Physical Description: Diz’s most unique characteristic is the vitiligo pattern on his dark skin that reminds one of a runnerbeast. He keeps his dark brown hair short which tends to curl upwards into a wispy mop. He’s got a face that reads impish, and his shorter height adds to it.
Personality: Diz looks like and acts like the puckish prince out of a fairytale. Dragon downed? He’s got a joke for that. Day boring? He’s got a list of people to mess with. No time to have a downer moment, my guys. While he never means for his pranks to be mean spirited, he can sometimes get caught up in the moment and forget that not everybody’s got the same brand of humor as his.
In truth Diz covers his insecurities with that barrage of jokes. You can’t get made fun of if you make fun of yourself first—or pretend you’re full of yourself to the point that other opinions don’t matter. His ADHD mannerisms annoy others, but to Diz it means never looking back or remembering the bad times. Or the bad jokes. (Which he does not have, thank you!) He still hasn’t quite gotten over the fact that he was just an anchor baby for his mother to avoid a terrible life, and her subsequent abandonment has left a hole in him that he desperately tries to hide with a winning smile. As such he always feels like he’s a fringe element in people’s lives rather than a centerpiece or a noteworthy addition. He finds his own way of standing out to combat this feeling of iniquity, even if it nets him negative attention.
Past the cliche one liners and bruised ego, the kid does have a good heart. Diz struggles against the rigid rules of High Reaches, especially the standards set for its bronze riders, but he tries to do well by others on his own merits. Friends and family meld together to him, and the greater weyr at large is full of his brothers, sisters, and whatever else they’d rather be called. He’s taken to calling people as such, even (and especially) if they don’t care for him. At least then he can pretend he’s got a family, right?
Challenges are something he just can’t help but try to rise to, whether it’s someone ignoring him or being told he can’t do something. Diz wants to be legendary, memorable, burning like a bright candle in a dark night. He might have some harebrained ideas on accomplishing that, but his fearless nature and an equally stalwart dragon sees him through. Usually.

History: Diz knew that his mother originally came to High Reaches to pursue a safer life and decide to throw her lot in with a dragonrider as one of different backup plans. Safer from what? He didn’t get a chance to ask. Her union with the dragonrider resulted in his birth, but Deliza didn’t bother with him begin sending him to the crèche so he couldn’t bother her kitchen work and plotting.
When he was close to 5 turns old, his mother, at barely the upper age ranges of High Reaches’s candidacy age, bonded with a dragon, graduated, and left. Diz had tried countless times to connect with her despite the uncles and aunties warning him against it, but between taking care of her new green and mulling over the next leg of her journey beyond whatever it was that had frightened her to the weyr to begin with, Deliza was far too busy to pay attention. Or rather, she avoided him every chance she got until an opportunity arose and whisked her away.
Otherwise, Diz grew up alongside the other weyrbrats, raising just a little bit of chaos to keep things interesting for his caretakers. To be fair, some of it wasn’t intentional: Diz had a habit of wandering off at the slightest curiosity and coming back muddied with a new toy. It was by their kindness that he began calling people brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles and cousins. “Mom” and “Dad” just hit a bit too close to home.
Once Cusnth came along and he actually had to study, it became more pressing that Diz wasn’t so quick on the draw. He finally did graduate late after being incredibly sick with the flu and consequently being forced into more remedial lessons. Now the pair are finally part of a fighting wing, perhaps a bit more scrappy than High Reaches likes.
Other: Thrives on being pushed away, especially in romance. The more someone is out of his league, the more likely he'll pester them.

Physical Description: At the wrong angle, Cusnth is blinding to look at and practically a menace on sunny days. Otherwise, he’s average in proportions for his length. His flame control and manipulation are quite good, and the bronze has a surprising well of strength for his youth and size.
Personality: Cusnth is a protector and a hero, a devotee to the art of being cool while doing so. Whether he actually succeeds or not. Happy to trip over himself to lend a claw (and sometimes doing so), he’s eager to do good but is more cautious of the rules than his rider. Some might say Cusnth is a boy scout even! He just wants to herd everyone behind him so that he, a bronze who clearly knows what he’s doing, can be in the way of danger and save the day.
He doesn’t think the color hierarchy is the best thing in the world, but if bronzes have to be near the top, he should act the part, right?

Cusnth is one who paints himself as perfect, but not to be arrogant. He truly thinks that he needs to be at his best 100% of the time 24/7, and that being anything less is failing his rider and his weyr. He tries to fit his flashy appearance, following in Diz’s footsteps of making even the worst situation manageable with a joke and a capable set of claws. Certain things, however, like flirting, are sure to cut through the bluster and reveal the awkward dragonet at hearts he still is. He also shares in his rider’s insecurities and is a lot more likely to reveal them if caught metaphorically with his pants down. While Diz is the one who wants to be set apart, Cusnth is the one who just wants to be accepted into the fold.
