Fairy tales are told to children, whether to scare them or put them to sleep, and always with a moral. You know what they say however, there's always some truth behind every story. In one country, covered in forest and with few large cities, there is one tale that is not even considered a bedtime story, but a natural hazard, because everyone knows its truth. Werewolves, creatures that stand taller than man while combining the ferocity of wolves and are almost immortal, have been known since long ago. So long and popular, that being a hunter means that you are considered to hunt anything in the woods, including the werewolves. The sightings of werewolves have been increasing recently, and with more people taking interests in factory jobs spawning in the large cities, hunters are becoming fiercer to make up for their lack of number. This forces villages, such as one called Vallia, to place rewards for hunters to kill these beasts...

Phoenix347 The sightings of werewolves have been increasing recently, and with more people taking interests in factory jobs spawning in the large cities, hunters are becoming fiercer to make up for their lack of number. This forces villages, such as one called Vallia, to place rewards for hunters to kill these beasts... Red hopped off the carriage and walked around the front as it pulled to a stop just outside Vallia. She had to pay the driver to bring her this far in the forest. People are scared to come out, often isolating villages like these. Red began to unload her bags, which were few to begin with and tipped the driver, before he turned tale and rode off hoping to reach city limits before dark probably. Vallia had a pack problem, a problem with such a high reward Red could not resist. She sauntered down the road into town on high alert. Hunters like her had the right to be prideful often bringing towns up again into prosperity. Down off the main road, she was aiming to find the constable and find out any details of the pack they would have, before the full moon.

OOC: The forest, mostly empty, was only filled with the cracking of branches far from the town of Vallia as a man ran through the brush. The sun was near setting, and with the night came the wolves. He shouldn't have stayed here, not this long. If he left earlier like he planned, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Nevertheless, there was no turning back. Being an Alpha wasn't considered lucky inside the forest.
Alphas were werewolves who particularly inspire and can command other werewolves. Generally, a pack isn't without a Alpha, but there are some rare occurrences and when those happen, the pack is usually more feral in its hunts. That also meant however, that some might want to overthrow an Alpha. Seras was one of those alphas. Thankfully he wasn't noticed by the village in his feral form, so there he could find safety, if he got there before the pack found him. He wished he didn't throw his lot in with them.

Sitting in the darkest corner of the towns tavern at dusk would not be something a city born 21 year old girl would be doing on a weeknight. But, Red was no average city girl, after getting the information she was seeking about the packs last sightings and the witness recounts. She was ready to piece together information in order to start her search around this time tomorrow. Right now her main concern was to get the waitress to stop coming around her few minutes so she could research her assignment without scarring off any potential assistants or witnesses. Upon the waitresses third lap, Red decided to order something that would give her a guaranteed twenty-five minutes to rifle through her research. "Excuse me waitress, let me have a steak and onion plate medium well and a pitcher of ale but, please do not bring me the pitcher till the steak is ready."She laid out her journal and the notes taken at the constable office, on the dusty tavern table in front of her. Why would the sightings be so far apart...... And why is there no significant Alpha known?? Usually with small pack the Alpha would make himself known especially to those out after dark. Why are there only small sightings in the outskirts of town? Might the wolves be gathering in numbers elsewhere, building and testing their strength...... Would they not need to hunt soon?? The full moon is due in about a week...It has been decided, Red has a plan on how to begin to handle this pack problem hopefully, she can get the ball rolling tonight around midnight and finish this job before it becomes too dangerous for her to stick around. She will go out into the woods just bow and arrow tonight alone around midnight. She began to put away her paperwork and decided for now she could enjoy her steak and ale, she would never know when she would be eating her last meal. She had to wait it out order a room and unpack before the moon reached its highest point in the sky.

OOC: At least Seras now understood the meaning of the phrase 'running from wolves'. The sun had set, and it was getting dark enough that running was becoming troublesome. If he didn't change, he'd remain at a snails pace, but if he did, he might be spotted. He didn't want to run the risk, not as close as he was to the town if he was right. The sound of branches snapping behind him broke all chances
From behind, two werewolves appeared, charging at him on all fours. He jumped to dodge the first one, and had to roll from the other's pounce. The next few seconds were a waiting contest, watching each other for their next move. Seras wanted to get to the village and they knew it as well as where the village is. He had no clue how close he was, and he ran too far to risk being hunted by two groups.
If it was only these two, he could finish them by himself with just his enhanced capabilities. He waited for them to pounce, clenching his fists in preparation. When the first came, he stepped to the side, only to grab onto it and tackle as it reached the ground he was previously at. He had to beat it senseless, ignoring the scratches from its claws before knocking it out, falling off and standing up to find the second one gone. Without missing a beat, he continued running in the direction he assumed to be the village.

Red paid her tab, and set up in one of the boarders rooms, locked up and headed out into the village. Although the tavern was warm and welcoming and so full of life, the forest beckoned her, like a mother cradling her babe. She needed the coolness of its touch. She was in no rush, not at the moment anyway, She had a whole night of surveillance ahead of her. Red sauntered down the road until, the wind tickled her nose with the slightest bit of blood enticing Red into one direction. She took off as stealth-fully as possible she ran towards the smell. Why would they risk a kill this close? Was someone in need of her help already? Was it another villager who had turned up missing at curfew? Soon Red was untop of it. Literally, standing above a badly beaten wolf. A werewolf just like all the horror stories children are told. The big bad wolf comes out at night destroying anything in his path. It appears though in this instance one wolf fought something much stronger then it could fight off... Before Red could contemplate the situation she was able to notice tracks, leading closer to the village then she would like. She took off again leaving mental note of where the body was and that it needed to be taken care of come first light. Red ran as fast as she could even using a touch of magic, she needed to find whatever killed that monster in the shrubbery. Soon she came to one of the outlining fields were she spotted him. Clear across the field she saw another figure..

Red glanced across the field and saw the figure running to the village. In a split second she called out while racing towards him. She stop using her magic to accelerate, she was not trying to scare him but, she was prepared for battle, if it came to that.

OOC: Errrr, went for dinner but okay, two posts... He was out of the woods now, both literally and figuratively, and the terrain changed from uneven ground littered with leaves and branches to flat and soft soil. He slowed down his pace, knowing that he was much closer to the town now, and that was a good deterrent to the wolves individually. He could possibly find a shack to hold up in until the morning, then he could leave safely. At an even jog through the rows of vegetables, still too short to tell what it was going to be, the quiet of the night was interrupted by someone's voice, and when he turned to see whoever it was, they were running right at him.
He couldn't take the risk of it being a wolf, and the village was still a ways away, but the field he was in jutted out into a section of the forest. He could lose this person in there, and there was no guarantee that the person wouldn't try to kill him in the town. Decision made, Seras quickly changed his direction and headed for the tree, again. Once in them he used the trees to lose his pursuer, and when he felt he was out of sight, stopped against a tree, only to hear the howl of wolves. He stepped out from the tree, looking for the direction it came from, only to see his pursuer. And she was looking right in his direction.

Red had crossed the field and began to walk she ended up just outside a line of trees, trees in which her mystery figure ran into for cover. Red was close enough to see it was not a wolf she was looking at but a man. This man was wounded, as if he had gotten into a fight and fought off the wolf. The only people Red could think of who could fight wolves were hunters... Had another hunter answered the bounty and was unsuccessful so the constable did not tell her? Was he un-contracted? Did he fight the wolf in hand to hand combat? Was he physically able or did her use some magic Red was not aware of?? Did he need her help?Red decided to call out to him... You are wounded, come out here, I just want to make sure you are well. I will not take this bounty and leave you to get the payout, or if you wish help you with it?She stopped at the tree line anxious of his reply. She genuinely was concerned, which rarely happens, hunters are suppose to distance themselves from feelings like this. It makes them weak and soft. And in all her experience, when she felt this way bad things began to happen... But, Red knew this was different, from anything else before.

OOC: She had to be a hunter, none of the villagers would risk coming out here at night into the forest. Although it was true he was wounded, it didn't impair his abilities. "Just stay away, go back to the village! It's not safe out here!" He responded. waving to send across his suggestion. If she was a hunter, she was probably after the bounty the town placed on the alpha, which the town happen to believe was him. His only hope since then was reaching the town as a human, but that was becoming a pipe dream. Past her however, was a trio of werewolves charging out from the forest towards them.

Red turned weapons drawn, "There is no way, I am leaving now!!" Her broadsword gleamed silver in the moonlight, this is what she was waiting for after all. She charged head first at the closest wolf to her. She jumped up in the air and slammed her sword between bones in the spinal cord right below the ribs; a crunch sound of breaking bones rattled through her sword. Her feet landed on the wolf's shoulders, as it howled out into the night. Without missing a beat she side stepped and shot one bullet straight into its skull. As the wolf began to fall to the ground dead, Red jumped off its shoulders and landed gun and dagger aimed towards the other wolves who were engaged in battle with her mysterious companion. She wanted to take out another wolf, her adrenaline was through the roof yet, she also wanted to see if her companion could hold his own even injured the way he was. He had to be the one who took out the lone wolf in the forest.

OOC: "Stubborn hunters!" Going up against anymore than one werewolf was crazy for any hunter, and she had three charging at her. He couldn't sit back and let her die, he charged towards the trio right behind the hunter. Knowing she was a hunter though, he didn't want to change and blow all his effort right away. Instead, he did the same as he had with the two from before, he tackled one of them. While the hunter took one on her own, Seras had the unfortunate luck of having the other two focus on him, as to be expected. He was the one they were after.
Tumbling into the rows of green, the werewolf tried to claw at him, while he kept beating at its head. He didn't carry any weapons on him, which often became troublesome like now. His greater strength proved to be effective though, and after wrapping an arm around the werewolves' and breaking the joint, he gripped tightly on its throat. Gunfire resounded in the field, and the bipedal beast stopped struggling. Before he could focus on the other one though, it tackled him and bit down between his shoulder and neck.

Red steadied her aim. Hand to hand combat was never her style but, her companion seemed to be having an issue with the last wolf. After it came up from the bite it took, Red shot only with seconds to spare. She was the silver bullet go right through its skull there was no way it was moving after hat except to land on top of the mysterious man. Stubborn hunter her butt, he attempted to take on two wolves at once and she was the stubborn one? "I'm so stubborn right?" She asked as she slowly moved the dead wolf from on top of her mysterious companion. "I did not try to take down two of the things at once like you did... And now you are hurt even more. That's its you are coming with me, weather you like it or not. You need the help."She tore her cloak off and began to wrap his neck and shoulder to at least stop the blood, for now and to stop the wolves from tracking his scent. She extended a hand, offering to help him up.

OOC: "" After Seras screamed in pain, the werewolf released its clamp on his body, and another shot rang out. The limp body fell onto Seras, and he was treated with a lecture for helping the girl as he started pushing his predator off of him. "Yes, and you're welcome." he restorted, beginning to pull himself up, clenching the wound. Even when the Hunter put her cloak around him, he kept his hand on it. He didn't have the healing factor in this form. He took her hand to stand up completely, not wounded enough to pass out. It should be easy now, although explaining it to the town would be difficult. "You really shouldn't be out here tonight." Right after he said that however, more howls erupted from the forest, followed by a roar much louder. "We have to go, now!" He started to pull the hunter, not to the town, but rather back to the forest and away from the howls.

Red rolled her eye but, this man was smart to try to lure the wolves away from the village if they were chasing them. She followed for a while till she heard running water. All hunters know without a scent that predatory animals cannot follow you. "We need to go to the river!" She said, "We need to loose the scent of the wolves and our own scent..They could not follow us after that."She then turned the situation around, by gripping his hand tightly and pulling him towards the sound of running water. They needed to get there before the wolves following them got any closer. She whispered spells as they went spells of swiftness and stealth. She could see the river in the break of trees now all they needed to do was walk into the river and follow it back to the outskirts of town. Hopefully, they will be able to make it back before light, before people could question why if she left alone she would come back with someone they did not recognize. She released his hand as they got close and dove straight into the river hoping her would follow her example. She made sure that the water completely veiled her and that the blood from the wolves was washed clean away before she came up to look for her mysterious companion....
