He was eager to return to his home among the thick and winding roots of an overturned tree, but his body was as weary as his mind and he had to focus hard on keeping his eyes open as he trod across the wet muck of the swamp floor- each step seemingly harder than the last.

There were no stars to be seen on this night, as the swamp was covered in a thick and somewhat eerie fog that chilled the poor kimeti to his very bones. The dark-colored buck had gotten turned around more than once during his travels, and it had made his long walk from the seaside and back to his home an even more complicated one. Even still, the sight of the mirror reflection of the stars on the inky black ocean had been well worth the trip, just as he'd been told it would be. He refused to let himself think anything otherwise, and would do his best to remember the three day 'vacation' of sorts fondly; even if the sand had rubbed him the wrong way as he slept, and even if the salt had dried skin, and even if the sun had shone down upon him much too harshly during the light of day.

The buck could still picture the way the stars had seemed to collide with the horizon each night he had stayed on the edge of the world, creating an even larger sky for him to look at in wonder. He'd waded out into the water until his belly could feel the cool touch of the dark sea, and he'd pretended- just as he had in his naming dream- that he was floating high above the world he knew, suspended among the stars. It had been a glorious and unforgettable experience. He would've liked to stay there, in that moment, for the rest of his days... but the waves had grown treacherous, and- later- the ache for the swamp had tugged viciously at his heart until finally he'd given in and turned back towards home.

Otherworld squinted, the fog having seemed to grow even more denser as he'd continued forward; lost in his own memories. He stopped walking, turning his head this way and that as he strained to see past the wall of mist. The swamp had grown quiet, he'd realized, and the air seemed colder than before. Exhaustion tugged at the edges of his mind and, suddenly, whispers of unknown languages filtered through the bucks ears. "No..." he murmured, closing his eyes as though that could help him to fend off the beasts from the other worlds. "Please, not again..."

Glow Cloud flittered through the swamp, nimbly stepping over brush and rocks, her long tail leaving the mark of her passing in the dirt. She stopped a moment and looked up, but the branches and growth overhead was still too thick to see the sky. With a soft sigh, she continued forward, heading for where she had remembered the sound of crashing tides.

Walking toward her along the same path was a gray buck. The doe stopped and stood there, watching him wearily making his way closer before finally speaking up. "Can the sky be seen from the big waters?"

Otherworld is startled by the sudden appearance of a dark-colored doe. With the voices still whispering at the back of his head, he is somewhat surprised when language native to the swamp comes tumbling out of her mouth in an immediate and extremely forthright question. Otherworld fumbles for his words, trying to remember his manners and doing his best to ignore the exhaustion weighing him down.

"I---... well, yes- yes, it can..." he looked down at the wet ground beneath them, then allowed himself another peak at the new doe. Her pelt reminded him of the planets he'd once dreamed of. It was mesmerizing. He could stare at her in awe, all night. Unfortunately, though, he had more pressing matters to attend to. "Do you, er- do you by any chance know which direction would take me closer to the hear of the swamp?" He was embarassed to admit he was lost, but he was humble enough to swallow his pride and seek assistance when it was truly needed. "The fog has got me all... all turned around.." He tried his best not to make eye contact with the doe, for fear he'd hold her gaze for much longer than would be normal. He shook his pelt, hoping that might aid him in escaping the nerves that crawled across his skin. He was terrible at conversation, and he was absolutely horrible at it when it came from a beautiful doe that had appeared mysteriously from the mist.
