=>[MINI-META] The Wrecked South Outgrowth

The creaking, perpetual dissonance of the mansion filled the Trophy Room. It feels practically alpine from the ghastly chill in the air and the ocean breeze flitting through the gaping hive. The flapping of the ragged tarps up above cast shifting patterns across the small group of trolls huddled inside. It's hard to hear subtle sounds above the waves crashing, and the hive crying out from its architectural distress. But finally, a promising sound echoes from the floor.

Deep rumblings slowly track from the outside of the room, to its center. Floorboards - or what's left of them - vibrate in turn as a force unknown makes its way, at last reaching the circle. Suddenly, there was a banging on the floor. Soft, at first, like a guest at the door. Then the banging increased. Hiking up in tempo, and in ferocity, until the sound was accompanied by a tortured yell and a thundercrack.

With a flash of lightning over the ocean, the sound is silenced. In its place, the block shakes violently.

Glamis' voice suddenly breaks through over the radio. "Is everything okay in there? Just picked up a massive spike of energy. I need to recalibrate; hold on."

Kerras Farron

Kerras crouched near the edge of the circle, lookstubs wide and expression intense. Beside them, the podling flailed on its side. Its arms and legs wiggled helplessly in the air. Hearing its disgruntled cries, the tealblood reached to grab it. A sudden lurch threw them off balance. They crashed to the floor, landing heavily on their side.

As the earth continued to quake, they righted themself and crawled toward the podling. They gathered up the creature in their arms, and hunkered down on the floor, watching the circle with a mixture of fear and awe.

“ᵂ⁻ʷʰₐₜ'ₛ ʰ⁻ₕᵃᵖᵖₑₙᵢⁿᵍ?” they stammered with a mouthful of chattering teeth.  

[Gl!tch~]

Banging, banging, banging. Rising fear. Possibly losing control over the situation, though Mera questioned if there was any control to begin with. It was a struggle just to keep her footing.

Among the alarm, she had to stay calm. Somehow. With all the noise and the unbalance, she was having a hard time.

"I'm not sure!" Mera called, at a volume that did its best to be heard, though it was unclear if it was to Glamis, Kerras, or both. Still, she edged closer to the scared child, though her gaze was mostly on their stressing surroundings.

And that screaming... "Helmsman Ioyana?" she asked of the room. "Are you there? We're here to help you, those of us who can, now, but couldn't in the past... And I personally know your crew." She had Malory's ring, after all. "Please let us know if we can assist!"  

[Sypon]

The shaking ceased, leaving the hive creaking dangerously. There was a low groaning that faded into the distance.

“Alright, everyone doing okay? Seems like the spiritual energy in here is indiscernible from the massive amounts of psionic energy I’m picking up. Sit tight and stay calm. It looks like it’s spreading a bit now though, away from your outgrowth. Your subject may be a bit flighty. Either he doesn’t want to talk, or he’s getting reinforcements. There was a bit of a lightning flash and a tremor in your specific outgrowth - are you experiencing any hallucinations?”
 

[Gl!tch~]

Well, at least the negative effects had stopped. But it left the area worse for wear. And, importantly, their target was not staying around. She grit her teeth behind her lips.

Lorata's voice caught her attention, and Hemera nodded at the lieutenant. "And it sounds like this area might collapse if we stay much longer. I am contacting Glamis now."

She held the communicator up and opened up contact. "Something was banging on the floor, then someone screamed. That might have been our ghost. After that, there was the lightning and the block started shaking. It has since stopped, but the block seems to be creaking. As far as I know, there are currently no hallucinations." And hopefully there would not be any further. Or any that she herself might have. She didn't want to think about it too much. "Should we follow the energy?"  

[Sypon]

"You have good instincts." The voice said. "It's heading... East..." There was a long pause, as though Glamis had gotten another call. When Glamis' voice returned, it sounded harried and under duress.

"There's been an attack in the East Outgrowth - Officer is reported to be attacking friendlies alongside the subject; all combat-capable units make your way to the East Outgrowth. If it's safe to do so, disengage."

The communicator clicked off.

East? Hemera had a sinking feeling but she couldn't remember why at the moment, not with so much going on. And there wasn't the time to check her notebook. But, she nodded at Lorata's words, looked over the children present, then followed after. She had work to do.
