╔═══════════════════ [ - Enter City Hall - ]
It was just as he’d thought – all the weapons, shields, armor, gear and accessories that the city’s artisans had been tirelessly working on were all gathered here at City Hall. Each room he’d managed to slip into told him the same thing; something wasn’t right. Cursing under his breath, his gaze narrowed upon the swords that were stacked so neatly against the wall. During the attack, one of the more prominent black smith’s workshop and home had been destroyed. While he sympathized with the shifter, he was secretly glad – Leon’s weapons were the best in Eoana, if he couldn’t make them then they couldn’t be used for what he suspected was a coming battle.
Moving as silently and stealthily as a shadow, he slipped through City Hall, from room to room, down hallways and hidden passages that even the Lord Marshall himself was likely unaware of. Mask securely in place, ears keen and senses alert, he took his time. While hunting down the extremists was one of his top priorities, protecting Eoana was his first priority and one that required him to place himself in very precarious situations…

Eoana City Guard || Aldaine De'Fraye [Where:] City Hall [With:] Varys [Feeling:] Stoic, focused [Outfit:] Cloaked light armour [OOC:]
╔═══════════════════
Aldaine narrowed his gaze as he watched Varys movements. Varys had approached the bag and bore witness to the severed heads that lay within. The jaguar listened intently to the questions that were asked, as Varys started lobbing the heads out of the window and throwing lances to pierce, or in this case, shatter the heads completely, made evident by the flying pieces of bloodied flesh and bone the sprawled across the yard outside. Aldaine remained composed and unfazed. He had seen similar behaviours such as this…many times in fact. While he was a Captain himself, he’d have witness soldiers from all ranks unleash their vengeance-induced ire on the corpses of dead enemies. Aldaine did not decapitate the corpses out of anger, rather, it was to have some modicum of proof to offer Varys that the deed itself was in fact done.
As Varys continued to destroy the heads, Aldaine answered the Lord Marshal’s questions, “In the forest. These three in particular had a small encampment set up. From there, they were attack passing caravans, no doubt rich with supplies intended for the city. Second Lieutenant Marshal was my commanding officer during the confrontation.” In response to Vary’s inquiry as to whether Aldaine had been the one to severe the heads from the extremists’ corpses, the shifter replied “It was. I thought it best to offer some form of proof that the deed was done. Words do not bare the same weight as actions”.
Aldaine listened further as Varys inquired about the rest. “No others were sighted ,Sir, not even when I conducted a search of the perimeter of these three’s encampment. There was no sign or sight that others had been nearby.” Aldaine made no mention of their mysterious ally. It couldn’t be ignored that the jaguar didn’t trust Varys. Therefore, he thought it best not to insinuate others were there unless absolutely necessary. Aldaine was hesitant to continue further but he has to wonder…did Varys know of Arthur’s disappearance? The fact that Aldaine’s father was not at Guard HQ still irked him, perhaps the Lord Marshal had answers? There was no guarantee, furthermore, with Varys’ current state, if he were to find out Aldaine was Arthur’s son, chances are the Lord Marshal was likely to react violently…and that wouldn’t help anyone. Regardless, Aldaine still kept his wits about him, keepings his eyes and ears focused on the surrounding environment for any suspicious noises or activity. Some may have argued he was being paranoid, but, healthy doses of paranoia and caution had saved Aldaine more than once in his lifetime.
He remained silent as he awaited Varys’ response…

Eoana City Guard || Aldaine De'Fraye [Where:] City Hall [With:] Varys [Feeling:] Stoic, focused [Outfit:] Cloaked light armour [OOC:]
╔═══════════════════
Aldaine hand taken in Varys words and even more so his actions. He witnessed as Varys controlled the lance he had thrown out the window, aloft in the air as he dispatched of the extremist’s heads. After the Lord Marshal had issued his orders and dismissed Aldaine, the jaguar merely bowed his head and silently made his exit. However, he was stopped as Varys called out to him…by his name. Aldaine couldn’t help but feel some small twinge of anxiety. Then again, hiding his name from the Lord Marshal was more than likely a fruitless effort from the get go anyway, as he did command the city guard after all. Still, if there was a chance for Aldaine to go unnoticed by Varys, he’d have preferred it. Regardless, Aldaine listened as Varys spoke further. “You’ve honoured him…more than you’d likely know…do not let his sacrifice be in vein.”
Aldaine remained there for a brief moment as the Lord Marshal’s words had sunk in. Aldaine slightly turned his head in Varys’ direction in acknowledgement of his words before responding, his own tone cold. and in a sense, merciless, “They will die. All of them.” With that, Aldaine exited the office.
Aldaine stood outside the office after he had closed the door shut. Standing there he closed his eyes for a moment. “So…he knew all along…” Aldaine’s eyes reopened as he stood up straight, making his way out of the city hall. “Well…what to do now? I suppose I should go check on Cyrus. Then…maybe I’ll get a drink…or get some sleep…ugh…gods I’m exhausted…” The past few weeks had seen no shortage of stress for the shifter, until recently, he was beginning to wonder if he’d ever find the extremists. But…with this recent victory, there was some fire reignited in him. However, he couldn’t get too comfortable. There was still much to do, one battle did not win the war. However, some part of him felt he could sleep easy tonight…knowing that he and Cyrus managed to get out of there alive. The mysterious figure was still on Aldaine’s mind, but, due to his assistance Aldaine was fine with letting him run around.
Aldaine made his way back to the barracks.

╔═══════════════════ Once he’d finished inspecting the hidden goods located throughout the City Hall, both in the central rooms and the ones hidden below the building, he made his way out of the building. Slipping through a side window that was left unguarded – tisk tisk – he headed for the main yard. There was one person whom he knew was in house – The Lord Marshall. Ever since the Extremist Attack, the Lord Marshall had been a busy little bee…but there were reports of him also not acting like himself. Unfortunately, the Lord Marshall’s Office was the one place he wouldn’t be able to get to easily.
However…
Stepping out into the main yard, he skirted the building, keeping to the shadows as he went along. There was some sort of debris in the snow, the smell of which was not pleasant by any means. Looking up at the windows the Marshall’s Office, his gaze narrowed at what he saw. The glass was broken, the curtains were ripped and blowing freely in the late winter breeze. It was getting dark out and soon the temperatures would drop but it seemed that the Lord Marshall didn’t mind the chill. How very interesting…
Silhouetted in the light of his office, the man himself stood at one of those broken windows, looking out over the area, like a Captain at the bow of his ship. It seemed that he hadn’t been spotted, which was both fortunate and unfortunate. Clenching his jaw, he balled his fists as his gaze narrowed on the man. He had a decision to make; stay in the shadows or make himself known. There would come a time when he would face the Lord Marshall directly and make his sins known, but now was not that time. However, there was no harm in giving the Marshall a little scare in the meantime…something for him to ponder over while he stood and gazed out of his shattered office.
Taking a step out of the shadows, he boldly walked into the center of the yard. Clad all in black, his face covered and shrouded in shadow, he looked as mysterious as he was. Coming to a stop in the center of the area, he waited for a moment, just to make sure the Lord Marshall really saw him, before he raised his gloved hand to his chest and placed his index and pointer finger against his heart, tapping it three times. Once he was sure the message had been received, he turned and charged out of the yard as fast as his feet could carry him.

╔═══════════════════ After leaving the abandoned building via the intricate back alleyways of the city, Reynard transformed himself into a shaggy dog – no one cared about street mutts wandering about as long as they didn’t try to enter a house or business or get into someones goods – so no one looked at him twice. Making his way toward the City Hall building, he took his time, keeping to the shadows and what not. If his life as a fugitive had taught him anything it was that extra caution never hurt and it could save your life…
[ - Enter City Hall - ]
Eventually, Reynard slipped into the City Hall grounds through an area that really needed better watching – the guards there were lazier and tended to take afternoon naps when the opportunity arose, tsk, tsk. Shifting back into his human form, Reynard kept to the discreet corners of the buildings, climbing up the piping and gripping the jagged bricks, climbing up the side with ease. Coming to the Lord Marshal’s window, he grinned when he heard the voice of his beloved.
‘Right on time…’ His mate was always so punctual. Peeking into the window, he smirked seeing Varys’s back turned toward him. Climbing into through the still broken window, he winked at Diane and took Varys’s seat without making a sound.
“She’s fabulous, now that I’m here.” He said, giving Diane a little pinky wave and a loving look, his eyes very expressive even though his face from the nose down was covered. Turning to look at Varys, he smiled behind his mask. “I’ve had a visit…from Gerot.” Rey stated evening, getting right down to business.
“Well, technically Aldaine had a visit from Gerot, but it was in my hideout, so it counts. Regardless, the old b*****d wants to deal, sort of. He wants his Master…He suspects that a certain Valorian Court Mage is going to use him as leverage to reignite the war.” There was no use beating around the bush – they all knew that Rhysian was a monster trying to start some kind of nonsense in Eoana, now they had reason to believe that he was up to something even worse – another world war.

╔═══════════════════ “God Dammit.” Rey muttered, hating this whole damn situation with a passion. He hated, hated admitting that Gerot was onto something and that he was probably right. That old b*****d had killed innocent citizens and his Master had orchestrated the whole attack. They both had the blood of hundreds of innocent people on their hands and now they had to not only save their lives but spare them their punishment to prevent even more lives from being lost. It was a shitty situation and he hated it.
Scowling, Rey growled low. “The enemy of my enemy and all that nonsense, huh? Fine. If it means preventing an even larger tragedy, at least for a short time, then so be it, but where do we find the b*****d?” If Arthur had been taken and hidden away somewhere, even from Varys, then it wouldn’t be easy to find and free the Trendelonian Lord without alerting Rhysian to what they were up to.
Reynard knew damn well that if Rhysian wanted to start a war, he didn’t need Arthur to accomplish that goal. No, the Court Mage had started this whole plot the moment he’d arrived. Arthur was just a convenience. However, if thwarting Rhysian’s plot for a short time bought them the upper hand, then it was worth the risk.
“In any case…Aldaine is the only one who knows how to contact Gerot. And luckily for all of us, I have a way to contact Aldaine…” Rey said producing the whistle. Placing it to his lips he blew it hard, a tone sounding that only those with the acute hearing of a shifter would be able to pick up. With any luck, Aldaine would hear the noise and come running…Time was of the essence at this point.
