Physical Description: Jaspen's a bit on the short side but she has a lean, toned body from all the dancing she does. Her hair is a sleek, gleaming black, usually braided, and her light grey eyes have a slight slant to them.
Personality: With all the poise and grace one would expect of a dancer--especially of the Courtesan craft--Jaspen tends to stand out in a crowd. She's quite comfortable with the attention, too; she's generally an outgoing person and enjoys talking to other people. She is polite and friendly--most of the time, at least--but she can be a bit spoiled. She is used to a life of privilege, and when she wants something, she expects to get it. Her mood can be unpredictable; she get upset easily and sometimes to a disproportionate degree. Though too well-behaved to throw any tantrums, she is not above sulking alone somewhere. Fortunately, these bad moods also don't last very long. Overall, while she can be somewhat naive, she's optimistic and wants to think the best of people, but as a result, she is perhaps a little too trusting.

History: Jaspen and her twin sister Segwen were born into a well-off family in Fort Hold, with two older brothers and a younger sister. Jaspen was always pretty outgoing and made friends easily, except for Segwen, really. Despite being twins, they never really got along, as their personalities tended to clash too much.
For as long as she can remember, Jaspen has always loved to dance, and there really was no question of what she would do when she got older. The only real choice was whether she'd study the Harper's style of dance or the Courtesan's, and eventually Jaspen decided the glamor of the Courtesan Craft drew her more than the Harper.
Once she became an apprentice and moved to the Crafthall, that was the last she saw of her family in person, though they exchanged letters. She was close to becoming a journeyman when a dragonrider found her at a Gather and convinced her to become a candidate for a dragon's clutch. As much as Jaspen loved dancing, she couldn't ignore the tantalizing possibility of riding a (gold) dragon of her own (though a green would be fine. She supposes.)
It wasn't until she arrived at High Reaches Weyr that she saw her family again, or one of them--Segwen, to be exact. It seemed like her twin had been Searched at the same time as she was, and had somehow ended up in the same Weyr. Not that Jaspen had any more of an idea of how to talk to Segwen than she had when they were children.
