He was quiet, barely breathing, as his eyes stared out at the clearing. In the clearing, a flock of birds flitted, their chirping dominating the Swamp song. The alternated between dancing low in the air and standing in the water. Either way, they would have made good prey, perhaps not as much of a challenge as he usually sought, but prey nonetheless. In some ways, he was testing himself.

He turned his head away from them, turning his eyes to the trees. In their lack of movement, they stayed clearly in his vision for only a moment before they seemed to disappear into the vast swath of grey that always made up his sight.

He took a breath, settling the prickling in his limbs. Sometimes his heart still raced in yearning for blood, but he could calm it now, could deny the thing that once consumed his waking and dreaming moments. He could see a bird and think of it as more than prey.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Wrath had had a fairly good day. It wasn't perfect, not by any means– the prey she'd caught only the night before had already been overrun by insects and that had put her off her feed, but she had found a relatively well-laden berry bush nearby, and she hadn't seen anybody, but that only meant that nobody had gotten under her skin. It had simply been good enough, and there was nothing picking at the back of her blissfully-clear mind threatening to send her over the edge.

The day was anything but quiet– the constant buzz of life in the swamp was an ever-present burble, and in the distance, an abundance of chirping promised a show, and an easy meal, provided she was motivated enough to seek the flock making that racket.

With nothing better to do, she swerved in her path, pushing between a couple overgrown birches, and nearly tripping over a tangle of roots into the water ahead.

He had been aware of the other kin's presence, vaguely, before they had pushed into the clearing--he couldn't count himself a hunter if he hadn't--but until their presence became more than vague presence, he had not been concerned. There was no point in seeking out other large animals--if kin, then the meeting would happen if the other wanted, if not, there was not point in courting conflict.

Their entrance, on the loud side considering that circling the clearing would have allowed them to gain sight of the flock without having to alert the birds of their presence, caused many of the birds to fly out of the clearing. Some though, merely landed high on the trees, and others still, those who were willing to risk the presence of two kin for the snacks they were searching for in the water stayed as they were.

He turned his head back towards the other kin (not sure if they were buck or doe; the grey blobs of his sight were only good enough tell him the other creature was kin) on the other side of the clearing but said nothing. If they was here to hunt, then they was free to continue as they had. He would not interfere.
