Sorrel was very pregnant, and Mugwort couldn't figure out why, now of all times, she'd chosen to go visit Glossbones and River-Swollen. Well, ok maybe he could. She'd gone off to find a legendary to bless her clutch. And not been able to find anyone. He's got no idea why she didn't just go to Glossbones to begin with. It's not like he didn't live practically next door. And Mug doubts very much their brother would refuse to bless them.
Maybe she'd been looking for the stag who'd blessed her first clutch. That's possible. And very much like a thing she'd do. It's possible she didn't want to bother their brother as well. Not only does he and River-Swollen have their own business, gathering and cleaning skulls, spring must be a very busy time for Matope's chosen.
Sorrel, for her part, just wanted to have some fun. A nice hunt and then maybe help clean the skulls. It wasn't until they were almost there that she realized Glossbones could bless her. Well, now she felt dumb. She should've thought about that first.
