Gaddok held tight to his mother and kissed the top of her head; of all the people he didn’t want to see him like this - she was the first. “Mother, you really shouldn’t be here right now.” He murmured while pulling her tighter, “but I’m so glad you’re here.” His voice cracked as he choked back some tears. It had been years since Ruvaak had even acknowledged him, and now his mother was coming to his defense, It made him feel as though maybe he wasn’t the monster they were all making him out to be.

“I won’t let them take you.” She reiterated while brushing through his hair, “Your father was brought home by Lon, of all people, and he told me what happened…” Aerilyn got all quiet and forced an exhale, “Your father hasn’t talked to me about any of it… He won’t look me in the eye; barely utters more than a greeting- He has said more to me on this dock just now than the entire time you’ve been gone.” Brushing a tear from her cheek, she looked up into her boy’s eyes, “This can’t stand… They can’t take you over something as foolish as this, they just can’t!”

Pulling his mother into one final embrace, Gaddok gently kissed her head and lifted his arms up over her. Cupping her face he brushed aside her tears and smiled softly, “No matter what happens just know I love you, Mom…” He rested his head on hers, taking in a deep breath and releasing it slowly, “No one can ever take that away.” He looked up to see the Zenan guard advancing to detain him. “Ruu, Go with Mom. Keep her safe…” he murmured while shrugging the creature from his shoulder. Stepping past his mother he turned himself over with a request, “Let Remus come collect her… She won’t-” he emphasized while eyeing his mother, “be any trouble… Just let her return home with him.”

The counselor waved over Remus to claim his wife, “Very well… Take her to your home and report back to the capitol so that we may begin deliberation on this case.” The man shot Gaddok a sideways glance of disgust, “The sooner we get this matter behind us the better, in my opinion.” After Aerilyn was removed from the docks the counselor turned his guards and pointed to the cuffs, “Be sure he is secured, we will be going through the markets and I don’t want any incidents.” The guards tightened the cuffs so that there was literally no space to maneuver, but it wasn’t exactly cutting off circulation to follow as they made their way through town.

Gaddok cringed as the cuffs bit into his flesh, but was yanked forward as they began their march. It wasn’t exactly down the busiest streets, but enough people were present to begin the gossiping, the whispering; Oh, the rumors that would spread~ And being as Zidel was such a highly populated area it would be a matter of hours before everyone knew. Now just how was his father planning on recovering his image from this?

Mash’al followed in suit behind the entourage of Guards escorting his halfling “Friend” to quarters suitable for men of his stature… Criminal, degenerate, lowlife halfling scum. Pulling a flask from his jacket pocket, he uncorked and sipped its contents feeling a slow warming sensation slide down his throat and coat his stomach. Somehow the bourbon was doing far more to keep this bitter cold away than any of this fur had, which begs to question, what sort of drinking establishments would they have in such a flashy town like this… Hopefully, he’d be able to find something to fit his tastes~ There were more pressing issues at hand though and he had to remain focused until his business was concluded.

Nearing the capitol, the guards split off, bringing their prisoner down a side entrance to get him stashed in his new home. Mash’al was waved along to follow the grouping of counselors through the main entrance where he was escorted down a series of corridors to an office,
“Wait here. Mr. Dragol will be with you momentarily.” the Ice Counselor instructed while shutting him in the office and returning to whatever business it was he had to see to. It intrigued him that they would so willingly leave him in this office all by himsel-

The door opened and in stepped a guard armed with a spear who bowed as an acknowledgment of his presence, then made his way to the corner to oversee his activities while Mr. Dragol wrapped up his marital situation. While he waited though, Mash’al walked the perimeter of the man’s office. Lots of books… to his surprise most of them had to do with weapons, fighting styles, various cultures, the history of Zena and its settlements. There were some books on trade, but not as many as he’d expected from a man running a world trade enterprise. This… did not bode well for him.
