smartass," Abel said with a wry grin - no, Wooper, really? It wasn't like they were staring at one at the moment or anything, of course not - and took a sip of his coffee as his gaze alighted on a piece of driftwood sitting nearby. "Lots of water-types, then," he summarized as he bent down to pick up the piece of wood to inspect it for a moment or two. Brief inspection over, the blond used the piece of driftwood to tap Taavi's arm just because he could. "Carving material?" He asked as he glanced around again in case there was more nearby. "I wonder if there's only water-types or if there's others around too. It is cold as balls out here, after all. Ice-types too, maybe?" Or maybe it wasn't cold enough for them? Firearms were his specialty, not pokemon types and habitats.

[The Beach with Abel]

"Ooh, wood!" Taavi observed enthusiastically, making a playful grab for it as Abel tapped his arm with it. "Mine! Um, but yeah," he nodded and gestured further along the shore and out to sea. "I wouldn't be surprised if there were Spheal, Dewgong and the like around. A little further up the shore you might get grass types that tolerate salt well like Tangela too. Oh, and if you were really lucky you might find a Dratini around here somewhere! Not on shore but um, you might hook one fishing or tempt it to the surface with food."

[Beach with Taavi]

Nope, no more driftwood; only seaweed. Oh well. "Heh." Abel relinquished the driftwood to Taavi - he wasn't sure how viable it was for carving, but maybe it would be good? He didn't know anything about driftwood, but Taavi was sure to find a use for it somehow - and straightened up to look around. He squinted out across the water - he couldn't really see Kodo from there anymore, but maybe they could atop the cliffs? - before approaching the water lapping at the shore. "Ah, that'd be neat, yeah? Don't normally see any of those around Camphoreon, I don't think," not that he looked very hard, "but that sounds pretty cool." Maybe they'd find some really interesting pokemon? With that thought in mind, Abel fished out some pokemon chow from his gifted supply and tossed it out into the seawater as he wondered aloud to Taavi, "I wonder what else we'll see besides cool - ha - scenery."

The Scrubland Clifftops

Citrine was SO EXCITED to go along on this trip. A free boat ride? Seeing more of the area? She hadn't been to this island, and she couldn't WAIT to see what was in store. She was practically bouncing the whole time she was waiting to depart. Being so restless, she fell asleep on the trip over, but she was wide awake and refreshed when they landed on the island. This was great! She couldn't help but take off to explore. She was so ready for this! Map in hand, she made sure she knew where the boat was, so she could get back in time, of course if she missed it, she could always fly back on Bingo, she supposed. But that was besides the point!

She ran along the beach and up to the cliffs. She climbed the stairs eagerly and stood on top, looking down on the beach below. This was great! She reached into her pocket to grab her camera, dropping some food as she did.

[Deep water Coves]

He was armed with a map, pokemon chow, a backpack with extra pokeballs, first aid kit, flashlight, and his lunch. Oliver had sought out the deepwater coves for peace and quiet. His absol walked along his side as he breathed deep, looking out at the water.

"What do you think?" He questioned.

Sucrose simply wagged her tail and raced off, running around the coves edge, splattering up water.

Oliver chuckled and took a seat on a rock, causally tossing a bit of pokefood into the water.
