Eridia couldn't help but shiver at the sight of Awassi's abandoned hive. How it looked before catastrophe was still fresh in her mind-- as if it were yesterday. The highblood had forgotten how much the memories pained her, how her idol got killed... How Tigwyn had died. Deep breaths, she could only take long deep breathes as she walked amongst the crowd.

Honestly why was she there, if this all pained her greatly? Was it the fact that paranormal activity had been seen ever since? Or was it that tiny speckle of hope to see...

"Don't think much girl..." She muttered to herself as she tried to get closer to the blueblooded specialist. Seeing the camera crew pushing their way towards, Eridia did the most sensible thing-- Push them away. She was a highblood and a military officer.

"Sergeant Tsifer, here to help out as much as possible." Eridia flashed an extravagant smile, trying to hide away what she felt at the moment. "Oh Sir!" She said, clasping her hands together smiling at Sarcel and... Nahori? Ooooh! This would be fun. "I didn't except to see you here!"

"Have I seen you aroooound?"
The highblood asked oh-so innocently, battering her lashes at the lowblood. If this was indeed the orangeblood she took out for candy as a kid, things would lighten up for her in a lickety-split. And then things darkened a bit when she saw Psykgi. Oh boy. She tried her best to loosen up her muscles with another smile.

"Look who's come back to this mansion-hive after so many sweeps. How've you been Mentha?"

Nahori didn't notice anything change about Sarcel. The blueblood was good at hiding it and the appearance of another troll was enough to distract her. Actually, the formality was something Nahori was used to only because of her lusus, though the official military capacity was still strange. Should she greet Psykgi by name alone or should she add rank? Should she speak at all? It's not like the redblood was reporting to her...

"Hello, um, Sergeant Mentha. It's... nice to see you again." Nahori kept the tenseness in her shoulders restrained even after Static approached. She thought she recognized him in that vague way one recognizes someone they've seen from a distance, but she didn't have a name to put to the face. He wasn't addressing her, either, but she gave him a small nod.

Okay, alright, doing good, she thought, breathing in a bit deeper. Unfortunately, her carefully crafted togetherness began to crack as soon as Eridia approached. It had been a long time since the candy incident. They were both older, different, but Nahori was good with faces, especially where trauma was concerned. It would be better to lie, deny any knowledge of Eridia, but the orangeblood was still quite conditioned to give in to highbloods.

"It's been... a while," she told Eridia, "but, um... I think we... may have met in... New Hemisect. Perhaps..."

The greenblood gave a polite wave to the fancy man in front.

”Unfortunately my dear lusus is completely ******** indisposed today, managing our fine eatery establishment. I should be capable as hell in taking care of myself however, don't feel the need to watch over me on account of his absence or some s**t!”

Mallok's face a wide genuine smile from cheek to cheek. He turned as he felt a small tap on his shoulder and turned to face the source.

”Ace, I was hoping to spot you! Get the ******** over here!”

The juggalo briefly turned huggalo as he gave his friend a big two-armed hug. He released her quickly once a spark of memory came to him and he reached into his bag.”I almost forgot!” he exclaimed, pulling his hand out and holding the bag of trail mix aloft in front of her.

”It'd be just the absolute s**t if you'd give this a try, it's why I was late!”

Some assorted grains mixed in with chocolate slivers and mind honey-nut cereal circlets filled the bag, along with some other bits that weren't immediately identifiable.

Cynril wasn't sure what he was doing back in Civisect-- back in Awassi's hive. Byakko would kill him when she found out he had escaped, despite knowing well he had been grounded indefinitely. More so if she found out what exactly he was trying to do. If it were anyone else, they wouldn't dare to go back to the place were all his disgraces happened in one night. One night...

It only took one night to erratically change his life.

Just looking at the building from where the group was made his skin crawl. He had just been lurking about, wanting to go in to see what he could find, what he could keep and what could he retrieve from his time there. I just... Don't want others to take what's mine. He thought. Cynril was entitled to take any trash he'd find there. He wondered if any of the trolls volunteering had been at the ball that night, yet he wasn't going to find out. So the teen decided to keep on lurking from a safe distance.

Makkah shot up in excitement as she felt the punch to her arm. She turned to see Avvisi suddenly right next to her and went flushed as she attempted a nonchalant response. What came out instead was a raised hand that almost looked like a wave and a smile that was bit too wide to seem genuine.

"Cant talk, doing work, excellent to see you tho!"

Makkah's face stretched even further in reaction to this, holding her strange smile as she spoke.
”O-oh, yeah, it's totally excellent! Uh, I mean excellent t-to um...”

Makkah stood in the same dumb pose as the bright-eyed reporter pushed her way into the crowd ahead, camera crew in tow.

”...see you...too.”

Makkah watched the group following behind her, taking in their microphone, their shoulder mounted cameras, all the equipment. She slowly opened her bag and looked in. The dusty old camcorder sat there with a red light just barely still able to glow on the front, indicating it was on but not filming. She definitely couldn't let Quillsy see her with this old thing now.

”Ugh, as if.

Makkah cinched the bag closed and stiffened her trembling lip. Her face felt hot and she had half a mind to turn and run straight into the arms of RatDad, who'd been following along at a nominal distance to let his charge mingle in the crowd on her own.

Balling her hands up into fists, she took a long sniffle to get it over with and decided on a plan of action. After all, Avvisi said she had to work right? She was filming this event in hopes of paranormal activity, and Makkah had half a mind to make sure she was Avvisi's inside scoop, genuine or not. But first, she waded through the crowd, looking for good trolls to choose from. If she was gonna pull this off, she'd need at least one partner in crime.

Walking to the front to get a good view, she perked up at the man standing up front who'd asked her a question.

”Yeah, he's probably in the back somewhere. He's super chill about giving me space to grow or whatever.”

“I am an expert - the paramount expert, as it were. Been studying the supernatural since wigglerdom.” He paused to consider their question. “Very good, your lusus must be proud.” He began. “Ghosts can sound like a myriad of things, but many of them retain some form of their pre-death timbre during telepathic communication. Keep in mind that many ghosts have the capability of producing projected sounds, and sometimes hallucinations play into the effect that they themselves are the creators of such noises. I would be quite intrigued to hear your take on some of the unearthly sounds they produce.”

Nodding, Glamis returned to his standing position before being crowded by a perky young greenblood. “Ah! My reputation precedes me. I had no idea that my name would draw a crowd. Yes, of course you may have my signature.” He pulled a notepad out of his pocket and signed his hand with ornate precision. “There you are, young miss.”

ImaginationsParadise

Hm. Glamis’ eyes focused on the bandy teenager in front of him. “Hmm. If it isn’t Guouli Pyrore. Your inadvisable survival sleepover is a fascinating point of data; I’m surprised you didn’t try to punch a ghost yourself in your half-dead, crazed, emaciated state. To answer your question, spirits of Alternia do not exist on a separate plane - they are of the physical realm, as we are. Spirits consist of latent psionic energy that remains after a troll has passed. While you cannot - say - ‘kill’ a ghost by physical means, you can attempt to disperse one by rapidly passing energy through its form. So, yes. Punching a ghost will likely not have any kind of satisfying or visible effect, but it will have a - minor - effect. Excuse me. Lieutenant Cincil, a word.”

The large troll stepped over to the lieutenant for an aside, drawing her close to speak to her in private. He ushered Nahori over as well. “That blueblooded teenager’s name is Guouli Pyrero. He broke into the Punishment Pits and sequestered himself inside before being forcibly removed, harming himself in the process. He is a known criminal with no impulse control, and a history of destruction and sabotage. He has specifically sought out and disrupted paranormal entities. If he impedes this operation in any way, arrest him immediately.”

He gave the two a polite nod and stepped back towards his long scuttlebuggy to the rest of the crowd that had gathered.

Glamis raised his eyebrows at the camera and the tiny tealblood in front of him. Fortunately, he’d been prepared for this inevitability. Since the media had grabbed the military’s story, his crew and the blessed beaurocrats back at base prepared for potentially unflattering media. From his slick black trunk, he produced a folder with a fat stack of legal documents.

“Miss Quills, here are my papers. The Alternian Moon has sole rights to film, record and publish this story. All footage is the right of the Empire and will be seized accordingly. Unfortunately, I’m afraid that means that you won’t be able to bring your crew. If you, ma’am, desire to volunteer, you’re more than welcome to. But you are prohibited from filming for your independent channels.”

He held out the folder, expression cool and level.

“Hmm.” No lusus? Well, that was a vexing decision. Glamis’ simply shrugged. At least the purpbleblood had a protector - somewhere.

      Captain Kursha Vidari

It was the children that first drew Kursha's lookstub, about a half dozen of them scattered across the lawnring. He clicked his tongue against his teeth in annoyance. Awassi's hive (or the remains thereof) was dangerous. Kids had no place there, especially not without the accompaniment of a lusus.* Unless they were very careful (lucky) they were going to get themselves killed. Maimed at the very least. Maybe he could encourage one to do something exceptionally stupid later. Alternia's natural selection at its finest.

Disregarding the children for the time being, Kursha made his way over to where the bulk of the crowd had gathered. He recognised more than one set of horns present, some expected, others... he thought they might have known better. Either way, he was not surprised.

“Well, well. Look what the purrbeast dragged in,” The greenblood drawled, approaching the purpleblood from behind. As usual, he wore his rifle strapped over his back, and combat knife at his hip. “I gotta say, you look like fit right in with this mess. Did you come to pay your respects to your dead boyfriend?” His eyes flickered briefly to Psykgi, but he he made no remark on the redblood's past behaviour. Either he had decided to only antagonise one troll for the time being, or he had forgotten about the incident entirely.

*Never mind that he was exactly the same way when he was their age.

Ah, here came some more military personnel. Sarcel was admittedly more acquainted with some rather than others, but she had it in her best interest to at least match names to symbols. "Charge," She addressed Static amiably, "And Tsifer. Good on you both to show up." The exchange between her and Nahori was... interesting. The two had a history? Considering Nahori's response, Sarcel wondered how well that fared. Then again, Nahori's response to just about everything was spoken in nearly the same, timid timbre that it was hard to tell at all. Well, it wasn't any of her business really.

Just as she was about to open her mouth to speak, Glamis inched over for her attention. Given the circumstances, she turned to address him immediately, "A moment." She turned to leave Static, Eridia and Psykgi to their own devices for a bit.

What Glamis had to say was... interesting at best and concerning at worst. She resisted the urge to look towards the blueblood in question as Glamis spoke about him--no need to be incredibly obvious about the topic they were discussing--but his record sounded remarkable for a teenager of all things. "Understood. Did you get all of that, Caviap?" She gave her trusted recruit a pat on the shoulder.

With this information in mind, Sarcel waited until Glamis had meandered back in front of the media to look at this blueblood. She supposed it was the shirtless individual covered in scars. Indeed...

And because that couldn't be the least of her worries, their overtly competent Captain had decided to show up as well. Well, it wouldn't be proper unless the majority of the trolls from that night decided to participate, right? Well whatever, she wasn't his babysitter, so she wasn't about to intervene between him and Eridia. Sarcel was beginning to run out of eyes to watch the growing crowd with, though.

She turned her attention back to Nahori instead, "If you notice any abnormal behavior from that troll in question, report it back to me immediately, understood? Don't try to confront them without back up." She would brief the other members of the military that showed up when it got closer to embarking on their ghost adventure. No sense in repeating herself multiple times to stragglers that showed up late.

Lorata had never even considered coming back to this place. What point would there have been? The bad memories and burned out wreck of a building weren't worth her time anymore. But apparently they had been worth someone else's and the reports had gained enough attention to lead to this. The seadweller paused on the grass, still some distance away from the gathering trolls, and took a moment to consider under the pretense of straightening out the nonexistent wrinkles in her military jacket.

She skimmed over the trolls, the husk of a building, and let her eyes drift out over the ocean. Was the ladder down still there on the cliffside? It felt simultaneously like it could have been too many sweeps or only nights since everything had happened. Since the sharp spikes just beneath the waves, since Chiara, since Sarcel's promise. She shook her head, curls bouncing with the movement, and glanced back at her dearest friends with a small smile.

"Stay close to me, whatever happens." If the order was a little more serious than she'd intended, that was fine. She followed it up with a cheery promise of her own. "Or else how am I going to tell you all about what the hive used to be like?" With that, she motioned them forward with her as she finished the approach towards Glamis and the others.

"This is quite the reunion! I'm so happy to see you all here." This was directed entirely towards those teens and adults of the growing crowd that she recognized, her attention lingering on Kursha and then Sarce in particular a moment before turning to the man of the hour. "And Glamis Harice himself. It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Lieutenant Lorata Gorgos, here to assist."

It felt like it had been ages since Odette graced the presence of the public. While searching through an old haunted hive for ghosts didn't sound like her typical style of event, her restlessness eventually won out. Not to mention she had to keep up some relevancy in the news, if anyone were to remember her name by the debut of her musical.

What little she knew about the hive did keep her interest. It belonged to another starlet, one whose work she was familiar with from childhood. The mysteries that transpired in the long-abandoned house pulled at Odette's thoughts. It felt nostalgic, but also like a warning of what could come to her, should she fail to play her cards correctly.

She had little intention of questioning the blueblood, who already seemed to be bombarded with an abundance of curious trolls. Perhaps her own appearance would lighten the burden off of him?

Odette surveyed the surrounding trolls, a familiar greenblood caught her eye. This night would be interesting, surely, but for now she couldn't approach him. That was far too dangerous, and too drastic for so early in the night. Instead, she positioned herself in his line of sight, as well as in the vicinity of the camera crew. With soft steps, she approached a familiar little purpleblood with a camera of her own.

"Hello Little Mak," Odette addressed Makkah with a tone of familiar politeness, squatting down closer to her height. "Are you here to record your latest music video?" She asked with a soft giggle, daintily holding her hand to her chin.

This was pretty outside of Floren's normal repertoire of things he'd be interested in doing, but... A troll had to be well rounded, right? Dipping into things outside of his normal scope would be good for him. At least that was what he told himself and... what he'd continue telling himself to justify bringing poor Skoli all the way out to Civisect. His lusus was not yet visible to anyone else, but the large worm was still around, just... underground. He hoped Skoli wouldn't go too close to the cliff. While Glamis dealt with speaking to the small crowd of trolls, Floren busied himself with examining some of the plants around the hive- they sure were out of control. Maybe some were more useful than being just decor?

Quote:
feel free to grab floren!

Mihail didn't really have much interest in the supernatural, but he'd heard that it was a good opportunity for some volunteer work that may attract military attention, so... he'd begged Aligaa to let him go. It seemed it paid off- he recognized a few of the faces in the crowd, but didn't want to interrupt. They seemed like they were busy, introducing themselves and all that. He figured he might as well move closer anyway though, just in case the blueblood in charge had anything interesting to say

Avvisi was speechless. He had just completely handed the tealblood her own spinal seat. And there was nothing she could do. She boxed it tho. You had to be cool in situations like this, especially when the world might just very well be watching. "Thank you!" She said, putting her microphone away. "Im glad we will not have to hash out rights and the like afterwards." She forced her grin on. "I admire you a lot sir, im looking forward to seeing you work!" She pulled out one of her cheap cards. "If you ever need an assistant, or are okay with having someone shadow you, please consider me." With that she nodded her head to the other troll, and went back to her own camera troll. "Sorry Carrel, looks like its a no go. Thanks for coming!"

Her facade fell and she felt tears come to her eyes. She wasn't going to stop recording, of course. She still had her camera, recorder, and notebook, so not all was lost. But, she had just been humiliated in front of everyone... Avvisi scanned the crowd for her friend, Makkah, desperate for a friendly face. She was hopeful the highblood wouldn't mind even giving her a hug. Avvisi smiled as she saw her friend, adamant to keep the tears back at least until she was with the purpleblood. The tealblood stopped in her tracks. Odette was talking to Makkah. Avvisi felt her plumpbiscuit rise in her throat. She could not see someone famous right now, not when she was so close to tears. Quick quick, keep it together, turn it around. The tealblood told herself.

The tealblood let out a sigh, trying to relax, and she looked around for other opportunities. She noticed the greenblood she had pushed out of the way and she felt bad. The tealblood went up to the girl, trying to keep away from Glamis, and the shame that flared inside her. "Hello," Avvisi started, patting the other girl's shoulder. "Im sorry i pushed you out of the way. Guess i got a little, um, excited..." Avvisi hoped to glub that this troll hadn't watched her get humiliated by Glamis. "But i saw you have a notepad and stuff, are you interested in journalism or something?" Avvisi glanced back at the purpleblood, Makkah, and tried to keep her smile on. Man she just wanted her friend.

Static relaxed as Sarcle turned away and he was left with some other, less intimidating, military trolls. "Hello," He started, addressing Psykgi and Nahori. The blueblood turned towards the orangeblood, Nahori. "Its nice to meet you, i, um-" Static was interrupted as a rather loud purpleblood stepped up to the group. He gave Nahori an apologetic look as the purplebood seemed to bully her, and wished he could actually do something.

Then the heat seemed to rise even more as another well known face came into view. Captain Kursha Vidari. The blueblood froze for a second, and then regained himself, only to pale a little as the greenblood seemed to aim his own words at the purpleblood, Eridia. Oh this was getting a little out of control, and Static wished he had more leverage. He did what he could tho. "Captain Vidari! Its a pleasure to see you again. Im Static Charge." The blueblood said, hoping to defuse the hostile situation between Kursha and Eridia. "If there is anything i can do to help, please call on me!" Static said, saluting the Captain.

A greasy, kinda short blueblood teen leaned on their head before Glamis could answer their question. Frowning, Acteon looked up at him. "Oh yeah, you've heard ghosts?" They tapped into that voice of the blueblood teen. Once they've heard something it usually wasn't too hard to use... "Did they sound like something-" Acteon mimicked Guo's voice now, a strange thing hearing a teenage boy's voice from the face of a young girl, "a pro would expect?" They stuck their tongue out and focused instead on their friend.

Acteon allowed their friend to pull them into a big hug (despite the teenager on their head), and gave a slow, languid smile to him before taking his offered goods. Assorted snack treats... yum. Though his lusus wasn't there. His funny, funny sounding Chefpop. "These look... fine as hell, my guy," they said with a laugh. They'd try them out when there was a little less going on.

When Glamis answered them, they beamed. "He is proud!" Behind them, the crocotta nodded. They listened carefully and put a hand on their cheek contemplatively. If they were to ever be a ghost, they could certainly wreak havoc with their power combined with spectral psionics. They weren't too good at ventriloquism yet, but they could probably project a voice too! "Once we hear the ghosts I can show you exactly what they sounded like, even if it's a really weird noise," they said with a grin.

Kerras nodded eagerly, wishing their lusus would hurry it up already. They had heard the speech a hundred times before, and with each new retelling it seemed to last longer than before. It took all their effort not to mouth along the words, as the Grove Warden rambled on in his slow, deliberate fashion. They could not help but fidget at the forest's edge however.

The script changed suddenly. Kerras snapped to attention and the ancient lusus bent onto one knee. Up close they could see his otherwise stony face creased with worry, beneath the mossy mask. Crouched as he was, he looked small, and almost... A pod fell from his fingers, cracking open on the moist earth. Kerras only had eyes for their lusus.

The Grove Warden's words came back to Kerras in a rush as they regarded the ruined hive. They knew the hive promised danger, and they had sought it out anyways, but now, looking upon it for the first time, they truly felt it: an air of malevolence. A chill went down their spine. They hung back, wondering they should at least reconsider their plan. Perhaps the Grove Warden had been right... The podling at their feet on the other hand, let out a bored grumble. It seemed decidedly less impressed.

As Kerras surveyed the site, lookstubs wandering over the older trolls, they spotted a lone greenblood off to the side. The boy appeared to be investigating the former garden—or at least what Kerras assumed was at one point a garden judging by how overgrown it was. Mind made up, they picked their way around the others to join the greenblood.

“Looking for something?” Kerras asked, stooping down beside the boy. The podling tottered between the pair, regarding the other troll with a baleful if somewhat bored expression.
