There were no stars to be seen on this night, as the swamp was covered in a thick and somewhat eerie fog that chilled the poor kimeti to his very bones. The dark-colored buck had gotten turned around more than once during his travels, and it had made his long walk from the seaside and back to his home an even more complicated one. Even still, the sight of the mirror reflection of the stars on the inky black ocean had been well worth the trip, just as he'd been told it would be. He refused to let himself think anything otherwise, and would do his best to remember the three day 'vacation' of sorts fondly; even if the sand had rubbed him the wrong way as he slept, and even if the salt had dried skin, and even if the sun had shone down upon him much too harshly during the light of day.
The buck could still picture the way the stars had seemed to collide with the horizon each night he had stayed on the edge of the world, creating an even larger sky for him to look at in wonder. He'd waded out into the water until his belly could feel the cool touch of the dark sea, and he'd pretended- just as he had in his naming dream- that he was floating high above the world he knew, suspended among the stars. It had been a glorious and unforgettable experience. He would've liked to stay there, in that moment, for the rest of his days... but the waves had grown treacherous, and- later- the ache for the swamp had tugged viciously at his heart until finally he'd given in and turned back towards home.
Otherworld squinted, the fog having seemed to grow even more denser as he'd continued forward; lost in his own memories. He stopped walking, turning his head this way and that as he strained to see past the wall of mist. The swamp had grown quiet, he'd realized, and the air seemed colder than before. Exhaustion tugged at the edges of his mind and, suddenly, whispers of unknown languages filtered through the bucks ears. "No..." he murmured, closing his eyes as though that could help him to fend off the beasts from the other worlds. "Please, not again..."
