This is where Lerato Sanchez is currently living after graduating from the academy. One may say that it’s his sanctuary, the reprieve from his stressful job as one of the Court Mages of the Academy. It is a spacious cottage-style house, fit mostly for himself, but he may like to bring a guest along or two.

[ - Begin Interaction for New RP Day - ]

Having spent the day before just hanging out with his sister, talking about the last few years, spending quality time and reassuring her that no, he wouldn’t sneak off to seek divine retribution, Gin felt that it was time to get Rin ready for her admittance to the Academy. Each student was required to apply and interview to be admitted to the school, and Rin had yet to apply or be interviewed by either Gannon or Lerato.

Gannon had been busy recently, or so Gin told himself as he got ready that morning. He told himself that the only reason why he was going to take Rin to interview with Lerato was because Gannon was busy and had enough to deal with. While this was entirely accurate, Gin had no idea that he was so right. Having not been to the Academy since the Graduation Ceremony, he had no for sure way of knowing what Gannon was currently dealing with on campus. In any case, he wouldn’t admit it to his sister, but he wanted to see Lerato…

After leaving home, Gin had taken Rin straight to the Academy, showing her the most direct ways to get to the school while warning her to stay away from Eoana Forest, for her own safety. He reiterated how people had gone missing and how some had been found murdered as well, after going into the woods alone.

Upon arriving at the Academy, they’d gone straight to Lerato’s office only to find it locked. After searching the campus, whilst simultaneously giving his sister the grand tour, they realized that Lerato wasn’t currently on the school grounds. Which meant there was only one more place they could look – his home. Gin had some reservations about seeking out the Court Mage at his residence, but Rin really did need to have her interview.

Leading Rin back into town, they headed for the housing district. It took them a while, but they eventually found Lerato’s house. Clearing his throat a little, suddenly a bit nervous, which was stupid and way out of character for him, Gin raised his hand and knocked three times on the door. All they could do now was wait and hope that Mr. Sanchez was home…

~ Catherine arrives at Lerato's home (New Day) ~

Yesterday was a slight rollercaoster after the little discovery of Rin's scar. But at the very least she was relieved knowing her brother would not act on it until a day where their family directly provokes them. But that is no longer important for the time being, right now they had other, more important plans. With the Academy's break coming to its end Rin had to hurry and get herself enrolled, thus Gin and her woke up rather early to speak with one of the faculty. Which one though? The girl was not sure, having not even set foot in the Academy since the graduation ceremony.

After a little wandering back and forth between the Academy and the Housing District they had ended up at another house, according to Gin this was where one of the staff lived, who went by the name "Lerato." Rin looked around the building with a cautious expression, it kinda looked like a home for somebody who preferred living by themselves... But then again that's likely just her overthinking it. As they approached, Rin spoke up. "So what does this guy te...ach..?" Her voices trailed off as she couldn't help but notice her brothers nervous expression. Was he afraid? Nah... Can't be.

She had a hunch, one which formed a childish smile on the Shifters face, Rin decided to test that hunch... A subtle remark, see whether or not her brother will answer on instinct... The girl shuffled closer to her brother and asked. "Bet he's a nice guy." Rin hid the smile on her face while they simple waited by the door for a reply from its inhabitant.

                                        -- Day Flip --

The hours that went by after the sudden revelation had been unsettling, to be put frankly. Lerato was speechless, overwhelmed by the memories, while Lelyna’s friend bolted off from the infirmary with Gannon calling out his name, the female fae crying for the death of her friend. The banging sound on the student’s way out of the area startled the musician, forcing him to look at the now empty spot, before hanging his head down. After some time, Lerato had stood up from his chair, giving condolences for the fae’s departure to the other side, before leaving the infirmary so that he could have at least something to eat and continue on with his work. He ended up heading home after a long day in his office, putting a sign that mentioned that he would unavailable the day after, using a horse-drawn cart as the transportation on the way there. Once he was in his adobe, he ate his dinner, having to freshen up a bit and wear his pajamas before falling asleep.

But his slumber had been anything but peaceful. The nightmare plagued his head, the memories of the deceased fae revealed through Lelyna’s raiment resurfacing once again. This time, it was if he was in there, at the wasteland that was once the lively faerie village, the aftermath of the incident. Shriveled tree branches and roots circulated the area, and Lerato reached out to touch a branch that was near his hand. Unfortunately, it disintegrated even with just a gentle poke of his index finger. A voice called out to him, and when the court mage looked around, the male fae who was the sole survivor was the only one beside him. But as Lerato was about to ask something, the fae’s expression became gloomy, and the body and wings withered slowly, a lifeless corpse that was now nothing else but a fragile memento of such cruel fate. The skull-like face stared at Lerato, eye sockets boring into his skull, before withering away into oblivion.

Lerato had woken up with a start at the crack of dawn because of that, cold sweat breaking out of his skin and he placed a hand on his chest in an attempt to calm himself down. He had tried to fall asleep again, but it was no use; the weight of the nightmare prevented him from resuming his slumber. Because of that, he rose from the bed mechanically, taking a shower and dressing up in something suitable for his indoor stay at the house, before preparing breakfast with the groggy look on his face. It was nothing spectacular, a simple fare of eggs and sausages together with bread, but at least the hot tea was the beverage, chamomile suitable for calming down the nerves. It wasn't that much, but better than nothing.

He was eating a piece of the sausage in the dining area near the living room when the front door was knocked. Keeping the utensils on the plate, the court mage sauntered to the door. Who could be visiting his house at a time like that? Stifling a yawn, he turned the knob and pulled the frame, only to notice that shifter from the graduation ceremony, the one actually taking notice of his appearance. But the young boy was not alone; the girl accompanying him, possibly his sister, was near him. Lerato’s smile was weak as he regarded their presence, worn out but trying to be approachable. “Good morning. What brings you both here to my lovely adobe?”

Gin, nervous and a little excited, wasn’t thinking when he answered his sister’s little quip. “Yeah, he is, I mean, I haven’t had a lot of interactions with him, but he’s always been friendly…” He smiled a little, only then realizing that his sister was looking up at him in amusement. Blushing a little, he growled lightly before nudging her with his hip and lightly whipping her with his tail. Shaking his head a little bit, he waited for the door to open.

Just when it seemed that Lerato might not be home, Gin heard faint footsteps through the door. Moments later, the door opened to reveal a casual, yet tired looking Lerato. Gin took in the Court Mage’s appearance for a moment before he nodded at the man’s words.

“Sorry to bother you, Mr. Sanchez. My sister, Rin, wanted to speak to you about applying for the Academy. She hasn’t had a chance to meet with you or Gannon yet.” While it would have been more comfortable to meet with Gannon, since the two has more of a teacher/student relationship, Gin told himself that Lerato was the better choice. Why, well, he wasn’t going to think about that too hard…

“But, if you’re busy, we can come back…?” For all he knew Lerato had company – family, friends, a lover… The man certainly looked exhausted. ‘I knew it, this was a stupid idea.’ Gin thought, mentally kicking himself, his ears turning back with irritation as he averted his gaze to the side.

Rin chuckled to herself victoriously, seems her brother has a bit more interest in the Court Mage that he'd admit. A quick flinch was all she did in response to his nudging, but the childish smile remained for a while longer during their wait before returning to a neutral expression.

Eventually there were movements from inside the house, followed by a tired male opening the door to greet them. Catherine positioned herself somewhat behind her brother while she stared at the man. Why did the smile seem... Forced? Her gaze was focused on Lerato while he and Rin's brother spoke about her applying for the academy. Something was telling the girl though that this man may might be in the mood right now, and she spoke up as well. "It can wait if you want... Mr. Sanchez?" She now wondered if they would be better off searching for this "Gannon" person.

Rin looked up at Gin with a concerned look, watching her brothers ears turn back, something was bothering him as well... She had to wonder what was wrong with the pair of them, but didn't want to make her concerns obvious. Conflicted, she remained silent.

Lerato was trying his best to blink away the sleepiness from his eyes; the words about the interview gradually percolated in his head. “Mmmmm... the interview, you say? Normally, I would refuse, but since you two went all the way to come here, I will make an exception. Now, you two can make yourselves comfortable by sitting down.” With that, he gestured the two to the chairs in the dining area in which the two would wait while he returned with a pot of chamomile tea and two extra cups. The tea was still warm as he poured the liquid into the cups, putting the pot aside afterwards, before sitting down. “Before you two came by, there had been more pressing issues for the higher-ups to deal with, me included, hence my current state. Apologies for the inconvenience.”

The court mage just couldn't let them know about what happened back in the infirmary, especially the shocking revelation about the fae village. Hence, he tried to explain as vaguely as possible; he wouldn't want to let more people be involved in that situation. Lelyna had been unconscious, her friend had sprinted far away from the scene because of being distraught, and Lerato had a hunch that her beloved prince, the princess' half-brother, would be so enraged at the news. No, he had to keep the others away from such dangerous information, at least for now.

“Anyway, back to business. I have to admit that you and your sister are quite lovely shifter specimens. Being mostly alike,” he eyed both of them with curiosity. “How about we start off with the introduction, at least for this girl who may soon become the student just like her brother?”

Gin hadn’t expected Lerato to let them in, not when he looked ready to collapse on the spot. But it seemed that their efforts to seek him out had won his favor. Looking to Rin, he gave her a little smile before stepping inside of the house, leading his sister to the designated area where Lerato wanted them to sit. Taking a seat – the one not right next to the Court Mage – Gin waited for Lerato to return, surprisingly with tea for them all. Taking a cup with a small word of ‘thanks’, Gin found he was grateful for something to distract him from the Court Mage.

Nodding at Lerato’s cryptic words, Gin sipped his tea and remained silent. It wasn’t his place to meddle with faculty business, especially if it put enough strain on the Court Mage to leave him looking wrung out like this. If Gin needed to know, then Gia or Ven would tell him – or he’d have a vision about it. Until then, he’d choose to remain ignorant of the subject.

As Lerato turned the subject back to the task at hand, Gin found himself blushing deeply at Lerato’s compliment. ‘Quite lovely specimens’ was an odd way of putting it, but then again non-shifters were always curious about those who could change into animals – it was just human nature. Clearing his throat a little, Gin pretended that his cheeks hadn’t turned a slight shade of dusky pink, thanks to his naturally tan complexion, as he looked to Rin. “That’s your cue…” He whispered with a very brotherly nudge before glancing back to Lerato, almost shyly, which was very out of character for the shifter.

Suprisingly, the Court Mage seemed fine with allowing the siblings into his home... Rin followed them to the dining area where they'd take a seat, the girl being next to her brother, naturally. During the initial wait Rin payed close attention to Gin's behaviour... To her it wasn't exactly hard to tell what was making him nervous. Her ears flickered to life upon hearing Lerato return, offering them some tea to which Rin gave a slight sulk, she wasn't fond of tea, or hot drinks in general. Lerato then started talking, mostly bringing up the fact he was interested in the Shifter siblings before the spotlight was given to Rin herself. "Eh..?" She uttered, ears curling as she looked down to think for a short period.

Her head and ears shot up again as she'd speak up, her red gaze focused on the Court Mage. "Weeell... My name is Catherine! Well, um, Catherine Enzo... Of the uh, Enzo... Family... I suppose I already just said that." She grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of her head with one hand. "I kind of just got into Eoana a few days ago... I guess... During that Graduation Ceremony? You uh, might have seen me." Even she felt a slight embarassment as she realised she was basically her brothers bagpack that day.

Unsure how else to continue without rambling Rin glanced over to her big brother, taking note of his continued nervous behaviour. It was a rare sight to her and she intended to make sure he remembered it. Practically blurting out her next little comment. "Gee, what's ruffling your fur bro?" She leaned a little in Gin's direction, putting on a pure poker face as she spoke again, almost singing it. "Or perhaps, who's ruffling your fur~?" The girl held her expression for a couple seconds before sitting up again and returning to her usual victorious grin.

The poor male shifter was embarrassed as hell, Lerato could tell by the way the cheeks flushed pink at the compliment. But nonetheless, he listened to the introduction from Rin, being from the Enzo clan. “Ah, yes. Heard such rumors from the family name, though only a few from the word of mouth, and even from one book that I read.” His knowledge about oracle families was limited and there was more that he had to unveil about them, but that would wait. One step at a time. “Pardon me if I get to notice you fully just now. But I can tell that every graduate that appeared back in the ceremony was known to be full of loved ones who are so proud of them.” He then cleared his throat, having to restraint himself from rambling too much in the past, apart from preventing the sister from teasing the graduate even further.

Ah, such sibling bonds. But such fun times would wait. Maybe once the interview would be done for, he would like to roam around the streets with them, or whatever those two would like to do for fun. All for the sake of distracting such negative thoughts in his head, the flashing images of the memories of the faerie genocide.

“So, what kind of animal you can shift into, Rin?” he asked the young girl. Despite the fact that the two were similar, the animals they were associated with as part of their genes may be of a different story.

Gin growled a little at the fact that Rin still referred to herself as an ‘Enzo’. It wasn’t that she wasn’t one or that he didn’t think she deserved to carry the name, it was the fact that their former family had always scorned her and thus the name ‘Enzo’ didn’t sit well with Gin. He’d much prefer her to take a different last name, a unique one or maybe someday, she’d allow Ven and Gia to adopt her too. He could only hope…

Lerato didn’t seem to mind that fact that Rin had acted like his backpack during the graduation ceremony, even though it had been a bit unorthodox. Smiling a little bit at that, Gin sipped his tea and remained silent and a bit aloof.

As the conversation progressed, Gin felt his nervousness ebb and rise. If he distracted himself with the tea or the words that Rin said, he was fine, but the moment Lerato spoke or glanced at him, Gin was felt the butterflies come back. To make matters worse, Rin was fully aware of his odd behavior and taking the opportunity to poke fun of him in front of Lerato. Little brat.

Narrowing his gaze a little, he smirked. “That would be…you! Leaning in, he reached his arm around to get her in a playful headlock. He ruffled her hair a little before letting go. Looking to Lerato, he shrugged a little. “I’ll give you two some space. It’s clear I’m a bit of a distraction…” Gin said as he arose from his seat. Pushing his chair back in, he took his cup of tea with him before heading out of the room.

He stopped by the kitchen area to leave his now empty cup before he shifted into his wolf form. Leisurely walking out of the kitchen, he decided to lay down by the door. From there he still had a line of sight to Lerato and Rin and with his keen shifter hearing, he could pick up every word they said as they continued the interview. He just hoped Rin behaved herself…

Rin failed to prepare herself for her brother’s sudden counterattack, wiggling about like a fish out of water to try and free herself from the headlock. She'd giggle about let out slight squeals for the next couple seconds before she was let loose. The girl shook her head frantically, so her hair wouldn't stay too messy after the abuse. "Th... This isn't over!"The young Shifter called out while her brother left the room for her and Lerato to finish the interview. Her eyes returned to the Mage and her expression shifted, growing more relaxed. "Well um, I'm kind of like my... Fa... Family... But at the same time, not really?" Rin was hesitant to use that word, to actually call them family left a sour taste in her mouth. Regardless, she continued. "I'm more of a dog than a wolf... Specifically, I'm a Husky. I could um... Show you, if you want sir?" Catherine would suggest to him, right now she would only take animal form if she were requested to. Otherwise she was too comfy on her seat to do so of her own initiative.

Her ears shot up, realizing her own nervous behavior and quickly growing irritated by it. Rin's gaze grew livelier as she suddenly asked the male. "What exactly do you do at the Academy? Are you a math teacher or something?" She was clearly a little oblivious to the way the Academy ran, having only been in the place for a very short period of time and even then, it was during an event rather than a normal day. Come to think of it, she didn't really know what she was signing up for, Rin only intended to go because her big brother did. Though the more she actually sat and thought about it, the more she found herself curious to see some of the other people that attended there...

There it went again with the sibling playfulness between the two. Internally, Lerato found that touching, though it was a shame that he was the only child in his family. There was the princess with her sibling as well, the royal kids that would soon become the king and queen of Valor. When the male was leaving the kitchen, Lerato simply let him, though internally, he felt a bit bummed out. Best that the business would be done for less distractions along the way; there would be some catching up to do later. With him and Rin alone in the kitchen, the interview was commencing. There was the hesitance about her description about her so-called family, and the court mage linked his hands together. “Well, what matters in the family is love, having people who care about you despite the circumstances.” That was all he could comment about such ties; not all families were biological, even in the land such as Eoana.

At the description about her raiment, a small smile curled up his lips. “Ah, that's interesting, something I never heard of from before.” Dogs were unheard of, at least for the court mage himself, as he had never had a pet before. Though when Rin questioned about his position, that was when he frowned, a pout forming on his lips. “You got the answer wrong, young lady. I'm also a court mage like Gannon, though I also am the substitute Music professor. To be exact, we have the maximum of three court mages in the academy, but the third slot is currently vacant, so for now, it's Gannon and I taking in the roles to ensure that the academy is in good hands.”

In fact, there were a few major incidents occurring so far; first, the explosion, then the revelation that the faerie village was now nothing else but history. But Lerato had eschewed that fact from Rin. She didn't need to know about the painful past, more so when she would follow the footsteps of her brother soon enough.

“Now, right onto the demonstration of your shifter abilities. I do have a rightful place for that. We can take that outside at the backyard if that will be okay for you,” that was what he suggested, relaxing his facial muscles a bit; if there were other traits related to her raiment that needed to be shown, the interior decorations had to be spared.

Gin chuckled at Rin’s question – was Lerato a Math teacher? Haha! She was such a silly girl…and he loved her just the way she was and that was what mattered. Lerato seemed surprised by Rin’s assessment and assumption that he was a Math Teacher, but he set her straight, explaining his position and role in the Academy so that she understood that she was being interviewed by one of two people in charge at the Academy.

Resting his face on his paws, he watched and listened as Lerato and Rin talked. Rin seemed a little reluctant to show Lerato her shifted form, possibly due to the scar he’d discovered only yesterday, but as the pair moved outside, Gin followed but kept his distance, observing from afar. Rin’s shifted form, her Husky form, was as beautiful as he’d remembered. She was smaller than a wolf, but she was agile, not to mention the fastest runner he’d ever seen. Her stamina was unmatched – she could literally run for hours.

Once Lerato seemed satisfied with the demonstrations, the pair came back inside for a few more questions, during which time Gin had resumed his place near the door in his wolf form. Although Gin wouldn’t realize it until later, during most of the interview, he wasn’t keeping an eye on his sister – he was keeping his eye on Lerato.

Although Gin’s heart was still very much broken, he found that he liked Lerato. He hardly knew him, yes, but Lerato was kind and thoughtful, intelligent and charming…and he was nice to look at. For now, that was all Gin needed – someone to admire from afar. A little crush never hurt, if anything it was a sign that his heart was slowly healing after Sokea’s disappearance.

As the interview concluded, Gin shifted back to his human form. Giving Rin a wink, he gave Lerato a little bow, a forward tilt of the head in respect. “Sorry for taking up so much of your time, Sir. Thank you for conducting the interview for her.” After Rin said her thanks as well, the pair left Lerato’s home and headed back to Gia’s place. Gin hoped that Rin’s application would be accepted and that she would continue her education at the Academy, where he could keep and eye on her.

The demonstration was later conducted in the backyard, and Lerato watched carefully at Rin's abilities at her animal form. Definitely, the dog breed was special, and not to be messed with, more so when the legs were used to running around even in difficult regions. Quite an advantage, more so when having to make a quick runaway at some point. All he could say was that he was quite impressed, and she would have some room for improvement once she would become a student. However, the court mage had a hunch that he was being watched, and it might be mostly because of something else other than the interview. No, he shouldn't jump into conclusions just yet.

When the shifter siblings were about to leave, he smiled. “Not a problem, and have a great day to you as well,” he spoke as he waved at them goodbye. And he closed the door, finally having some time for himself. As the court mage retreated to his bedroom, he couldn't help but wonder what would happen next after he would get some more sleep. He deserved that, after all, especially with the nightmare plaguing him this early morning before the siblings dropped by. But still, the picture of the blushing face, the one from Rin's brother, was something that he found really hard to ignore. Something that he would find weird yet interesting.
