You are now in the west outgrowth of a giant hive, situated in the most expensive land-dwelling part of Civisect City..

West Outgrowth Locations
Library:
A block previously chock-full of knowledge has been reduced to charred tatters. You can clearly make out the remains of some particularly promising books that have tumbled here and there, but they are in reality tome-shaped ash piles. There is a significant sinking spot in the Library, almost an ominous sinkhole where the floor has all but collapsed. Burnt-out skeletons of book cases are toppled at odd angles inward towards the hole. What used to be a husktop on a large desk is now a pile of twisted metal - which has almost turned back into high art when you consider it at a certain angle.

LEVEL 4

Investigation Tables:

Quote:
Level 1 & 2 (roll 1d6)
1. ITEM! Notify staff in discord!
2. HAZARD: You stumble over the remains of a bookshelf, which leaves its splinters in you as it shifts even more dangerously towards the center of the room.
3. OBSTACLE: You pick up what appears to be a semi-intact book and it dissolves in your hands.
4: OBSTACLE: An enormous picture frame that used to be hanging on the floor is now directly in your path. Walking around it means you're definitely in the sinking floor, but walking on top of it means avoiding huge shards of broken glass.
5: HAZARD: Someone has placed a large plank of wood over one of the holes in the library floor. When you try to cross it, you barely manage to make it to the other side before it falls in. Oops.
6: ITEM! Notify staff in discord!

Basement:
It requires a significant amount of digging and squeezing through a tight, nearly collapsed corridor to make it into the Basement. Surprisingly, the basement appears to have made it out of the fire in decent form. The cement floor is steady, though the racks of flimsy storage have melted from the heat into abstract shapes. The eerie iron cage is still standing, leaning to one side in a melancholy fashion. Behind it, the wall of the basement has been busted out into a steep, earthy drop-off leading to the catacombs. Watch your step.

Current West Outgrowth Activities
Investigation! Follow the rules below to play.

How to Play:

Each day, you can explore one section of the burnt-out mansion (North, West, East, South). The process is dangerous, as the structure of the building is crumbling. Roll dice as many times as you would like until you hit the catacombs, are forced to retire or otherwise decide to end your investigation for the night. You are welcome to search in groups or solo.

Each room has a structural integrity level between 1 and 4, with 1 being the least dangerous and 4 being the most dangerous. All rooms start at 1. When a player or party falls into the catacombs, the room level increases by 1.

Level 1-2: Roll 1D6 (2 items, 2 hazards, 2 obstacles)
Level 3: Roll 1D8 (2 items, 3 hazards, 3 obstacles)
Level 4: Roll 1D10 (2 items, 4 hazards, 4 obstacles)

Hit 3 hazards in a day: The floor where you're standing gives out, and you fall into the catacombs. You cannot make any more rolls for the day and must escape the catacombs before you can roll again.

[Catacombs Link (you must RP your escape before rolling for your next day's investigations)]

Hit 2 (plus 1 per troll in your party) obstacles in a day: Retire to outside the hive; you cannot make any more rolls for the day.

[Outside Link (you do not need to RP here if you are forced to retire for the day)]

If you search in a party, roll as a group rather than as individual trolls. The number of hazards and obstacles you encounter will be added to your group total.

If you are in a party and your teammate rolls a third hazard for your group: roll D10 to try and save your teammate! An 8,9,10 is a success - you pull them up and can keep rolling, but the room takes damage and increases by one level. A 5,6,7 means that you both fall in. And a 1,2,3,4 means that your whole party falls in. Whoops! The rest of your party can retire to rejoin you, or choose to continue on without you until they roll out as well. Your hazard count resets, but your obstacle count does not. Check your new obstacle threshold based upon your new party count. If the loss of your party members puts you over this threshold, you must retire for the day!

Quote:
Example: Action Team is a group of 3 trolls in a room rated 1. If they hit 3 hazards they may fall into the catacombs, and because they have a group of 3 they will have to retire if they hit 5 (2+3) obstacles during their investigation.

Troll A rolls a hazard, Troll B rolls a hazard, and Troll C rolls a hazard. Three hazards! Troll A decides to try and save their teammate and rolls D10. They get a 5. Troll A and C fall into the catacombs. The room's rating increases to 2. Troll B can continue to investigate alone. Their hazard count resets, but now they can only hit 3 (2+1) obstacles before they must retire because their two teammates fell into a big hole and they are the only member left in their party. sad

Cynril quickly heads to the basement as he noted trolls going inside the cursed building. He sure didn't know where he was going, as he never really explored the hive until that night. The memories flooded his mind, remembering them one last time. The last time he had seen his morail. The mutant shuddered, just thinking about it. He really should have tried to save them, if he hadn't been so scared back then..

Lurking, he made his way to the basement, seeing familiar things compared to his vivid memory. Things had changed so much... and there wasn't probably many things to loot. But whatever he could find, he'd take it with him as a reminder of what his life was back then.

In fact he had found something!

Looting the item for himself, Cynril decided to keep on looking around. His eyes couldn't quite glance at the cage. He couldn't look at it, it haunted him... The teen took a few deep breaths before continuing his search. If only he had a speckle of hope for his dear friend, alas he knew well that was foolish. Cynril knew the mutant that saved him spoke the truth.

He blinked several times before realizing he was on the verge of tears. No, not here. He needed to be strong. He held it in and turned around. It seemed like something else caught his eye. What was that?

Cynril finds...

Quote:
    Fur Clumps
It's gray, indicating it's either not from a lusus, or the lusus in question was very dirty. It's quite soft.

Cynril was... lucky to find things, yet he kept on searching the area. Looting the medal and fur into his bag, the disguised mutant continued his search until the basement's slim entrance collapsed. He felt trapped like an animal, as it the building wanted to keep him there since he had escaped.

"No, no, no!" He screamed as he rushed his way to the entrance and cleared out the rubble. Only when he had finished, he felt at ease. There was no way he was staying here again.

Taking more than enough breaths, as s**t was getting terrifying, Cynril kept looking. He accidentally stared at the cage for more than a few moments. He forced his stare on anything else and walked around. Thinking how different the basement look from outside the cage. He remembered the place different. Homier even... Would there still be candy left overs?

That was an important question.

Cynril was so lost in thought that he stepped on something. Yuck!

Ew, okay. Thank goodness Cynril had stolen some shoes. Otherwise he would have puked.

"Eww..." He whimpered, slowly walking away from what ever he had stepped on. Okay, so this wasn't so bad. I mean, sure this place was abandoned but up until now, Cynril hadn't encountered any dangers. Suddenly, a rumble could be felt, shaking the basement in the process.

"Oh s**t, oh s**t, oh s**t!" Cynril tried his best to hold his ground. Begging for this to stop.

That was terrifying beyond all levels. Cynril shivered, thinking what else could happen in here. What if... someone culled him? What if they were hiding as he lurked and searched, observing his every move? "Okay, that could be stupid. I mean, wh-who'd stay long enough here?" He said, in attempts to make himself calm.

Something fell down, however, and the mutantblood took notice. Maybe it was something useful!

Cynril finds:

ImaginationsParadise
    Dirt clod
You spot a uniquely shaped object on the floor. It has a matte finish and an interesting, fist-sized shape. You pick it up. It's dirt.

Continuing his search, Cynril stepped on more unidentified icky stuff and he was so glad for the shoes he had stolen earlier. If it weren't for them, god knew what it'd do to his skin. Scraping whatever the hell that was off with the floor, the entrance once again collapsed with sent the mutant into a frenzy.

Better fix that quickly!

"Gog!" Cynril exclaimed as he nearly slipped. Seriously? Was the room becoming goo? He really hoped not. Cynril scrapped off whatever it was again and tried walking around supporting himself with the walls. Really, he had to think things through for once.

Cynril couldn't stop himself from finding even more things! It was surely his lucky day! He couldn't believe it, and folks back home would call him useless. Ha, he wanted to see Forera's face when he told everyone his success here. Well not everyone but still! He was achieving great things tonight!

Cynril finds:

ImaginationsParadise
    Elegant Outfit
The remains of this black fabric is so fine and gauzy, it's difficult to discern what it used to be. Either it once had tassels, or a trash creature made very meticulous work of its edges.

Oh god! This room seemed to be filled with treasures! And he was taking ALL of them. Those trolls outside didn't deserve anything. This was all his, this technically was his as he had lived here before. So everything was rightfully his as Awassi was sure to be dead and they weren't reclaiming anything.

Cynril was about to leave, yet something else called his attention. He swore someone called him and as he looked back, it seem that whatever it was lurked near the cage. It drew him in, slowly Cynril walked his way towards his old cage. He looked around it, remembering his time inside. Then he looked into the chasm and gulped. It only took one wrong step to...

He felt pressure on his lower back, making his skin crawl. Cynril turned around and saw nothing. He looked down the chasm again and felt the floor giving out, making Cynril fall into the catacombs.
