The thicket that was known to her and her family as home was quiet. Her mother and father were enjoying the river, just beyond the northern bend. Her sisters were off doing whatever it was their hearts desired. Even Persimmon was nothing but quiet, slowly chewing and building her ever growing contribution to their home.

The soft pink doe was bathing in the shallows of the river in a pool of sunlight. There she reveled in the chill of the spring water that glistened over her fur, making her pale blues ripple. Her shaded eyes were half-lidded as she cleaned, her mind busy with thoughts of the chores and tasks for the day ahead.
