Mudskipper flitted from branch to branch for a while before collapsing on Mire's bottom in the clearing. She smirked at him quietly, and sniffed a nearby flower that she'd been attracted to the scent of, and had slumped down by. The breeze was cool, the babbling brook provided some much needed ambiance, and the birds chirped songs to each other far above them. The only thing she wished she could see better was the sunlight; but most of it came in shades of grey to her. It was still just, in general, a very lovely day. She hummed quietly to herself, enjoying a common peaceful solitude that she'd come too familiar with. Mudskipper only quirked his head and squeaked occasionally, more interested in the bugs flying by than Mire's boring quiet.

"If you want to go play, you can," she said simply, eyes closed and face to the nice breeze. "No one's holding you here by your tail," she joked, putting a hoof on the end fluff while he squeaked indignantly at her until she giggled and lifted it, tucking her leg back under her. "Go on," she sang in a sleepy voice, "I'll still be here when you get back, so long as it's not dark."

It had been a dead heat, moist and muggy, and she'd been going from warm pool to sluggish creek to try to find some respite from it, only to be gifted with the sound of energetically-burbling water at the same time as the wind picked up and started to cut through the late spring heat.

Cool at last! The dainty doe was quick to splash her way into the creek– shallow as it was, she'd have to kick water up and use her tail to make the most of it, but she was more than willing to put in the work it entailed. Without any further delay, she started about getting herself wet, so the breeze could finally start to cut away the grime and sweat of a too-hot, too-busy day.

Mirewood flicked an ear at the sound and snapped her head around. She hadn't even noticed the brook, but there it was, at the edge of her vision by the trees. She blinked, and then flicked her gaze around to locate Mudskipper, only to notice he'd already flown off after whatever bugs tantalized his appetite. She sighed, and rose to her feet, hesitantly, feeling strange without him.

She slipped behind a tree, her tail loudly brushing grass as she did so, and peered carefully at the strange doe who'd seemed to have magically appeared. She squinted a bit to see her better in the shade, but the sunlight glinted off her beautiful white fur and brought her out from the shaded trees almost perfectly. She blinked a few times, and then showed herself. "Oh, hello there," she said awkwardly, not even sure if where she was looking was into the doe's eyes from this far. "Awful hot today, huh?" She joked, smiling shyly.
