The date is 2049 and earth is all but a barren waste land, thanks to a deadly virus that had come out of nowhere three years earlier, decimating and mutating the entire human race. The place is New York City or what used to be New York. Among the lifeless city stands a young boy names Zenichi who is somewhat alive thanks to a birth defect that made him immune to the virus. Now he is in search of survivors, hoping that there is at least another immune to the virus like him. Unfortunately the virus has a...unintended side-effect...Whoever or Whatever becomes infected by the virus becomes a blood-seeking killer with no thoughts of reasoning or anything else except the urge to feed upon flesh. How will Zen survive this? Who will help him? Let's find out. Name: Zenichi 'Zen' Bloodheart Age: 17 Hometown: New York City(Or what used to be) Personality: Upbeat(despite his situation), kind, sweet, patient and not a bad fighter when it comes to his continued survival. Bio: Story Above Likes - animals - surviving - the color blue Dislikes: x the color pink x the virus x loud noises

Zen quietly made his way down Central Ave, trying his hardest not too make too much noise. Ever since the virus that had hit the city and the rest of the world, taking out everything and mutating human and animal alike. But for some reason, the virus had no effect on him and he decided that it must because of the birth-defect that changes his eyes from purple to a dark red color when he's scared or angry.
He sighed as he pulled the large parka he was wear tighter around him as it was cold and windy He had to find a safe place before sunset as that when the infected come out to demand he did not want to be anywhere in the vicinity when they did. He decided that the Hospital would do as for some reason the infected refused to go near it. It had beds and food. Vaguely he wondered if there was anyone else has survived the virus like him.

Cecil had been napping in one of the hospitals in New York, he had run as far as this but still had yet to find another survivor of the virus. He awoke now while the sun was still up, he had gotten used to staying awake at night since the infected became more active then. At least during the day he could sleep on and off in relative safety, and since making the hospital his base he had had very few run ins with the infected. As he opened his eyes and sat up he stretched, noticing it took a few moments longer than the day before for his vision to clear. He still couldn't see well, sometimes it was fuzzy, other times it was as if a film covered his vision. He stood from the cot he'd been sleeping on and started to walk towards the cafeteria. Thankfully much of the food was still edible here, and he had decided not to think too much about what would happen when his supply ran out. He entered what much have been a busy place before the virus, trays even still sat on tables. He rummaged through the back and found some cereal which he took to sit at a table and ate dry out of the box. He knew he would have to move again within a week or two and continue trying to find others, he couldn't survive if he ever completely lost his vision, but he didn't know where to head next.

Zen continued to make his way to the hospital, pausing for a second before opening the doors and heading inside. He carefully made his way through the halls, relaxing slightly when he noticed that there was nothing to fear but he kept the bat that he used for a weapon close to him just in case as it had saved him more than once. He decided to head to the cafeteria in order to find something to eat, hoping that there was something edible.
Once he entered the cafeteria, he placed his weapon back into he large backpack he was carrying and headed towards the back, deeming his surroundings safe for now. He headed behind the counter and through the door, which made a loud squeaky sound in the quiet hospital by he paid it no mind as he assumed that he was the only one here.

He had finished his food and was sitting at the far end of the room, looking out a window at the empty world outside. It was strange seeing a world devoid of people. He had been thinking about going back to the room to sleep when he heard the tell tale squeak of the door that led to the back. He tensed, he knew he had been the only one here, but there was no way it was the wind. He hadn't brought a weapon with him and was now regretting it. He kept some knives in the room he slept in but he feared he would be noticed trying to sneak out of the room. Finally he decided that his best option was to sneak up on the intruder and hope there would be a useful weapon at hand if needed. He snuck towards the door that he'd heard, trying to hide at the sides of tables close to the floor. Once he had gotten close to the door he slowly stood, trying to catch sight of the other. When he finally saw the other he stood and quickly deduced he wasn't dealing with an infected, the other seemed to be another survivor. "What are you doing here?" He spoke up loudly, hoping to catch the other off guard, betting on his chances that he could at least out run the other if needed.

Zen was pawing through the hard NBS he had found, completely unaware of Cecil sneaking up on him. He put aside all the things that were expired in one pile and the edible in another. Ironically enough the edible foods happened to be a lot of junk food but some of them happened to be microwaveable dinners hat were thankfully edible as well. He made sure that the drinks were too as he didn't want to get sick.
Hearing the voice, he jumped up, turning around In surprise as he came face to face with...another boy. One who seemed to not be affected by the virus, but it could be a trap. He blinked a few times, his eyes narrowing slightly at the question. "I...I needed a place to stay for the night and thought that this was a good place to do so..."he replied in his soft voice, gripping is bat to his chest. "What about you?"he asked, not dropping his guard for a second.

He tensed a bit when the other turned to face him, unsure if the male would attack him. He relaxed a bit when the other seemed a bit flustered as he answered his question. He looked the other over carefully, rubbing one of his eyes to try to make the scene before him clearer. When that failed he killed over the question thrown back to him before answering. "Pretty much the same, though I've been here a few days now." He kept his eyes trained on the other. Even if his vision wasn't great he didn't want to take any chances. He remained silent a moment longer, staring at the bat the other held, before speaking again. "Are there more survivors around here? So far you are the only one I have seen." He felt a slight bit of hope, perhaps the other had come from some sort of settlement where there was relative shelter and protection. He could only hope.

Zen relaxed slowly when he realized that he wasn't going to be attacked but he held onto his bat just in case. He blinked when he heard the answer to his questions. So, the other male Had been here several days? He wondered what was written the other's eye as it seemed different from the other. He soon realized that he was getting distracted and returned his focus to Cecil.
He flinched slightly when the other asked if there was more survivors. "Not that I am aware of. It is just you and I at the moment but here might be more...but I'm not quite sure and I share as hell am not going to go out here and find out. Especially since it's now dark outside.." he added, pointing outside just as the sun disappeared below the horizon.

He waited stiffly, it didn't seem that there was going to be a fight, after all what point was there in fighting each other when there were infected around. He felt a bit disheartened when the other said there weren't other survivors. he nodded when the other spoke about it being dark out-so much for getting another nap in before nightfall-and he sighed. "You're welcome to stay here for the night then, or as long as you want i guess. The food will run out soon though, not sure where to go from here." He turned and walked towards one of the windows, glancing outside and seeing some blurry signs of movement. Hopefully the infected would continue avoiding this place until he finally decided to move to another location.

Zen could hear the disappointment in the other male's voice. "Sorry. By the way the name is Zenichi but you call me Zen." he replied as he gathered up the edible food in his arms and stood beside Cecil as he watched the Infected start to come out. "Thank you for letting me stay here. I don't know what I would do with them out there." he added, shuddering as infected started acting each other. "Hey,do you want to share his food with me?" he asked shyly.
He ignored the sounds of the snarls, growls and Dow right inhuman noises coming from outside. He made a mental note to check all doors and windows just in case later before he slept. He did not want to chance anything despite the infected avoiding the place like the plague. It never hurt. He knew that from experience.

He listened to the other speak without looking at him, his eyesight was even worse at night and he realized that within the next year his night vision may be completely gone. "Name's Cecil, you can call me what ever you feel like." He was already trying to think of his next plan, not sure if he would rather stay with the other or let them go their separate ways. He supposed any ally would be better than none, but he wasn't sure he could trust this person while he slept either. "It's not like i own this place, so i don't have the right to kick you out to die." He gave the other a side ways glance. At the offer of food he waved a dismissive hand. "I just finished eating before you got here, ill eat again in a few hours." He planned to stay up tonight as he did every night now. He could hear the noises of those bellow and it was almost sickening, but he had quickly gotten used to them and now it was no different then when he had listened to crickets in the woods behind their house as a child.

Zen just shrugged before nodding. "Okay." he replied before heading over to a nearby table and setting the stuff down. He placed his backpack down on ton the ground before taking one of the dinners and heading back into the kitchen to warm it up once he got he microwave started that is. As he waited he wondered how Cecil had ended up here as he didn't think that he was native to New York. Win a sigh and a shake of his head he decided to give the other boy the benefit of the doubt. He knew the he shouldn't trust so easily but Cecil was the only one besides him not infected.
Zen realized that all his thinking was makihisbhead hurt, so he just stopped just as the microwave pinged to a stop. He carefully extracted the food before heading back into the cafeteria and taking a seat at the table where he proceeded to eat as he was starving. He made sure to keep his eyes on his surroundings and especially on Cecil.

He listened to the other moving around as he kept his eyes looking out the window. From here he could see the entrance to the hospital, just barely, and he often spent much of the night waiting to see infected wandering into his hold. But just as all the other nights they smeared clear of this place. He wondered what kept them at bay. And was it just this hospital or was it any hospital? He leaned his temple against the glass, still able to catch site of the other he was sharing safety with while watching outside as well. Once he heard the microwave beep and saw the other sit down to eat he spoke softly. "Any ideas why you and I arnt like them? Seems like it's a pretty small percentage that doesn't get the virus if we each are the only survivors the other has met." What if they were the only ones in the world? What then? Just wait to die? He couldn't accept that.

Zen looked up from his food when he beard Cecil ask him a question. "I don't know. All I found out before my parents tried to kill me was that I was born with a rare birth-defect the prevents we from becoming infected." he replied after swallowing. "I don't know about you but it could be the same for you or something totally different, I do not know." he added with a shrug. To be honest, he had been quite surprised to learn about the condition but it had explained a lot.
Zen could sense Cecil was deep in thought about something so he left him alone as he continued to eat until he had finished and then throwing away the trash."Hey...we should get some sleep. Or at least retro anyway..." as he grabbed his backpack, hefting it up on his shoulder and heading for the exit.(Hey. Idea. How about a place across the sea where there are more survivors? It would make sense, right?)

He listened to the other and nodded dimly, perhaps what ever was causing him to lose his vision was keeping him from turning into one of them. But who really knew for sure? There was a long silence as the other finished eating and Cecil enjoyed it, if only because it let him think. He had to figure out his next move soon, preferably before morning. When the other spoke about sleeping he stood. "I've been using one of the rooms down the hall." He began walking, bidding the other to follow. "I've already slept enough, I stay up at night in case those things break in." He opened the door to the room he'd been using, his own bag of items on the floor, a change of clothes on one of the chairs. "Feel free to sleep if you want, I'll wake you if needed." He glanced to the other, wondering how someone could feel safe enough at night to sleep in this world. Ooc- sounds good smile
