Mel somehow remained patient as ever. She reached out as Lafayette continued to try and argue his point, listening and grabbing the water bottle from him, in a manner that suggested she wasn't taking it away. Sure enough, she simply released Blue into his fish bowl, and held the water bottle over it. He seemed to catch on, and with a quick, isolated Blizzard attack that, if anything, offered a mere, cool breeze to the trainers, chilled the bottle again, before he was recalled back into his ball. She held it back out to the Aussie, setting him with another even gaze. "That has nothing to do with this, Lala," she insisted plainly, moving forward to brush a thumb over the welt to get a better look and move his hair out of the way. "You did do something here. I'm not saying what it did was okay, but..." She trailed off, looking at him obscurely. She wasn't sure if it was a good idea to really push the topic, at this point. She seemed to be making more progress with the other matter, and, withdrawing her hand, rested her arm on her knee again, leaning over Kiwi.
"Look, Noah and I are both sorry. He clearly feels bad about it, and I'm sure he didn't mean for it to turn out like that. And I just don't feel that lashing out at him for something that wasn't exactly his fault, is fair to him. He clearly cares a lot about you." She drew back, throwing her hand out in an absent wave. "And honestly, I've rather enjoyed our conversations thus far. Don' mean I won' let my six hundred pound legendary sit on you or anythin', but I'd much rather be having swimming contests or sparring matches than deckin' one another, figuratively or not," she concluded, giving a soft, sincere smile.

Lafayette was about to grab for the bottle when Mel took it, honestly believing she was taking it back. When it was clear though that she was just re-chilling it, he relaxed and promptly grappled on to it again. He winced as she brushed the welt, wishing he had a spare hand for swatting but instead just shoving the bottle to his face once she’d moved her hand away.
Again with the reasoning and again his temper flared, grip visibly tightening on the bottle. he snapped back, half tempted to chuck the bottle. "I don’ get ******** over by pokies, I ******** them u- he stopped mid-sentence and flinched, a terrible shocking pain running in the back of his head. Ow. Was that the bruise to his faces doing? Do much pressure on the spine? It hurt, that was certain.
Whatever. He huffed and tried to focus his thoughts again. He eyed Mel and then Noah, who was scuffling right next to her, looking like he wanted to help or do something, especially after that little twitch fit. "If he realleh cared he’d be gettin’ me outta this," he snapped, glaring at the Dewott. Noah’s expression dowered some and he gave Mel a bit of a look. Lafayette noticed and rolled his eyes, wincing again.
He needed to breath. Taking a deep breath, he was quiet again for a moment before giving a little smirk at the comment. "Yeh.. .well… if you goin’ te cheat, don’ think it’ll end well," the Aussie remarked sarcastically. The conversation had been pleasant up until this point...

Mel hardened her stare. "Seem, Lala. They ain't. And that one wasn't. You can't argue that it was. All it did, was defend itself, like you undoubtedly would've in the same situation. You're...." She stopped herself. Criminy. He was more of an animal than the pokemon. But, she couldn't exactly say that, could she. She recollected herself, eying him at the wince. "That was karma by the way," she remarked smartly, but shot him a glare at the guilt trip he sent Noah's way.
"Pretty sure I've made that my call, Lala," she replied back coldly, giving him a sharp look. She took a deep breath, then set Kiwi down. She met his gaze evenly, her mind clearly working, before standing up. She dusted herself up, then promptly swept Noah up again. "It's been nice, Lala. I'll bring you back some food in a bit," she loftily promised, promptly turning, and starting off again. Kiwi stared at Lala, before turning, and following once again. Z had been looking out to the ocean, but, if Lala's mind was open enough, a low, calm voice might have drifted through his head. You really ought to work on your temper... Neutral and detached, like someone commenting on the weather.

Lafayette rolled his eyes at the statement. He just didn’t care what it seemed or whether they were linked or not. He felt they were in the purest black-and-white thinking; a pokemon attacking you was a pokemon attacking you, defense or not. He was regretting not smashing the thing. Boy, he was yoyoing all over the place with this wasn’t he.
"Yah, well yeh call is trash sheila," he spat. And then once again, he watched as she scooped up Noah (bloody little b*****d traitor!) and announced she’d bring him food in a bit before sauntering off again. Cheri, watched a moment before following suit, still working on that cup of (no melted) ice cream. Really? That was happening again? She was leaving him here again with this rock slug still sitting in him? Well, there went the temper again and he growled before shouting after the fleeing crew. "YEAH NICK OFF, ALL OF YEH. ******** YEH, YEH TRAITORS." He shouted, fuming again. He chucked the bottle away (brilliant in his rage) and snapped his attention around when something seemed to ‘speak’ to him. It took a moment to realize it might’ve been from Z and he just shot the legendary a dirty glare.
"Eat shite yeh dipstick," he growled and with a renewed vigor, set out once again to try and free himself for this horrible entrapment. He was determined to get free this time, help or not.

Mel shook her head as she headed off with Lafayette's pokemon. She headed back for the pokecenter to get changed, lost in thought, and eventually, coming to an idea. She got the pokemon some food, and something for herself, for later, but for the moment, while they ate, she was going to do a bit of a warm up and some training, of her own.
Meanwhile, Z seemed completely unaffected by Lafayette's general... ness. Perhaps if you did, you might actually be able to reason with Mel. Or at all, remarked the legendary, absently pressing just a bit harder on Lafayette, not enough to hurt, but to be uncomfortable for a moment, before lifting up, as if he was only shifting his weight a bit, Or at least not chuck valuable resources. Not expecting much in response, Z settled in, prepared for another long silence-- at least, on his end, at any rate.

Lafayette huffed and just rolled his eyes. The peanut galleries just didn’t stop, did they? Now he was getting chewed out by a pokemon of all things? It felt like he was getting deeper and deeper in the hole that his attitude was digging him.
"Wha’ reasonin’? Get the feelin’ I’m wrong no matte’ what." He spat, grunting against the extra pressure that was applied by the Zygarde. He smashed a fist into the creature and winced, immediately flailing said hand in pain. Damn rock slug stupid… ouch.
"Don’ tell meh wha’ to do." And with that he fell into silence, resuming his fuming and attempting to dig himself out of the sand. It wasn’t working (no surprise) and a good hour or so he’d worn himself out again and given up to mope. The heat was starting to get to him to and he begrudgingly regretted chucking the bottle out of his reach. He could use a drink.

Z still didn't move, though he was clearly listening to Lala. Honestly, more of his attention was on thinking about other things, and observing the ocean, but he knew this matter was important to Mel, so he gave the conversation a good degree of his focus. Just you? You don't seem particularly interested in listening, let alone conceding, to her points either, he pointed out evenly, his tail absently shifting in the sand as he stared off. He did, eventually, turn his head, odd eyes peering down at Lala some, acknowledging him, essentially, for the first time, though he didn't respond to the gruff demand.

Lafayette grunted and glared up at Z as he continued the conversation. It was hard to read the pokemon with the lack of obvious facial features and that was annoying. The most he could gather was that the thing seemed to be staring out at the ocean; funny given that rocks didn’t float well in the water.

Again, he wasn't addressing more than he felt he needed to. Z still didn't move much in response to Lafayette's fitting. Perhaps he only leaves, because when he was first grabbed, you looked ready to hit him. the Zygarde turned, but not to look at Lafayette, rather, to observe a few neighboring pokemon on the beach. Even pokemon fear getting harmed by the ones they love. He absently moved his tail, but fell silent. There wasn't a weight to his words, like he was trying to make a point-- just that same casual calmness, with a sort of finality to his silence that suggested, unless Lafayette came up with something compelling, even he was essentially done with the conversation.

Lafayette scowled. "So wha’? He ain’ some wuss!" He snapped back, shifting back into a more comfortable position. If he’d had both arms, they’d have been crossed over what portion of his chest was available to be crossed over. He didn’t though and so just settled with the one.

Z didn't address Lala any further. He left him to his thoughts -- whatever degree he was capable of with that -- and continued peaceably enjoying the beach. He didn't even turn when Mel eventually arrived, having done some workout of her own, and having let Lucy hang out with Noah, the monferno doing her best to cheer up the dewott, and fool around to have fun, or get him to lighten up. She'd bought all the pokemon food, and even brought a paper plate with a corn dog on it, as well as a few wrapped sandwiches, just in case. She was eating her own corndog as she approached, eying Lafayette. "So--" She started to address him, but stopped when her foot nearly slipped on the water bottle in the sand. She looked down at it, then lifted a deadpan stare to the man. "... Really?"
She sighed and picked it up, before continuing over, and crossing the rest of the distance. "So, I was thinking," she remarked, but left it at that as she moved to sit down beside him, eying him a bit to assess his status, while pulling out Blue's bowl so she could get the pokemon to ice the water again.

Lafayette welcomed the silence and took the time to… brew and mope about his situation. By this point, he was tired; the air was warm, the sand was warm and all that heat just sapped you clean. That and as much as he hated to admit it, there was no fighting the unexpected 600-pound weight barreling down on him. It was a wash… a terrible wash.
He shifted only a little from his moping as Mel once again returned, eyeing her and the pokemon with a dull, unamused look. He didn’t even have the energy to shoot glares anymore, that’s how tired he was. It seemed Mel had brought along food and acuity he became aware that he hadn’t eaten anything yet with only a brew and a half to fill his belly. Something to eat would’ve been nice about now…
He stared as Mel spoke and looked surprised about the bottle, just giving a grunt. Yeah, yeah... okay that action was stupid on his part and it semi-showed on his face. As she stopped to kneel down with it, he could help but squint a little bit before focusing his gaze on the fish bowl. That must’ve been a pain to cart around just to keep her fish in (was it a Goldeen? It was weirdly colored from what he noticed). Why not just chuck him in the ocean? It was right there. Okay it wasn’t everywhere but in this situation, it was right there.
"…. Wot?" He finally managed, watching as she went about her business, briefly glancing to look at Noah and Lucy. The Dewott seemed a bit better in spirits, thanks to the Monferno’s attempts to distract, though being back in the area seemed to have them dipping again as he eyed Lafayette. He kept his distance for the time being, letting Mel do her thing once more, rather hopeful that his trainer would well… cooperate. He glanced at Lucy instead, thinking a moment before giving a chirp and gesturing towards the water line. Maybe she’d help him look for some shells?

Mel calmly waited while Blue Blizzard-ed the water down to a cool temperature, before recalling the now-wary pokemon, and turning to Lafayette. "Firs' thing's first," she started, uncapping the water and holding it out to him, "You thirsty?" Whether he accepted or not, she would either hand the water bottle over, or cap it and place it in the sand, but she continued all the same, resting her other hand on her leg while holding up her hot dog, the plate with Lala's still on her lap. "I don't like being called a cheater," she stated quite simply, "Even if it's just an insinuation. You want to fight, I'd rather do it on a level playing field-- not that that was what this was supposed to be." She rolled her shoulders back and straightened up, but didn't give Lala much a chance to comment.
Instead, she offered him the corndog. "Whatever you might've decided while you were out here, I was enjoying our conversation before... and I was looking forward to that swimming race," she admitted with a frown, "But if you prefer.... I'd be happy to show you I didn' need Z to help me here, instead." She wasn't sure how Lafayette would take this.... but she'd decided that arguing probably wasn't going to help anything, at this point. And she'd felt any points she might have actually made, would be better left stewing, than being pushed even more.
