As you approach the booth, you notice it has been split into three sections. To your left appears to be a mock up courtroom with a tall judge's counter and a shorter desk with various trolls shouting arguments at the blueblooded judge. It seems to be a court debate game and trolls are rewarded with prizes for their attempts.

To the right is a replication of a crime scene and what looks to be a mock up of a small cabin with a small porch in the front and back of it. It is missing a roof and some walls but the intention is clear. This is your work space to look for clues and figure out just what happened to the victim here.

The central area has a counter with young trolls seated behind it explaining the game as well as handing out witness testimony printed on paper for you to read over. One of them asks if you're interested in playing and hands you the initial report of the case and a list of suspects, detailed in the post below.

rollover will be around 12am pacific daylight time!

The case so far...
Check back throughout the week to see the case unfold as you, our prized investigators, discover more! This section will be updated based on what clues you uncover and what you choose to share in your arguments "in court". The true killer is out there somewhere... or maybe they're already in custody. You decide... whodunnit?!

The initial report
Deceased: Cassie Nouvah. Redblood. Co-owner of Steeldeal Weapons.
Cause of death: A single stab wound to the back.
Murder Weapon: A prototype dagger from Steeldeal Weapons.
Defendant: Cassie Blanca. Yellowblood. Co-owner of Steeldeal Weapons. Nouvah's moirail.
Location: The body was found in a private cabin just outside of Civisect. The deceased was taking a short vacation with his kismesis, Ohseen Bumuun. The cabin belongs to a vacation rentals company run by an employee of Steeldeal Weapons, Zeemoy Ppaels. Records show that Nouvah booked the cabin for two and claimed to be going with his matesprit Vesnah Gobsem when talking to the rental company.

Evidence: Steeldeal prototype knife 8KST8
A new dagger in development at Steeldeal Weapons. It has Cassie Blanca's fingerprints on it and Cassie Nouvah's blood on the blade. It was locked up in Blanca's office prior to its appearance at the crime scene and not for sale in stores yet.

Witness Statement: Ohseen Bumuun
"Cassie and I were at the cabin for two hours before someone knocked at the door. I wasn't expecting anyone but I answered it and Vesnah was on our doorstep. Cassie didn't want to be bothered that night, he even ignored a call we got at the cabin, so I slipped outside to talk with her privately. We were outside for five maybe ten minutes? I'm not sure. But we went back in and saw him... dead on the floor. He was- oh gog- stabbed in the back with blood pooling around him."

The suspects
Cassie Blanca - The business partner and co-owner of Steeldeal Weapons. A prototype knife from his office was used as the murder weapon. He was aware of the plan to visit the cabin that night. There was talk that Cassie Nouvah was causing problems with influential highblood client Willam Cobett and Blanca was getting pressured to get rid of him. His personal horse carriage was found at the scene of the crime but he insists Vesnah borrowed it to ride out to the cabin. He claims he was on his way to the cabin to talk with Nouvah and was arrested a short distance away from it. He is the defendant of the case and you may choose to defend or prosecute him.

Ohseen Bumuun - The kismesis who traveled out to the cabin alone with Cassie Nouvah that night. He was the last one to see Nouvah alive that night. He insists he was with Vesnah outside the entire time before discovering the body. He claims he was unaware Nouvah was telling the rental company that Vesnah would be with him instead of Ohseen nor does he know why.

Vesnah Gobsem - The matesprit who arrived to the cabin later that night. She maintains that she was outside with Ohseen and traveled to the cabin on a tip off that Ohseen would be there. She had sensitive information to share about Nouvah with him but is hesitant to share what it was with the police. She is sure that someone else must have been in the cabin to kill Nouvah and remembers seeing Blanca's carriage outside when she arrived to talk with Ohseen.

Willam Cobett - The angry highblood who had several fiery aggression previously with Nouvah. He was not linked to the crime scene but made repeated death threats to Nouvah and rumors have it he was looking for a way to force him out of the business.

The game to win tickets for the final day can be found here. The games below do not apply for day seven of Bloodfest.

Take part in a week long criminal case set up for your entertainment! Here are the games!

Investigation
For this game, you tackle the mystery and adventure of checking out the crime scene and talking with witnesses.

Roll 2d20. Subtract the second number from the first. This determines your investigation score. The biggest positive score will receive a ticket. The biggest negative score will also receive a ticket. Must include at least 50 words of RP to be eligible for tickets. If the post has not been filled with RP by rollover, it will be disqualified.

A positive score indicates a progression in your detective investigation. You will receive a clue in the form of physical evidence. Ping Yamashii or Doutei on discord to receive your clue and we'll try to get it to you as fast as possible. We ask for your patience in case of delays, we're only human!

A negative score indicates a progression in your journalistic investigation. You will receive a written statement from a witness interview. Ping Yamashii or Doutei on discord to receive your statement and we'll try to get it to you as fast as possible. We ask for your patience in case of delays, we're only human!

In the case of a zero, you do not advance your investigation but win a special prize instead. (Not a ticket). Please quote Yamashii or Doutei in the thread if this happens.

Include this form in your posts when you play this game.

Score: Your score after subtracting your second dice from your first.

Take home a pen if you roll and get a journalistic investigation score.
(See prize post below for prize artwork)

Trial
For this game you will square off in court and argue your case for or against the defendant. Notate in your post if you are defending or prosecuting the defendant. By the end of the week, the judge will pass a verdict based on the arguments made. You do not have to stick with prosecuting or defending for the entire week and may change sides based on what you believe to be true.

Pick a number between 1 and 50. The higher the number, the more convincing your argument. If you have rolled your investigation score for the day, you may add the absolute value of that score to your trial score by using evidence or testimony to support your case. Basically, if you rolled a negative score, invert it to a positive number and add it to your trial score.

The highest trial score wins a ticket. In the event that a winner from the investigation game has the highest trial score, the trial ticket will be given to the second highest trial score to avoid giving multiple daily tickets to one user. In the event of a tie, the ticket will be raffled among those applicable. Must include at least 50 words of RP to be eligible for tickets. If the post has not been filled with RP by rollover, it will be disqualified.

Help
If you're stumped on the case, feel free to talk with the booth staff. Each member has their own specialty when it comes to investigations, hence why they are all members of the Investigative Office Union (IOU). If you have an interest in the group, they are open to questions as well.

Philip Inflem and Tzofia Ocelli are the detective and assistant investigators and will be available to bounce ideas off or listen to your theories. Talk to them about the detective process and they might be able to help you learn where to look for clues, the significant of where you found them and what to do with them next.

Avvisi Quillsl is the resident professional journalist (did you catch her Superstar Authority interviews?!) and is happy to take questions about interviewing witnesses.

Kwelin Tourny is the legal expert studying to be a lawyer and can answer questions about the trial portion of the games. He'll let you know if your arguments sound strong or need improvement.

Gwenyn Arrhen dabbles in some forensic science and is your troll if you want some information about getting scientific or biological proof from any evidence you find!

Investigation Type: Journalistic

Oh, a mystery booth! Api quite liked crime mysteries. They figured the best place to start would be with the investigation portion. They were more interested in the journalism portion of the game this time, and settled in to root out some witness statements. Maybe this would be something they were good at?

After getting a hang of one of Vesnah's statements, they just found themself more confused about what was going on with this case. It seemed like a real he-said-she-said sort of ordeal that just got really bloody. What to do, what to do...

Dalema didn't know what to feel as she saw another investigation related game in another booth. Well she kind of knew. These were trolls she knew, and they were all cool cats-- including Phillip and Gwen as hard as it was to admit. Either way, she was going to have fun here and maybe try to be friends with the rest. (Excluding Avvisi, whom she considered the BOMB)

So when she heard the case she strapped her thinking cap on. The murder weapon had been found and surprisingly had the "culprits" fingerprints. But even as the blood and prints pointed at the yellow blood, it was just too easy. It could all be a scheme to distract them from the real culprit. Or so she thought. Dale was also aware they could be playing innocent but until she found something good, she couldn't make any judgments.

Your Honor...
Argument: Defending Cassie Blanca
Score: 50 + 1 = 51

There... frankly wasn't a lot of information to go off of, but what was available seemed to tell too conflicting a story to convince Api that Cassie Blanca was guilty. They weren't really familiar with how real trials went (and didn't really want to know) but they put together a simple statement to present the judge.

"Your Honor... After digging some more into the circumstances around Cassie Nouvah's death, it seems to me that there is too much conflicting information. There is no real evidence pointing out that Blanca had anything to do with his moirail's untimely death. Instead, I'd like to suggest that it was one of the other witnesses who did the deed." They paused to clear their throat, then brought up the information they'd found during their search.

Quote:
Witness Statement: Vesnah Gobsem
"Why did I want to see Ohseen? It's somewhat of a... personal matter. I wanted to warn him that Cassie wasn't who he seemed. He was always a social person but I noticed something wrong in his hive a month ago. I found a series of letters locked in his desk hinting at a black rom affair and I thought Ohseen deserved to know. He grew very upset at our conversation, do you think it might've driven him to kill Cassie out of rage? How awful!"

"Gobsem's statement calls into question whether or not an illicit caliginous affair could have driven Ohseen Bumuun into murdering Cassie Nouvah. Quadrant affairs are a serious matter, if it was indeed true that Nouvah was cheating on his kismesis it's possible that the anger from being wronged could have driven Bumuun into committing the act."

It wasn't the most spectacular argument but Api felt confident in their conclusion. Things were just too murky to be assuming that Cassie Blanca was the one who murdered his own moirail.

Sephos Arbola

Sephos felt oddly drawn to the strange contemplative booth. It felt so alien and strange, a world farther removed than even the Juggalo cult... and very clean. Sephos felt out of place, but...

What was this? It appeared to be a disheveled room. Sephos began to look around, then turned to the booth itself. There appeared to be writing anywhere, more and in tinier print than the greenblood could read.

"What's this?" he asked, interested, in spite of the impossible text. Something felt off here -- and he wanted to help out, if he could.

Sephos Arbola
Sephos listened to the yellowblood -- a troll he recognized -- as they talked about this. Apparently, there was a murder? Trolls died all of the time. Then they rose again. Then they were eaten by plants, and became dirt. But Sephos supposed that someone might want to know who did it. He supposed... he would too.

"Wait," he asked Apibom, social mind working beyond capacity, "Why're we trusting that? People lie..."

Right?

This time Api decided that they'd like to try their hand at detective work instead. They moved about the crime scene, inspecting it for any signs of strange stuff. They moved out back, curious to see if there was anything out side and discovered a potential clue lying in one of the bushes. Aha!

They carefully placed it into an evidence bag, then turned it in to the booth runners for some information. The blade was another one from the same company, and had Cassie Nouvah's blood all over it. Interestingly enough it also had Zeemoy's finger prints - which were also found on the front door of the cabin. Hmm.......

To Api it was beginning to look more and more like Blanca was framed.

Your Honor...
Argument: Defending Cassie Blanca
Score: 21 + 10 = 31

Sephos's question had... admittedly thrown them a little off their game. Yeah, sure, people lied, but... to them it made more sense for the more volatile quadrants to go sour than something like a moirallegiance, even if they were business partners and even if there had been pressure to remove Nouvah from the picture.

"Your honor... In addition um, to the things that I brought up last time..." They trailed off, losing their train of thought for a second before regaining it. "While investigating further I found more evidence that would indicate that Cassie Blanca did not commit the murder. This knife has Zeemoy's prints on it, and it's covered in Nouvah's blood. Note that Blanca's fingerprints are not on this weapon, which I think it's safe to assume this is the murder weapon." Right? It was covered in Nouvah's blood, after all.

Sephos looked at the picture, and at the evidence that Apibom presented. "What's this?" he asked, pointing to a piece of evidence. It looked important, and he needed to know what it was in order to parse it.
