Name: Jesco
Age: 33
Sex: Yesplz Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual

Weyr: n/a
Rider Rank: n/a
Previous Rank/Craft: Part-time Mercenary (just don't tell his mate!) / Full-time Merchant

Physical Description:
Jesco is fairly tall, not quite reaching six foot, but close to it. He has a lean build that is lightly muscled from time spent sparring when he was younger (and still continues as an adult). He has slightly wavy black hair that falls to below his shoulders when its not tied or braided for flying. His face is just shy of being angular with stormy blue eyes that are usually stuck in an annoyed and narrowed look. The same can be said for his mouth as well with lips constantly in a thin line. Unless he's teasing you. Then it's the cheeky smile and sparkling glint in his eye. There are thin knife-like scars scattered around his body, mostly in the chest/back areas as well as hands and forearms. These particular ones are from all the years of learning how to use throwing knives. The rest are just scars received from fights. Slightly deeper scars can be found running through his right eye as well as a few along his chin. The more prominent scars (such as the facial ones) are from the recent return of Thread. Jesco will typically wear an eyepatch over this eye, as he is now fully blind in that eye.

Personality:
One might tell you right away that he is an a**. A big sharding a**. And they would not be in the wrong. Jesco can be quite the asshat, in that sarcastic sort of way. If he has something to use against you, he most likely will. If it will make him look better in a situation, he'll use blackmail against you. However he'll never take things far enough to be dangerous to himself or those involved. Maybe at one point in his life, he would not have held back. But since becoming a rider, and having a dragon act as his conscious on occasion, Jesco has learned to keep his mouth shut. Some of the time at any rate. He's managed to learn how to shut his trap more frequently, thanks to the assistance of his his dragon.

However, this does not apply to his horrible ability at being a tease. Those that he considers 'friend' or worse, lover, will be on the major receiving end of this particular side of Jesco. He truthfully just can't help it most of the time. It's part of his nature! If he's teasing you and making you look the fool, then no one really notices the truer feelings he tries to hide. And hide them Jesco does! The only ones that will ever know how he's really feeling will be his dragon and whomever he considers family. To show his true feelings are a weakness that he can't afford to share. Something that can be traced back to when he lost his best childhood mate. When that point in time occurred, Jesco stopped letting his emotions flow so freely. The only exception being his anger. That emotion was readily available and became his most prominent. It has since ebbed away little by little with his bond to his dragon and the continued surprise when he actually does make friends that put up with him.

While the more obvious traits of being a d**k and a tease are the most prominent ones seen, Jesco is surprisingly loyal, something that only a few people could truly vouch for. When he does let someone in and develops a bond with them, Jesco will be one hundred and ten percent devoted and loyal to that person. It's not very often that he befriends someone that can put up with his personality. As such, when it does happen, he cherishes those individuals that seem to understand his thorny exterior and will have their back no matter what.

Another surprisingly strong trait that Jesco possess is his adaptability. He doesn't really make connections with places and seems to find his place no matter where he's at. This can be a positive and a negative thing. But he'll find a way to make it work. And if all else fails, he's not opposed to seeking out a compromise. He truly is more of a 'go with the flow' type of individual, which may also account for why he tends to be a terrible person most of the time. Really, he's not here to make friends. He's here to survive and use whatever means is necessary to do it.

Positive Trait List Loyal, Protective, Adaptive

Negative Trait List Asshat, Terrible Tease, Hides Emotions

History:
He doesn't really remember much before he was adopted. And even then, his childhood was mostly trying to look as cool as his older 'brother'. Which was how young Jesco got caught trying to steal at a ripe age of 4 turns. He just wanted to give that super shiny gem to his brother! Couldn't you understand that? Well, no, stealing was probably not the best way to do it. But, he'd gotten a small thrill at trying. So, it was no real surprise that he went out again. And again. Almost as bad as a hoarding flitter, Jesco started to build his own little collection of wares. Even began bartering them off when merchant wagons came around.

They may have laughed the first few times, but some of the merchants began to keep their eye on the young Jesco. The boy did have some skill and always seemed to have interesting shinies. And then he got caught. Of course, being the young lad that he was, he got off with a warning. A strict warning. But really, he was only 4 turns! Of course, his brief time in the limelight of the law didn't deter him from going right back out and continuing his thieving ways. He just learned how to be better at it.

For several turns, Jesco continued to refine his skills in thievery and was making a decent amount of marks. At least until he made the mistake of trying to pick the pocket of a Rider. Who happened to have an observant dragon nearby. But instead of turning the young man in, he was amused. His dragon thought Jesco to be quite crafty and informed his rider that they should bring the boy with them. Jesco refused almost immediately. Why would he want to go with them? He was perfectly (almost) happy where he was. But the rider painted a picture with his words of a young lad Impressing a Bronze and being much more wealthy than he currently was. While he wasn't a greedy individual, the idea of not having to steal marks to buy a meatpie was enough to convince him to at least go with the rider.

However, from the moment he entered the Weyr, he knew he didn't belong there. It was too confining. And the arrogance of some was enough to almost gag him. Really, if this was what it meant to have a dragon, he wasn't sure he wanted that life. And yet, the curiosity at seeing a Hatching and possibly finding a dragon partner of his very own was very hard to pass up. That didn't mean he had to make friends with anyone. So, he became the quiet one that glowered from the corner. Who was surprisingly good at his lessons. But don't you dare ask him for help or to assist you. He'd rather laugh in your face then actually help. Needless to say, Jesco did not have many friends at the Weyr. Something he was just fine with.

When he finally got to experience what it was like being on the Sands as hatchlings burst from their shells, he was quite impressed. Who knew such little bundles of terror could look so charming at the same time! Of course, it was one particular not so frightening blue hatchling that ran headfirst into him that took his breath away. The poor thing was half stuck in his shell but had pushed himself right up to His. Because he was stuck and Jesco needed to help! And thus, Wulferath became his most treasured thing. Not that he would ever admit it out loud.

It quickly became apparent to Jesco that his dragon was not going to be the biggest or most fearsome. In fact, he was pretty sure he was just the babysitter to his dragons antics. But the pair worked hard at their weyrling training, one of the few things Jesco could get Wulf to focus on. And when that wonderful day came where the duo graduated from weyrlinghood, Jesco packed them up and hit the skies. He was done with the weyr life and ready for the freedom having a flying dragon could give them.

Not really being able to help himself as he didn't know any other way to make money, Jesco took up his thieving ways once more, but found it much more difficult with a dragon. Needing a better way to make some marks, he stumbled upon a small gang of mercenaries, having no shame in questioning them about their jobs and how they made their money. It sounded like his true calling and Jesco began his life as a mercenary. He developed a bit of a reputation, with his snark and puppy like dragon. They even were paid in a sharding firelizard egg! There were many a times that the man let his mouth get him into some trouble. But he never failed to complete his jobs.

At least until the night Wulf chose to chase a beautiful green dragon with attitude to rival Jesco's and shaffing caught her. Jesco's world, quite literally, flipped upside down. Never had he found himself quite so smitten with another beyond his dragon. And yet here was one sassy greenrider with a sharp tongue and a way of putting Jesco in his place. There really was no going back to his old ways once his heart was stolen. He even agreed to quit his mercenary ways! Mostly. Jesco still accepts a job here and there. And prays not to get in trouble by his mate (he is never successful). He really does try to be what his mate knows he can be.

With the sudden return of Thread once more, Jesco finds himself wary of rejoining a Weyr. He is happy being out in the world, away from their sharding hidebound views of things. There are other dragons that can fight their old menace. He has worked too sharding hard to get where he's at, thank you!

Other: Anything else you want to add?
- He loves to drink. It's become something of a talent and it's a wonder he wasn't born of the vintnercraft!
- Star-gazing~ HE WILL DENY THIS
- Teasing. Terrible teasing. And wanting things he can't have~
- Throwing knives~ Surprisingly good at this, even with being half blind.
- Has the unfortunate pleasure of being bonded to a bronze firelizard named Gibson (Wulf made him take the sharding egg!)

DRAGON
Name: Wulferath
Age: 14
Color: Blue
Size: 25.5'
Physical Description:
On the smaller side of the blues, Wulferath has a lean body that is definitely built for agility. He has the speed and maneuvering capabilities that other blues and greens possess and he takes full advantage of this when in flight. His body is in blue-grays that are similar to the night sky. This tends to be to his advantage and makes him good for stealth. There are hardly any scars upon his body as Wulferath is a rather quick to escape anything that might leave such marks. Though he does have a few from the times he wasn't quick enough to escape the jaws of an annoyed dragon. His wings are a little tattered from flying a little too close to the ground or buildings while practicing to be stealthy in any sort of setting and for getting distracted by something, only having His thump him on the neck and tell him to pay attention. He's also got a few Threadscores along his back and wings with the recent return of Thread.

Personality:
This dragon finds himself having to defuse His' temper quite a bit. The blue has a more playful and cat like nature to him most of the time which both amuses and annoys his rider. Wulferath loves poking fun at His as well as curling up and giving those around him that, "I am cute. LOVE ME!" look. How this dragon has survived among the more haughty of his kind without major fights breaking out is unknown. Most think it is because the blue doesn't pick fights and is quick to avoid sticky situations. Which he does tend to find himself in quite a bit of the time. But he's such a friendly creature that he tends to forget that not everyone wants to be around him.

Wulferath is curious. Very very curious. And he has been known for wondering too close to the meaner dragons to see why said dragon is so angry only to escape their jaws by a breath. You would think he would learn from such encounters, yet he still seems to repeat the same mistake over and over again. Yet another thing that annoys His. That and the fact Jesco constantly feels like he is babysitting his dragon.
