Just training posts during the five-year time skip.
A depressed mouse finds his resolve after returning to Arashi from the wilds!

Cashew withdrew Swiss, the trusty rapier from its sheath, preparing for an intense training session. This blade was the very extension of himself, and his favored weapon by far. While most shinobi favored the Katana, or similar weapons, the mouse took a strong liking to the overall design and application of this particular sword. Taking a couple practice swings, Cashew tested its weight and feel, having long since used the blade since his... dark days. Some practice would be required before he'd get used to wielding it in paws once again. Even then, it felt good to shake off the dust, and really show Tosokurui and the village what he was made of. Practice swings soon turned into thrusts and swats in the open air. His stance was loose, yet unwavering, allowing him to move speedily unhindered while maintaining incredible balance. He practiced thrusting suddenly, and swatting, all while quickly darting forwards or backwards. Upon 'stepping away' from an imagined attack, he flicked his wrist sideways, as if deflecting the strike. He continued his assault afterwards, darting forward and performing a quick double thrust, taking advantage of the open opportunity for an impressive counter strike.

Basic sword strikes were fine and dandy, but Cashew knew it would take much more umph than that in order to take down the opposition if needed. Channeling elemental chakra natures would be the answer to this, providing effects to his strikes that would give him the advantage. Especially with lightning, which he had a strong affinity for, that could really overwhelm the strongest of foes if he played his cards right. There was also the matter of his size, which, while it could be a good thing that he was a smaller target, it also decreased his range. Resilience was of little issue for Cashew, for he intended to use his speed, unpredictability, and small size to deal with such matters. However, on the topic of range, leaping attacks would suffice. Leaping upwards in an arc towards the dummy, he'd charge Swiss with his mighty elemental lightning chakra. Like lightning itself, he came crashing down on the dummy, delivering a multitude of jabs which pierced it with ease. The mousketeer continued to practice this leaping strike until he had it down to near perfection. Afterwards, focusing more on his stance work, and powerful thrusting attacks that could deal with armored targets. He could already feel the muscle memory quickly return as he wielded Swiss with grace, speed, and courage.

The next set of techniques the mouse prepared himself to learn, was to supplement the straightforward and offensive nature of the rapier style. Tetsunami no Ryu focused more on the defensive, fluid footwork, movement, and circular patterns. With the combination of the two, Cashew felt confident enough that this would circumvent his lack of a defensive weapon without compromising his speedy style of combat. Firstly, the mouse practiced the basic stances of the style. Deflecting Stance, which was quite relaxed, allowing one ease of movement while on the defensive. It was less about standing firm to brace attacks, but rather with grace without sacrificing mobility, which Cashew enjoyed a lot. The Blocking Stance was a different story, being quite the opposite of the deflecting stance, naturally. Cashew practiced this stance as well, learning to hold his ground, and perform strong, formidable blocking techniques with Swiss. It was more linear, which was fine with the mousketeer, and he soon discovered that even in the blocking stance, his speed was not hindered. Moving on to basic countering and deflecting techniques, Cashew had to adjust himself to wielding Swiss quite differently than normal. Aside from the typical thrusts and deflections he used normally, wielding a rapier in circular patterns proved to be quite a challenge at first.

The blade generally wasn't built for this kind of movement, but Cashew persevered through, determined to make it work. Soon these movements would come quite naturally to him, and he could move on to more advanced sections of the style. Utilization of chakra in this style was used to bolster the overall defenses of the practitioners moveset. Vortexes and whirlwinds of chakra with the force of crashing waves consumed the blade, offering overwhelming effects. In the case of disarming and superior defensive strategies, Cashew found this more than useful. The style itself, focused around the principles he was learning along the way, was specifically designed with combating multiple targets. The circular movements, countering strikes, the forceful nature of the chakra channeling... it all started to come together. Fighting multiple targets was not easy, and the circular movement allowed one to keep tabs on every target, while countering providing a means of using their own numbers against them. To continue moving, would be the bane of any number of enemies focused on a single target. And what do you think that means for a small mouse?

Cashew placed Swiss back in its sheath and removed it from his furry body. Done with sword training for now, he'd move on to some Taijutsu. Ironic, for such a small animal to decide to take down his much larger foes with brute strength, right? Well, Cashew had a few tricks up his sleeve. Strong Fist would be the first style the mouse learned, a style based solely around taking opponents down with all of your might. He practiced the basic aggressive aerial techniques, getting used to manipulating his speed to launch himself forcefully through the air. Naturally, this would increase the overall momentum, thus the force behind his attacks, which was crucial for someone as small as Cashew. He had to make every strike count where it could. The randomness and speed of such techniques offered valuable opportunities in the form of surprise or sudden attacks. The mouse practiced the next set of brutal techniques on the testing dummies. This compromised of more powerful aerial kicking strikes, meant to sent opponents flying. On several occasions, did a dummy or two go sailing across the room. Debilitating, powerful strikes with punches and kicks that could shatter bones were released upon the dummies. Even those that could create cracks and craters within the ground! It would be truly a terrifying sight for anyone who happen to witness this two-foot mouse performing such feats of strength. Cashew couldn't believe it himself that he'd be capable of such a thing. Yet here he was, and the only thing he could thank was his devotion to his training.

Kasier Fist, a far more brutal style than strong fist, while offering some protection via armor. Cashew found this style quite necessary due to his size, lacking in overall resilience. This would definitely boost that, providing ample defenses while allowing him to use his strength beyond his potential. Generating the armor came quickly, and with little practice. It was to be expected for a mouse who had taken a penchant for Taijutsu, despite primarily wielding Swiss the Rapier most of the time while he was on duty. The armor was form-fitting, naturally, and while it was active the mouse engaged in some heavy-style violence! Throwing meaty punches running at full speed, brutal headbutts, and debilitating slams on the dummies. The training area was quickly evolving into a wrestler's playground as Cashew leaped around, body slamming, pile driving, elbow dropping any remaining standing dummies. All of this was easily done with the protection of the armor, preventing any injuries to himself while he performed all of these crazy maneuvers. This went on for quite some time, as the mousketeer found himself having loads of fun throwing his (what little he had of it) weight around and damaging foes without recoil.

Mirror Image would quickly become Cashew's main style in combat. It focused a lot on speed, which the mouse prioritized above all else. The use of after images would come in handy in order to distract and disorient foes, while putting his natural speed to better use. The mouse was already moving about in zig zag motions, slowly increasing up to his maximum speed. In order to achieve the after images, he'd have to surpass even this, and that is what Casheew planned to do. With determination and an amazing amount of effort, Cashew was able to break his speed threshold, thus creating the after images which follow him with each and every movement. He'd practice utilizing them to perform feints and dodges, before supplementing his own attacks. Upon testing on a dummy, he soon realized he could make partial and full afterimages, capable of landing physical strikes in addition to his own. After much time racing around and darting into dummies, this speedy electric mouse had a firm understanding of how to utilize afterimages properly.

Freestyle whirlwind would further supplement his speed, offering utilization of the terrain in order to maximize his speedy potential. Originally based off of parkour moves and acrobatics, the mouse first started with some proper stretching. Despite knowing full well his body would be capable of handling such training, it never hurt to be cautions. Somersaults, flips, vaults, and rolls. They were the basic and very important to the fluidity of movement overall when it came to this style. He practiced them all rigorously, learning how to perform them effectively, then doing so once more with the combination of this natural speediness. The end result was incredible, despite all of this just being basic stuff, it was a stepping stone towards greater things. General parkour practice was next. It required him to learn how to control his speed and manipulate his movements properly to navigate through and across different types of terrain. Using the room around him, he'd leap off of the walls, roll or slide under tables and chairs, and even vault over them if he was feeling fancy. Adding in the combination of somersaults, cartwheels, bounding leaps, and wall jumps helped keep his movement fluid and his speed constant. He was literally a dashing mouse, speeding around the room like a bullet. Next would come adding in offensive applications, such as kicks primarily. Cashew also took this time to include things such as headbutts and body slams. No matter how far he tried to stray away from his 'wild side', he was still an animal at heart. It was okay to resort to such primitive forms of attacks, especially when they were bolstered by Shinobi abilities.

Cashew's strong affinity to the lightning element caused him to study and train in regards to using it to it fullest potential. Having harnessed some innate lightning abilities somehow, he focused on those first. Learning how to imbue lightning into his body and weapons to further augment them, as well as weaponizing the lightning itself for various purposes. Channeling lightning throughout his mousy frame came with ease over time, with arcs of lightning filling the room as he trained. In his paw, he was able to manifest lightning as spears, or an electric orb of energy of which he could use as a weapon. Other techniques allowed him to move at breakneck speeds, or recall weapons back into his possession should they somehow be relinquished of his control.
