[B] Spur of the Moment (Dim and Bitter Heartbeat)

Dim had a habit of keeping his feelings and thoughts to himself unless prompted (and sometimes even then). It wasn't obvious by the look on his face that he was actually bursting with excitement and joy over the news. He'd been a father, once, and though it was quite some time ago, he remembered that he found the experience wonderful. And now that it would be happening a second time, well, the buck was still trying to hold it in because it was second nature. The only hint of his delight was the way he seemed to be radiating that joy.

Not having expected any company, Dim leaped a good height in surprise at the flower-adorned stag's arrival. Though he landed on all fours, the buck trembled in a mixture of shock, disbelief, and relief as he all but shouted "Yes! I am!"

The pent up happiness upon learning his fortune was finally given a way out and Muted Flash seized the opportunity. "I'm going to be a father! Again! And it's just WONDERFUL!!!!"

Though Dim had many hopes for his children, he didn't think they were too terribly unique to himself. He tried to pass this off as nothing out of the ordinary, "Oh, I'm certain that every parent must want their young to be healthy, wise, safe, kind, and a loooooong list of other wonderful, positive qualities." And indeed this seemed to be a standard except he hesitated.

He did not dislike himself or any particular attribute about his partner,
"But perhaps..." he began, suddenly looking downcast. His voice grew faint, almost an inaudible murmur, "They would know moderation the way it eludes me?"
