Name: Ri’ven (Formerly Rilaven)
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman Healer
Physical Description: A mountain of a man at 6’7” with hair like fire often pulled into a high tail full of loose and wavy curls, that same hair falls down to fringe around his face and soften the scars over his left eyebrow and on his cheek from a hatchling attack. Most people miss it when looking him in his tanned face for his bright green eyes and the large grin that seems semi-permanently plastered on it, no matter what the situation. While he has somewhat gentler features they do nothing to mask the fact that his body was made for work and muscle has formed from turns of drills and practices and filled him out until he was almost as impressive as his dragon. (As if Hoath would have it any other way)
Personality: If someone were to call R'iven a 'momma's boy' to his face he would instantly respond that he absolutely is and always will be! Having been raised by two supportive mothers with their full spectrum of love and teachings, one mother an actual teacher and the other a rider, he was free to do whatever he wanted as long as he worked as hard as he could to achieve it on his own. It made him into a workaholic for certain but that's never been a bad thing to him even if others tend to tell him to chill out on it because they worry for him, he's never had the ability to slow down. Because he never slows down he also doesn't tend to pay attention to things that he should as he rushes about, which makes him more than a little oblivious to other's motives or needs unless they make sure to spell it out to him very clearly. Once done he's quite obliging, even overly so in his attempts to support others with whatever it might be that they need.

This has a tendency to be taken advantage of if he gets too involved in caring about others, generally he's just a bit too oblivious to see that he's being manipulated, some would even say overly so. But really he just wants to help! Sometimes it takes the force of his mother's bearing down upon him or Hoath repeatedly pointing it out for him to finally accept that others motives might be less than genuine. Given his rather laid back and low-key attitude on life Ri'ven doesn't like to accept that others might be cruel or manipulative even if he knows it for a fact, but he does what he can in his life and accepts the things that he can and can't do something about. Just because others can be that way doesn't give him any right to be, so he makes sure to be as supportive of all those around him as he can, complimenting them, helping them when they need it and just generally going out of his way to be pleasant like his mother's taught him.

If he can't get along well with someone generally Ri'ven won't even give them the time of day, but that's not to say he'll go out of his way to avoid them. Able to compartmentalize rather spectacularly, something that makes it very easy to deal with his vain and almost excessively needy brown, he can deal with just about anything that comes his way without letting it affect any other part of his life.

Positive Trait List: Low-key, Well Adjusted, Supportive, Complimentary
Negative Trait List: Oblivious, Overly Obliging, Workaholic, Easily Manipulated

History: A small redhead abandoned on the doorstep of the Creche many turns ago, Rilaven was the picture of happy and bubbly from the moment one of the crechworkers picked him up and fell instantly in love with him. His time in the Creche was, of course, short lived due to this instant adoration on the part of his first mother and only came in twofold when she took him back to the weyr she shared with her dragonrider weyrmate who was just as instantly smitten as her wife was. Having had no children of their own despite both trying in vain attempts, the crecheworker and her green dragonrider wife took to spoiling the small boy as much as they could, giving him everything and anything that he could ever want while simultaneously expecting him to work hard to earn his keep once he was old enough to understand. Chores were set down for him from the moment he could walk and lift things. Even if it was something just as simple as fetching things within his reach or petting his mother's big green dragon in order to soothe her after a training session or a sweep, bonding with the somewhat stand-offish green despite her slight disdain for small children, which eased as he grew.

It wasn't long before he was old enough to run actual errands, clean, tend actual needs of others, and always be on the lookout for things about his mother's weyr and the actual Weyr itself that others might need. Some claimed that his mothers raised him to be this way but the young man would happily wave a hand at any of those nay-sayers as he worked himself quite happily until he was worn out, then sleeping like a dead thing once glows dimmed. While his mothers both happily informed him that he could be anything that he wanted the boy wanted nothing more than to help others and so it was with pride that he took his apprenticeship as a Healer. It took him to a different home, one that he’d never experienced before, a Hold was certainly different than a Weyr in many ways but there were a number of dragons that still flew around Fort Hold and so he felt a bit calmer. It might have taken another weyrbrat some time, but Rilaven threw himself into work the way he always had and ignored any indications of discomfort that he felt in the interest of learning.

While at Fort Hold he focused hard on his studies and with time was able to focus on the Healing techniques that eventually lead him to walk the tables to his Journeyman title. It wasn't immediate, his return to High Reaches Weyr, Rilaven happily stayed at Fort Hold for a while, still studying and knowing that he could be in contact with his mothers if he so needed with the aid of the finicky little green he still adored. It was during one of their visits that he was informed of an incoming hatching, the queen had just risen into the sky for a flight and while not every hatching could be violent it was suggested that maybe he come to help aid the healers there. After given permission from his master, Rilaven set off with his mothers to see what it was like to for a healer to work in a Weyr. Though there were some months of buildup to the hatching he never stopped learning what he could from the healers that worked there for turns and turns, dealing with fire head and many of the other ailments that plagued dragon riders. It was interesting to him to learn everything that he could, expecting that he might like to travel to different Weyrs in the future to learn more and more, seeing how he'd grown in one and was fond of dragons.

When the time came he was given the opportunity to stand with the healers and keep an eye on candidates that needed help, expected to wait at the edge of the sands for them to either come to them or be brought there. So it was that he was extremely surprised when a very angry dragonet came to the edge of the sands following a candidate that needed at the very least stitches. Though he'd been told not to get in the way of them, Rilaven stepped to block the candidate that was now off the sands from the claws of the relentless baby and was rewarded with claws to the knee, stomach and face that brought a different sort of screaming bellow from the sands than what the hatchling before him was making. A red eyed little brown dragon with wings that seemed to sparkle like fiery stars tore across the sands violently towards it's sibling, hissing and snarling for it to leave him alone. Though he was bloodied, Rilaven was confused enough to stay blocking the wounded candidate with his own body until the brown had chased it's brother away and turned back to look at him with eyes like a rainbow. It was beautiful until the little brown chose to speak and his words left his newly bonded rider laughing as he reached out to pull him in close. Never once had he met a dragon so vain, but as the little brown with his delicate features had risked his own little life to protect him, Ri'ven couldn't help but chuckle when Hoath told him to get cleaned up before he considered touching him. Which of course made his beautiful little dragon recoil a bit.

Given their location the newly minted Weyrling pair trained, after Ri'ven was admonished, and graduated into the ranks of High Reaches wingrider ranks. He did still express a desire to help the healers given his former rank and all his training, but it was in whatever free time that he had during those days. Free time that disappeared for a bit during the return of Thread only a few years after his meeting Hoath; so it was that Ri'ven and Hoath spent their days fighting Thread and then checking with the Healers when the redhead had any free time to do so. Days have begun to bleed together a bit, but there have been no regrets.
Other:

DRAGON
Name: Hoath
Age: 9
Color: Brown
Size: 40'
Physical Description: Built almost as fragile looking as can be, despite how dainty his frame appears, this brown is leggy and long of tail which adds to his looming size which ends just a couple feet shy of maximum. Everything about him screams of cleanliness and given how often he's washed and oiled Hoath tends to glow in a way that makes the pattern on his wings appear even more starry.
Personality: Vanity is an understatement when it comes to this dragon, even the tiniest bit of dirt gets on his hide or Thread glances down his side or wing then Hoath will be inconsolable until his rider does something, anything, about it. Sometimes a pouting child if he doesn't get seen to immediately, it has lead to his rider cleaning or seeing to his wounds straight away before anything else can happen. If he could Hoath would honestly get cleaned and oiled every single day, to some extent that actually happens if Ri'ven has the time. As such, thanks to what the dragon views as extreme amounts of hard working loyalty, Hoath is endlessly loyal to his rider as a result, even riskily so.

While he is vain and dislikes dirt and damage he has no issue throwing himself in the way of danger and damage to save Ri'ven if anything should risk his life. Hoath gets angry if his rider risks himself but he'll make certain to always be there to save him just as he was during their first meeting at the edge of the sands many turns ago. Not selfless, exactly, he just doesn't want anything to happen to such a good man as it was that heart and supportive nature that drew him towards a man that wasn't even a candidate.

Contrary to his own almost contrary personality, Hoath's vanity is not above helping others (or above whining even when helping them), especially during Threadfall. Eyes always watchful, it's not that he's determined to protect everyone that he can, but unnecessary damage can be avoided if others watch out for each other and the brown is bound and determined to see that none of his wingmates overextend themselves. It could be said that he's picking up on Ri'ven's desire as a former healer to see that no one hurts themselves or is damaged physically but it comes down to simple mechanics. If one of his wingmates is hurt then that weakens their entire flight formation and if the entire flight formation is weakened even a little then it puts himself and his rider at risk.
