He is strict when it comes to problems and carries wisdom on his shoulder in which he is willing to share with others. His intelligence is something he quite often uses against others. He is very straightforward to people, he finds no need to sugarcoat anything, instead keeps it blunt. He also can come across as rather detached, and sometimes threatening when need be. Ezra is usually quite humble unless the situation calls for him to act the opposite. Though his appearance says otherwise he is actually quite caring and considerate. He is someone who is nurturing and kind to others (behind closed doors), even to the point of offering advice and counsel. Ezra can be quite apathetic and cynical at times, he has seen the truth to many lies and sometimes is led to believe that most individuals may not be truly genuine. ↳ Ezra is the first-born child of the Smythe family. His mother Annalise was a Diviner, while his father Leon was a Celebrar. His father was a strong and feared man amongst the people of Norfolk who had heard of him. People most generally heard of him as a contributor to the quaint and prosperous town. While many assumed as a Celebrar that he was an intimidating and manipulative type of man; behind closed doors he was a gentle family man. The Smythe family, though many were hesitant to approach them, were well respected. At a young age, Ezra was always quite hushed and diligent. In fact, he used his time to take his intelligence to a whole new level. When he wasn't training or doing his duties that his father gave, he often had his nose in a book and wrote out thoughts and ideas.
Ezra first discovered his abilities at the age of five. There had been word of a thief going around the town. On one autumn day, a few suspects were caught. Ezra was in town with his father to see who the individual causing such uneasiness. During the questioning of one of them, Ezra found himself listening in. The man had denied all claims, but for some reason the young boy could see right through him. Ezra found himself pushing through the crowd to find himself in front of the accused male. That was the moment that Ezra, with a deadpan face, revealed the truth about the male and started spewing out things from his past, his fears, and his wrong doings. The man looked at the young red head in absolute fear as he was taken away to be locked up. His father Leon quickly grabbed Ezra and fled home, knowing that this was something the town would be speaking of. From that day on, he aided in town's safety. If someone was suspected of something or there was a mystery on hand, they would bring the young boy in to help resolve problems. Since he was young, he didn't understand much about his ability and the reality of those corrupt individuals who live in a pool of lies.
It wasn't until he made became close to a group of people that his view on things would change. What turned into any normal childhood friendship with some of his father's possible colleagues flipped into a crime where the criminals had escaped. When Leon questioned Ezra about not being able to see through them and their facade, Ezra could only look at him dumbstruck. Sure, he had felt unsure about some of his friend's actions and he wanted to see through what they were saying to him, but for some reason because he felt like there was a sense of loyalty and trust, it was as if he couldn't. He saw that even if there was still a connection or some type of friendship toward someone else, that in the end there was always a possibility that they could betray you. Remembering the hurt and the disappointment of his father on that day, he grew detached from others, burying himself in books and training his abilities.
His family urged him to attend the Academy of Grand Magic at age eighteen. Little by little, he began to slowly open up and become friends with those who made an effort to approach him and get to know him. By graduation, since he was confident in his abilities, he became a professor at the academy he once attended. He spends his time sharing his knowledge and watching over his students.
