Time. To a kin, a lifetime is all that can be fathomed. But there is something past that. It stretches out for an eternity, infinite, with a beginning long past the reaches of communal memory, where truth has been stripped away by conflicting opinions and spun into tales for foals. It continues without an end in sight. Yet this infinity is only a smaller portion of ages yet to come. To those with the patience to see it, the swamp breathes– so slowly as to be missed by most– slowly enough that foals are fathered, named, born and take in their first sights before it has had a chance to inhale a second time. Patterns emerge, gradually. Summers that peak warmer, and warmer still, winters that continue a march towards being milder and milder... all part of a world on a far grander and slower scale than that of the kin.

And one small foal sees the years of the swamp, in its infinite majesty, changing climate and rocked with the restless stirring of the earth as it shifts and quakes to find another comfortable position to let life continue crawling on its pelt. Sees it weep, rains turning to floods at miseries too great to comprehend, watches it hunger dryly without reprieve.

Edits: For sure: Ears, tail, and hair. The hair could either be kept down like the reference image to the right, or pinned up in the back if I could swing for a mane-scruff? Ideally, unisex horns removed, and male horn edited like so. I would love an eyepad edit to make the scale beneath resemble tearlines!
