"The Noble Serpent"

Jace would have a temporarily confused look on his face as he heard Miss Kamsing giggle, primarily because it was in amusement and not in an insulting way. He had no clue what he had said that made her giggle to begin with as it was not his intention. As she spoke, however, his internal question was answered when she said it was because of how he talked. He would tilt his head slightly, before realization came to him and to his face. 'It appears my diction and manner of speaking is what caused her to giggle.' He thought in his mind. He hadn't realized his diction would be very different at all, but then his contact with others was his family and others like them. He hadn't found hers strange because it reminded him of his younger siblings when they were even younger. As she said she wished she knew how to speak like that, he politely smiled as he was unsure of what to say. Speaking was something that he learned with harsh discipline, and he did not desire to teach others the way he had been. She went further to say she lived in a jungle, didn't know a noble lord so she likely was not ruled under the major ones, and that she was part of a tribe. 'Is that what they meant when they referred to them as primitive?' He silently pondered to himself. It was interesting to hear nonetheless, as well the fact she seemed to be next in line for her tribe. Though his own attention had been focused on Eko once he noted his presence, he did hear Miss Kamsings offer to sit next to her and the light jest she gave of not biting. Well, he hoped it was a jest at least.

At Jace's mention of his own name and origin, he noticed the newcomer was a little confused and scared with his eyes even widening. 'Does he recognize my family name? And if so, why such a response.' Jace pondered to himself, not recalling anything specifically negative in his family reputation. All nobles, as ironic as he mentally choice of words was, are snakes. There are good and bad, but one can never mistake that. Still, regardless of whatever caused such a reaction, the person sat beside them. He apologized, probably for not introducing himself, and then proceeded to say his name. Eko Lassila of Valor, though his origin he said with disdain despite his stuttering. Though Jace did not personally know of an Eko, he had heard of the Lassila name. They were well within the social circle of his family, and quite important ones at that. They were the ones his parents expressly forbid, more so than any other, him acting out and promoted him to be on his best behavior. Going as far as to tell him to avoid them most times. Jace's eyes widened slightly, and he gazed a little more intently at Eko as if really taking him in now, the subtlety from earlier gone. He never knew they had a child as he had never seen him before. It was only an afterthought that Jace noticed despite his earmuffs he was able to hear them perfectly fine, even as he says they are for his raiment.

Before Jace could speak more, it seemed someone was beginning a speech. Though not particularly interested in listening to this, as he assumed it would be something dull and stereotypical, his discipline in manners made him pause to listen. It was not a bad one as it got the message across, but to Jace it did feel like a way to fill in the silence. It also reminded him too much of the speeches his father or mother sometimes gave, and though he couldn't sense anything veiled in the current speaker, he knew very well all the hidden messages in his parents. Which, having lived with many, made speeches leave a bitter taste in his mouth. Still, he kept a polite silence till he finished, noting how there were teaching assistants, a forest being banned from entry (which only made him want to visit it more), and that there was such a thing as a spell class. He had never heard of spells before, only knowing his raiment and failing to be a celebrar in terms of magic. He would need to brush up on that as he noted Miss Kamsing being particularly keen on that as well as feeling that severing entry into the forest was unfair. Which Jace had to agree, but for now remained silent. The man would then introduce a court mage with a rather noble sounding name. Though Jace himself was not familiar with him, he wondered why a court mage had joined when he knew there were a few here. A brief glance at his companions revealed no reaction from Miss Kamsing but Mister Lassila eyes were cast down. What was even more curious was how once the applause started, mild as it was for such a gathering, he seemed to have no desire of lifting his head and instead covered his ears. Unsure what to do as what would be proper would be to dutifully ignore it, but feeling like comforting him without breaking the silence, Jace gently placed his free hand on Lassila's shoulder in hopes it would help. Offering a kind smile if he chose to turn to look at him. His attention would soon turn back to the podium as another man took the stage, the court mage in question, but his hand would gently remain there.

Jace...had to admit he was surprised by the man. Though he was predisposed to be against the persuasive nature of speeches given by those of high position, this man was on another level. His voice, for starters, was soothing yet powerful and seemed to fit well with the auditorium as it took on a melodic echo. His words were embellished, but his charisma made them impactful for even a skeptic such as himself. He was also surprised when he, during the course of his speech, traveled to the edge of the stage and stepped off. But, rather than fall off or do something too flashy, he appeared to walk on air with small flashes each time. It wasn't too much and had the desired effect of getting Jace's attention at least, especially as he made a long arc of walking close over everyone's heads before returning back to stage. There he would conclude his speech and give a smile that felt sincerely warm. Jace had to mentally shake himself for a few moments when he realized how captivated he had been during all that. He repeated the mans name again in his head to make sure he wouldn't forget it. 'Rhysian Fuerlain De'Valaer, of House De'Valaer of Valor.' He repeated in his head to engrave it to memory. He would need to look up this person and see what he could find, as he was now interested in this particular noble and their history. Especially if he was ever to inherit his families business and status.

As he was giving the stage back to the prior speaker, jace took the opportunity to quickly speak before the speeches resumed. He would first turn towards Miss Kamsing to speak in his same calm and polite tone despite his actual words. He spoke low, only enough for what he hoped Miss Kamsing at least could hear and hopefully Mister Lassila since his hearing still seemed well despite the earmuffs. "Disciplinary action can only be taken if someone were to be caught." A slight mischievous small formed on his face for a brief instant before it was gone again to his polite one, almost as if it never happened. The underlying meaning to his words he hoped were obvious. He would then turn his head back to Eko, noticing his hand had been left on his shoulder before slowly retracting it back to Jace's own lap. "We should speak more on another occasion where we are not pressed to be silent, if you would graciously grant me an audience." He would simply say, being sincere in his words with a small smile on his face. Though he was eager to learn more about him and his family given their family history between one another, he knew that until all the speaking finished it would not be a good time for such a thing. His attention would remain between his companions until the speaker began again.

                • As time went by, many students and teachers began to make their way into the auditorium. Seraphina did her best to greet each on of them and ask how they were. It was nice seeing all of the familiar faces as well as the new faces that she hoped to become familiar with as the year began and went on. She noticed Lerato coming in and it reminded her that at some point she needed to speak with him on his progress with his journal and to just catch up. It had been awhile since she had spoken to him since she had traveled a bit during the summer break, but now that she was back, and classes were starting, there would be more opportunities to have their little sessions. Once she noticed that a smaller amount was filing in, she knew that the ceremony would be starting soon. Entering the auditorium, she greeted a few people that acknowledged her as she walked toward the stage and to the area where the staff would be seated.

As the ceremony commenced, she listened to Gannon with a soft smile. He was such a kind and respectable man, she had to wonder how it must be for him to deal with everything that had been occurring. At the introduction of the new court mage, she blinked in confusion and watched with interest. The man definitely had a way with words, she couldn’t help but think about how well they seemed to flow from his mouth. What really caught her off guard was when he seemed to just walk on air. The sound of awe was heard from the crowd, Seraphina herself just stared. The eagle in her caused her to study the interesting sight carefully as he continued to speak. Once the speech was complete, she clapped her hands lightly with a small smile.

Sokea, although everything in his heart told him to not lose track of Gin, decided it'd be best to rest his eyes. It was foolish to use his power when he didn't need to. Speeches have been planned for today, all Sokea needed was his ears. Reverting back to his usual blood red eyes, the usual eigengrau took over his vision. He never truly cared about his blindness, and quite honestly, Sokea preferred it. It allowed Sokea to explore his thoughts on a much deeper level. It wasn't until Gin that Sokea longed to see.

As soon as Gannon started to speak, Sokea was already bored. Sokea never interacted much with the Court Mages of the Academy last year, so his opinion on them wasn't that formulated. Sokea was never one to be fond of speeches like this. It was inspiring and all that but to Sokea it is just vague information trying to channel out vague positivity. Please be over soon... All Sokea wanted to do was for the talking about being great, which ended quicker than Sokea thought it would, thankfully. When the Court Mage said that no one was allowed in the forest anymore, two emotions and thoughts appeared in Sokea's mind. One, feeling sad for Gin and all the other shifters that yearned to go there. The second one was relief because of the things he's heard about the forest. Being safe is always better than being sorry.

The announcement of a new Court Mage intrigued Sokea, so he decided it'd be best to listen to whatever is next. His name even sounded important, and noble. It wasn't just Rhysian Fuerlain De'Whatever, it was Lord Rhysian Fuerlain De'Whatever. Sokea sighed at this, and shook his head. Sokea didn't have any personal prejudices towards nobles, he just would prefer if the new Court Mage was not of the Royal kind, especially one from a noble family. I seriously hope De'Whatshisname isn't a man with a pretentious attitude. Sokea thought it'd be cool to be a Court Mage; they always seemed to be allowed to do whatever they want.

And the inspiring speech was back, coming from the new Court Mage this time. Sokea knew that was why he was here, to make a name for himself and to establish a wondrous first impression for the students of Eoana to look up to; however, for Sokea, first impressions weren't best judged on a stage. There was a moment where a large amount of people gasped at something he did, so Sokea decided took activate his raiment to see what was going on.

Sokea looked up to see what everyone was shocked by; and what he saw was almost worthy of said shock. The man who seemed to be the new Court Mage, was walking, on air. Sokea wondered if that was his raiment, or some other form of magic. Whatever it may be, Sokea was very intrigued with this man now. It wasn't the words Lord De'Whatever that inspired Sokea, it was his ease in his demonstration of magic. Sokea has been looking forward to read and learn about spells during his time here, so maybe Sokea will learn how to cast such magic. Resting his eyes now, Sokea smiled and gently clapped with the rest of those who did. Now, Sokea wondered how he was going to approach Gin...

Eko jumped slightly at the sudden feeling of someone's hand on his shoulder. It was likely to be there to reassure him, but that wouldn't happen any time soon. However, he would remember the gesture of kindness, as he was used to being ignored and when he wasn't, he wasn't often treated kindly. Perhaps he had made a friend in Jace, and he hoped the boy wasn't S Class or graduating soon. Jace's status as a noble, though, still sent a feeling of unease through him. Eko even never truly trusted Ivar, his impression of nobles was ruined nearly beyond repair. He appreciated the Elementor's kindness, but he didn't trust someone that flirtatious, that was a form of manipulation. When he explained his situation with his parents briefly to Ivar, he'd regretted it, as Ivar could report how he was treated and get him in even more trouble with his father.

An authoritative voice echoed throughout the Auditorium, almost forcing Eko to look up at the speaker. The new Court Mage, Rhysian De'Valaer. Another gods forsaken noble. Eko hugged himself, noticing Jace's hand was still on his shoulder. The Enhancer was deeply suspicious of this man.

Eko was surprised at the least, at what De'Valaer did. He stepped directly off the stage, walking on... well, not so thin air. He gaped at him, the word "power" sending a shiver down the noble boy's spine. An acknowledgement of power. The new Court Mage was strong, and he did not seem like the good guy type. He was another one of those snobby nobles, who only lived for power and money. Many people couldn't dream to be as captivating and powerful as Eko could already tell this man was, after all, walking on air was, if the boy hadn't seen it happen himself, something unbelievable.

He said it was an acknowledgement of his capacity to be trusted. Eko felt if the royal family themselves had sent this man, he should be able to trust De'Valaer with his life. The Enhancer felt no such trust.

When the speech ended, Jace mentioned one can only be punished for entering the forest if one is caught. Eko knew exactly what he meant about this. His eyes widened again, looking over at Jace if only for a split second. Was he rebellious? He seemed so... perfect and proper. Something Eko's parents wished he could be. The green haired boy seemed like he was the perfect example of a noble, so... why was he implying sneaking into the forest?

Eko jumps slightly when he's addressed, Jace's hand finally being taken off his shoulder. In shock, the Enhancer nods slightly in response to the other boy's request, before stuttering out, "O-Of course..."

He lets out a shaky breath, waiting for another speech to start.

Patrick felt a tingle as Gannon's gaze paused upon him for a brief second as he spoke about teaching assistants - the Diviner had been assigned the role of assisting with the Music class - of which he was already rather excited, but to hear that there was to be a new 'Spells' class, he couldn't help but wonder if there might just be the chance he could apply? It certainly seemed as though many other students were interested as well as a whisper sent a rustle through the Auditorium...

"Off limits again..." he sounded a little disappointed to hear that Eoana Forest was once again closed to students, having caught but a single glance of a Fae that one time in Diviner Class, Patrick had been determined to sneak back out there in the hopes of finding one...elusive as they were...but alas... His gaze would shift towards the Elementor sat beside him at that point, recalling how he'd met the youth out there that time a while back... He couldn't exactly remember what the conversation had been about, but Branwen hadn't been happy about him... "Looks like we won't be meeting up there again then..." he caught the Shadowmancer's eye at that point and Tala quirked an eyebrow,

"Hn..." The youth had been transfixed upon the man who was now introduced as 'Lord Rhysian Fuerlain De’Valaer' - so that was his name? He knew he would still have to address the man by a more formal means, but it was good to know... He heard Rick's comment and glanced questioningly his way before returning his attention towards the stage as the man started to introduce himself.

"De'Valaer?" Patrick had to think for a moment where he'd heard that name before - but it was as the man started to speak that he began to focus more upon his words. Rhysian was certainly an inspiring individual, the way he dressed, the way he spoke, his speech about titles and how he was there to help them all grow and learn, Rick watched him closely, sitting up a little straighter as the man reached the edge of the stage... "He's gonna fall...!"

Both males stiffened as Rhysian stepped off of the stage - sitting up in their seats they watched open-mouthed as he proceeded to stroll forward, his footsteps glinting and flickering with each step... How was he doing that? Was he using a 'Spell' of some sorts? They proceeded to watch and listen to his words, neither's eyes tearing from the man even as he reached the stage again and settled back on a more natural standing...

To Rick, the man's feat along with the smile that followed was encouraging and he started to wonder if there might just be a chance that he could pursue the art of Spellcraft that Gannon had mentioned, but to Tala, the fact Rhysian had walked above the crowds so flawlessly - not to mention that glowing grin, it only served to make his skin prickle...

"Are you going to go for that Spells Class?" Having shared lessons in Beginner's Combat with the male, Patrick wasn't certain if the Shadowmancer would be able to add another lesson to his schedule - if he qualified for it at all - but if he was capable, the Diviner certainly wouldn't sniff at teaming up with him if the opportunity arose. Tala still intrigued him and if he got the chance, he'd like to learn more about him. He would applaud the Court Mage as his speech came to an end before slowing his clap as he realised the youth didn't seem so enthused...

"Hn..." He wasn't entirely sure how much longer the assembly was going to take, but started noting the exits so he could slip away swiftly when the moment presented itself... It was when he realised that the Diviner was speaking to him again that he looked Rick squarely in the eyes before glancing away, "I guess it wouldn't hurt to try..."

"If you don't get it, I'm sure we can get together and practice sometime," Patrick would smile, turning his attention back to the stage to see what was going to happen next.

At Jace's comment Thanya seemed to understand what he was saying but did not fully grasp what he was implying, simply responding back. "I...I guess that is true."

Before Thanya could elaborate any more on what Jace was implying the new court mage stood up and began talk. Thanya, who seemed otherwise mildly interested in the speech, would gasp as the court mage stepped off the stage and began to walk through the air. "Oh wow! Is that magic? The people here sure can do some fancy stuff. I never would have seen that in the jungle."

After a moment or so her the excitement from the mans display would wear off leaving her with a confused look on her face. She would turn Jace and Eko and ask. "Say, what exactly does a court mage do? I mean he got super fancy describing his title and all that, but what exactly is he going to be doing here at the Academy? He's not a teacher right?"

Oh s**t, oh s**t, oh s**t!!! A young man let out, as he would rush through the halls of the castle academy. Him being late was virtually a common occurrence here in the academy, but not when it was for orientation. To think it would be his second one here in the schools. So much strange things have been happening lately, as well as him slowly getting used to displaying his raiment to others, however controversial it may be. Still, Julia kind of rubbed off on his growing confidence of not caring whether people accepted him or not. Okay, hopefully the speach is going on now, right? Ganon never really keeps anything short... right?! Azura would talk to himself, as he would run to the theatre wing. Many of the other students and people would look at him with a curious and confused face thinking of Azura to be insane. It wasn’t too far from the truth, in reality.

As he would walk in, Azura would stop in front of the general area where the door would be and let out a sigh of relief to hear a large speech going on. But something was different. That wasn’t Ganon speaking. As he would walk inside slowly trying to not be noticed, he looked to see a long haired man at the podium address himself as the new headmaster of the academy. That made Azura tilt his head in confusion as he never knew that another Court Mage was chosen. What amazed him even more was the fact that he was floating in mid-air while giving his speech. He must be pretty proficient in his raiment abilities to be able to pull that off. Either way, Azura shrugged it off, thinking that this new guy was more of a show off type like most of the other aristocratic teachers he had, mostly Lerato and Ezra. Slowly sneaking by, he saw that Thanya was sitting with two other guys. A male with green hair, and if he wasn’t mistaken, Eko Lassila Who was in the same combat class as him last year. The Man never spoke much, but he knew of how he was trying to strengthen himself, since his raiment made him hyper-sensitive to everything. Umm... good morning. Azura said to Thanya and the other two behind her.

It was worse than Hell is all I can say... Nanashi would say to Jesse in response to her asking about her training. She knew that they were working him hard, as he would appear in her shop virtually almost all the time. Still, she never did tell her about the combat training they went through. So remember that quiet girl Eyrli? As it turned out she was actually a pretty tough fighter. But me, on the other hand... all I can still hear is some angry guard going “drop and gimme 50!” All day long... Nanashi would sigh as he would then chuckle to himself. Heheh, here I am still complaining when I signed up for this. But I never got to hear about your time. How was the shops and customers? Nanashi would ask as he would then look at the new person giving the speech. To Nanashi, he wondered if maybe Ganon hired a new teacher, which made sense since half of the faculty were transferred to other schools in various countries. But what had made him somewhat more concerned was the mere fact hat he was floating, or in his case, walking on air. Nanashi caught on that there was a slight ray of light emitting from the man’s feet, seeing as he would use that to his advantage. Sure was a weird Court Mage. Would Nanashi really be associating with other court mages like him if he worked at it?

╔═══════════════════

‘What in the Gods…?’ Gannon thought as he watched Rhysian step off of the stage. His foot pressed into the air, light emanating from his step, sending a light pulse of white energy rippling through the air as he walked leisurely above the heads of the students he addressed with his eloquent speech. Mouth hanging slightly open, eyes wide, Gannon reached up to rustle Brageet from her dozing. She chirped in irritation, not liking being awoken, but as her gaze landed on Rhysian, all of her irritation melted away.

<<’Is he? How? What?’>> Brageet’s amazement matched his own. It was obvious that this wasn’t some sort of illusion, or even if it was, everyone in the auditorium seemed effected by it. But regardless, however or whatever Rhysian was doing was highly impressive and unlike anything he’d ever seen.

<<’I don’t know…but it’s clear that he is in a league of his own…’>> It seemed that the King of Valor had sent this Court Mage to them for a reason. Given the man’s skills, Gannon was a bit more optimistic of the changes to come.

As Rhysian stepped back onto the stage and over to his side, Gannon gave him a small nod of acknowledgement. The students erupted in applause, clearly impressed with the display. Following their example, Gannon clapped along with them. Once the applause had died away, Gannon retook his spot at the podium. “Thank you, Rhysian for that impressive display.” Gannon said with a smile before gesturing to the other faculty seated close by.

“Along with Lord De’Valaer, we also have several new professors, which I would like to introduce. If each of you could stand as I call your name, this will allow the new students to become familiar with you.” Not to mention they’d know who their Knit Professor was for their first day of class.

To begin, Gannon introduced, Ezra as the Celebraer Professor, next Ven as the Shifter Professor. He then moved on to Marisenn as the Botany Professor, Gianna as the Advanced Combat Professor, Leonora as the Beginner’s Combat Professor and Kayne as the Cooking Professor. He of course introduced Lerato as his fellow Court Mage and the Music Professor, so the students knew there were three total which they could seek out regarding administrative issues. While Elijah wasn’t a Professor, he was a major part of the Faculty, and thus Gannon introduced him as the Head Librarian before moving on to introduce the new Professors.

“Our new Professors are as follows; Relesta Conisza will be taking over the Elementor Class this year. Philia Makismov will be taking over the Enhancer class, and Q’ara Celeste Krea will be offering the new Spells course.” At that, Gannon clapped before gesturing for the faculty to retake their seats.

“Now, with the introductions having been made, and the speeches having been said, the rest of the day is yours. Please feel free to explore the grounds and speak with any of the staff. If you need a dorm assignment, please come speak with me. Thank you for your attendance, I hope you have a wonderful year.” Stepping away from the podium, Gannon breathed a small sigh of relief. He truly hated speaking in public, but as a Court Mage it was expected of him, at least to some degree.

Once the ceremony had started Camilla did her best to continue reading. She didn't really care about what needed to be said, not enough to take her full attention away from her book. But she caught the important bits. Don't go into the forest, new teachers, new court mage. At this point, it seemed Gannon was going to introduce the man she had seen him standing with prior to beginning his speech. Now that was something she could give her full attention. Looking up while only slightly closing the book she watched as the tall regal figure walked up to the podium and began talking. As he introduced himself Camilla's eyes went wide. ' What did he say his name was? De'Valaer? Isn't that Kayls last name? Are they related? '' She wondered as the man's soothing voice went on. He was a court mage sent by the order of the king of Valor and was here to serve and aid them. That part intrigued her more than it should have.

As the man went on he would get more into his speech and begin explaining different aspects of their known government jobs and that any of them could become more than they are now. It was all very inspiring, to say the least. But then the man did something incredible. As he spoke he literally walked off the stage. If she had known better she'd have thought he was going to be injured on his first day of work. But it was quite the opposite. The man was literally walking on air! Camilla was completely flabbergasted. She had never seen anything like this before in her life. Without realizing she had done it, she had dropped her book into her lap and her mouth hangs slightly open as her eyes were glued to the man now above her, still walking and talking as if what he was doing was in the realm of the norm. She didn't know how he was doing it. But she was sure of one thing, this man was beyond strong.

Standing up now, letting her book clatter to the floor Camilla watched him as he walked above them all and continued his robust speech. As he walked and took a moment to clear his throat before continuing on the other side of the auditorium, Camilla had to wonder just who even was this man, if he was this incredible and worked for her home land's king, then why had she never seen him before? Surely someone with such talent and strength would be renown throughout her entire country. Despite the thought, she now had several questions, who was this man truly, why did he have Kayl's last name, and could she get this man to train her personally? If she could, then she could potentially reach heights she had never even thought were possible for herself.

As the man made his way to the stage and ended his speech, Camilla immediately burst into clapping. She had never seen such a powerful speech. It was truly awe-inspiring. As the clapping died down Camilla once more took a second to collect herself and retrieve her book from the auditorium floor. Sitting down once more she watched as Gannon retook the podium. Now it was time to meet the staff. This didn't concern her as much. She knew most of the staff already. It was the new staff she was curious about. In the middle of the year last year, her Enhancer teacher left and was not heard from again. So she needed to know who she'd be taught by now. As Gannon introduced them all Camilla looked over her new teacher carefully. ' Philia Makismov, I wonder if she will let us do practical training with our raiments. The sub took time to train with me one on one so that was nice. But I can't really get a read on this one... ' Camilla thought to herself. As Gannon concluded introductions, he wished them all a good year and dismissed them. Standing up slowly Camilla stayed looking at the stage. She was half tempted to go over and ask the man herself if he'd be willing to train with her. The thought alone was getting her excited. If he could walk on air, whos to say he couldn't fight with her while using her Raiment? The thought of someone other than Kayl being able to keep up with her Raiment was active made her mouth water.

Shaking her head to rid herself of the thoughts of fighting, Camilla gathered herself and made her way out of the Auditorium. She hadn't seen Kayl at all and wondered if he had skipped it. Though she doubted he would do something like that, she also wouldn't put it past him. Having a good idea where he might have been if he wasn't here, she set out to find her friend.

*Exit the Auditorium and head towards the Training Field.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Cyrus never really liked lectures but as it was part of his job to stand guard, he had to remain ever-vigilant and try to keep his eyes open. As a whole, it was inspiring to see the array of new faces, along with those he recognised from before - the fact a good few had stayed on to progress in their studies and assist with the younger students was grand, but something felt slightly off with Gannon this time - The Tiger couldn't pinpoint it exactly, but soon put it down to the man perhaps having a lot on his plate, but who was to know?

He was also rather curious about the new Court Mage - the man had arrived in all his splendour, with an equally as fashionable female following in his footsteps... Having not seen many Lords in his time, he was perhaps mistrustful of such well dressed individuals because he didn't understand them? But what really threw him was as Lord Rhysian left the stage and walked above the heads of the students as though he had mounted an invisible platform...He couldn't believe his eyes and his mouth dropped open at the sight before closing as he realised he had an image to maintain... Although the Mage's words didn't necessarily apply to him - being a City Guard and not a member of the Academy Faculty itself - he couldn't help but wonder how many of the students had been were hoping to take the class?

"That's brutal," Jesse couldn't help but feel sorry for her friend - it was interesting to hear that the mute female she'd heard about was doing well, but it sounded like they were really working Nanashi hard, "My time was a lot better," she felt guilty, but in truth, she'd quite enjoyed herself and had learnt so much over the time, "You got the occasional grump, but most of the people are really nice - it's really great to see them so happy and I can't wait to..." at this point, she would turn her eyes towards the stage as people drew a stunned breath... Her own breath would be caught as she watched the Nobleman leave the stage and stride above the students below... How was someone capable of such a feat? Having been whispering to Nanashi she hadn't necessarily paid a lot of attention to the entire speech, but until the Lord returned to the stage, she couldn't tear her eyes away.

After that, she would listen as Gannon introduced the familiar faculty before naming the newest arrivals to the teaching staff, "...Spells?" she would tilt her head at the mention of the new class, "Could that be how he did it?" she wasn't sure, but would cast a glance towards Nanashi as Gannon rounded up the assembly, "The rest of the day is ours...did you fancy a wander?" she should probably have started getting things ready for her upcoming lessons, but perhaps if Nanashi wasn't too busy, they could continue their catch-up outside? Depending on his answer, Jesse would wait until everyone was moving before leaving her seat.

Although the ceremony had proven quite interesting, Cyrus knew that it was wise not to drop his guard until all the students and faculty had left - so as Gannon thanked everyone for their attendance and people started to leave their seats, Cyrus would place himself out of the way, but still within reach to detain or pull aside any trouble-makers on the way out. He would also ensure he performed a final walk around the theatre before taking his leave for the day.

At the sound of a familiar voice Thanya's ears would perk up. She would whip around and give Azura a big grin. "Oh, hey Azura! You just missed it! This new court mage guy just walked through the air! I've never seen anything like it! Oh, there's also going to be this new spells class that I hope they will let me take and uh..." Thanya's mood would become subdued again. "...we still aren't allowed in the forest."

Thanya suddenly seemed to remember she was not alone. She would motion over the green haired boy and then to the one with earmuffs. "Oh, that right! This here is Jace and Eko. I was just asking them what job does a Court Mage actually do."

Jace, during the court mages performance, could only nod in agreement to Thanya's statement having never seen something quite like that. Even in his home he had never seen anything like that. Jace didn't notice Eko's split second look when he mentioned sneaking into the forest or his widened eyes, his attention being split currently between him and Thanya. He didn't really need to see their reactions to that bit of hinting quite yet, as for now he did not plan to enter the forest. For now being the operative word. There was still much to do before he would be fully settled for that, and be able to plan something that dangerous. 'Information is key.' He thought to himself, suppressing a mischievous smile at the thought of pulling something like that off. Hearing Thanya's answer to it of I guess, he wondered if she caught onto his implication or not. He did not know whether she was able to be reserved and not give things away quite yet, so it could be she was playing it off or legitimately did not catch his true meaning. Regardless, it was a matter he could find the answer to later when their were less prying ears amongst them. Jace's attention was soon taken yet again by Eko as he noticed him jumped slightly after asking his question. Though he nodded, and agreed, it seemed he was still in discomfort in some way, or at the very least still on edge. Jace still had no idea why, given the boy was from a noble family they were taught to not have their emotions so visible, but he would not press him about it. Instead, he would smile in in response to him accepting his proposal. "Splendid. I shall contact you at another time to determine when we are able to meet as I have yet to determine my own schedule here." Jace would say in his more friendly tone, still polite, but warmer than he was earlier. He quite enjoyed the idea of talking with someone he had at least a little familiarity with, if only directly. It made him feel like he wasn't lost in a completely different world.

As she asks what it is a court mage does, Jace ponders the topic for a few moments trying to determine what would be a suitable answer for that. In truth, he had no clue what they specifically did and only had general information about it. No further racking of his mind could reveal anymore information than that. He could, at the least, give his answer to the first question. In regards to his role here at the academy, Jace was not aware of what such a presence could do besides show them the levels a raiment can take a person. "What court mages do specifically I am unaware of unfortunately. However, the general purpose is to serve the royal family. In what ways I am unsure, but I do also know that they are powerful magicians. As to his purpose in the academy and the role he shall take, I am afraid I am at a loss. Would you happen to know anything of this?' Jace would ask as he referred to Eko, unsure if he should use his full title as nobles were accustomed to given his apparent disdain for Valor of which he was a noble of. For now until he could figure it out, carrying on the conversation without the mention of his name would be a safe and neutral route he could take. Thinking back to the topic at hand, the man seemed far too elaborate to be a teacher in Jace's mind. Though his performance had captivated his own attention as well as many others, the shock factor of such a thing would fade in time. 'And, once isolated in a domain where he is ruler of a group of students, would he remain the same...or would he change to assume the role of instructor in a harsher manner?' Jace pondered to himself. He had many instructors who were meek to his parents and nothing but kind, yet to him were the harshest disciplinarians of them all. When removed from those that kept them in check a person's true nature may be revealed.

As the previous speaker retook the stage and began to list off faculty members, Jace did not try to remember all of them. The information could prove useful, but in his mind he was only interested in a few for the current moment. Any others he could further inquire about later should any desire to interact with them surface. Out of the entire faculty listed, he took note of three specifically as he would repeat their names and positions in his mind. 'Ven the shifter instructor, Ezra the Celebrar instructor, and Q'ara the Spell instructor.' The first was in his mind as he would need to attend his classes, having seen the man as he was referred to and all the others. He hoped he could keep his own raiment subtle and unknown to most but that depended on how classes here were done. If it were private that would be ideal. If they were public...He only hoped the class was small. The next one, Ezra, was noted in his own mind as it was the instructor of the knit his parents had. Though it was not his own knit, he still wished to learn more about it as it was the rest of his families knit as far as he could tell. The final one was because of Miss Kamsings interest and that it was a brand new class which many seemed excited for. So, perhaps, it would prove useful to attend and learn such a thing as spells. With those three names in mind, he felt prepared for how he would go about this school time and try to maximize his effort to return home. Though that was not all the useful information he was able to gather from the speaker. Apparently, all the speeches were over and the day was theirs. More importantly though was that he was to go to him for dorm assignment. He had been given a temporary one for now, though he did desire his own if only to make his stay here more comfortable.

It was then that the band of new companions were joined by yet another, or so Jace thought to himself as he heard someone come up and say good morning if a little hesitantly. Turning his gaze towards the man, he wondered where he had appeared from. 'He either managed to sneak from his seat over to us in the midst of the speeches or he arrived quite late to this.' Jace silently thought to himself. Whilst thinking Miss Kamsing took the initiative as she seemed familiar with this person, calling them Azura at that. It was amusing to hear how excited she was for everything, as well as the sudden shift to being subdued when she mentioned the forest being banned. 'She is almost bursting with energy it seems. It is refreshing to see one able to wear the emotions so plainly with little fear. Braver than I to say the least.' He pleasantly thought to himself. Then, as she suddenly remembered about Jace and Eko, she would briefly introduce them by their first names. Still, there was nothing for it but to continue as he would at any social gathering, and with this pause between speeches, he greeted him in return. "A good morning to you as well." Jace would say in his calm and polite tone with matching smile. Though he was enjoying present company, time was of the essence. He had many things he needed to find out and not much time. For one, he was curious why the forest here was off limits. It was strange to suddenly quarantine one with so many powerful mages here. Further, he could perhaps use it to his advantage should he ever decide sneaking in was worth the risk. The other question was where he would be spending his time in terms of rooming. Though he found Eko and Miss Kamsing to be interesting, he did not know how room assignments worked. If it were possible he would join them, otherwise he hoped he could either have his own or have an agreeable roommate. Gracefully, Jace would stand up from his seat and begin his goodbyes. "While it has been a pleasure to be in your company, I am afraid I need to depart. There are a few questions I need to discuss with some of the faculty while I still have the time. I hope to meet with you all again." He would finish his goodbye still in his typical polite manner, giving a small bow to all of them before turning to slowly make his way towards the podium.

Elijah had never been one to witness something that left him disbelieving his eyes, but as Rhysian stepped off the stage and onto the air, he felt himself doubting his own sight. Gripping Ezra’s hand in his own, his mouth slowly opening and closing like a fish lightly gasping for air, Elijah watched in abject fascination as the Royal Court Mage walked on air, ripples of light emanating from his steps as he casually walked above the heads of the Academy students.

Looking at Ezra, his eyes wide with wonder and excitement, he smiled and laughed lightly before looking back toward the man. Like the students, Elijah was giddy with excitement. There were so many questions fluttering through the librarian’s mind, like birds taking flight. How was this possible? Was this the man’s raiment? Was it a spell that he’d cast? Could others perform such a feat? How far and how high could he walk into the air? Elijah’s greediness for knowledge was awakened, but with it, abject curiosity. Perhaps there were tomes explaining such spells. Perhaps the new Spells Professor, Q’ara could enlighten him…

Clapping with the rest of the auditorium at the end of Rhysian’s speech, Elijah felt a bit giddy. This new Court Mage seemed to be full of surprises…As Gannon retook the podium to introduce the faculty to the students, Elijah stood when his name was called and gave the students a friendly smile and wave. He retook his seat when instructed to and waited patiently for the assembly to end before turning to his love with wonderment in his eyes.

“Oh, how exciting! I couldn’t believe my eyes, Ezra! It was simply amazing…” Elijah had to wonder if maybe one day he could learn such a spell to walk on air, or something else equally amazing. “What did you think, my love? What is your impression?” If anyone could get a good impression of the new Court Mage it was Ezra – he could sense lies after all…

So that was all it was? In reality. Nanashi could not stop wondering about the whole thing. Were more Valor nobles really going to take the school? And if that wasn’t it, what was the point in showing those skills off on the first day? All Nanashi could think of was how flashy and fancy he would act. It reminded him more of Ivar than ever. If anything, Nanashi most likely thought they’d all be like that. It was until then that Jesse snapped him out of his trance by even Jesse questioning the method. Most likely, it could be spells. Almost anything is possible with these mages. Nanashi would say as he would watch as Ganon would introduce the new teachers. He really hadn’t cared much, even when the new Elementor professor was this somewhat hardened and serious looking lady. She definitely seemed like she would be a hard time on Nanashi. At last, that was finally over and the students would leave after clapping. Stroll, eh? It’s been too long since I walked around here. Nanashi said as he would look at the direction of the courtyard. C’mon, I wanna hear more about the grumps! Nanashi would chuckle, as he would exit with her. ((Exits to the courtyard))
