Physical Description: 5'11", mid-length swept back black hair (apparently they call the style I am thinking of a Quiff... ew who names these things?), well-tanned skin (think darker Polynesian skin tones), bright spring green eyes, well-built (broad shoulders, muscular and nice posture too)
Personality: Hyseren is quite a jovial guy. Friendly, helpful, fun-loving. He enjoys chatting with new people and learning about their lives. His sister will tell you he developed this passion for cultures in an effort to avoid working on the ship but he says he just loves learning about new places and how they do things. This man will gladly spend a whole day exploring a new place and spreading smiles and laughter with his keen sense of humor. He especially has a soft spot for young children and he gets great satisfaction from making them laugh although he swears he would never want to be responsible for any himself, far too busy traveling to make a good father figure, he says.
Still, you wouldn't guess that based on his romantic tendencies. This man is almost always flirting with -someone-, or multiple someones, and has had many partners share his bed from all over Pern. Hyseren is a lover of love and he believes that physical connections are a wonderful way to share positive energy with others. He has a bit of a reputation for himself already, as a sweet talker who also knows how to bring his partners great pleasure. He also is gaining quite a reputation among former lovers as the one who got away. He is always tender and caring to his romantic interests and he feels that his kind nature sometimes leads them to forget he is not looking for anything long-term. He is honest though, and will never knowingly lead someone to believe he is interested in being in a monogamous relationship. He has been involved in two polygamous relationships in the past, both ending on good terms when his partners found someone to commit to. Unfortunately he has become a bit of a narcissist in the past few years, Haelwen blames it on all of his partners telling him how handsome he is and falling into his bed. She could be right, but it could also just be an extension of his own self-confidence that has gotten a little out of hand. He isn't severely egotistical but he definitely knows he is good looking and will flaunt it when given a chance.
Arguably his best trait is that is he fiercely protective of his family and friends. This is why he has stayed with his sister at Tillek Hold despite having to cancel plans with some repeat lovers in ports he was meant to continue on to. Haelwen, as his twin, means the most to him with the rest of his family coming a very close second and he was not about to let her stay behind on her own when he could see signs that she was planning something. Even though she hasn't told him what her plans are yet he trusts her judgment enough to know she would do what she believes is best for herself and he is willing to support her and protect her on the journey... and deal with their father in the aftermath if needed.

History: Born in the middle of a massive storm at sea and miles away from any land mass, on the first ship her parents had built together. Hyseren and his twin sister could not have possibly picked a worse time or place to make their arrival to Pern. They were early and it took their parents by surprise, thinking they still had at least another month before the baby (imagine the shock realizing there were two!) was to be born. Though the ship was tossed about like a plaything by the storm his father managed to keep it upright and his expertise as a captain kept his family safe despite the ship being a loss when they finally came ashore. When they reached port in Tillek they stayed with extended family for quite awhile. His father still went out to sea and brought home fish to sell as well as built boats for others to support his newly expanded family while his mother stayed with the babies and helped run the shop.
As soon as his sister and he were old enough to understand safety rules they took to the ship with their father and began traveling all of Pern. Their mother gave them basic lessons aboard the ship to ensure they would have at least some education but once they were old enough their father had them begin helping with duties on the ship.
Hyseren was always happy to help with any duties asked of him but his favorite tasks were the ones that included helping his father build new ships for their own use, or to sell to other fishercrafters. He thrived under his father's instruction and praise and though he was more lax and carefree about his duties than his sister when he -did- work the results were of excellent quality.
He knew of his father's plan for his sister to take over the business and that suited him fine, he would much rather work when inspiration struck him, and play the rest of the time. More than once Hyseren found himself clinging to a cliff-side waiting for someone to aid him before he fell or being chased across the landscape by some beast or another. Once, he decided to test a ship he had built entirely on his own (his first one) despite his father's warnings that it needed adjustment, and when it capsized he was grateful his sister and father had seen him leaving port in the middle of the night and followed him so they could pull him from the frigid waters.
Hyseren has a soft spot for his little brother and often spends time playing games with him outside of his lessons. However as he has gotten older his brother has taken on a more serious role in the family business, much like his sister, which left Hyseren a lot of time to mingle with people wherever they docked. He has met many people, learned about various cultures and political systems, and made quite a few lasting connections that he can fall back on if he needs to. When they reached Tillek Hold and Haelwen said she was going to stay to help with the expansion he knew she had something else planned and so he stayed as well. After all, who knows what adventure might await him if he stays at her side?
Other: His parents and younger brother live on a ship and share homes with extended family at various ports on occasion. He has stayed in Tillek with his (slightly older) twin sister because he suspects that her enthusiasm towards making repairs and expansions to their family shop has ulterior motives and he is not about to get left out on the adventure! He has not experienced any real loss in his life, he makes friends easily wherever he goes but not deep enough to feel a profound sadness if they lose contact.

Do you want them to have a possible Stands Impression? I am planning for him to be an official candidate at the Weyr but if only Haelwen is searched I could have him making a delivery to the Weyr at hatching time and do a stands impression!
