Sephos was starting to feel like they were close -- close to solving the mystery. he'd been thinking about it periodically throughout his sleep, and he wanted to see if the others here could make sense of his ideas.

he was learning so much about trolls, and things were making some sense. The concept of motive was becoming clearer to him. He couldn't stop.

He wouldn't stop.

until he'd solved the case.

Psykgi, as usual, was just ******** around this booth. It was a cool mystery, surprisingly cool, but eh. She wasn't into it.

She was, however, into the people playing the game. So, she played the game, too... if only to see what happened when she added a new factor into their discussions.

Knetic grins, grabbing his evidence and heading to the team. Surely this evidence will lead them to some more conclusions. Everything should start to make sense soon, right? It'll be all for naught if this all doesn't begin to add up. Maybe Mihail found something interesting too? He'd have to ask him about it.

Court is now in session...

You have all the evidence and testimony you can gather from the crime scene investigation and witness interviews. Now it's time to put all that information to use! Who killed Cassie Nouvah? Why did they kill him? And how did they do it? The court demands answers. Today there will be no investigation games to hand out tickets. The three tickets will be handed out to whoever solves the three remaining mysteries of this murder. Whoever submits a form with the correct answer first (and hasn't already won a ticket) will win one of the daily tickets. You must reference at least one piece of evidence or one witness's testimony to support your claim. You can link that evidence or testimony however you like.

You have five guesses each for the three mysteries below. The mysteries must be solved in sequential order. Only one mystery will be open for guesses at a time, beginning with The Murderer. We will move on to the next mystery after each one is solved with an official form in this thread. You may confer with your fellow sleuths for legal counsel.

Use the forms below to submit an official guess to be eligible for winning a daily ticket. Ping Yamashii or Doutei on discord to have them check your answer.

Take That!
Accuse: Vesnah Gobsem and Lyetam Chuuga
Evidence/Testimony: Lyetam’s purse implies that she arrived with Vesnah in Blanca’s Carriage. However, she was not mentioned in the testimonies of either Vesnah or Ohseen. According to the selfie she and Vesnah are close, and Vesnah was observed in Ohseen’s later testimony to be “stalling for time” and to put a screwdriver in her purse, which she would not do unless she felt it could implicate her or her friend.
Explanation: Lyetam and Vesnah knew of the affairs, but despite ragging on the cheating going on in Nouvah’s black quadrant they make no mention of the cheating going on in red. Also they have a photo of themselves with the murder weapon.

The Motive
Objection!
Reason: Infidelity
Evidence/Testimony: According to documents found in Lyetam’s purse, Lyetam had proof that Nouvah was involved in red relationships with both Vesnah and Lyetam. It is very likely that she told this to her friend, and that both would be upset about this. Nouvah had also been cheating on other quadrants, so there may have been some sense of self-righteousness.
Explanation: Lyetam and Vesnah would have felt wronged by Nouvah for the infidelity, and it wasn’t just their quadrant that he was cheating in. Vesnah seems to point the finger at everyone but Lyetam, and Lyetam mentioned that she did not come forward sooner because she was sick with pneumonia from the cold winter… There were footprints through the forest headed back to Civisect found at the scene of the crime- Lyetam’s whereabouts cannot be accounted for aside from her purse in the carriage, placing her at the scene.

The Method
Hold It!
Weapon: Screwdriver
Evidence/Testimony: The screwdriver, found hidden in Vesnah’s bag was used to kill Nouvah. It was then replaced with Zeemoy’s switchblade, which was damaged and would not have been usable for stabbing. Such a blade was seen in a selfie of Vesnah and Lyetam and was found outside of the scene of the crime. with Zeemoy’s fingerprints and Nouvah’s blood. Zeemoy later stated that he replaced the blade with the prototype weapon upon discovering the body to deflect suspicion from himself.
Explanation: A quick stab to the back. Short, to the point, less likely to cause a ruckus considering they were not alone. The switchblade was then used to stage the scene and frame Zeemoy -- the pooling blood was likely due to the true murder weapon being removed.

It had taken them all week, but Api was pretty sure the group had put together a decent story. Granted, there were so many twists and turns they couldn't help but still doubt that they'd gotten it right. Was it even possible TO get it right? They did not envy law enforcement workers in real life, the crimes they had to solve had to be way messier than this... Or, maybe easier, who were they to know?

Either way- Api's job was to compile their findings so that Sephos could present it. The others in their group had helped of course, but since Api and Sephos had been on the case from the beginning, they were going to handle the presenting.

A cold looking blueblood looked over the submitted documents, his eyes reading fast and furious. Their booth had not been especially popular but these trolls had been coming back every night to solve this case. He admired their dedication to the truth. Alternia needed more trolls like that. Which meant they deserved a quick answer to know if they had at last uncovered it.

"Hold it!" He barked suddenly, looking up at the trio. "If the screwdriver was the murder weapon, why was Nouvah's blood found outside in the snow? And why did the killer go out back and stab at the ground?" Kwelin adjusted his glasses and looked at the lot of them. They had come very far in their investigation and were so close on the right track! Just slightly off!

"You are correct, Vesnah and Lyetam appeared to be working together to manipulate the crime scene and had a strong motive. It's just the method that doesn't quite make sense. Why would they go to the trouble of using a screwdriver stolen on scene before swapping it with Zeemoy's knife?"

Hold It!
Weapon: ICICLE!!!!!!!!
Evidence/Testimony: The MSL3D knife was damaged and couldn’t be used as a stabbing weapon. Many of the large icicles on the roof were broken. An icicle CAN kill a troll if used effectively and would melt, leaving no evidence except the planted MSL3D Knife.
Explanation: The screwdriver was used to break off one of the large icicles at the cabin. Lyetam then stabbed Nouvah in the back with it. Then, they planted the MSL3D Knife in its place. Then, they went out back and stomped the icicle into the snow, destroying the evidence but leaving the blood behind.

Ah, shoot. Kwelin was right- they hadn't quite gotten the method down correctly. Apibom returned to the group with the others to re-hash their ideas. Knetic raised a good point- an icicle would leave no evidence behind and very well might explain what was going on outside. It was perfect.

Once they'd gotten the explanation down, Apibom returned to Kwelin and handed in their new findings. Oh, they hoped this was right !

"You're almost there!" Tzofia stood at the side of the booth, a clipboard clutched to her chest as she watched the three investigators presenting their case. Now that it was court day and all the evidence had been gathered, there wasn't much she could do for them, but she couldn't help admiring the work they'd put into it. And maybe she'd gotten a little caught up in the excitement of knowing they were so close. She held her breath as they reconsidered after Kwelin's words, and then...

"That's it," she laughed delightedly, "you got it! Oh, that was wonderful, you really figured it out!" The purpleblood seemed to come to her senses a little then, standing up straighter. "I mean, um. Good work, everyone. Um, Kwelin?" He'd probably had an official way to say it ready to go. Unable to stop smiling even through her embarrassment, she gave him an apologetic nod.

"This is..." Kwelin looked over the newly submitted document very seriously before raising his head up to meet the three of them with a proud smile. "Outstanding. You've really done it. You've solved the case and found the truth!" The blueblood reached down under his counter to pull out a small box and passed out three tickets, one to each of them.

"You're going to make fine investigators out there. Carry on the good work and the IOU will always support you." There were three more items in his hand, one per winner. They weren't real, they wouldn't give the trolls any legal power to stand in an actual court as an attorney but... there was power in the sentiment behind them.

Alternia was plagued by falsehoods and corruption. But it'd be okay so long as there continued to be those who strove to dig, crawl and wade through the lies to grasp at the truths hidden away.

Sephos Arbola

If it wasn't the screwdriver, then Sephos personally thought that it had to be the knife -- repaired, somehow. It's kind of amazing how well things could be repaired with enough work and the right tools. However, the icicle theory -- the one theory Sephos hadn't been sure about -- had ended up being The One.

"Oh." Sephos nodded, heart settled as the truth was revealed, "Good. I think I understand." he turned to Apibom.

"Thank you for helping me." he said, in all honesty. He wouldn't have been able to do very much here without the yellowblood's help, and he appreciated them.

Plus, they were surrounded by bees. Bees were good for plants. Maybe they'd like his greenhouse? Hmmm.
"... do you like punkins?"

While running your booth, you’re approached by pair of a trolls, a yellowblood and a redblood. They stand close together, but you can see they’re holding hands quite tightly and the redblood seems like she’s hanging back slightly. They’re both bundled up, as one would expect in this weather, and the yellowblood seems particularly anxious, biting his lip and rubbing his free palm on his thigh.

“Ahh, I, ah, I w-wanted t-t-to...mmm.” Man his stutter wasn’t great.

The yellowblood shifts a little, eyes darting away then back, digging his hand into his pocket and procuring friendship bracelets.

“H-here, f-or, ah, r---unning a b-booth. Th-thanks.” He hands over the prize, looking a bit flushed and flustered.

You received bracelets from Nictor and Kolako! There’s enough that each troll manning the booth can keep one each!
If i miscounted and missed someone, let me know. Everyone needs a bracelet. Everyone.

If you would like to respond, feel free to quote Nictor! Kolako doesn’t seem very interested in talking though.
