[Shaddaling]

Scrape walked slowly through the swamp, carefully picking her way through the spring thaw and debris tossed about. Power and Birch had worked with her to dig out a cache of winter nuts still sound in their shells. They had filled an turtle shell and using some vines to allow her to tote it without dropping most of them.

A legendary would find her but it was best for her to keep going. They still wasn't sure how far they could pick it up. Scrape sighed and set her burden down, working her jaw ease the slight ache.

A Legendary did find her; at first just a faraway figure that wound through the trees, his form shifting fluidly as he crossed the terrain. He was a stag when they were finally close enough to speak, his gaze bright and thoughtful as it roamed across her.

Then he looked at her offering and though he had so far refused (sometimes quite harshly) all that had been offered to him before, this time he reconsidered. Winter nuts were delightful when toasted and he knew Other Daughter had a fondness for them.

"This way," he said, his tone leaving no opening for discussion, and turned to lead the way. If she wanted her blessing, she’d have to keep carrying the nuts all the way to his family's tribe.

Not one they knew, or one that she had heard off. Roses had been talked about the most but their had been others and she couldn't remember a buck with the warm rich markings of this one.

She nodded and picked up the shell of nuts and followed. Scrape faintly wondered how far they would go and where he was taking her. Somewhere likely safe.

He kept them walking at a steady pace, never once looking back to check if she was keeping up.

Now and then one of his pack would appear; an Eaglehound, a wolf, a ghost hound. They padded along beside them for a time, sometimes looking curiously at the doe before turning away back into the underbrush.

Ahh, so he was possibly a hunter. The pack was pretty and varied, wolf, eagle hound, ghost hound, first time she had seen one of the spectral hounds and so very lovely.

She kept walking, following along calmly.

The walk continued, seemingly endless, until day turned to dusk.

Only as it seemed night would fully engulf them did they reach Rise & Shine, the tribe still bustling merrily, small fires lighting the gloom. The Killing Moon stood tall and proud, with his home as a backdrop.

"Leave the nuts by the main fire," he told her, his eyes aglow, tracing her form once more. "May your children be born with fortitude and conviction. May they never falter."

Then he left her there, disappearing into the oncoming night to find his daughter.

Ooh, Scrape was slightly aware of Rise and Shine from the winter festivals. They sold food and had chickens and eggs. She hadn't been aware they had a legendary in their ranks. She nodded to him, quietly thanking for the blessing and set the nuts down by the fire.

The legendary hadn't stuck around. She sighed,looking up at the darkening sky and hurried on home. She had a bit of a walk to catch up with the group.
