[~ @Cyrus ~]

The Black Hooded Rogue ticked his teeth angrily as the tiger jumped completely over him. He quickly rolled up to feet and turned to face the beast, even though every instinct was telling him to run. The only reason he hadn’t followed those instincts was because he knew there was no way he could outrun the tiger, an animal wouldn’t have known better. Holding his blade up at the beast, he took a step back while keeping his eyes locked on the tiger’s eyes. He already knew full well how dangerous a powerful shifter could be, and wouldn’t underestimate his enemy. As he took another step back, the beast seemed to eye him carefully as well, as if waiting to see what he would do. Without attacking right away, the Black Hooded Rogue took a breath and quickly reached into his bag and pulled out a small tube. He pulled its core, lighting it and then threw it at the beast while jumping backwards, bracing for the coming explosion that would ensue. As the blast echoed through the forest, the Black Hooded Rogue took advantage of the chaotic scene and lunged at the Tiger, aiming to thrust his blade into its heart.

[~ @Aldaine ~]

The Red Cloaked Soldier stood silent in the snow as he waited for his pursuer to make his move. The snow blew around him, and the mixed scent of snow and feline continued to fill the air. He could not pinpoint his pursuers position, but it was already well enough that he at least new the direction of his pursuer. It would have been much worse for him if he had no idea where an attack could come from. Standing still and keeping his eyes sharp, the only indication that he got was a bit of heavy snow falling from a branch. The blade came swiftly, and if not for the snow, he might not have been able to react. However looking up just moments before gave him enough time to spin his blade into a parry pushing the enemy’s blade just inches from his shoulder. Without hesitation and just as fast as he managed to parried the blade, the moment the blade safely passed the Red Cloaked Soldier brought his blade up and swung it down, striking when the enemy’s own momentum would best work against him.

[~ @Cloaked Figure ~]

The Grey Hooded Archer smiled ever harder as her enemy quickly darted towards her, trying to shorten the gap between them. Playing with him the long while, she would fire arrow upon arrow upon arrow while jumping back and away, using her powerful legs to keep a fair distance whenever he came close. Acting the predator, she continued to play with him further and further, grinning and laughing and creepily giggling as she watched his struggle and continued to play with him. Further into the forest, she kept up her game, and found herself in a state of bliss, one that would keep her from ending it quickly. "Oh ya oh ya!? Is there more, please give me more!?" She screamed out gleefully as she started to fire her arrows closer and closer to the mark. She was started to get deadly accurate now, as if she hadn’t been aiming at all before. With each arrow fired it would get harder and harder to avoid, and soon she found herself wanting to draw blood.

The blades made contact, only not in the way Aldaine would have preferred. Instead of staggering his opponent, the red cloaked soldier parried his blade. However, having said that, Aldaine didn’t seem to mind. Afterall, it wouldn’t have been as sporty if his prey didn’t put up a fight. However, if Aldaine’s suspicions about Cyrus was correct, then the tiger shifter needed him. While Cyrus, in his feral state affected by the full moon might have been incredibly strong, what the tiger shifter gained in strength, he could easily lose in control. And in losing control, there is also the risk of losing focus. Therefore, Aldaine needed to conclude his business here of his canine companion as soon as possible. However, he knew full well that his opponent would make it no easy task.

Once his attack was parried, Aldaine adjusted his feet to make a perfect landing, his stance steady and composed. The shooting through the air as well as the force of the impact was enough to loosen Aldaine’s mask and hood, both falling to reveal his face to the soldier. At the speed of lightening, his gaze shot up to find the soldier bringing his sword up to strike downwards. Shooting a chilling gaze right into the soldier’s eyes, Aldaine’s grin re-emerged as he brought his prosthesis up to catch the blade in his metallic left hand. Manoeuvring with his current position, he stood up straight and moved quickly to the side, rotating his stagnant hand around the blade and keeping it pressed down, hearing the light screeches of metal against metal as the two objects caused friction.

Aldaine’s initial plan to was create some distance between the two, however, as he moved, he noticed a sight he found most appealing. The soldier’s neck. Right there in front of him, undefended as the soldier’s sword was caught in his prothesis. In that instance, Aldaine’s previous thoughts may as well have been a fleeting dream. Previously, he may have considered taking the soldier back for questioning, but that was until he heard an explosion echo through the forest. At that moment, a time seemed to slow as a multitude of memories came flooding back into Aldaine’s mind. Memories of the attack, the grieving mourners, the weeping Diane, Vary’s speech, the last word’s he heard from Reynard…words spoke from the heart…and finally...the old, yet haunting sight of his beloved Jenna, bloodied and dying in his arms. Amidst it all, one thought came to the jaguar’s mind…

    “Cyrus…”

In that moment, an intense fire course through his vein’s. In that moment, Aldaine channelled his jaguar strength into his arms. With the sword still grinding against his metallic hand, he forced it down to the ground, With the amount of force Aldaine had applied in the manoeuvre, hopefully it was enough to stagger his opponent. Then, in the blink of an eye, maintaining the channelled aggression and wild feline strength in his arms, he lunged forward towards the soldier to bring his blade and arms around him, to embrace the extremist into a crushing vice-like grip in order to prevent further means of escape. As Aldaine did this, he shifted his teeth into sharpened jaguar fangs, his mind focused on his now current intent, to lung at the soldier’s neck, to bury his fangs deep into the b*****d’s flesh. Consequences be damned, Aldaine wasn’t going to lose another loved one, not if he had anything to say about it!

During all of this, a single thought rippling through his mind…

    “DIE!”

A prisoner of his own curse, Cyrus would watch through the eyes of his Feral Form as the Assailant rolled, rising to their feet before lifting their weapon - the sharp tip directed towards him in both defense and warding. He felt the beast's eyes narrow as a rumble like distant thunder resounded quietly in his throat before ears perked as the Rogue took an unforeseen step backwards...

With swift movements, a cylindrical like object was cast towards him, naturally, Cyrus would have moved to avoid this, but with another side of him wielding the reins, the Black Tiger merely braced itself against the blast - the scent of singed fur quickly recognisable, yet the delay in the beast's movement seemed well planned for a creature which usually ran on instincts alone...

The Shifter continued to observe from the primordial 'back-seat' as the Tiger - which had taken the blast head on - now seemed to twist to the side, lifting its forepaws to stand on hind legs before stretching out its arms and allowing the large, clawed paddles that would make him an expert at swimming, to swing out as though lashing out at something within the smoke...

He knew bloodlust when he saw it. This shifter, she was in the thick of it. Her creepy giggling, the way she smiled like a maniac, her look in her eye. She was caught in the heat of the moment. She was playing a game and while he was the leopard chasing after the goat, he was the prey and she the predator. As they moved deeper and deeper into the forest, she used more and more arrows. She didn’t have an endless supply and he knew, that her game couldn’t last. Deciding to try a new tactic, he shifted back into his human form and stopped his pursuit. Crossing his arms over his chest, his gaze locked onto her and he simply stood there, staring at her.

She wanted him to chase and to dodge and to growl and swipe at her. She liked being pursued and thus, he wouldn’t. No, he wouldn’t give her what she wanted. He wouldn’t play her game – not anymore. Silent, still, he remained practically cemented to the spot, watching her every move, waiting for the right opportunity to finish this once and for all…

[~ @Aldaine ~]

As his blade came down, the Red Cloaked Soldier ticked his teeth as Aldaine turned and caught his blade. Whether it was the heat of the moment, or the explosion echoing in the distant, suddenly the Aldaine’s demeanor seemed to shift before him. When the Red Cloaked Soldier felt his blade being forced to the ground, instead of trying to hold firm and be pulled forward, the Red Cloaked Soldier let go of the sword completely, and brought his hands back quickly grabbing two daggers sheathed on his body in quick draw positions. As he drew the daggers, his eyes went wide when the jaguar shifter suddenly pounced forward to grasp at him. He pushed his hands forward with one dagger held forward and being held towards the shifters throat, and the other dagger held in reverse pointed down at Aldaine’s lower stomach. The Red Cloaked Soldier’s movements were very swift and precise, but not without it’s flaws, he was only able to place the weapons up defensively in that moment, leaving Aldaine’s own momentum as the driving force ushering his own body directly towards the blades. The Red Cloaked Soldier would stand his ground pressing forward to counter the weight that would come upon him. Once he was able to stabilize his footing, he pressed forward even harder, this time putting power behind his blades to strike at and attempt to impale the jaguar shifter.

[~ @Cyrus ~]

The Black Hooded Rogue’s eyes went wide as the beast reared up on its hind legs just as he ran in to strike with his blade. He wasn’t expecting the Tiger to take the brunt of the explosion and pounce through the smoke. His blade was now thrusting towards the beast’s lower abdomen, but it wouldn’t matter. As the large claws came down upon him, the sheer weight of the beast came down upon him, and he was unable to avoid the massive shadow hovering over him. Feeling the weight of the claws of the Tiger upon him, the Hyena shifter fell to the ground, contents of his bag falling all around them as he tried to catch his breath, gasping hard as the breath was knocked out of him. He frantically swung his blade upwards, trying to ward off and injure the Tiger in any way he could. His desperation had grown so much that he reached for anything that could get the Tiger off of him. He grasped another explosive that had fallen out of his bag, and pulled its core to light it before trying to stuff it up into the Tiger in any way he could before bracing for what he knew was surely going to hurt.

[~ @Cloaked Figure ~]

Firing arrow after arrow, the Grey Hooded Archer continued to flee and fight, avoid and lure, laughing over and over until suddenly her target just stopped in place, refusing to pursue her any further. Stopping briefly a short way from the hooded figure. She tilted her head lightly as she watched him for a moment, trying to figure out what he was up to. When he didn’t move for nearly a minute, she felt a trickle of annoyance cross over her and ticked her teeth lightly while pulling her bow and firing a wild shot at him. It crossed over his shoulder and into a tree behind him, but he didn’t flinch, he simply stood there watching her like a statue. "What?… grrrhhhh!" Gritting her teeth now, her excitement and cheer all but disappeared as her temper got the best of her. Without thinking she started to fire her arrows directly at him, this time shooting directly at him with deadly accuracy. However without jumping around and firing from her playful positions like before, all of her shots were much more predictable, something that completely slipped her mind in her anger as she tried to turn him into a pin cushion. One by one she fired, until she reached back and realized that she was out of arrows. Narrowing her eyes, she took a step back then, even more angry and annoyed then before as she was now going to have to retreat. "This isn’t over!..." There was no doubt he was likely going to pursue, so to keep the distance between them and to give herself an edge, she pulled out the last explosive she had and tossed it into the air after pulling its core and lighting it. Before the explosion even sounded, she started to run using her powerful legs to try and flee into the tree line and disappear from the hooded figure.

Eoana City Guard || Aldaine De'Fraye
[Where:] Forest [With:] Cyrus [Feeling:] Focused [Outfit:] Cloaked light armour, unmasked
[OOC:]
╔═══════════════════

Foolishness. That was all Aldaine could bring himself to think as his advance was halted by the sting of steel in his right side. Stopping just short of the dagger intended for his throat, he had pulled back his prosthesis to block the rogue-weapon, while bringing his sword arm, encased in a metal gauntlet, down to block the dagger intended for his stomach. However, he had just made it in time, as a small portion on the dagger’s blade had found it’s way through a weak point in his chest piece, leaving a shallow wound in his side. The shifter growled and grunted at the sharpened blade, as he stood there with the red cloaked soldier in stalemate, each pressing against each other, one trying to overpower the strength and momentum of the other. “Damn it!” his mind screamed, as he glared at the soldier growling.

It was then, he felt the soldier try to push forward, to delve the blade in his side deeper. However, Aldaine would have no such thing. Gritting his teeth, using the strength he maintained in his arms, he pushed the soldier back, escaping from the vicinity of his blades. As he did this, Aldaine channelled his feline strength into his legs and jumped back, raising his foot to the extremist in an attempt to kick him as he leapt back and gained distance. Whether or not he landed the strike was irrelevant, what mattered was that he separated the two of them.

Flying through the air, he landed a good few feet away from the soldier. Once he landed, he would let out a light growl at the sharp pain in his side from the dagger’s strike. Looking down, he witnessed a small trail of his own blood trickle down his armour as well as stain his gloved hand. Looking up at the extremist, Aldaine ticked his teeth in disgust. However, it was not aimed at the extremist as much as it was aimed at himself. The moment he’d heard the explosion, he let himself panic, gave into emotion. He felt himself grow aggressive, almost uncontrollably. Why?! Had he not learned from his failures?! Had not enough blood been shed due to his own irresponsible actions?! HAD HE NOT CHANGED?! Aldaine let out a cough as his mind raced, his head had suddenly began to hurt, filling all the tiny little nerves that ran through the muscles of his head bulging and screaming in pain. As these events unfolded, it was as if an epiphany had occurred in his mind. What was he doing? How had he come to be so low? To waste his life at the blade of a common sellsword? Aldaine did not value his life, far from it in fact. But to forget his vows to those who he had lost, to those would had been lost because of him, to those who owed their pain and misery to him and throw his life with which he could use to make amends to them away? To let his guilt-ridden despair corrupt him so? Cloud his judgement, lose trust in his colleagues, shun the memory of the man who had given his life to save him, regardless of how kind or foolish the act was? Had he truly become so selfish?! Aldaine’s head slightly lowered as if in shame, time once again seeming to distort and slow, feeling as though his surroundings faded into blackness.

    ***

“Aldaine?” a female voice called out in his mind. What was this? Where was the forest, the soldier? The setting had changed to a brightly lit military tent, in which two people stood, one of whom possessed Aldaine’s eyes as he gazed to the beautiful female Captain who stood across the tent from him. Then a male voice, Aldaine’s own voice, in a tone that had all but been forgotten spoke. The tone was gentle, warm and considerate “Yes darling? What is it?”. Aldaine then realised, he had been here before, this setting, this conversation. He had seen it many times in his dreams. The white fox shifter, with her gorgeous red eyes looking longing at the man who sat in his chair, her scarlet orbs littered with concern. The man who resembled Aldaine, with his own golden gaze had initially donned a small, uncharacteristic smile, a smile which soon faded as he notice the woman’s worried state. Standing he approached her, “Jenna? What’s wrong?” The woman was hesitant at first, but, approaching the jaguar shifter himself, she spoke “Your wound…”. As she said this, she gently placed her hand over the man’s armoured chest plate, her fingers adapted to it’s cold, denfensive steel. The man soon smiled again, as he cupped her cheek with a gloved hand as hushed her, “Jenna, this is nothing, I’ve had worse.” The fox shifter shot her glare up at him with an intense ire as she combated his statement, “You recklessly put your life in danger again! Taking on all of those enemy troops at once, what were you thinking?! How many times is this going to happen with you?!” she yelled in frustration. The feline however remained unfazed, for he knew the fox shifter didn’t yell at him without good reason. He saw it in her eyes, amidst the anger and frustration, there was a fear. A fear of losing the one she loved the most. A fear of losing him. They had been here many times, argued, screamed and cursed at each other over it. However, this time, the man simply did not have the heart to see the woman go into such a state once more. The man simply brought both his gloved palms to the woman’s face, drawing her closer, planting a soft kiss on her forehead before pulling her into an embrace. For a time they remained silent as she gradually returned the embrace. “You're constantly putting yourself in harms way for others. Sometimes I can't help but think, do you do it because you care, because there is still some part of you that cherishes the thrill battle, or...do you see so little value in your own life? I know you did it to save me…but…I can’t bear the thought of losing you. I’m nothing without you.” The man sighed calmly at her statement as he responded “I know, love. I don’t want to lose you either. Yes, we don’t always agree on the actions we take, but we’re at war here, any day could be our last. With that being the case, if I can keep as many of my men, as well as you alive for as long as I am able to do so then I will, even if it should cost me my own life. You’re my reason to live…Jenna…” The woman embraced him tighter at his words, “Promise me Aldaine…promise me you will never throw away your life, even if you feel like you should…I know it’s selfish to make you promise me this, to go against you’re own beliefs but…” The woman left her sentence unfinished as the man comfortingly tightened his embrace around her. “Don’t be silly. It’s not selfish at all.” Pulling away slightly the two locked gazes as the man spoke again,“I promise, Jenna Dennivale. Can you promise me the same?” Smiling at him warmly, she spoke “Of course, dear…I love you.”. As she said this, she leaned up, due to the man’s superior height and wrapped her arms around him, leaning in to connect their lips. He returned her kind smile as he replied “I love you.” with that, he met her halfway and closed the gap between them.

    ***

What seemed like an hour in Aldaine’s mind, was mere seconds in reality. The cold winds and snow still blew violently around himself and the soldier. It was as though he was lost, transfixed in his reminiscent state of mind, his head hanging low, hair drooping over his eyeline. He was completely lost, as if disconnected from the live-threatening circumstances of his lack of attention. Amidst his trance, he recalled his training with Gerot when he was just a boy. He was always so emotional, letting arrogance and pride get the better of him, making him grow angry and unfocused. However, Aldaine, as much as he now despised Gerot, remember the old man’s teachings. You must never let emotion guild you actions, raw emotion without logic was a sure-fire way to the path of defeat. As well as this, he made one crucial mistake that he was sure Gerot would have stuck him for if he was still the old man’s student. He overestimated his own abilities, while underestimating his opponents. These memories, they were the ones Aldaine had long forgotten amidst crushing existential pain elicited by recent events. These were the memories he needed to remember, the ones he needed to give him strength and focus.

No, no more pain. No more mistakes. Aldaine De’Fraye was no weak-minded, self-obsessed fool to be mocked. His colleagues were no younger siblings for him to mind and look after. He needed to trust them, and to trust himself in doing what he must to survive. He must focus on the bigger picture, what was important. No his own suffering, not his own memories and pain, but the dire consequences of what will happen if he fails again, if he lets himself die.

Eyes reopening, Aldaine was back in the real world, the wind still howling, the snow still assaulting his cloak and armour, and that of his opponents. No more would Aldiane let his past dictate his future. He would focus on the present, for here and now, he was face with one of the bastards he was looking for. Aldaine locked eyes with the red cloaked soldier and slowly, he placed Reynard’s sword back in it’s scabbard. Balance the sheathed sword in his prothesis, Aldaine still kept a firm grip on the handle, as he adopted a low stance, his right foot sliding forward, slightly parting his legs. He never took his eyes off of the soldier for second. Aldaine continued staring at him with a calm, focused gaze. “Your move.” he silently thought to himself.

Had the beast not twisted to raise a mighty paw, Cyrus knew for certain he would have felt the full sting of the Hyena's blade rip into his side, but as the Tiger sprung out of the smoke to land its blow, it would impact the Rogue's body with such a force that they were both sent to the ground - the weight of the Feral Beast pushing down upon the Hyena Shifter as he flailed frantically to land a strike with his weapon...

Unaware of the Rogue's hidden move, Cyrus knew what was coming - His Feral Form was just seconds away from landing a devastating bite to his enemy's throat - he had the shifter pinned and could sense desperation in his prey, the sheer urge to try anything to prolong a painful and bloody death...but as the Tiger lifted its torso, preparing to lean in and deliver the killing bite, Cyrus's eyes caught sight of a light.

It was just a flicker as though something had sparked beneath them, but just as he realised what was happening, the Tiger - his Feral form locked on finishing off its target whilst the chance was there - found himself thrown backwards by such a force that the hulking, black beast landed and rolled across the snow before coming to a muffled stop...

...What had happened...? His vision blurred and his ears deafened and ringing from the blast, Cyrus opened his eyes, feeling the cold of the snow beneath him as the large, Feral Beast receded and he returned to his human form...

Having rolled to a stop upon his side, amber eyes glanced dazedly across the white to a slight depression in the snow, its edges blackened by the blast whilst smoke rose up from its center...

The shifters cheerful mood melted away into irritation and anger when he stopped playing her game and therefore she got reckless. She wanted to lead him on a chase, make him squirm, but he’d had enough and thus, she used her arrows, one after another to try to antagonize him again. But her efforts were fruitless. He was able to dodge her shots, predicting their trajectory easily and simply stepping out of their way as they came toward him.

His patience paid off. As she reached for yet another arrow to fire at him, she came back empty handed. She’d been careless, firing them off without keeping track of how many she had left, and that mistake would be her last. "This isn’t over!..." Oh yes, it was…she just hadn’t accepted her fate yet.

Even as she made a grab to attack him with something else, he bent his knees slightly and broke into a run, heading straight for her. His short rest had restored some of his stamina and he had more than enough strength to pursue her again. Seeing the lit explosive, he shook his head. “Not today…” Gaze locking onto it, he ran toward the explosive, but as he came upon it, he jumped up and swung his leg, his heel connecting with it to kick it and launch it back toward the shifter as she tried to flee from him. With any luck, the explosion would be enough to knock her to the ground and finally give him the upper hand he needed to finish her off, once and for all…

Eying the soldier in front of him, the Red Cloaked Soldier didn’t hesitate for a moment, turning swiftly in place, he fired off the daggers into the air, almost as if he was disregarding them. It likely would have seemed strange to anyone to suddenly see the blades go flying into the air rather than the at them. However it didn’t end there, just as soon as he released the two daggers, he drew two more and threw those ones with deadly accuracy directly at Aldaine as he charged forward while drawing another two daggers from his back. With two daggers firing directly at Aldaine, swiftly followed up by the Red Cloaked Soldier with two more daggers in full swing, the attack almost seemed like a three-pronged strike, seemingly using the two fired daggers as a distraction. In many cases, this was true, but Aldaine would quickly find that the swiftness of the attacks and readiness to change mid-strike would be difficult to adapt to, something that very few had been able to master in battle.

[~ @Cyrus ~]

The Black Hooded Rogue had done it, he managed to push back the beast. That was what he thought for the briefest of moments as he watched the tiger revert into humanoid form. However the moment he thought he had the advantage, the moment he thought he had won in his desperation, he was overwhelmed by a sensation of pain that filled him to the core. As he felt himself grow warm and slick with blood. He looked down to find one of his legs had been blown completely off by the blast. The Rogue couldn’t believe it. This couldn’t be, not like this… He turned over in pain a few times as his blood seeped out into the snow around him. He tried to pull himself back as the eyes of the Shifter guard opened and looked in his direction. "N-no… no!..." He let out in despair as he tried to crawl away, a deep red path of blood lining his retreat. He was starting to feel dizzy now, but he still kept moving, crawling slowly to try and get away. He couldn’t let himself die here.

[~ @Cloaked Figure ~]

The Grey Hooded Archer didn’t even try to look back after releasing the explosive. She needed to gain as much distance as she could, and get away from the cloaked figure to recover her composure and return to her colleagues. She was so focused in her escape that she didn’t even notice the explosion has been sent back at her. With only a brief sound and a click as her only indicator, her eyes went wide as the explosion suddenly sent her flying off of her feet and pushing into the trees with the force of hurricane winds. The sudden impact of the explosion was already hard enough, but there was nothing she could do to keep herself from slamming right into the trees. Trying her best to rotate in the air, she was barely able to keep herself from snapping her limbs against strong trunks, but tumbling from one tree to the next still caused her to scream out with each dulling blow. Tumbling firmly in the snow, she used the remaining momentum to try and get to her feet. She was in trouble now, she had to go, she had to flee. Trying to move, she stumbled at first as she tried to steady herself and try to run from her pursuer.

Aldaine watched his opponent carefully. The man had almost zero hesitation in acting out his intent. Thank goodness Aldaine’s brief blackout hadn’t lasted a moment longer, otherwise, he could very well have been in a bad situation. Aldaine watched as the soldier threw his daggers into the air, before drawing another two and throwing them towards Aldaine, while drawing yet another two and charging straight for him. What the soldier didn’t realise is that no matter what he did, Aldaine watched him, and ONLY him and his every, single movement. In any other case, Aldaine would have sighed in disappointment. How naïve was this little pup? The jaguar’s mind understood the strategy perfectly. It was an attempt at distraction. The jaguar had to admit, with such speed and reflexes anyone would have encountered great difficulty in adapting to such speedy and deceptive manoeuvres. Aldaine had to give the extremist credit for his abilities as a warrior. He could tell that this one was skilled, passionate in his way of the blade, his actions spoke as much. However, clearly, he forgot who he was dealing with. Aldaine had fought and killed many in his lifetime. He may have been a noble, but a great deal of his life has focused around combat, whether it was training with Gerot, or constantly training in the army. He had fought countless squads of enemy soldiers, just as skilled as this one, on his own, slicing them to pieces with such ease and precision, it was as if he was carving a cake. He has seen many people, with many varying fighting styles, and with each encounter, he made sure to take a mental note of the ways in which their movements of combat were implemented. But above all else, in these encounters, he analysed his surroundings and NEVER took his eyes off his opponent, whatever circumstance they were in. A moment ago, he may still have possessed his emotionally delicate state, but in that momentary memory, of him and Jenna in that tent, on that battlefield…something changed in him instantly, and he felt a level of determination and focus he hadn’t felt in a long time. It was as if the fire in him was…re-ignited…

Aldaine’s eyes quickly switched to the daggers. They both seemed to be at the same height as they hurled towards him in mid-air, and the extremist himself didn’t leave too much if a distance between the flying piercers and himself as he charged. Good, that was very good. Aldaine took in a brief, yet sufficient view of his surroundings, and in doing so, noticed that his back was to a tree. That was fine. If anything, it was perfect. Exhaling, Aldaine’s eye shot open as he once again channelling his wild strength into his right arm, before drawing Reynard’s katana from its’ scabbard and with one lightening quick motion, he battered the assaulting daggers to the side, the force of his strike being enough embed them into the bark of nearby trees. The attack left him only with the view of the extremist, charging towards him. The soldier was then in the exact position Aldaine needed him to be in. Then, channelling his strength into his upper left arm, he then suddenly struck the tree behind him with a devastating blow, utilising his prothesis as the object that made contact with the bark. The intense vibration would a stream of heavy snow to collapse from the branches above, right down onto the extremist’s head. Regardless of what speed the b*****d had, nothing would stop the snow from blinding his vision. Regardless of how the soldier would react, Aldaine then channelled his feline strength into all four limbs and once again, with his consistent lightening speed, he dashed behind the soldier, while the stream of snow would make contact him, and with one swift and powerful movement, swung his iron prothesis to the back of the extremist’s head, with enough force to knock the soldier unconscious.

...That smell.
It wasn't one that Cyrus was unaccustomed to as he knew it well...and as his vision caught movement somewhere above the snow, his eyes began to focus on the dark shape that appeared to be moving away from the explosion site...

There was no telling what internal damage the Tiger himself may have sustained from not only the initial blast, but the second one that had no doubt maimed his opponent to a state that the Rogue was now bleeding heavily... Naturally, anyone who had been attacked by another may just have left said individual to his fate, but Cyrus was not that type of man...besides that, if the guy died, then they'd have nobody to interrogate, right?

Wincing as it felt as though his insides were rebelling against his motion, the Shifter pushed himself up onto his hands and knees, finding it more of a struggle to rise to his feet as it sent his head spinning and he was forced to steady himself as his eyes sought out the shape that left more than a noticeable trail in the snow...

The first step almost sent him back down into the snow but after a second or two, Cyrus was making a steady advance towards the retreating Hyena, tearing away what he could of his insulating underclothing so that he could at least try to quell the blood that was staining the white powder. With the Rogue so clearly wounded, it didn't take him long to catch up and allowing his own legs to give way, he landed within grasping distance of the other Shifter, reaching out and grasping out for what he could of the Rogue's cloak. "Hold up." Whether or not he actually connected with the Hyena, his intention was to try and find some way to drag the Shifter close - regardless of what he'd done - and slow the bleeding so they could make it back to the Barracks where there might be some way of keeping him alive...

The satisfaction he felt when he watched the explosive do exactly as he intended was immense. The explosion was loud and made his sensitive ears ache, but he ignored the sensation and sprung into action immediately. While the blast had rocked the goat shifter and knocked her into the surrounding trees, he knew that she was acting on her survival instincts and catching her and subduing her would be another task all together.

“You’re mine…” He snarled as he rushed toward her. She was trying to get to her feet, but he wouldn’t allow it. No, she’d gotten away once before and never again, not after what she and her companions had done to his home, his friends, his family. Shifting his hands into deadly claws, he lunged and swiped at her, aiming for her vulnerable back, wanting to rip and tear at her flesh and draw her blood. He wasn’t one to draw out a death and while he did want the extremists to suffer for what they’d done, he’d offer her a quick death at his hand – it was more than she would have offered him…

[~ @Aldaine ~]

Watching carefully, the Red Cloaked Soldier eagerly matched Aldaine's steady eye, noting how carefully he watched him. How carefully he avoided letting himself be distracted, so much so that he focused directly on him, and nothing else. Watching his blades get swiped aside, the Soldier didn't slow, when the sudden pulse on the tree echoed in his ears, the Soldier narrowed his eyes in silent eagerness. Sensing the possible strategies at play, the Soldier suddenly dove forward as the snow fell from the branches, displacing his position by several feet. While attempting to blind the Soldier, Aldaine would in turn, also blind himself. As Aldaine darted around to get around the Soldier, he inadvertedly took up what would have been the Soldier's position had they traded blows, but the Soldier had dove forward moving several feet away from where he would have been expected to be, unexpectedly essentially taking Aldaine's place at the tree's base. As he quickly dove forward, he tucked his body into roll and slid back up to his feet as he spun in place, his feet planted at the base of the trunk as he brought his dagger's up ready to strike once more. In that moment, Aldaine would swing his heavy arm out at his intended target, however miss completely as he swung through nothing more then falling snow, as the Soldiers rolling dive had put a few feet between them. The Soldier would have struck immediately as well, however Aldaine had also unwittingly placed himself into another position that even the Soldier could not have planned if he wanted to, a stroke of possible luck he could not ignore. Instead of attacking, the Soldier stood firm for just the seconds that it would take for the very first two blades that he had thrown high into the air, to come down upon Aldaine from above. As if in a strange taunt, the Soldier then suddenly ran his blades together in front of him, striking his blades just a moment before the falling daggers would land, the Soldier would himself become the "distraction".

[~ @Cyrus ~]

Regardless of what the Black Hooded Rogue had intended, his body soon gave way and he could not stop the Guard from grasping him. As the Guard called out to him, seemingly trying to be the bigger man, to take the Rogue into custody and possibly save his life, nothing would come from the Rogue. He still bled, he still held breath, but his silence would make itself known just as well as his rigidity. Cyrus was now mostly speaking to himself, as the Rogue was no longer conscious and was slowly dying.

[~ @Cloaked Figure ~]

The Grey Hooded Archer didn't even have a chance to regain her footing before her enemy was upon her. The scream she would let out however brief, would echo through the trees just as quick, and then nothing. Silence. As he body fell to the ground at the figure's feet, her blood slowly crawling down his claws, the silent snow would cradle her form, ready to take her lifeless husk in for all time.

“Ahh…interesting…I see you adapt quickly as well.” Aldaine thought to himself. The soldier had managed to evade his strike and dive past the snow and regain his footing. However, Aldaine saw how the soldier had suddenly begun to act, rubbing his daggers against each other. It was then, Aldaine picked up the sound of flying blades from above, the ones the soldier had thrown into the air moments prior. As soon as Aldaine had picked up the sound and interpreted the soldier’s body language, the realisation hit him like a brick.“Hmph, I misjudged you…you are quite the quick one indeed…and you’re just as smug…” All that time, while Aldaine never took his eyes off of the soldier, in his hyperactive state, he was constantly listening to his environment also. He’d have been an idiot not too. He didn’t gain his reputation just by dashing and slashing at what he could see. He had to train himself to adjust to his environments, his training from Gerot greatly benefitted him that regard. Gerot…just the thought of him…and this soldier…the way he fought…Gerot was never the type to take students, the old man had said so himself on many occasions, which often left Aldaine wondering why he agreed to take him on as a student. But the way this extremist acted, his speed, adaptability, his simple movements…it all seemed to portray Gerot’s influence. After all, Gerot, repugnant as it was, did lead the attack squadrons that day two moment ago, so the fact that he may have trained this scum before the attack wasn’t outside the realm of possibility. However, this pup’s skills were nothing compared to Gerots’, hell, he barely came close to the old man.

Regardless, Aldaine had the immediate situation to deal with. Two daggers, approaching from above. As dangerous as it was, it wasn’t that much of a problem to adapt too. Aldaine simply stayed calm and concentrated. He then remembered how the soldier teasingly ran one blade up across the other. As if it was a windup to what was a slow, yet gradual climax. Then it clicked, “Oooooohhh…so that’s it, eh?”He decided to play the extremists’ game and remain “oblivious” to his encroaching doom. He kept his eye on the soldier, but his ears on the daggers. “Closer…” Aldaine thought to himself, his nerves calm, his breathing steady. “Closer…” he thought again. Then, just as the soldier made let out a ring by clashing his blades together, no doubt to use it to signify the moment the blades would make contact with the jaguar, Aldaine, instead, used it as a warning that the time was…-DING-“Now!” In that moment where his mind thrust his body into action, Aldaine quickly backstepped, shooting Rey’s katana back into its scabbard, and grabbed one of the daggers out of the air, while quickly kicking the other straight at the extremist. With no hesitation in following up the counter by then throwing the dagger he had held in his hand, aiming it for the soldier’s leg, his knee in particular. He needed the b*****d alive after all. As much as Aldaine wanted to make him squeal and squirm, this extremist could have valuable information that they could get out of him back at HQ.

Aldaine had heard the screaming and explosions earlier. One male and one female. Neither seemed to by Cyrus’ but that didn’t mean he didn’t need help. Regardless, Aldaine had to commend the Cyrus and their mysterious friend on felling the twisted scum they we’re preoccupied with, if it was indeed the extremists the screams belonged too and not other unfortunate souls. Aldaine did feel a little miffed as he wanted to pay the archer back, but, as long as the extremists died, that’s all that mattered.

Regardless, Aldaine would still focus on his own target, standing ready in case his counter attack went south.

There had to be a way to stem the flow? Although he himself had received who knows what internal injuries from the blast, the Tiger knew that without acting quickly, the Rogue would surely die - the Hyena seemed close enough to the Maker's Doorway as it was... "Try...and -urgh- stay with me...okay?" he had no idea if the guy could even hear him but the least he could do was try...

Dragging the Shifter close, Cyrus would start to apply pressure to the wound, wrapping a tight strip of cloth around the top of the Rogue's thigh and using a thick stick to twist it into a tourniquet in the hopes of stemming any further blood flow before binding it as best he could with what was left of his underclothing... He could feel the chill a little more now, but with adrenaline still pumping through his veins, he felt he could hold off the shivers for just a little longer...

There were the obvious thoughts as he worked which he tried to keep to the furthest reaches of his mind, but with his ears still recovering from the blast, the muffled sound of his surroundings left little else to focus on... For one, just Why should he even try to save this guy? Considering all the innocents he had mercilessly slaughtered those months before - without a single care for whom else would be hurt in the aftermath when they realised just who they had lost...should he not perish for his misdeeds...? Then there was the fact that if he did die, was he not evading those punishments? If he died, was he not getting off easy?

The Tiger shook his head, hoping to banish those thoughts but quickly wished he hadn't as the world seemed to move along with the motion - an afterimage of what he looked at leaving a temporary doubling in his vision before focusing once more on his bloodied hands as he continued to try and bind the wound...

"...May the Fates decide...what happens to you now." Feeling his strength fading and his vision begin to darken around the edges, Cyrus ensured the tourniquet would remain in place before pushing the Hyena away from him and bowing his head as he allowed his hands to relax beside his knees and his eyes to close. He'd done what he could to help and if the Shifter didn't make it, the Tiger could say he had at least tried...Exhaling a sigh, he allowed the darkness to take him, numbing his pain as his mind settled into nothingness.
