Physical Description: Soft, soft, soft. If she wasn't obviously seen at work on a daily basis, one would think that Mailse had never done a day of hard work in her life. Her thick, dark, wavy hair has been cut short to just long enough to be pulled back from her face and her olive skin has gone unscarred, having never faced dragon claw nor thread.
Personality: Mailse has never been her own first priority. Between her parents' plans for her, then her once-husband's, and then her daughter, Mailse has spent a lot of her life living it for somebody else, and it shows quite plainly. When asked about herself, she tends to spend a long time scrounging for some answer she doesn't have with any certainty, and if asked about her preferences she simply doesn't have any strong ones. If told to take control on behalf of another's well being she can do it with both hands tied behind her back and blindfolded, but if given a day off for herself.......well, she simply won't know what to do with herself. Usually, this doesn't bother her. But sometimes it is so glaringly sore that she'll dig up some task or temporary hobby to put her mind to for a few weeks to put that lingering sense of wrongness to rest.
At the end of the day, however, she doesn't consider herself anything more than another face in the crowd and that is just fine. Not everybody was born to be special and spotlighted, and she was one of those meant to be a face in the background. She will fight anybody who says the same of themselves, but when it comes to her self-worth, it follows closely with her inability to define what she could want in life in that she simply must not want anything because she doesn't deserve it.
On behalf of others, however, she has a temperament that would tame a wild beast with only words and a core of iron. She is unbending and uncompromising, but she is not aggressive. No, her voice will not raise above an indoor volume, and in some ways her hushed whispers are more powerful than any shout. Some could say she's incapable of being angry, solving most altercations with a smile and a lingering hand rested on an arm. Any trouble or discourse that is brought to Mailse is always met with all cylinders of the brain-engine going and a plethora of potential solutions. There is no half-hearted in anything she does (if not for herself), only full dedication. That said, the most trouble she sees is never big, dealing mostly with children and not angry holders.
Generally considered plain and to some perhaps even boring, Mailse would be the party's designated driver, if such a thing were generally needed in Pern. She needs a little coaxing to live it up, and even then it is usually within safe limitations on her part so she can make sure nobody ends up in a hole that has mysteriously opened up in the middle of the Weyrbowl and tried to swallow a weyrling and his sister. She doesn't consider this the worst of fates, but she could certainly stand to live a little more. On the flip side, with Mailse on hand you are definitely guaranteed to end up where you wanted to be safely - and likely tucked in with a cup of klah.

History: Born in Fort Hold, the first daughter of 6 children, Mailse spent most of her time learning to homemake with her mother while her older brothers joined their father in his work as a Trader. Mailek made early arrangements for his daughter to marry the eldest son of one of his partners.
Mailse was not married for long. Her new husband was searched and after he impressed he brought her to High Reaches with him. She found a useful place in the creche, and with her days spent dedicated to the children of others, her husband found the time to spend in the arms of others. Such affairs only increased once she gave birth to their first child. She was not blind to such activities and soon the two separated amicably. However, Mailse was unwilling to separate her daughter from her father, so she remained in the niche she had come to fill.
She never entertained the idea of a dragon, though her daughter has such attentions for her father's lifemate, and instead has devoted to her task which may not be as noble as Threadfighting but is no less important to free up other hands that may need to be.
Other: Mailse's daughter is now 13.
