We have come to land where sun shall never rise We have run to world where time and life tell only lies Rise above to lightless stars, the path long gone and lost to night Hello fate of bleak goodbye Waters rage where fires die
All will fall in barren ruins of deepest night Forever gone shall be our warrior’s might Hope inside is lost alas, and furthermore solemnity passed Sorrows rot away alone Hallowed souls must mourn the throne
Ancient Winds have whisked away Lasting Wanderers lost astray Eternal night foregoes the fray Remaining left to kingless grave Prideless end arrives this day
Sacred calls hide tragic chants Beyond dying Wanderers’ laments Freedom prayers, the Fallen beget Dusty remains, a lonely ascent Few survive 'mongst lost and bent
“Harrowed love and broken bone, sky above and star of home, Wanderers forever left behind, wish and pray for peace to find. Restless night of Fallen’s doom impedes upon beginning new.”
Fallen bestow gaping wound Kingdom lies in whispered ruin Hushed, the voice of nobles rise Their dying words foretell goodbye Of midnight’s reign, a ruthless lie
“Beyond this glade and pale night’s shade lay souls all starved for broken ray.”
Shattered wind and silence rise Give these Wanderers one reprise Sunlight splay this ancient night Return to all thine Warrior’s might
Fallen ravage land beneath Peaceful bodies now bequeathed ‘Way from Ancient Wind which reaps Graceful hopes left to decease
Final cries Hopeless reprise
All Wanderers sing Toward harmonious light
Shining rays Break through the night And souls ascend To king once more
“Sing our song now lost to lore”
We have come to land where sun shall never rise We have run to world where time and life tell only lies Rise above to lightless stars, the path long gone and lost to night Hello fate of bleak goodbye Waters rage where fires die
All have fallen in barren ruins of deepest night Forever gone is our warrior’s might Hope inside is lost alas, and furthermore solemnity passed Sorrows rot away alone Hallowed souls now mourn the throne
“Break of day and breath of wind, guide us home to bitter end. Days we mourn for none shall live yonder Fallen’s might of Ancient Wind. Graceless death and peace astray leaves memories of the Wanderer’s days. Sun forgotten shines, alas; we leave laments of life now past.”

My first mellodeath song, and it was inspired by Caladan Brood.
The Wanderers are peaceful, immortal beings, but only so many existed when the world was made. Their purpose was to spread peace, yet the Fallen arose to spread destruction with their Ancient Wind which turned the Wanderers to dust. First they took out the Wanderers' king, then whoever they could find. This song follows the journey, ending in the sad extinction and lifting of the Wanderers to a land of peace with their king as the world starts anew, their existence simply lore now as the Fallen dominate.

I spied this in my DA watch notifications and am only just getting about to reading it. (I'm a horrible person, I know.) This is really good! I imagine it more as an epic poem in the vein of old bard-sung tales like Beowulf, or like Dante's epics, his Inferno being the first to come to mind since it's the only one I've read. After reading this one, I'll admittedly probably be a lot quicker to read any other pieces of yours that pop up in my notifications now, I adore your style and the flow of the piece.

Ahh no don't feel bad!! It's fine (tbh I don't even bother looking at any watch deviations anymore lol). Thank you very much!! biggrin A lot of my writings are inspired by bard-style music (in that they tell tales), so epics are mostly what I aim for! Glad to know I've achieved that part of writing! biggrin Thanks for taking an interest, too! emotion_hug
