It's a rather sparsely furnished apartment with the bare minumum in terms of what's needed. It was a single L shaped couch, a wall mounted TV, a coffee table that's cluttered with alcohol bottles and empty coffee mugs. A startling thing that sits on the coffee table is a loaded pistol that sits on the edge of the table, right in front of the couch. The bedroom is actually the cleanest part of the house with the bed seemingly never been used as it's always perfectly made.

Marcel would get himself situated in Virgil's truck, making sure to grab Virgil's hand right away the moment he could. He held tight as they drove down the road towards where he lived. Marcel looked over and eyed the bottle between Virgil's legs, if his hand wasn't occupied at the moment he would have tried reaching over to get a drink again. None the less it wasn't long before they pulled up to a small apartment building where Marcel let go of his hand and nodded his head towards the other man "Cmon" he invited the other in as he got out of the truck and began to walk towards the building and in through the front doors. Luckily Marcel got an apartment on the first floor and after a minute of walking down the empty hall they arrived to a door in the farthest corner possible. The Hispanic somehow managed to fumble with only his two keys and at one point tried sticking the key ring against the lock but he did end up opening it in the end. The entire apartment was sparse and somewhat empty save for the essentials with the living room area being the only signs that someone actually lived there "Homswee home" he slurred once more, laughing a bit before looking over at Virgil "Yu...stay!" Marcel tried to be as clear as possible before grabbing his hand again and giving him the blatantly unneeded tour of the smallish apartment "Livin room" that's one "Bafroom" that's two "Lau...laun...clothsroom" that one was apparently tricky for the drunk "Kichen..." that's four "Bedroom!" and that was the tour of his apartment, courtesy of a drunk Marcel. None the less he stopped in his bedroom and turned on another light before right in front of Virgil Marcel began to clumsily to remove his jeans, leaving him clad in only a pair of briefs and his tank top "Comfyyy!" he cheered drunkenly before turning to Virgil and jabbing a thumb at his bed "Yuu bed...I dun useit...." he clarified before walking into the living room and reclining on the L shaped couch, turning on the TV to what seemed to be some slasher.

The truck would be parked in the closest available spot to the door for his not-a-date's sake. Moving from his spot wasn't something he'd planned on, so a puzzled look was thrown his way when he was invited inside. Considering how Marcel was about the whole hand holding thing, he didn't want to find out what would happen if he didn't follow so he got out, bringing the bottle with him for moral support. Virgil would have more confidence walking through the gates of hell than into someone else's home unless he was completely and wholly ******** up.

Living so close to strangers was something he would never understand how people with apartments did, but at least the one he was being brought to was at the end of the hallway. Several sips of the whiskey were taken while he watched Marcel struggle unlock his own door, chuckling softly to himself. Just when he was about to offer to help him, he finally managed to get it open. It would be shut again after he walked in. Again, an eye would slip closed as he looked around the main area of the apartment, finding it difficult to be as observant as he normally was with alcohol and drowsiness clouding his vision. Confused panic unnecessarily griped him for a few seconds when he was told to stay. The meaning of the word went right over his head. "I ain't ah...ah dog." He pouted. But, apparently he could sink to the level of his canine cousins though since he remained rooted in his spot at first when his hand was grabbed again. No one could say that he hadn't tried to be a good boy. Marcel's place nearly seemed like a mansion in his current state. Which room was what which was committed to memory to the best of his drunken ability while he hoped he wouldn't get them confused later on. Getting up later to use the bathroom and peeing in the clothesroom would be bad, after all. "Nice." The giant nodded with his compliment of the apartment and have a thumbs up as they stopped at the bedroom, the pause in moving giving enough time to lean against the wall and shut his eyes. The cheer had them opening again, however, leaving him to stare a little too long at the sight of Marcel without his pants on.

Finally, the meaning of "you stay" became clear to him when he saw him gesturing toward his bed. Surprisingly, the urge to bolt for the door and freedom didn't come to him, probably due to the alcohol in his system and the need for sleep. Certainly couldn't be because he felt safe around Marcel or could it? Maybe sleeping in an actual bed for once wouldn't be so terrible, either. His gaze lingered on his backside as he watched him walk away. Virgil lingered for a minute before he walked to the livingroom and set the bottle on the coffee table. "G'night, Marcel. An'...erm...thanks." A quick glance was thrown toward the violent movie on the television as he turned to walked away. How anyone watched any sort of t.v. was beyond him, he didn't have the attention span for it. "An' don't let th' hillbillies git ya!" The big male called out while he made his way back to the bedroom.

Marcel was now in his comfort zone on the couch when he heard Virgil come by and thank him for letting him stay. In response the drunk looked over his shoulder for a moment and made a sputtering noise while waving his hand dismissively "Nuu prob and Gnight!" he called out but not before snorting with laughter at Virgil's final comment about Hillbillies. After that Marcel sat there in a drunken haze, not really even watching the apparent slasher marathon that was going on. This was common for him as insomnia was a b***h for him, even when he was stone cold smashed and should be passing out. Instead however he sat there on the couch almost glassy eyed with no real concept of what was going on around him. Minutes would turn into a good couple hours of just sitting there silently not really doing much of anything. Normally he'd be crying his eyes out, mulling over the past, or something. But for some reason of clearly unknown origin he simply sat there silently, staring forward at the glowing screen in front of him for a silly amount of time. Eventually his body began to wear itself down and in the blink of an eye Marcel fell to the side, passed out asleep. With how drunk he was it thankfully afforded him at least a couple hours of sleep due to the haze that was in his mind. But come the wee hours of the morning where the sun was just barely cracked over the horizon most of the alcohol had worked it's way out of his system and as such, the nightmares would begin.

They always began small, monsters from his childhood creeping up on him as he lay there. But it would always become progressively worse and worse the longer he slept. Next he'd see his wife and her lover in bed together and she'd give him a disdainful look before mocking him. His family would gather and begin to belittle and berate him for every single fault he saw in himself no matter how small. Then he'd blink and he'd relive several battles from his time in the military and the deeper he got into his nightmares, the more he squirmed in the waking world. He'd remember the time he had to shoot down and kill what was essentially a child, brainwashed into fighting for a cause he didn't understand "No...no please...I didn't..." he'd murmur and he shifted around on the couch. It would always get progressively worse with each new scenario until it finally reached the worst day in Marcel's life that would go on repeat until the moment he woke up. His first day on the battle field, witnessing his best friend's head get blown off by a sniper that was a mile away "J...Jordan! No!...Move...get down!" he'd begin to cry out in his sleep, his legs and arms flailing in a running motion as if to stop the death from happening "No..! No Stop! PLEASE GOD NO!! NOOOO!" he'd begin screaming as the flailing became even worse, the nightmare completely gripping him as tears rolled down his cheeks at the dream. That was it, reliving having his best friends brain matter and skull fragment splattered onto his face. He'd blink and the scenario would start all over again without end.

The bedroom door would be closed behind him once he made it back to the bedroom, standing there as he got a better look at the room that looked as if it was rarely touched. Still felt weird being in the space though going to curl up on the couch with Marcel or leaving would just be awkward now so he’d remain. Except for his boxers briefs, every scrap of clothing would be take off and left on the floor before he crawled onto the bed after turning the light off. Virgil grabbed a pillow and curled up on a side, laying there with his eyes closed until he drifted off into a restless sleep. The blissful darkness of slumber didn’t last, sadly, as dreams and memories blended together. Normally he drank himself into a coma to prevent this nightmare world, but with the need to keep an eye on the trashed Hispanic, he had stopped boozing a lot sooner than he normally did.

Muscle rippled beneath a thick black pelt as the wolf made his way through the forest. It was beautiful as long as he ignored the stark contrast of dark blood against the pristine white of fallen snow and the still bodies it had leaked from littering the ground. Everything would be fine as long as he kept moving forward. This scene was far better than the alternative that had been plaguing his dreams and waking mind the past several months.

”They say a devil with a conscience is a tragic thing. I think it’s pathetic, personally. We are what we are and shouldn’t apologize for it.”

All too familiar and real, a mocking voice cut through the silence. Against his better judgement, he paused in his stride and looked in the direction the voice had come from. Virgil didn’t know if he was being haunted by an actual spirit or if this was just a manifestation of all his self-loathing and anger. If it was the latter, he wished his brain would’ve chosen something else. He used to think Mathew looked so damn handsome in that stupid navy blue military uniform, but death had robbed him of his good looks. His uniform was torn and dirty now though he couldn’t bring himself to feel any sorrow for his former lover.

”You don’t even deserve his friendship.” Despite the ripped throat, the memory seemed to have any trouble voicing his opinions. ”At least he seems to stand a chance, is better than you. Look around, Virgil…This is what you are.” He kept his gaze locked on the other, still refusing to acknowledge the corpses scattered around the area because he knew there would be more than just soldiers among the dead. It was of more familiar faces that he was afraid of seeing in this graveyard his subconscious had conjured. ”I’ve never met a man more in love with killing than you. Why else do you think I shared my legacy with you? Not everyone can receive the Gift, you should consider yourself lucky.” Sharp teeth that didn’t belong in the mouth of a human were seen as Mathew grinned at him.

’Enough! I never wanted this!’ It was a thought, being unable to speak with this wolven body, but it seemed the dead man could still understand him if his laughter was any clue. With a snarl, Virgil threw himself at him, his teeth easily finding the old wound he’d inflicted long ago as they fell to the ground. Mathew had been a wolf when he’d killed him back in the day, but he didn’t think about the difference now. It wasn’t until the manic laughter melted away into screams that he stopped tearing away at the body and jumped back, staring in horror at the frame that had replaced Mathew’s during his assault. The brute didn’t know if he could take the betrayal and accusatory look in those brown depths as the stranger died, but he couldn’t bring himself to look away. ’Wait…’

The continued screaming and begging for something to stop caused Virgil to jerk awake with a ragged gasp. He bolted upright and looked around, his sleep blurred vision taking a few minutes to adjust. Unfamiliar walls and pale early sunlight coming through a window greeted him instead of damp stone walls and metal bars he’d been expecting. Not that he gave himself time to feel relief for his freedom, those noises that'd caused him to wake up pulling him to act. He almost fell flat on his face in his haste to get out of the bed, having gotten tangled up in the blankets during his own tossing and turning. He managed though to make it out of the bedroom unscathed and followed the cries to their source. ”Marcel!” His name came out with a loud snarl when he found the man thrashing on the couch. He didn’t wait to see if his voice would be enough to wake him, moving closer to make to grab his arms and make those frantic movements stop despite knowing it wasn’t exactly a wise idea to touch someone when they were in the grips of such a terrible nightmare.

Marcel was an emotional mess by the time the nightmare repeated itself for the third time. This was just how it worked, no matter what he did in the dream Jordan would be killed, He could run to Jordan at top speed but he'd always be just there when the blonde was killed, his golden hair staining red as he collapsed. He'd pull out his gun and try to fire at the sniper that just didn't seem to die, no matter how many bullets he shot at him. Sometimes if Marcel didn't blink right away he'd hear Jordan's corpse begin to whisper things Why did you fail me, we were like brothers...you let me die.... "No! Jordan please I didn't...I...it should have been me!" he'd blink and boom, all over again as if the replay button was broken. You'd think that experiencing the same thing over and over would have desensitized him to it but no, it was his greatest failure and the worst moment of his life. Just as Marcel fell to his knees in the dream screaming for it to stop suddenly he felt a pair of arms grab him from thin air. He woke up screaming as his arms jerked violently to try and attack the blur before his eyes. Had the other not been physically stronger Marcel would have socked the in the face, probably badly injuring them. Finally as his vision began to clear his screaming died down as he now laid there with wide, terrified eyes as he stared up at the the concerned look of Virgil "...Wha...? Q...Querido? Virgil?" he reaffirmed as he blinked several times to correct himself. Marcel didn't even realize he was hyperventilating until he was finally able to calm himself down and get grounded back to reality. Nobody had ever woken him from his Nightmares before and he didn't really know how to react at this current moment. The Hispanic man didn't have time to ponder this however as his throat was now dry and he had a splitting headach, most certainly the signs of a bad hangover. He grabbed his head for a moment as he finally collected himself, he must have invited the other to stay the night in his drunken haze. Not that he had a problem with it.

Marcel sat back up, the TV had at some point in his thrashing been turned off thanks to the remote. He then stared at Virgil for a moment when he realized that someone had seen him with his terrors for the first time ever. He quickly looked away in shame at the blatant weakness he showed "Sorry if I woke you...." was all he muttered before getting up from the couch. Marcel walked to the kitchen and started brewing a fresh pot of coffee in silence, unsure of what to say. There was no doubt questions that the other had on his mind and Marcel wasn't even sure he could answer them. Part of him, his heart, was begging Marcel to open up just a little bit and let someone in while the logical part of him brain screamed at him to not burden others with his baggage. For a moment Marcel's gaze lifted and his mouth opened as if to speak but the moment his gaze met Virgil's he faltered and lost all courage as his gaze fell back to the ground. He was always at his emotionally weakest after a nightmare, his mask was gone. There was no hiding his true feelings now. He was a tired and emotionally scarred soldier. The snarky, quick witted Marcel was nowhere to be seen as he grabbed two mugs from the cuppord and filled both to the brim "I ran out of cream but there is sugar in that jar over there if you want...." he spoke in a surprisingly soft voice as he reached over and popped a bottle of aspirin that he had on the counter for just such hangovers, leaving it open if Virgil wanted some.

Marcel found that he had more courage when he just didn't look at Virgil at this moment "You can leave if you want, I'd understand..." it wasn't a request for him to leave, quite the opposite really. Marcel wanted nothing more than for Virgil to stay but after the show he had just put on and his first hand view of what lie underneath the mask that Marcel worked so hard to maintain, he was just giving the other the option just so he didn't think of himself as rude for just straight up leaving.

Even with the size difference, it soon became clear to him that Marcel was strong enough in his own right. It wasn’t so easy to keep the smaller body from flailing, his muscles straining while he tried to force him to be still. His grasp around his wrists only tightened when he snapped out of the nightmare and tried to attack, which had Virgil tilting his head back and growling while he forced his hands back against his chest to avoid being struck. Streaked through with flecks of pale gold, his green eyes stared back down at the other as he watched realization slowly start to dawn within the terrified depths of his gaze. Hearing both the unknown nickname and his real name made him relaxing the slightest bit though wasn’t until his breathing started to calm down that he let go of his wrists and moved back to give him room. Accidentally bumping into the coffee had him flinching a bit and glancing back over a shoulder to make sure he hadn’t disturbed anything, finally taking notice of the pistol on the table. Thank the gods the Hispanic hadn’t gone for that. He wasn’t a fan of being shot.

Virgil gave a small shake of his head. ”Don’t worry ‘bout it…wasn’t havin’ ah good time of it anyway.” His gaze fell to the floor as he tried to rid himself of the lingering image of Mathew’s leering face from his mind. It only brought back the other face, which was way more disturbing. The similarities between the man in his dream and the real one with him now were too many for his comfort. ’No…wasn’t him…or won’t be…I won't let it.’ There was a nagging voice that argued differently and he was finding it hard to silence it. He might have control, but he could lose himself to those black out rages if he was pushed too far. Good thing he wasn’t superstitious and believed in omens or he would’ve walked out then and there just to protect the former soldier.

Catching Marcel moving away had him watching him again. Unlike yesterday when they had first met and he’d kept an eye on a possible enemy, he was watching him out of concern. It was always a strange thing to see the mask fall away and get a peak behind the veil, but it didn’t scare him like It might some people. As wrong as it was to judge a book by its cover, Virgil had done exactly that the moment he’d spotted those dog tags hanging around the other man’s neck. Assumed the worst was a better way of putting it, at least, due to his own experiences. True judgment had never entered the picture. Perhaps that was why he hadn’t chased the man off as if he’d sensed a kindred soul in this world he didn’t fit into. They’d both been through their own hells and had come out scarred and damaged. The brute just happened to be adept in the art of stoicism where his expressions and voice was concerned, but his gaze gave him away even now. They were the eyes of a suffering animal that just wanted to be put out of its misery.

He stepped closer at the promise of coffee. ”Nah…This’ll be good. Thanks.” ********. He didn’t know what to say to him. Not that talking had ever been his strong suit. A dozen questions demanded to be voiced all at once. Bringing himself to actually ask them wasn’t something he knew how to do. The cup of coffee for him would be picked up and raised to his lips to blow on it before taking a sip. With the cobwebs of sleep starting to clear away, he remembered his lack of clothing. Virgil might have the looks and the muscle definition to make even the most devoted of nuns swoon, but it was all the scars that him growing self-conscious of his body. The long slashes and the entry and exits marks on various places of his body had still yet to fade after all these months. They served as a reminder he didn’t need and wished he didn’t have. He shifted his weight awkwardly as he took another drink, stuck between wanting to retreat to the bedroom and finishing the much-needed coffee first.

His troubled gaze shifted back to him when he broke the quiet, giving him an excuse to cut ties and ditch his mess. Luckily, he was smart and awake enough to detect that he wasn’t kicking him out just then. It would be a lie to say that he didn’t want to leave, however, and it had nothing to do with Marcel. The desire to be outside and free was a strong one as his waking flashback had made the apartment feel too much like a cage. But freedom and the need for clothes were suddenly unimportant. Seeing how broken and lost the younger man was and continuing to do nothing drove any selfish thought from him. ”I’m ‘ere, dahlin’…” Obviously. He meant it more than that, promising to be there, help him fight his nightmares and shoulder his burdens with those three simple words. The bounty hunter set his mug back down before he set into motion again, moving to wrap his arms around his waist from behind in a hug if it was allowed.

Marcel's gaze was locked to the floor as he waited to here the footsteps retreat to the bedroom to collect his things. He'd only chanced a few glances at the other man and he saw those cuts and gashes that covered the others body. Marcel had seen many scars in his day but this was ridiculous, he knew the other man was a bounty hunter but no human should have that many scars. The Hispanic obviously had his own scars, mostly bullet wounds and old burn scars on his shoulders, chest, and legs but nothing to the extent that the other had. Marcel wanted to ask about them, he did but the Hispanic knew that he'd leave. What normal person wouldn't? However he froze in place when the other embraced him from behind, saying that he was here. Such intimate contact caught him off guard, when was such contact a thing with them? Was it something he did when he was drunk? But not only that but his words shook him to the core and Marcel's head fell forward as he bit his lip, reaching a hand up to put over the one's Virgil has wrapped around him "Please...Don't say things you don't mean..." he said in as steady of a voice as he could muster as he instinctively leaned back into the other man's broad chest. Such tender contact was something he had been deprived of for so many years and suddenly here was a man who was seemingly willing to stick with him? Despite what some people would say, Marcel knew it wasn't a dream. He didn't have good dreams. Instead he thought it might be a hallucination from years of mental and emotional torment and so he gripped the arm a bit, just to make sure that hew as in fact real and not something he just made up to comfort himself.

It surprised him somewhat when he wasn't shoved away for the contact. He wouldn't have blamed him if he had. After all, that was the card he so often played when he was in any sort of emotional or physical pain. He distance himself and pushed people away until he was able to bottle it up along with the rest of his disgraceful soul. Virgil seriously doubted that this true and sober version of the Hispanic wouldn't remember the insistent hand holding, was probably questioning this show of affection, but he didn't care. Painfully sober himself and still trying to find his way out of the darkest parts of his mind, it was all he knew to do. Comfort with his body when he couldn't find the words.

Those strong arms kept their grasp around him light as he held onto him, his gaze cast at the floor with half mast lids. Some of the tension drained from him as he felt Marcel lean back against him. The half-breed was quiet for a long minute after he spoke while he debated with himself. It was no use, really, since he had no answers as to why he was giving this stranger his loyalty. It was a personal flaw that bit him in the a** more than once in the past, but here he was willing to make the same damn mistakes all over again. A deep sigh left him as he rested his chin down on his shoulder for a brief moment. "I'm not in th' habit of sayin' things I don't mean..." They just weren't pretty words leaving his mouth, they were the truth. Even those times Virgil had ended up regretting something he'd said, he stuck by them. Doing otherwise would be backing down, and he was far too stubborn for that. The arm flexed when it was griped as if to prove that it was made of flesh and muscles and not some illusion. "I know...I hardly know ya an' I can't imagine what kinda 'ell you've had t'suffer through, but...I..." He cleared his throat some. "Still don't think you're ah bad person..." Reaffirming more or less he had told him last night, making sure that this real Marcel knew it as well. His palms were lightly pressed against the other man's stomach as he held him a bit tighter, enjoying the body heat for a few minutes before he pulled away. Unwilling to leave him even for a minute, he grabbed his coffee again and simply lingered, his expression one of deep contemplation.

Marcel kept a nice grip on Virgil's arm as he contemplated what the man said and how he insisted that meant what he said. Here they were, barely knowing each other and yet Marcel was still letting himself believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. It had been so long since he had someone to who was so willing to even listen to him, let alone be there when he needed it. Marcel would also secretly admit he liked how close Virgil was holding him, it made the Hispanic feel...feel...comfortable? Safe?...Wanted? It was so hard for him to tell, even harder for him to admit it to himself. But yet here he was, enjoying every moment of the others embrace as Virgil spoke once again. And boy was Marcel caught off guard once again as he listened to the other but what truly got him was when Virgil said that he wasn't a bad person. Marcel was silent as he blinked at the very thought that he wasn't as bad as he believed 'You!? Not a bad person? Hah!What a joke, you're just aa patheticman who couldn't even keep his wife....' the voice was trying to go against Virgil's but the feeling of the others arms plus the words of confidence drowned out the negative voice. Marcel had to hold himself back from throwing himself back into the others embrace as he turned around to look at Virgil more closely and stared at each scar, not with judgement but contemplation of his own "You aren't wrong, I've seen some hell but..." he paused and stepped forward a bit as the Hispanic man slowly reached out to run a hand over one of the smoothed scars "If these tell anything, I'd say you've seen more than me...." he stated eyeing the body that was covered in scars before grabbing his own coffee and taking a drink and setting it down and taking a deep breath and giving the other man his first real smile, not the drunken one's he'd given the other "Thanks Querido, you might not know how much that means to me..." he knew that it was foolish to believe the other since they just met, he was setting himself up for more pain but at this point what did he really have left to lose?

Finally he gave the other a more familiar grin, Marcel was back in gear and no longer was feeling sorry for himself "How does some breakfast sound? I'm no chef but I know how to make a mean omelet!" he stated before bending over to open one of the cabinets and retrieve a skillet all the way in the back. Marcel didn't cook too often and while he had a lot of things to cook with he didn't use them often and as such they got lost and shoved to the back "Come on you b***h..." it took a bit to unwedge it from it's spot but it eventually gave in and released itself and he grinned, satisfied with it as he wiped some of the dust off it. He'd reach down and loosen his briefs a bit as they began to ride up a bit before then getting everything he needed for the omelets and turned his head to look at Virgil "What do you want? I have bacon, spinach, cheese, and a few other things" Marcel explained as he heated and greased the pan after pulling out all the food items he had and needed "There are some buns in the top cupboard if you want some buttered bread with your omelet" he offered as he cracked a few eggs into the pan.

He could see the hint of disbelief behind that blink. Virgil liked to think that he was a decent judge of a person and when he compared him to others he had met in the past, he didn’t think the young man was rotten to his core like those others had been. It’d just be his ill luck that it turned out to be the opposite. Witnessing him openly eye all those scars he possessed made him want to hunker down and try to hide even though he couldn’t see any judgment or repulsion in the darker eyes studying him. All he could do was hope that no one would exactly realize that one or two of them were from injuries that should have mortally wounded him. He had placed the counter at his back out of the need to have some sort of barrier behind him so when Marcel approached, there was no way for him to easily escape. To his credit he didn’t flinch when he touched one of the scars, too caught up in the fact that he was actually touching and how strange it felt. The sensation was dulled thanks to the scar tissue. ”Cruel men do have ah way of makin’ it seem real, but…nothin’ I didn’t deserve, I guess…” He murmured softly as he met his gaze before he lowered it a bit to look at the Hispanic’s own scars that weren’t covered by his clothing. His lips parted as he started to say something, but that smile soon had him losing his train of thought. A smile that was genuine and he couldn’t help but stare in awe while it lasted. His words had him giving a smile in return though it was fleeting.

His brows lifted at the sight of the grin’s return, wondering if that mask had returned or if he had simply managed to pull himself out of his depression. The thought of sharing some of his horror stories seemed like a bad idea just now, he didn’t want to ruin his mood. He blinked a few times at the offer of breakfast. ”Sounds good t’me, actually.” It had been too long since he eaten a cooked meal that wasn’t served in a restaurant so it was like he’d turn anything the other offered to make. Virgil did his best to avert his gaze when he moved to retrieve the skillet. The last thing he wanted was to be caught eyeing his rear while it was sticking out in such a way, and not to mention the way the material of his underwear was starting to inch up with his movements. His bottom lip was bitten to distract himself from the view when it became apparent not looking at Marcel wasn’t an option. His nose wrinkled at the mention of spinach. Ew. Just ew. Draining the last of his coffee, he went to set the empty mug in the sink as he looked at all the ingredients that had been set out. ”Jus’ cheese an’ bacon, please.” No way in heck anything closely related to vegetables was going past his lips. At the mention of buns, he quickly shot down the similar pick up line that’d popped into his head as he went to grab the bread from the cupboard. They would be set down next to the rest of the stuff as he paused near him, a hand moving to lightly rest on the small of his back as he watched him start to cook. "Gimme ah couple of minutes an' I’ll help ya cook if ya.” Without further word, he left to go put his clothes back on. His shirt and pants, anyway, figuring boots could wait until it was time to leave. "Ooh, aye...I left your license on th' dresser." He'd call out as he came walking back, having forgotten to give it back to him last night.

Marcel hadn't even noticed if Virgil was doing any staring. Marcel didn't really think of himself as attractive so if he ever did anything remotely sexy it was entirely unintentional. Spending years mulling over a divorce due to a cheating wife would kill those thoughts. None the less he frowned when the other said that he deserved it "Some of these scars look awful Querido, life threatening even! A great guy like you probably didn't deserve them" he gave his piece before going back to the raw egg that was cooking low and slow. He'd then glance over and nod his head when the other offered his help with cooking. While Virgil was gone Marcel made his way over to the TV and turned on one of the music channels that played a wide range of genre's, the song that was currently playing was some spunky pop song. Not usually Marcel's preference but he liked all music to some degree. When Virgil returned he blinked when he mentioned putting his license on his dresser"Oh...uh...thanks?" when on earth did Virgil get his license? What the hell did he do last night? Well that didn't matter, as long as the guy didn't keep it. Once Virgil made it back to the kitchen he smirked a bit at the other "Damn and here I was enjoying the view too!" he teased a bit as he began to nod in tune to the music that was playing, shaking his hips just a small bit to the rhythm of the song"Since someone doesn't like their veggies why don't you take a knife from the top drawer and chop up a big heap of spinach for me? Since unlike you I don't mind green stuff" Marcel was now completely back with his old snarky attitude, however this was no mask. Until they left the apartment he was just being himself and he just so happen to be in a good mood for the first time in awhile.

Returning to the main area of the apartment to hear the music was a nice surprise even though he hardly knew what the song or genre was. He chuckled softly as it became kind of obvious he didn’t seem to remember. ”Ya got pretty wasted last night. Guess ya handed it over so I could take ya home.” He shrugged. Questioning the whims of drunken Marcel last night was something he’d given up on since it was always easier to simply go with the flow. His cheeks turned the faintest shade of pink at the teasing. ”Well, it could always come off…” Virgil grinned a bit, but it soon faded as he caught the sway of the shorter man’s hips. Thankfully, he hadn’t started cutting yet or the distraction might’ve caused him to slip and cut something that wasn’t spinach. ”Eat as many turnip greens as I did growin’ up an’ ya wouldn’t want anythin’ leafy either.” The spinach would be taken, rinsed off, and placed on the cutting board before he grabbed a knife from the correct drawer. He removed the stems first before he began to cut up the rest with practiced skill. ”’Member how I said bounty huntin’ was th’ easiest choice last night?” Well, he seriously doubted it all things considered about last night. Virgil lightly shook his head. Everything in him was screaming at him to keep his damn mouth shut, but letting Marcel continue to think he was some “great guy’ without knowing part of the truth didn’t sit so well with him. ”I used t’be ah part of ah gang when I was younger…” That wasn’t exactly the correct word, but it fit for this modern day world. Didn’t carry as much weight as renegade or outlaw did. ”Didn’t last all that long, but…when th’ law finally caught up with me, it was either help ‘em track down other guys I used t’run with or…well, rot in prison for th’ rest of my days...an' th' rest is pretty much history.” He carefully studied the Hispanic as he spoke. He wouldn’t blame him if he wanted him out of his life now that he knew. Sighing softly, he pushed the chopped up spinach closer to him.

Marcel nodded his head at the explanation that was given to him, well that made sense for the most part "At least I had some sense going on" the Hispanic said with a shrug of his shoulders. He then could say that he really loved the blush that grew on Virgil's face, finding it more and more adorable each time he saw it. This time he didn't turn nearly as red as he did yesterday as he returned the grin, leaning towards him a bit with a suggestive look "Treat me" was all he said before going back putting more bacon into the omelet, deciding that there wasn't enough. He then laughed when he explained why he didn't want any greens in his omelet "Fair enough, too much of something can kill it for anyone" he stated with a chuckle. Of course when Virgil got serious the mirth left his face as he got more serious, making sure to listen carefully to the other as he spoke. Marcel paused just as he was putting cheese into the omelet "A gang? I see" he didn't show any judgement for a moment before shrugging his shoulders "Your point?" he stated indifferently "If you were worried that I'd make a big deal about it then don't be" Marcel said with a small smile on his face as he turned to the other man "I don't care about people's past Querido, I only care about who you are now. Not who you were" he'd turn the omelet to cook on the other side before reaching over and putting a hand onto his shoulder "And the guy I see with me is pretty damn amazing and very kind."

Virgil didn't know if he liked how easy the shorter could cause him to blush, the combination of the suggestive look and his statement causing his face to warm a bit more as he swallowed nervously. These unknown feelings Marcel could invoke in him were thrilling at least. And it didn't seem that his confession had ruined their...friendship. That was the word he would use, anyway, denying anything deeper to himself no matter how much he might crave it because the fact that he might be making a friend alone was weird enough. He blinked as he listened to Marcel, somewhat shocked by how well he took the news. The last person he'd dared to share that with had almost instantly ditched him out of fear that his past would bring trouble. The brute didn't know what he was now aside from broken down and tired. So strange, hearing such a compliment. "Only for ya, dahlin'." The usual half smile claimed his features as he shifted closer to him. It was true though, he tended to react to people with how they treated him on first encounters. Had the Hispanic been unfriendly in anyway then he would have been a whole lot less nice to him. Maybe even so much so that the devil might seem pleasant and sweet in comparison. "But thank you..." His smile was a bit bigger this time."Need anythin' else? He spoke a bit more louder than needed, trying to cover up the fact that his stomach had just growled. He'd been doing pretty good so far, but the smell was starting to get to him. "Heh...want me to butter your buns?" After setting down the knife, his fingers curled around the bottom of his shirt to inch it up a bit before he scratched at an itch.
