Wisps of white drifted lazily across the empty sky, the specks of cloud never growing quite large enough to do more then create thin shadows over the land. The sun shone brightly, rays dancing through the air, glinting off the water in blinding beams. As it's clear waters danced in the soft summer breeze the river sparkled in the light, small fish swimming beneath it's surface. The day was mild, the grass below his feet waved and danced in time with the wind as the buck walked along the river, searching for a shady place to rest. His goal was soon reached, a lone tree cast a wide shadow over the grasses surrounding it's base. Leaves rustling gently, it made a tempting offer, one which he gladly accepted. Settling down in the shadows beneath it's bows he sighed happily, the sounds around him lulling him into a lazy half-sleep. Watching grass sway through half closed eyes he relaxed, dozing now and again as he listened to the whispers of the leaves above him. The kimeti lazed, simply enjoying the calm and gentle day around him.

Shifting the grasses lightly with his hoof he pondered their slim and supple lengths. Shifting his position he began to attempt to weave them together, something which did not work out quite so well. He was not exactly skilled in such things, and teeth and hoofs could only do so much. Perhaps he should have brought Sweet along, though he knew she didn't enjoy the heat, as mild as it was to him. She was happily in the glade with the rest of the herd, building webs in the shadows and dancing in the few beams that made their way through the trees. Beneath the Surface smiled at the image, trying again to weave the grasses the same way Sweet weaved her threads. His attempts grew better, but their lopsided and haphazard appearance persisted. The buck continued his attempts however, undoing the worst tries and leaving the best as his goal to surpass. He had little else to do, why not wile away the day working his weaving? Days such as this were perfect for perfecting a hobby after all.

Rose Petal also sat under the tree, a bright and gleeful smile on her face. Who might this be? She wondered, as she first sensed the kin approach from the other side of the trunk. Zikwa were very in tune with vibrations and the earth after all, even without eyes she still got around fine above ground, where she'd mostly lived out life with her dear acha mother.

Rose decided it was time to announce herself, after all they'd been here together for a while and yet, she felt sure he was completely unaware of her on this warm Summer's day. Standing delicately and quietly, graceful as usual, Rose peaked her form around from her side of the tree and spoke softly:

"Hello there," Before adding cheekily, "I don't suppose you noticed me?"

Beneath the Surface was examining his latest attempt at weaving when a voice suddenly sounded from the other side of the tree. Jumping in surprise, his fur stood on end, denoting his complete shock. "I- uh- h- hello th-there." The buck seemed to choke on his own words, fading off slowly as he spoke. "How- how a-are..." He looked at the ground, his expression panicked. The poor buck looked a complete mess, completely unsure of himself, fur in all directions and blushing up to the tips of his ears. After a long pause during which he stared exclusively at the grass, as though attempting to psych himself up he spoke, almost to quietly to be heard. "...you."

He couldn't bring himself to look at the doe, his experience with interacting with others was exclusively limited to his herd-mates, and even then it was usually with extreme preparations. Sudden conversations such as this one was something he had no experience with, which considering his lack of experience with talking general made this rather difficult for him. He attempted to choke out another phrase, but only about half of it came out. "...-m go-goo..." He awkwardly shifted the grass he'd been attempting to weave with his hoof, before lightly nudging it with his head, nibbling on the stalks anxiously as though attempting to distract himself.
