The auditorium would soon be packed with students, both old and new since this would be another year for the princess to endure hours of training together with the typical classes. Catherine was in the mood to wear something casual but still retaining the decency necessary to her title as princess of Valor. Since the founding festival would soon be on the way, she would be enjoying the food; food would always there during such occasions and she was looking forward to that. But before that, the redhead had to endure sitting with commoners since not all people were of similar royal status as her. At least she had her ponytail on to keep her crimson locks in place.
The court mages would later show up for the speech; they were the ones mostly in charge through the operations of the academy, though there was one who had been on the job for just two years. But still, he wasn’t the one to be messed with, more so with his perfectionist attitude. Cathy had been the victim of his wrath several times, but she had grown to respect him throughout the years because of his history. There would still be trouble thanks to the ill-tempered woman. But at least her talent would speak for itself; she still had a long way to go to improve her skills, but her progress has been good so far.
Her crimson orbs scanned around, taking in each and every detail of the place. The princess was certain that the waiting game would be long, and she was starting to feel exasperated. Her urge to scream was strong like a scorching flame, but she had to behave, so she simply crossed her arms over her own chest, silently huffing. Why can’t they just hurry up and get started already?! She wondered in irritation, frowning. If the princess would sneak out of the place, that would be better, but for the sake of keeping her best behavior in the school, she had to endure the game.

•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×•×• X»»Opening his emerald eyes Antoine sat up and stretched his arms out with a yawn. He was laying on a branch that was part of a large tree right next to the auditorium building. Still groggy he turned his head to look down and called out the name of his pet, "Carla..." Although he spoke rather softly the dog's ears perked up at the sound of her name. She sat up straight and looked up into the tree thatch laid under, to the branch wherever owner sat. She barked once as if to inform Antoine of her presence and with that he smiled. "Good girl Carla. Just wanted to make sure you didn't wander off and get in trouble again," Antoine said as he pushed himself off the branch.
As he fell Carla took a few steps back to make room for his landing, and once Antoine's feet hit the ground a loud thud could be heard. He immediately reached out to Carla and ruffles her face with his two large hands. "Such a good girl Carla!" he said lovingly to the creature as he messed up her fur. The dog's tail wagged faster and faster until Antoine finally released her. With his touch gone the dog calmed down a bit.
Looking around Antoine noticed a few other students starting to gather around before cramming into the auditorium. The sight confused him and made him question if he had forgotten about some event. "Come on girl," he said to Carla before walking up to a random student and grabbing them gently on the shoulder. The student turned around quickly, and smacked Antoine's hand away. "You trying to fight!?" the student yelled as he held up his fists. "That wasn't my intention but maybe we can spare over nothing later on. I just wanted to know why everyone is rushing to the auditorium." The male student looked at Antoine as if he was an idiot before chuckling and lowering his fists. "Seriously? You don't know?" "Well if I did know it would be a waste of time to pull you aside like this and question you wouldn't it?" Antoine replied as he started to get a little sassy with the student. "It's the opening ceremony you fool. Everyone was notified about it," he replied. "Oh that's today! Guess my nap turned into a full night's rest. I thought it was still yesterday," Antoine replied as he laughed at his own foolishness. "Well guess there's no time to change. Oh well. See you around Mr. Anger Issues," Antoine said before quickly taking off into the auditorium.Leaving the other student behind before he could hear his reply.
As he rushed in Carla followed at his side. Antoine had gone through two other opening ceremonies before so he wasn't really excited for this one. He was more excited over the fact that he knew a festival would be taking place right after this whole boring event. He figured he could get into all sorts of mischief then. Just then Antoine couldn't help but to notice a certain redhead who look absolutely miserable. She stood out not only because of her bright hair but because she was one of the only students who looked pissed to be there. So Antoine, being the kind of guy he is, decided to approach her.
"Not looking forward to an hour or so of speech after speech?" he asked as he reached the part of the room where Catherine stood. "I wouldn't say I'm thrilled to be here either, but just think, there will be a huge festival after this. There I'm sure a pretty lady like you will find some sort of entertainment," Antoine assured her as his dog sat down by his side and looked up at Catherine curiously.

Lerato tucked a section of his long hair behind his ear, back pressed slightly against the section of one of the chairs in the backstage of the auditorium. All of the court mages would be present, though one of them would be the one giving the opening speech later. And since the festival was a special occasion, he had a good excuse to wear something formal and sleek. Right now, his outfit was almost all-black, though the cravat was a pristine white in contrast to most of the ensemble. Not to mention that his hair was also in a ponytail to keep the locks in place. The court mage, of course, had to look fabulous with that choice of hairstyle.
His eyes were looking around, reading the mood of the other court mages that would be present for the orientation. Lera spotted that one particular person who was catching his attention a bit too much than he should be. They were a clash of personalities; the musician was more flamboyant and straightforward than the other who was reserved, being an introvert that he always was. But at least that bird companion, the owl, was the constant companion. Lera made a mental note to bribe them both with sweets later during the festivities. Strawberry pies would be good since the creature was so fond of the fruit.
Smiling at the other court mage, Lera decided to break the ice with one simple conversation.“Feeling nervous, Gannon? It’s no worries; I know you are good at making speeches to keep the students entertained.” And he broke out a grin, a sign of self-confidence from the silver-haired man himself. “But of course, it's best to make it special since most students like to get cut to the chase.” He was still remembering the demeanor of that one particular princess who had been one of the constant headaches in the school, but her talent was nonetheless close to being spectacular.

Marisenn adjusted her spectacles as she put the final touches on her class notes. She didn't have to, but she had some time before she had to leave for the orientation and Mari thought it wouldn't hurt to go over them one last time. She prided herself on doing her best as a teacher after all, and that did not mean slacking off. Clearing up the table, Marisenn stood up and dusted herself off before glancing at the clock; she could still make it with plenty of time to spare.
Rather than heading straight for the auditorium, Marisenn took a detour to check one of the more isolated courtyards on campus where she found her suspicions rewarded. Her eyes narrowed and she strode forward to stand in front of Julia, who only looked up insolently from where she was lounging under the shade of a tree, chewing on her apple. "What?"
Marisenn gave her a flat stare, remaining silent for a couple moments. "I hope I won't have to fetch you every year," she finally spoke. "It is getting rather tiresome."
"Do I have to?" Julia whined, flopping dramatically against the tree. "It's always boring." But she sat up anyway, grumbling under her breath and Marisenn knew that she'd be coming despite her complaints, which relieved her more than she would admit. She loved her ward and she knew that Julia held her in high regards as well, but the girl was quite headstrong and there were times that Mari wasn't sure that she'd listen.
"I look forward to seeing you there," she smirked victoriously before turning to leave. Marisenn finally headed for the auditorium and if she walked a tad quicker than usual, well, there weren't many students paying attention to comment on it.
There were still plenty of empty seats on the stage and students were still filing in when Mari arrived and she used the commotion to discreetly take her seat, straightening her skirts to look immaculate as usual. Her appearance and demeanor was another thing she prided herself on and while people might call her vain, Marisenn knew that appearances were important despite what many claimed. Speaking of which, the orientation was going to start soon and there were far too many empty chairs surrounding her; she briefly wondered what it was that they were up to before mentally shrugging it off. Marisenn raised a hand to wave at the chairs, concentrating as she weaved a simple visual illusion which was quite easy to detect if one paid attention but was enough to make it look like most of the staff chairs were filled up. She could always ask if they were doing anything interesting, and they'd be delighted to know about the small favour she did them just now. A smirk grew on her face at the thought.

╔═══════════════════ Seated in his high-backed chair facing the auditorium that was slowly filling, Gannon waited patiently for the students and other faculty to arrive. He felt butterflies fluttering in his chest and stomach as he watched more and more students enter through the open double doors. While Gannon was a shy introvert by nature, as one of the three court mages of the Academy, he was expected to make the opening speech for the Orientation Ceremony. Normally it would have been someone charismatic like Lerato, but it was Gannon’s turn this year and he dreaded the experience with each passing moment.
Lerato Sanchez, his colleague and fellow court mage, sat next to him, looking calm and confident as he always did. A friendly, outgoing person, Lerato always looked confident in everything that he did. As colleagues, they often needed to discuss the Academy’s business and plan events such as these. Most of the time, it was Lerato who took the reins and made sure everything ran smoothly. Gannon offered his opinions and support of course, but sometimes he felt a bit underqualified for his position. He’d had his doubts for a while now actually. His skills were better suited for intelligence gathering, some would say Gannon made the perfect spy. But here he was, doing paperwork and looking after the next generation of raiment users.
Fluffing her feathers, a bit, Brageet shifted her weight from foot to foot as she moved a bit closer to his head. Her actions drew him out of the pity-party he’d been throwing himself in light of his coming speech. Chirping lightly, she nibbled Gannon’s hair affectionately, wanting attention. Smiling, Gannon reached up and gently caressed her breast feathers. ≪’I’m sleepy…this is taking too long.’≫ Brageet’s sultry voice echoed lightly in his mind. The use of his two-way telepathy did have its perks such as holding a conversation with someone in a room full of people with no one being the wiser.
Letting out a little huff, Brageet leaned against Gannon’s head, cuddling with him. ≪’I know, my love. But we need to be patient. Once this is all over we will enjoy the rest of the day outside.’≫ Continuing to caress Brageet’s feathers, he turned his attention toward Lerato, who and turned to speak to him. He was surprised by Lerato’s compliment and had to wonder where it had come from. To his knowledge he’d only had to give one speech before, years ago, and it hadn’t gone as well as Lerato was claiming. But, his advice was appreciated.
“Thank you for the advice, Lerato. I’ll try my best.” He said with a small smile and a little nod. Gannon was a man of few words and usually only said what he needed to say to get his point across. According to Brageet, he could be quite chatty when using two-way telepathy, but that was a different, more intimate form of communication in his opinion. He could choose whom he spoke to in that manner, while anyone could just walk up and start asking questions.
Glancing at Lerato out of the corner of his eye, he noted the man’s outfit. He looked dressed for a grand event, which in turn made him wonder if he’d under dressed. Glancing down at his clothes, he suddenly felt another way over nerves roll through him. Yet again, he couldn’t help but wish that Lerato was the one giving the speech.
≪’You are going to be fine, Gan. Quit worrying.’≫ Brageet said before nipping at his ears and hair affectionately. Smiling slightly, he felt a bit better about the speech. ≪’That’s easy for you to say, you just have to sit on my shoulder looking beautiful as always.’≫ But she was right, he just needed to give the basic information and answer any questions, then he and Brageet could leave and enjoy the rest of the day on their own. There were the festival activities at the city center afterward, but he had little interest in them. Not a fan of crowds or loud places, a festival was the last place he wanted to be. Correction, standing in front of that podium was the last place he wanted to be.

Catherine overlapped one of her pant-clad legs over the other, eyes cast to the ceiling as she kept on waiting for the speech to begin. A frown was forming on her lips, though she blew a raspberry, a way to take a breath. It was then that someone, a male, came by to talk to her. The princess raised an eyebrow quizzically, watching each and every detail of his outfit. Casual clothes, with the appearance of a male dancer, and even having a dog to accompany him. Definitely not someone she had known that much, even with the occasional interaction.
"The only reason why I'm looking forward to the festival is the food, and that's it," her answer was clear and short, to prove a point that it was all she could think about and not actually interested with the dance and music ensemble from the commoners. Once she would be satisfied with the food, she would quickly leave and resume with the training back in her castle. And she even took notice of the dog that was Antoine's companion. "And your pet better be not doing any funny business while the speech is on going." If Carla would be running around and mess with any of the court mages, that would be a bad sign.
And after the talk, Catherine saw both the botany teacher and another student coming in to attend the speech. Plus, there was Griselda, someone with the similar knit as hers and definitely waiting for the talk between her and Antoine to finish. Her smile was faint as she spoke to the other female. "Hey there, Griselda. Ready to get bored with the speech also?" Sure enough, the three of them would feel the similar way. But luckily, the wait didn't have to be that long, as someone would finally be there to show up at the podium for the much-awaited speech.

He had become a master at faking a smile and was able to maintain his composure even though on the inside he felt kind of irritated. "Well there certainly will be plenty of food," he replied calmly. Inside he was thinking, Is everyone just in a b*tchy mood today? Jeez.
Something about the way Catherine spoke though really struck Antoine. She didn't speak in the rough way the jerk earlier did to him. It was more like she seemed to have something about her that suggested she was all high and mighty, and Antoine couldn't stand people like that. His irritation only seemed to grow as Catherine commented about Carla. Carla was his family, although he didn't expect people to understand that. He had no one, had nothing. No mother, no father, no home to call his own. All he has had for years is Carla, so he wouldn't tolerate someone treating her like a beast. "No need to worry about Carla here. She only ever does what I tell her to do," Antoine said with a smirk that spelled trouble. It was as if he was subtly suggesting that he might order Carla to misbehave, but without those words being said out loud Catherine really had nothing on him.
Before much else could be said Catherine turned to look past Antoine to another redheaded girl who was apparently named Griselda. In that moment a little joke popped into Antoine's mind, and he couldn't help but to say it out loud. "Calling your own dog to come? What a good thing she must be. Does she bark and roll over on command too?" he asked Catherine with a small chuckle.

As soon as the student body started to move towards the auditorium, Julia bolted. She always disliked the orientation and did her best to avoid it and she wasn't about to do any different this year. She thought that she had a small chance of actually succeeding this year; she'd already used this hiding spot behind the greenhouses to avoid the orientation during her first year and surely Marisenn wouldn't check a failed hiding spot first, right? Apparently, Julia was mistaken, and she pouted at Marisenn's back as she walked away, irritated by the smug she could feel radiating from the older woman. After the first year when she nearly missed the orientation, the professor made it her duty to ensure Julia's attendance at important events, much to her exasperation. She didn't see the point of going every year, especially since she was always along in the area reserved for her knit, and while Julia didn't mind being alone, the orientation was especially boring without anyone to bug.
As soon as Marisenn disappeared from her view, Julia relaxed back against tree, leisuring eating her apple. Just because she had to go there didn't mean she had to do it immediately. She took her time before finally getting up, yawning and shaking the stiffness out of her limbs before grudgingly dragging her feet towards the auditorium. The crowd of students already present when she arrived didn't bother Julia; the Tenebraer section had a grand population of one in the last two years she'd attended so overcrowding was never an issue. Sadly, that also meant that she couldn't get away with sleeping because there was no one for Julia to hide behind or to draw attention away from her. Julia made herself comfortable in a seat as far away from the stage as she could manage before twisting her hand. A few small bones flew out of her bag and Julia busied herself with making little animals out of them in lieu of paying attention to the faculty. It was certainly a more entertaining pastime than failing to stay awake for the rest of the event.

▼Voice ▼Where: Auditorium ▼Thoughts: Uwah! So many people!
XXXThe black and silver haired girl would timidly walk through the doors to the auditorium, the light rustling of paper coming from her hand as the wind from the outside shifted it slightly. "So many people!" she thought to herself. She would sigh in relieve at seeing all the people, the gathering proving that she found the right location as she nervously glanced down at the paper again just to make sure. Orientation in Auditorium, DONT BE LATE! it would read. With the constant muttering and noises of the other students and teachers conversing, Erin would timidly walk around on the outside of the crowd -her ears tucked down in a cowardly position, whilst her tail was almost dead and lifeless...clearly nervous. Another slight disadvantage that shifters had to the eyes of others...they literally wore their emotions on the outside. Those with tails and ears could easily be figured at what mood they were in due to the perkiness of the ears or fluid and happy movements of the tail.
The ever occasional eyes of students would drift over her, followed by a sort of laugh, at only what Erin could figure was her pitiful look of and timid persona. Eventually she would find her way over to a chair on the outside of the social circle. It would creak slightly at the sudden movement or the pressure of being used...all most as if it hadn't been touched in years. "Uhah." she would sigh as she finally escaped the eyes of her onlookers, her golden and blue eye scanning over the room. Erin herself wasn't totally sure what it was that she was suppose to do once she was here, as she was just handed the small paper and told to go to the Auditorium, so she was just hopeful that she didn't do anything wrong.

The court mage smiled at Gannon for believing his words. He knew that Gannon wasn't the type to be speaking in front of other people, but just for this one event, he had to at least try. Lera could sense that there was uneasiness from the crowd, but mostly from the students since they wanted to have this done already. Thankfully, his training with his raiment wasn't for naught, the gift that he had chiseled for years. He picked up his clarinet case and settled it on the table, unlocking it to reveal the gift handed to him by his parents when he first enrolled into the academy. A smile crept up his face at the plan to set up the mood before Gannon's speech.
It wasn't long before he started performing, the trills being melodic and exuberant, as he played his clarinet. The performance was short, but it was enough to set up the positive atmosphere for the orientation. With a graceful bow, he ended the small play and approached the podium, welcoming and thanking the students for showing up, his voice clear and crisp. His eyes took note of the princess for one minute before resuming the speech. And finally, Gannon was called out to deliver the speech.
His eyes were locked onto him, together with a nod. An indication that it was his cue. And Lera stepped aside to give the other court mage enough space to breathe, sitting down on one of the chairs situated on stage. He would pretend that he was not watching the other closely so that the owl owner wouldn't feel so nervous.

╔═══════════════════ Despite his lack of sleep, Gin actually felt like he had energy for once. Today was the day – Erin’s first day at the Academy. Finally. It had been four years since he’d left home to attend the Academy. Four years since he’d seen his precious little sister. Although he was excited beyond belief to see her again, he felt nervous too. When he’d still lived at home, he had acted as Erin’s protector. His family was not kind to her, in any sense of the word. He could only imagine what they had done to her in his absence. He’d spoken with his parents before he’d left, expressing his wish for them to at least treat her with some degree of consideration, for his sake. He doubted they’d kept their word. The pack didn’t take kindly to weaklings – not that Erin was weak. Gin would never have used that word to describe his little sister. No, she was the strongest shifter any of them had ever seen. But without the ability to take on a beast form, she was shunned by all, despite her considerable strength. They were all fools.
Going up on his tip toes, his ears perked forward and his tail swished with impatience as students filed past him to walk into the Auditorium. He looked over all their heads to look for his little sister, but he couldn’t spot her. He knew that she’d likely changed over the last four years since he’d seen her. When he left, she’d been a little girl, still growing into her ears. But she was fifteen now, and he had no doubt that she’d grown into a lovely young woman in his absence. But he wouldn’t be sure until he saw her. ‘Please let her be alright.’ He wasn’t naïve. There was always the possibility that she wasn’t coming or that something had prevented her from coming. But he was ever hopeful. He wanted to see his sister again, his most precious person.
A few of the students seemed to snicker at him as they passed. Gin, not one to take s**t from underlings, lowered back down onto his heels before turning his mismatched eyes toward the offender. “You want a piece? Or should I just take a chunk out of you?” He growled, his fangs flashing as he snarled his words. The students in the immediate vicinity, not just the offender, stepped back a few paces to put some distance between them before scurrying inside to find their seats. Scoffing at them, he lifted his lip in a sneer. “I didn’t think so.” Students knew not to mess with him, but there was always that one guy that wanted to try to impress his friends. They never liked the results of getting on his bad side.
Gin was just about to give up when he heard the sultry notes of a clarinet drift out the double doors. Turning to look inside, he knew this was his cue to find his seat. Frowning deeply, his ears dropping in disappointment, he turned and headed through the entrance, his tail limp. Walking down the steps toward the shifter section, his gaze swept the seats. To his utter surprise, he spotted a girl with black and silver hair and lovely wolfish ears seated not far away. He couldn’t be 100% sure, but he knew that she was his sister, his Erin.
Moving down the aisle, he crouched down a bit as to not draw too much attention to himself. Deciding it was best to just take a seat next to her instead of leading her to the Shifter section, he crept to her side before plopping down into the seat next to her. A wide grin on his face, he watched for her reaction to his arrival, his arms ready for the loving, happy hug he was hoping for.
