Name: R'min
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Weyrbrat
Physical Description: R'min stands a solid 6'3" with broad shoulders, a muscular frame, and light brown skin. He keeps his shock of thick, dark-brown hair short, but not too short; just enough length to allow fingers to run through it, or to style it in some fashion. It grows quickly, though, and nine times out of ten is a bit more shaggy than well kept--but it's a look he somehow manages to pull off. He keeps himself in shape, and isn't at all body shy. He has piercings in a variety of places, along with a full sleeve tattoo that starts from his shoulder and goes down to his wrist.

He's a good looking man, who never had much trouble finding bedmates. He tends to sport a rugged look, usually with some sort of facial scruff of some variety, but now and again he goes clean shaven. There are a few ugly scars on his back, and some on his upper right thigh from old Threadscore injuries. They're not pleasant to look at, but are a few Turns old at this point and don't cause him too much trouble.

Personality: R'min is the stereotypical, laid-back, Western rider. He's the sort of man who just likes to keep things simple and easy; getting upset or irate is simply way too much effort, and likely, won't change anything anyway. He's the sort of man who enjoys going with the flow and won't put up too much resistance when the winds of change begin to blow. Not because he doesn't care, but because he'd rather take the easiest road possible, and that usually means just rolling with whatever some more vocal party desires. He doesn't like confrontation, doesn't like to make waves, and is happy to live his life as carefree as possible. This can, of course, turn him a bit indolent. He has no real ambition, and prefers to take the easy path when he can. Certainly, he's devoted to Antereth and a capable Threadfighter, but he's not the sort looking to rise up in rank like his father, or take on more than is absolutely-necessary. He'd much rather lounge with his blue and watch the stars. He works out to keep himself looking good, but he's not ever at risk of turning into a junkie about it. Bare minimum is good enough for him!

Confident, R'min walks with a natural saunter, and insecurity isn't a feeling he knows well. He believes in himself and his abilities, and when things get tough, he's not the sort to look to someone else for help. He doesn't think he's better than anyone, of course not; he simply has a natural self-assurance. No matter how high the mountain he must climb, no matter how difficult the task, R'min believes he can get himself into and out of any scrape or pickle, no matter the odds. He's a sociable creature, not at all a wall-flower, and has no trouble being in the limelight.

Affectionate in nature, R'min has always enjoyed physical contact. As a young boy and weyrbrat he was always holding hands, or cuddling up to his fathers. He's not at all afraid of being public with his displays of affection or fondness, not afraid to hug when a friend was in need, or offer a sibling a kiss on the cheek or forehead. To his lovers, R'min is known as quite physical and tactile. He's the sort of man who enjoys affection a great deal, and can't seem to get enough time with his partners. Unfortunately, that can lead him to being a bit, well, clingy. Not because he can't cope without them, but because he tends to prefer company than be without.

His lovers might find themselves feeling quite overwhelmed or impatient by his need for physical contact and closeness. His version of giving them space is likely not at all what their version is, and that has lead to breakups. His clingy nature can also affect his platonic relationships as well; he gets irritable when he hasn't spent time with his family, or hasn't checked in; and Faranth forbid he ever get the idea that he's been left out of some function or gathering. Granted, his breezy nature means he likely won't grump vocally about it, but that doesn't mean he might not feel a bit sore or lonely.

Lastly, and a side of him he doesn't like to show, is that R'min can be possessive of those who are his. Perhaps it's his clingy nature, but he doesn't like things that are "his" taken away from him. It may have to do with the fallout between L'cal and R'mor, but losing loved ones is difficult for him. His family is his, and you can bet he'll be there to eyeball any interloper looking to court his siblings; if a lover's ex crosses his path, he's known to quietly bristle. This goes against his usual easy-going ways, but it can't be helped.

Positive Trait List Easy-Going, Self-Assured, Affectionate
Negative Trait List Indolent, Possessive, Clingy
History: Rulymin was born and raised in Western Weyr. He is the epitmoe of a weyrbrat through and through. His fathers, R'mor and L'cal, raised him relatively loosely--he was raised as much by them as any creche kid, but without Threadfall, had a lot more time to spend with his family and their dragons. He was raised in a loving family, and spent much of his youth doing what weyrbrats do--getting into trouble, getting out of trouble, and dreaming of the day they too would Impress. Much of his youth was unremarkable. He had older and younger siblings, and two father's who adored him. He lacked in nothing. He had as much love as a boy could ask for, as much guidance as he could ignore, and a huge family that supported him.

At Turn 14, Rulymin took his right to stand for Impression, and lo-and-behold, a blue dragon fell across his feet, creeling desperately for attention. Not just anyone's attention though--his! It was, perhaps, one of the easiest things Rulymin, now R'min, had ever done. Any nerves he had about failing his fathers, any worries about never finding his, none of that came to be. In fact, R'min found all of his worries and concerns melted away within minutes of the Hatching beginning! Antereth never had any doubt about who was most perfect for him, and knew that the laid-back man would be putty within his perfectly beautiful claws.

If he had ever worried about somehow failing to Impress some color, everything he could have hoped, and more, was found within the beautiful blue dragonet. His Impression to Antereth was and will always be his proudest, and most happiest, day.

R'min and Antereth went through weyrling training without much trouble--or at least not any more than any of the other weyrlings in his class! Antereth had some ambition, but was not at all rushed in when it came to pass. While the blue would not be against having more responsibility, his rider seems to prefer life in the easy lane. Thankfully, Antereth isn't terribly pushy...yet. The blue always gets what he wants, in his own time, and right now, enjoying life and all its pleasures sounds better than rank and priorities. No, any ambition stirring within Antereth is a long-game, and one R'min happily ignores.

For the two of them, life was nothing but fun in the sun. Having no official craft, R'min and Antereth made marks doing odd jobs. Sometimes that was delivering goods or individuals to some place or another on Pern; sometimes it was hunting wild game, or fishing to help feed the Weyr; sometimes he'd model at the local Courtesan Hall--and wind up spending all his hard earned marks sampling their wares, afterwards. Marks weren't so important to the rider, and he wasn't so proud as to begrudge being nothing more than a worker of the Weyr.

When Threadfall returned, R'min and Antereth were one of the lucky ones. He and Antereth immediately volunteered to search for survivors, and the images of the dead and dying; of nothing but remains, of people half-devoured haunt him still. It wasn't long before refugees and terrified people began flocking to the Weyr, certain Western could save them. Unfortunately, Western Weyr could hardly save itself, with no firestone and no training. It was one of his biggest fears and largest shames; how they used to look at High Reaches Weyr so strangely, and yet... It was the mountain Weyr that saved them all.

Though he chafed at some of the old traditions, ultimately, it was High Reaches who knew what they were doing, and R'min learned eagerly. Though he's rather indolent, Threadfall and his duty as a rider sit firmly within both R'min and Antereth. Never again does he want to see Holds, land, people, and animals so devastated by the silver rain; never does he want to let them down as he feels they did by being so unprepared.

Other: He's left-handed.

DRAGON
Name: Antereth
Age: 11
Color: Blue
Size: 27'
Physical Description: Antereth is about average for a blue. He's a beautiful beast, though, and has lovely, sleek, streamlined proportions. He's less heavy, and more graceful. His wings are long and thing, which allows him speed, and agility that's terribly useful during Threadfall. Unfortunately, his small size does mean that when he does get hit, or taken down, he goes down hard. His headknobs are longer than a dragon's ought to be, with much of his body made up of neck and tail.

Personality: Antereth is the brains and ambition behind R'min... but also the vanity. Where his rider can be indolent, with little desire to do much but enjoy the easy life in the sun, Antereth isn't going to let his rider sit back and be overlooked. No, when it comes to drills and training, Antereth is ready to encourage his rider to step up his game; when it comes to duty, Antereth is the one reminding R'min that no, they can't just while away their afternoon at the beach.

That said, this blue isn't completely all work and no play. In fact, this blue is in no rush to see his ambitions through, and knows how to take the scenic route to success. A vain creature, this blue does seem to make allowances and exceptions to duty when he might find someone to coo over him, or find a small coterie of beautiful dragons to drape himself around. He's a beautiful creature, and isn't at all afraid to use such things to his advantage.

Ah, but Antereth and R'min aren't all opposites. Antereth loves attention, and R'min is only too happy to give him all he wants and more. The blue is also just as possessive as his rider, and like him, has no intention of letting anyone know such a truth. Once this blue finds someone or something to claim as his own, he will claim it, or find a way to make it his--and once in his grasp, he won't let go.
