GREY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grey hadn't really stopped to think about how hurt they had been; aside from the hand, everything seemed to be mostly fine; certainly still a little sore, but fine. Grey's eyes landed on the bandaged up hand, taking a moment to try and move their fingers. A quick twitch was all they would be able to manage as a quick spark of pain spider-webbed through Grey's hand. Grey winced, quickly relaxing their hand and laying it gently back down onto the bed. Pulling the covers up over themself, Grey turned their head to face the stranger. "Bad person... fire" Grey's words would barely register as a raspy whisper, most likely a result from minor smoke inhalation. Their eyes would drift away from the stranger, leaving the comment to hang in the air for a little bit before chiming in once more. "Scared... thank you"

The girl seemed to deflate a bit from the lackluster responses, but she also seemed to realize her mistake in trying to push you while you were recovering. She held up her hands, shaking them slightly to dissuade the thanks. "No, no! I am just glad I was able to save you. I was able to heal much of your injuries but, as you can tell, I am not strong enough to heal you completely." Her hands fell again and gripped her gown. "A-anyway, rest and recover. I will see if I can find anything edible for when you wake." Her folded wings extended slightly before she faded from sight once more, leaving you alone in the room, the only sound from the crackling fire.
You float in darkness for what seems like an eternity, but at the same time, no time at all. Everything is still, silent, and yet, somehow comforting and warm, as if you were wrapped in the arms of the person closest to you. Above all, it was safe. However, as time passed, you found you could remember who you were in vivid detail, at though you were reliving that life. Those memories seemed to be guided by a disembodied voice that even now faded from your memory. Then all was still once more.
At some point, a mighty crack filled the air, as if a bolt of lightning had struck nearby, and a line of light marred the darkness before you. You barely had time to register the light before it spiderwebbed outward, and the protective void around you shattered altogether. Legs weak, unable to support you, you would likely collapse to your knees in the pile of crystal that now surrounded you. However, after a moment, energy begins to fill you, revitalizing you as you face the new world.
The air about you is bitterly cold, and your first breaths plume in front of you in a small cloud. The only sound is the steady shudder of branches and dead leaves as a steady breeze brushes through them. Likewise, you find yourself kneeling in what seems to be fresh snow, though a pattering of footsteps mars its surface. Around you, although its a little hard to tell past the piles of white, A few buildings stand, though most roofs have collapsed inward. Four of what looks like towers rest at equal distances from the center of the compound, and a half-standing wall cuts off your sight from the land beyond. Although, mountains rise beyond those walls on all sides, revealing you to be in a valley between them.
Nothing alive moves in sight, although one of the nearby buildings still has embers and smoke coming from it from being recently burned, and another has a steady stream of smoke coming from its chimney. One of the trails of tracks leads between the burned building to the latter, lines where something was dragged following beside them.

xxxIt took Kinzoki a few moments before he stood up, still unsure whether the dream was truly over or not. He had already known what had afflicted him, the same thing that had been under research in times past. How he had gotten here exactly though was another question, as his surroundings were unfamiliar. His first immediate thoughts were he was either in a place that was abandoned recently, or in ages past. The set up seemed to be military in nature with the large towers and the half wall. If it was a military location the fact that he saw little signs of life meant it had either been over run or those who had built it had no use for it anymore. Either way, it wasn't the best of signs to wake up to.
The cold didn't phase him to much all things considered, his fake skin being unaffected by the cold. He wasn't entirely immune to it of course but lacked the immediate fear of frostbite or anything to that nature. Standing up to full height he flexed his hands open and closed, watching the mechanical parts slide smoothly as they should as his black and yellow eyes inspected them for any damages. Everything appeared to be in working order, even his eyes were fully functional. Thank god. Now that he thought about it though if he was in some no mans land he'd have to be very careful, getting repairs wasn't easy so far from home.
Searching for answers Kinzoki thought for a moment considering whether to go to the smoke, or go elsewhere. The signs of life was something but at the same time he didn't know whether it was friend or foe. Since he had been sealed up for so long whoever was in there had to have seen his crystal. That meant well they knew he was there he had zero idea who they were.
Decidedly he made a choice and went to the half walls, looking for a way out of this fort so he had a clear path to leave. His memory was fuzzy but he still knew flicker step at least, which would put a good distance between here and wherever he chose to set out to.

Finding a way out of the empty complex wasn't difficult, as there were many holes in the ancient walls to slip through. However, as you approached the walls, chattering could be heard, an unfamiliar language coming from several beings by the sound of it. The higher-pitched, somewhat naselly voices suggested the creatures were on the smaller side even before you saw them. If you sought out the source, peering around the wall would reveal a group of goblinoid creatures with black skin and a variety of colors of masks concealing their faces. The masks themselves were shaped into traditional oni apparitions. Each carried a poor quality weapon, but they were definitely armed.
What was worse, they were headed in your direction, though they seemed to have not noticed you yet. Would you confront them, hide, or make a run for it?

xxxThe life forms to Kinzoki were unknown in nature as well as very much not human. It was a unpredictable variable that he wouldn't risk right now. It did te him at least that this location wasn't one he wanted to stay in.
Without much hesitation Kinzoki would use body flicker to disappear and reappear a great distance away (3 miles) to put some ground between him and whatever made its home in that place. From there he'd head off in an aimless direction, unsure of what the future held for someone like him.

GREY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [apologies that my post took so long to get out. Time was strained the past few weeks. Back on a regular schedule now. Will be posting as often as i used to.]
Grey looked down at their bandaged hand and tried to wiggle their fingers in an attempt to get the full assessment on just how much damage the limb had actually sustained. Each motion, no matter how minor, was met with some degree of pain. Hmm... seems like this will be out of commission for a while. Resigning to their fate as a temporary invalid, Grey slumped back onto the bed only to be startled back up by the sound of a grumbling stomach. It had just dawned on Grey, but they hadn't actually eaten anything since waking up... for the first time that is. There was that incident with the fruit, but we all know how that turned out. Hmm... maybe their new benefactor kept a stash of snacks locked away somewhere. Lazily, Grey got out of the bed and began to wander around the little shack, sniffing the air to try and dig up some grub. Surely they would find something. Even an ethereal ghost-lady has to eat, right?

Unfortunately, there did not seem to be anything in the way of food in the small cabin. However, a couple other items of potential interest were found, though the level of value relied entirely on what you thought of them. You found:
• A threadbare leather jacket that looks like it was sewn together with patches of found leather. It's not particularly pretty, but might provide a little defense and warmth. [E-rank Defense, Scale 3] • A boiled leather helmet in surprisingly good condition compared to the other piece. It could keep the head warm and safe. [D-rank Defense, Scale 3] • A tattered scroll with a faded drawing of what might have been the fort you were in on it. It looks like the person who made it may have been fairly skilled, but it's very old and starting to crumble.
