If Engrav rolled his eye any harder, he could have killed himself. Yet another example of why high blood didn't always mean high-minded. The inventor took a second to study the young blueblood. Flight jacket told him that the wiggler was from the ground crew during the space race, but that was about it. The yellowblood took a moment and studied their face, wondering if it would be valuable to keep an eye on them in the future. Possibly.

Possibly.

"Of course, we're all aware of who Erylin is," Engrav said, acid dripping off each syllable. "After all, that was included in Glamis's briefing. I should have been clearer in my queries. What I was asking is this: Has anyone in the room actually ever MET Erilyn? Know any of their quirks or foibles? Anything that could potentially calm them or put them to rest?" He massaged his thinkpan carefully, trying to expunge the ache that was rapidly developing. The inventor carefully placed the ring of jingling keys in the rapidly growing circle.

"There's no real point in getting touchy before the spirit is even summoned, that could just agitate them even more." Honestly... even without the disrespect to a higher blood he should know better as someone older than... whoever the blueblood was. He hadn't quite caught their name.

"Still?" He looked to Isthai and frowned a little. He'd already offered up what snacks he had to spare. Perhaps he was going through a growth spurt or something. Floren had read metabolisms sped up during such processes... "Regardless, usual calming techniques involve lowered vocal tones and active listening skills. That of course only works if they do not appear already enraged."

"A few of us present here were also at the ball," She vaguely recalled the seadweller in charge as being there...? "But I can't say for sure if any of us knew Mx. Awassi personally or got to know them very well over the course of the night." Well. Until... "Before they were put on trial and attempted to kill us all, anyway. But it is possible that someone did." Like Eridia famously managed to with Gerard, at least in her own mind's eye. Even so, Hemera doubted that anyone was likely to know Erilyn intimately. If there was a fantroll among them, they likely would have mentioned the factoid by now.

She nodded along to what the jadeblood present had to say. "Those are good starting points. We should also keep in mind that this is not the place or time to bring up any of Awassi's crimes without provocation. They already met with some form of justice." Though she did have to exhale a little, not 100% believing that herself. But escalating things would do no good, either. Hemera had to keep reminding herself of that. "So. To start with, there is the fact that this is their hive. A safe place, a place they could trust to protect them when they ran from their crimes. Further, Comedi was their moirail. We might be able to use his memory to soothe them further."

Mera had to give a tight shrug, though. She wanted to be more helpful, but even with military information, she only had access to so much that would be relevant to this specific venture. "Those are only ideas. I should think Lieutenant Gorgos will have the best handle on the situation." She did have the direct line to Glamis, after all. Between the two of them, the rest of the team should have some rather sound leadership.

That hemoanon was still going on about being hungry. Didn't he almost die eating trash? Even after the blueblood girl went to the trouble of offering Mallok's good trail mix to him. Hm. They took a handful of the trail mix out of their pocket and ate it. His loss. The mix was delicious.

"Did you need a briefing to know that? Still, if you know who Erilyn is," they repeated in the same acidic tone as the one-eyed yellowblood, using his voice as they stretched, "Then you can calm down yourself, dude. Maybe they're impossible to calm down because they got into a fight with their moirail anyway~" they said in a singsong tone. Who was this yellowblood? He wasn't military. He had nothing over them.

"Or maybe they need to be sung to. I'd be perfect for that," they added, smug. They were an excellent singer! However, the greenblood was at least thinking more logically about actual things. It wasn't like knowing Erilyn personally would make anyone better at calming them down, without actually having the skills necessary to not piss them off further. "But we can sure try all that other stuff, maybe even if they're pissed as hell."

Scorpa felt a little strange in her rebel disguise. The multicolored poncho sat on her waist as a make-shift skirt. She hoped that the fact it was multicolored would win her points with Erilyn. Rebels were all about that s**t, right?

"Remember, stay calm and be cool." The yellowblood spoke with the rest of the sirens. They weren't here to soothe the deceased singer with all that Kumbayalala crap. They were here to see what information they could extract and hope that any of it was still useful. Scorpa worried that it would be worthless since it was bound to be outdated by now but there was a small chance they'd get something good! No matter what it was better to try something than to take no action at all!

"Do I sound okay?" Scorpa asked, deciding to use a character voice. She spoke with a gentler lilt in an attempt to sound whimsical and sweet. Scorpa did better when she attempted to take on a character. It would be tough to go against everything she knew and fought for but this was for the right cause! Eventually...

"If anything happens, we'll shield you while you use the communicator, okay?" Scorpa nodded, figuring that they could rely on Glamis to use his doomsday device if things went really bad.

"Excellent work, everyone, I see the items have been arranged." Flydra gave Engrav a friendly wave and small smile. It was good to see the yellowblood again. It looked like the young highblood, Elyias, had placed the record down and the rest of the items were in place.

The Civisect Sirens rolled into the room, looking somewhat frazzled but still haughty, wearing a mixture of casual clothes borrowed from other civilians and their plain underclothes from under their uniforms. Flydra fixed the jacket they had borrowed from Garand to sit presentably on herself. Their outfits looked kind of weird but at least all military identification was gone.

Now they were rebels, unpredictable and dangerous. Just like Erilyn.

"We are staging a special operation. Please do not mention the military at all in this seance. We want to communicate with the rebel to learn more about the rebellion's objectives and plans." Flydra looked to Hemera, the ever intelligent and respectable sergeant. Her cooperation would be key to the success of this mission. "Would you mind removing your uniform jacket until after the seance? We greatly need your help with this matter, Sergeant Moachm." Somehow, it seemed unlikely that Erilyn would give up any information unless they were sure it would not fall into the opposition's hands. Which meant they all had to be very careful.

Sure, the information they might get would be outdated. But that didn't mean it wouldn't still be valuable!

Hemera looked at her fellow tealblood. "Hm." Was this really the time or place? With that outfit, no less? But if it was cleared by Lorata, she wasn't about to argue against the mission. If successful, there could be valuable information. But if it didn't work... "I don't believe that Awassi was directly a rebel; they appeared to be a major supporter, but that is enough, no?" Something something sabotage and funding. Mera did take off her jacket, and removed it from the block to avoid any last minute reveal-related catastrophies. She had seen enough movies before to be savvy about that much.

She returned, contemplating if the rest of the group (her included) was expecting to have acting skills for this exercise.

A low moan of wind echoed through the ballblock, but faded gently into the non-paranormal background noises of the hive. The vast room sat silent - was Awassi even there? Rumor had insisted that they had survived the fall into the ocean, using some sort of hidden tricks or traps. There had been no time to conduct a real search until after the fire had wiped away all traces of trickery. Perhaps Erilyn was shacked away in some wealthy patron's house, laughing away into the night with them over an expensive decant. Another low moan echoed through the burned out block, and this time, with a bang and crash, the burned out shell of a chair resting against the wall was firmly and decisively thrown to the side, shattering into charred pieces as it hit the floor. Where it had once sat, a small click sounded, and a small hidden cupboard in the wall, no larger than a troll's head, swung it's door open. And in the silence, a gentle and tinkly tune began to echo from inside the revealed space.

There was so much going on in the room, between people's snarky banter and clothes coming off that Ely didn't know who to acknowledge or which way to turn. Some raised good points, others she saw no point in discussing. Banter was boring in regards to a storyOH MY GOG.

As she was mulling over her next move, Eiylas witnessed proof that whoever else was in the room was not okay, considering that what she presumed was Awassi threw a freaking chair Giving a jump and a terrified yelp, Ely backed up and bumped into another troll. "Ack!" She then jumped again, and then looked to where the music was coming from.

Music... that could only mean... "They're here..." her voice came out barely a whisper, and now that she was out of the initial shock-zone, Ely slowly took a few steps towards the hidden cupboard. But then she stopped in her tracks. No, it'd be irresponsible to go in without backup, right? Swallowing deeply, she turned to face the rest of the group and piped up in a shaky voice "I think... they want to show us something. Come on."

The thrown chair earned a bit of a start out of Floren. He stared after it, wide eyed for a few moments before remembering himself and forcing a more even look over his face. Right. Calm. No need to get freaked out... they had plenty of protection with them. He shuffled closer to Ely as she moved forward. As level headed as she'd been when they were exploring the hive earlier, he still though it would be a bad idea for any of them to stray too far from the group.

"That opening doesn't look very big..." Well... he looked around at the group. It would probably be easier for a smaller troll to look through, but... smaller meant younger and younger meant less able to defend oneself.

She didn't realize how much she had tensed up when she jumped a little, spooked by the chair. Ghostly presence indeed. Hemera watched the cupboard unfold, admittedly a little mesmerized. Eiylas's voice snapped her out of it.

"Hold on." Hemera looked around and assessed. "I think older trolls should take point, children behind, and their lusii following. We don't know what's going to happen after we look at this. And I think we should keep a decent distance as well."

As the initial moment of silence stretched on in the ballblock, Lorata began to wonder if something had gone wrong. Frankly, she was going to be extremely irritated if it turned out she'd gone through the trouble of trying to hide her military status from the ghost for nothing. The red bandana wrapped uncomfortably around her head in a too quick attempt to cover her fins felt just ridiculous, after all.

She was almost relieved when the chair crashed against the wall, enough to pretend she hadn't just jumped with an undignified gasp at the suddenness of it. And then the opening compartment, the haunting melody... Eiylas wasn't the only one immediately drawn towards it. No one had ever said sirens were immune to others' songs. Hemera's voice brought her to a brief stop alongside the children, though, and she blinked before smiling down at them.

"Hemera's right! So let me lead the way, alright?" Maybe it would have been better to have one of the others go in first, especially since she had the communicator, but Lorata still wanted a look for herself. And leading by example was important, right? What could possibly go wrong?

Without waiting for a confirmation that she didn't need, the seadweller finished her approach and bent to look into the revealed chamber.

"Is it a music box?" Flydra murmured, listening to the faint sound. It was not a song she had heard before but the melody was melancholic and pleasant to listen to. She followed behind Lorata, the lieutenants crowding around the cupboard to inspect the contents inside. There was the chance that it was dangerous still, even if it had a deceptively delicate sound to distract them. They didn't need another bombing in Civisect to further destroy the highblood paradise they'd worked so hard to build.

"If needed, I am willing to sacrifice my arm to deal with this object." One of the many benefits of outfitting herself with a prosthetic was that her arm was disposable. She would be willing to grab hold of the source of the sound to destroy or dispose of it if necessary.

"Try shining your light on it." Scorpa suggested as she joined Lorata and Flydra in approaching the cupboard. It was dangerous but important for the military officers to investigate before letting the civilians expose themselves to any harm. While the yellowblood was in the military mostly to further her own agenda, she did see the value in protecting others. She was going to be a hero for not only herself but also Lorata dammit.

"Also, does anyone recognize the song?" Scorpa couldn't quite place the melody. She wasn't sure if the song had any special significance but figured she'd open up the floor if anyone else remembered it. The twinkly sound was haunting but also enchanting. The yellowblood squinted as she peered into the cupboard and braced herself, ready to block anything hostile from lashing out if needed.

"And could someone keep an eye on the room while we look?" It was the less glamorous job but an important one nonetheless. It was entirely possible this cupboard was a trap to lead them into a vulnerable position while something sneak up behind them. Also it would give the children a way of helping them if a threat suddenly appeared unexpectedly.

Acteon held back a huff. All the older trolls immediately crowded the cupboard space, demanding the children stay back. They wanted to see what was inside! Weren't they good enough to look too? Better than some of the trolls here. The soft tinkling tune that played was vaguely familiar, perhaps from some movie or game, but they didn't recognize it as something the singer had performed with. But who knew.

"The song doesn't sound like nothin' Erilyn did, at least..." Acteon verbalized to the group. The young blueblood girl's lusus stiffened a little despite their protests, taking a protective stance standing guard beside them. Steppy spoke a few notes from the music, his jaws chittering. The girl stepped a bit closer to the other trolls, the anxiety and fear in the air starting to affect even them now.
