“Uwaaah! Comfy!” Haruto bounced on his bed, on his back and laughing. Jun simply and quietly looked around at their dorm before walking to the window and looking outside. So many people...he wasn’t sure what he should do. He was lost in his own thoughts until two hands suddenly came up to both sides of his head to guide it towards Haruto who was no longer on his bed but instead standing beside him. When he knew the other was paying attention, he took his hands off and began to speak, his hands signing at the same time.
“Listen, Jun, no one here knows you’re deaf yet and there are some classes we don’t have together. Because of that, you need to make sure to read their lips instead of zoning out.” Jun furrowed his brows, Haruto frowns slightly before continuing, hands moving again “They might not allow phones all the time so, since it’s probably best you don’t speak, carry a notebook.” Jun looked away, Haruto gives a light smack to his shoulder to make him look over again, his hands begin moving again as he speaks, offering the other a reassuring smile “Sorry if it seems like I’m nagging, I’m just worried. You’ll do fine.”
Haruto had known Jun since they were kids. He appreciated Haruto’s support but...would things really be fine? In their hometown, people found him rude for not being able to respond to people who spoke too fast or people not facing him. Others found him just too much of a hassle to try and speak to. Would things really be okay?
Another smack to the shoulder brings Jun out of his negative thoughts. Haruto speaks while once again signing the words “You’ll.Do.Fine.”
