[Evanescently Magnificent]

Existing in a old and forgotten time, outside the boundaries of normal conversations there is the night hag's home. No one can truly say for how long ahe has existed here in these damp, dark woods, as time and space run differently here but one thing is certain is that she brews powerful old magic in her lair. It is said that the only way to enter this plane is if she wills it, and that the only way to leave it is with her death though whether this is true or not will likely never be known.

"Oh! Mr. Nowd!! That's a pump-"

It was the last thing Mariko could get out before a blinding light took them all by surprise. The young girl instinctively flinched in reaction, only to open her eyes to see that they were no longer on Captain Noud's ship. There were nothing but large ominous trees surrounding them for miles, with murky green water below. "W-where are we...? What happened?" She whimpered in a hushed tone, clinging to Noud's right leg and using it hide her own from view. She was clearly very uncomfortable with their new surroundings; looking around frantically as if some kind of monster would hop out from the shadows around them. "Mr. Nowd, c-can we go back to the ship...?" Mariko had heard of swamps before but only in the form of tales inhabiting monsters like the Boogeyman and witches. People get lost in places like this and never see the light of day again.

"Ow." The young girl softly whined as she rubbed her knee when they landed. They both were disheveled. The girl had scratches and cuts on her clothing with dried blood but it looked like she was recently healed before coming here. Her hair was long, down to her lower back. Her eyes were dirty but there were tear-stained marks down to her cheeks. As for the massive Foo Dog, his mane had sticks and twigs sticking out. Dried blood on his fur/scales. He too, looked like he had been healed. The massive guardian growled softly, "I'm fine." The girl replied as she looked around. Where were they? This was all wrong! "I'm supposed to be waiting for that lady! To find my parents!" Komo shouted angrily as she was upset. The blue-haired girl was holding a headband of the Konoha. The one that the lady had given them. With a sigh, she attempted to tie it around her head. It fell. Fine. She tied it around her waist. It was snug and slightly tilted but it was staying on. Once they finally had the time to look around, they spot another child but they were hesitant. They didn't know where they were. With that, Komo stayed behind the Foo Dog's hind leg as he walked to the child, "Are you too lost, child?" His voice was deep and silky. Tenshi figured that maybe, she too had been teleported like them. Or she was a trap. Odd girl, who wears eyepatches these days?

No answer would come from the ship captain Noud, and in fact should Mariko look up she would notice that the leg she had been holding onto was one made out of wood and completely detached from any possible body starting at the thigh. A closer survey of the swamp around her would also reveal that their once eager Jounin leader could be nowhere to be seen. In fact, there was nothing but endless trees in any direction one looked, their trunks reaching so far into the sky that the mists obscured the tops.

The only thing in this murky dead wood was a single hut placed brisk walk away from where Mariko, and now one shouting little Komoriuta, had landed. It's eerie candle light spilling from the windows was enough indication that the unknown building was inhabited by whatever denizen called this place home.

"M-m... Mr. Nowd?"

There was no answer from the super awesome pirate she clung to so desperately, and it wasn't until upon further inspection of the leg she grasped that she realized it wasn't him at all. Reeling back in shock she gasped, falling to the ground on her rear, staring at the wooden leg in disbelief. I-itchy Bah! Mr. Nowd is-" She looked around, hoping to cling to the real body of her new friend, who was no where in sight. Mariko remained on the ground, sitting on her legs and whipping her head around frantically for any signs of life. The thunderous booming of her rapid heartbeat filled her ears, along the chorus of croaking frogs in the distance. She was coming to the realization that was all alone. In a strange place with spooky trees and a creepy house nearby. "H-hello..." A weak whimper, quite hopeless in its effort as the young girl knew no one would answer, and if they did... it would likely eat her too. Her imagination got the best of her, and the young blue haired girl curled into a fetal position, crying.

{ "Are you too lost, child?" }

The deep voice startled her tiny body into a violent lurch, her crying only growing louder, shaking as her body quivered in fear. "Mr. Nowd, help me! Please! Itchy-Bah! La-Heel!" The large shadow loomed over her, but she didn't dare look behind her to see what it was. However it wouldn't take long for curiosity to take over, and from beneath her arm she peeked with her eye lacking the patch. It was big, hairy, bearing sharp teeth and piercing eyes... Mariko gasped aloud, curling tighter into her little ball. "I don't know how I got here! A pumpkin did it... P-please don't eat me. Please..." Her words slightly incoherent due to her crying, once she finished, her crying continued full force, violent shuddering taking over her frame.

As the girl cried louder when Tenshi had spoken her, Komoriuta wasn't sure to feel pity for the girl or not. She became quiet. Should she console her? She had her own problems too! For a moment, the little girl paused then sigh, "You scared her, you dumdum." With that, Komoriuta stood in front of the girl, We got here by a pumpkin too. It fell from the sky." Then she sat down by the girl, wrap her arms around her and pulled her into a hug. "It's okay. Dumdum is named Tenshi. I'm Komoriuta but you can call me Komo." She hoped that this will help ease the girl's crying. Tenshi had more time to look around. He took a few steps back first so the stranger can feel a bit more comfortable as he sat down by them. His golden hues glanced around to where they are and he sees a house. Maybe there was help here? He wouldn't take a chance on it. Surely, that lady they met at the gates would know they were missing and send help? Nah. She would assume they ran away. Perhaps, someone would be missing this little girl? Yea. The latter makes more sense. This little girl can be their ticket for their way out of here.

Like a light switch, Mariko's crying and cowering stopped immediately upon hearing the voice of a little girl. Rather, a girl around her age from what she could tell. Mariko uncurled from her ball, assuming a sitting position on her knees, looking at the girl with the remaining tears streaming down her face. Blue hair, golden eyes, and a face full of freckles. Komo, as she preferred to be called, explained that she and 'dumdum' also ended up here by a pumpkin falling from the sky. She allowed Komo to hug her, despite being a complete stranger. Mariko was actually more relieved to have someone else with her, and therefore felt safer than she did moments ago. Hugging Komoriuta back, she wiped the last falling tears from her eyes, smiling to Komo.

"Hi! I'm Mariko... you can call me Koko!" She liked the idea of having cute nicknames, and the mere thought of it was beginning to brighten her mood already. She then turned to the massive beast dubbed as 'dumdum'. He looked like a big lion, now that she was viewing him more properly. Definitely not as scary as before, while also appearing to have some sort of companionship with Komoriuta. Perhaps this was her pet? "It's not very nice to call people dumdum, Komo..." Referring to Komo's nickname for Tenshi. Only having heard the word used negatively, she wasn't sure if Komo meant it endearingly or not. Regardless, it was a 'bad word' in her book. "Is he your pet?" She'd gently remove herself from Komo's embrace, her eyes fixated on the beast in pure curiosity as she approached.

Standing three feet from it, she looked back to Komo, then the beast, and finally the house in the distance. "Hi, Tenshi... She was holding back every urge to pet him, mostly out of fear that he'd react aggressively. Mariko would give him a shy wave instead, turning back to Komo. "We need to get back to La-Heel somehow... There's a house down there. Maybe whoever lives there might help us." She'd stare at the house timidly, "B-but only if we go together. I heard there are sometimes scary people who live in houses like these..." Mariko hoped the two would agree to investigate the mysterious house with her. She definitely had no intentions of going on her own.

As the other girl didn't do anything, Tenshi relaxed. She must be an actual real little girl. He noticed that she turned on a switch when Komo had started talking but didn't say anything. He had made few people scream, run, cry, or even all of the above. Komo was pleased that Mariko started to feel better as she smiled, missing her two front teeth at the moment. There was new adult teeth and they were peeking out. Komo giggled and rolled her eyes at Koko's comment of calling Tenshi dumdum. "It's my nickname for him! He knows! He okay! Right, dumdum?" She smiled as Tenshi just simply did a trilling purr towards his owner. Komo frowned slightly as she gently pulls away from the hug once they were more comfortable a bit despite being in a scary and spooky place. "I dunno. I do know we bond and we be together forever!" Komo smiled softly. Her mind was forgotten about her parents for now. Komo stood up as Koko went to meet Tenshi. As she waved, the massive beast bowed his head towards her as if a bit of a bowl. Komo blinked towards the girl, "La-heel?" She questioned, confused, had never heard of her name. When they met the Hokage, she placed them under the genjutsu and sent them on their way before their emotions had returned. Tenshi growled softly at the idea of them going into the house. His golden hues glanced around and he realizes that he may not have a chance. "Get on." He said as he laid down on the swamp but even laying down, it was going to be quite the climb for little girls. "Here! I show you!" She remembered how many days it took her to climb onto Tenshi. It was going to be uncomfortable for the Foo Dog but he got quite used to it. As she stood by his side, Tenshi had his front leg out a bit. She hopped onto his front leg, her foot resting on the side of his leg as she grasp his mane and pulled herself up, grabbing another chunk of his mane and continued until she got onto his back, "When you grab his hair, make sure you grab a thick amount or too little hurt him." Komo explained as she then turned to lay on her belly, her hands outstretched for Koko to take, "Come on!"

"Oh." A confused expression formed on the little girl's face. She just couldn't wrap her head around nicknaming someone a word she considered bad. Tenshi appeared to like it, so she didn't make a fuss about it. If the two were bonded as close as Komo claimed, then it was something solely between the two.

"Yea! La-Heel!" The mere mention of her idol's name raised her spirits even more. "She's the super cool teacher with white hair, and likes using Genjutsu stuff sometimes... It's not funny, but I forgive her!" Giggling, she turned to the large beast as he spoke, insisting the girls get on his back. For such a large, somewhat scary-looking beast, Tenshi sure was sweet. Mariko was even surprised that he was allowing her to climb on his back, aside from his partner Komo. "Got it... O-okay!" Mariko said with a nod, watching Komo's movements carefully as she climbed onto the beast by grabbing tufts of his hair for support. Approaching to give the climb a go herself, she carefully took a handful of hair, gripping it hard enough to pull herself up partially. With the other she'd reach out for Komo's hands, climbing up the rest of the way with her new acquaintance's support.

"Wow, he's so soft!" As she sat comfortably on the beast's back, she gently ran a hand through his fur, "Do you fall asleep on his back sometimes? His fur would be an awesome bed, yea!?"

When Mariko described the La-heel person, Tenshi felt a little annoyed. It seems that the woman was known for going around and forcing people to feel emotions that weren't theirs. Was she someone to avoid negative emotions? By the second, Tenshi was starting to develop a dislike of the woman but right now they had more pressing matters and even if it means going to find this white-haired female. Komo felt Koko's hand as she gently pull her up without falling on the other side. Once Koko was behind Komo and fully seated, she mentioned about his soft fur and him being a bed. With a toothless grin, "Yea! Sometimes I do sleep on him. We travel all the time! So mom, dad, and-" She cut off, suddenly sad, scared, and worried. "Keep quiet. Tell me if see something." He asked the girls so he can keep an ear out. With that, he slowly made his way towards the hut. His ears twitching in different angles. All he could hear was the girl's breathing. With that, his golden head easily looked over the window as he looked in. All he saw was a candle. He dislikes this. He wanted to run. At the front door now, his front paw raised as he pushed open the door that would open if it wasn't closed all the way.

One great paw pushing in the door would reveal that the hut was indeed open and doing so, even from a slightest kiss of the wind, made the wood creak something terrible. It was enough that Tenshi might have of feared that he awoke whatever was sleeping inside, for at the same moment he did so there was a terrible explosion. Green gas replaced the candle as the now only source of light, having blown out the candle, and in this new fog one could see the hunchbacked form of someone stirring inside. The hunched creature made no moves to the doorway however, likely it was because that whoever it they were too busy torturing the the man who lie hanging upside down in chains beside her. A few mumbled grunts and the hut's owner shuffled their way over to some stairs in the opposite corner of the room before disappearing entirely. The man, who Tenshi would now notice as missing a leg, being left alone in his bound and gagged misery.

Tenshi's body lowered down to the ground as the door opened faster than he thought. It didn't help with the sound of the loud noise as he paused and ready. He took a few steps back seeing the green gas and figured that it wasn't staff and saw the hunched creature. He paused and waited for movement. None came. The creature seemed to perhaps not noticed them. The creature had moved away as he can see the bound and gagged man. Normally, Tenshi would hop to help rescue him as he took few steps back but was appalled as seeing the blue-haired girl was already up against the wall and getting close to the man. He took a step forward but froze, he figured with his weight, he might accidentally make too much noise. Lifted one paw, he waved at Komo. She did the 'what' gesture. He pointed down to the floor in front of him as if saying come here. Instead, her head turned towards the upside-down man as she tried to see where the chains were so she could let him down.

After climbing onto Tenshi's back, the massive beast guided them to the creepy hut within the swamp. Mariko could feel her heart racing as the neared it, fearful of the scary things that could be inside. At the same time, the little girl couldn't ignore the strong curiosity compelling her to stay with the two, in order to find out just what was living there. Up until he opened the door, Mariko buried herself into Tenshi's fur, with only her head peaking up, watching in anticipation.

A brief moment of light, followed by fog and darkness. Mariko gasped aloud as she saw the hunched silhouette of a creature hurry out of sight. "I-it's a monster!" She cried out in a hushed tone, clinging tightly to the beast's fur. A few moments of silence passed when Mariko perked her head up, spotting Komo venturing further into the house despite Tenshi's protests. The young girl spotted the man hanging upside down, which appeared to be where Komo was headed. Regardless of her fear for the place, Mariko didn't want her new friend to venture in alone, and hurried to her side. "It's dark in here... Hello?" She called out, staying close to Komo's side, but making sure to keep a notable path to the door should she need to bolt out. So long as she could feel Komo, Mariko felt she was safe enough, but began moving her hands around to make sure they didn't run into anything or possibly find another source of light.

With each step the pair took into the house it's eeriness seemed to multiply tenfold. Jars that were once obscured from the view of the doorway now revealed to hold alien creatures, and in some cases human eyeballs. One in particular would swivel in it's liquid prison and focus it's pupil directly on Mariko. Despite it's leery gaze however, it's powers were only limited in the fear it may cause.

Meanwhile as they neared the chained man a groan could be heard emitting from his shadowed form. Just what horrors would a strange witch creature feel the need to have to keep chained in her home? Was it dangerous? Should two children even be walking right up to it without a plan?! Another groaned escaped from it's lips only this time it was clear that it was fully awakening from it's stupor.

Slowly the chains would wobble back and forth as the humanoid tried to turn but found the actions impossible. Once it found that it couldn't the form would grow sudden and more violent in an attempt to free itself. Assuming that by now the children were still solid in their advance, they would slowly see the chained man twist itself to face them directly. It's grizzly face revealed to be furious in the dimly light and would likely inspire fear in anyone who looked at it... save for perhaps Mariko? Despite his worse for wear treatment that grizzled face could still be recognized as the pirate captain Noud.

As soon as the Jounin set on eyes on one of his students, the man's movements became more frantic. Uselessly he would struggle to free himself from the gag in his mouth.

Komo nearly jumped out of her skin when Koko was right by her too. Her hand went over to her mouth as she shook her head. "Shh, doesn't anyone teach you that you must be quiet in places like this? She questioned, her voice was so quiet and so low that only Koko can hear her. Even Tenshi with his hearing, wouldn't hear her. Hmm. They needed to get the man down but how? The young girl came up with a plan. In fact, it was the same plan that her own parents did to her. But unlike them, she wasn't going to leave Koko. She was going to come back after some time and grab them. Her eyes darted to Tenshi as she made sure that he was big enough to carry the man. "Okay. Stay here and figure out how to get him down." She gently pushed Koko up against the wall in the corner where she would be out of sight. Komo got towards Tenshi as he grabbed her by the nape of the neck, not knowing what stunt this child was going to pull through, "LET'S GET OUT OF HERE! THAT THING WAS UGLY" Tenshi froze, he gave Koko an apologetic look as he was going have to leave her now. At the same time as Komo crawled onto his back, Tenshi started to run off "I SAW IT! IT WAS UGLY." She shouted back as they were now starting to run through the forest.
