Physical Description:
Prita processes a tan complexion. She has thick, dark brown hair, hanging around her head in loose ringlets, which help to pale her out and look a little more average in color, giving her a rather stunning look if she ever lets it down. Light but noticeable freckles cover a lining just under her eyes and across her nose. Prita keeps her hair tied into a long braid behind her. A rather thick reminder that she is indeed a female. Having reached her full growth at 16 standing only 5'1'' and weighing 140 pounds, she is rather average. Prita carries a very curvaceous figure with rather wide hips and chest with a narrower stomach.
High cheekbones and a set jawline, with thin rosy lips. Hazel eyes that seem to pop out are the first noticeable features of the young woman, and she's rather glad. Her bright, warm eyes help to draw the attention of whoever she is speaking to. Directly to her eyes instead of them wandering in places, she prefers them not to be. Her fingers and several parts of her hands are calloused due to her years of general training to be a Candidate. When she does speak, however, her voice is soft, quiet as if she sings with every word. A slightly feminine beauty she has trained to use for her advantage.
She favors wearing shirts with long bell-like sleeves. Her favorite being a long green shirt with bell-like sleeves with the wing of a dragon sewn into the top right corner of her blouse - quite the treat after she finally somewhat mastered the use of a needle and thread. Her pants are otherwise rather ordinary, ranging from blue to brown, whatever the mood fits.
Personality:
Given the proper encouragement, Prita reveals a wickedly sharp mind and a drive to succeed. Her reading comprehension is higher than the average girl her own age; she has a mind like a sponge for mathematical formulas and navigation. She handles concrete concepts that can be proven a lot better than abstract concepts--it's hard for her to explain why she thinks an action was right, morally, but much more comfortable for her to elucidate on why there are seasons. Her intelligence, though, is very academic. She knows very little about how to interact with other people, and probably couldn't guess your favorite color if you wore it every day.
While growing up has taught her she can't rely on anyone, there is one person in this whole world that Prita knows she can lean on, and that's her to be a companion. Most people aren't her dragon, so she doesn't trust them, and because of that, she's gotten really, really good at independent work and observation. Often, she'll work harder than she has to ensure that if someone else fails her, she'll be able to cover up their mistakes. She displays an almost obsessive need to take care of herself because she doesn't like charity or being pitied. She isn't one to hesitate to volunteer to help around the Weyr doing chores such as cleaning the chalkboards or delivering items, changing the glows. Not only does it net her attention from authority figures, but it also means she knows everything is being done right. Prita doesn't ask for help when she's having a tough day or a tough fight and insists on being able to do everything herself. When she can't provide for herself, she feels horribly guilty and embarrassed for whatever she cost the other person.
One thing Prita learned very, very fast was that you had to follow the Rules. If you followed the rules, everything would be okay, and nobody would get hurt. It's sporadic for her to disobey a set rule, especially if she's told it's for her protection, and she seldom disobeys an authority figure's direct order--not because she trusts them, but because of her fears of the consequences if she doesn't. She is the kind of child that parents hold up to others as an example to be followed.
Superficially, Prita is childish in that she dearly wants to play board games and tag and have sleepovers and be as loud as she wants whenever she wants. Realistically, Prita wants attention, good or bad; she doesn't know how to go about getting it, except by acting out in small ways like refusing to make her bed or leaving a little mess of old homework on her desk. It's not in her nature to get up on a table and declare everything sucks. Nor will she pull another girl's hair or take her things--but she will wait outside a door for anyone to notice her or sell out another candidate who's broken the rules to just to get a pat on the head. Prita takes any kind of attention, but she thrives off approval and will do almost anything to get it.
Prita also takes criticism very poorly. Very, very poorly: She doesn't know how to interact with people and always feels like the slightest comment about her appearance or her possessions, or her homework is a grave, abiding personal insult. Even off-handed comments like "You look nice today" will be obsessively dissected. Does that mean she doesn't look nice any other day? Does it say she looks nicer than usual? What are they comparing her to? Because she's so sensitive as to how others view her, she rarely talks about her home life or her family or herself at all; Prita would rather listen to you speak because if she doesn't say anything, you can't judge her.
Her worldview is so polluted by the way she was raised--stay out of everyone's way, stay quiet, don't draw attention to you no matter what you do--that she can't look past the bad parts of her life to see the possibility of a good future or even the right parts of the present. She can't see the light at the end of the tunnel because she won't look--and if she chose to, Prita probably wouldn't believe what she saw was real.
Prita enjoys some hobbies despite her strange outlook on the world. She is fascinated by flowers and plants that grow around her and will often go out of her way to collect them. She has a soft spot for tiny critters of all sizes and will do all she can to lead small bugs from the house instead of killing them. This often leads to people staring at her, and many whispering behind her back. This has led her into the steep path of a healer, and she adores her studies.

History:
Prita was conceived and born to High Reaches Weyr to a pair of Dragonriders during a green's flight, Prita was fostered at an early age to a lower caverns worker, and spent much of her childhood wasting time with either her foster mother or the creche, often poking her way into what her age-mates were doing and attempting to bring any trouble being made to the attention of nearby adults. She wasn't quick to earn her any friends, however, and it took a few rough lessons for her to grow out of her tattletale stage.
Prita didn't have much contact with her birth mother growing up, but this never really bothered her - she had her foster mother and felt perfectly loved and secure. If her birth mother didn't spend much time with her, then it was merely because they were all too busy. There was rarely a time when she couldn't find something to do or to learn, and if she got underfoot a little in the caverns or too near a particularly grumpy dragon, well, she got to be quick about getting back out of the way.
Like most weyrbrats, Prita hoped to be allowed to Stand, if not Impress, and now she finally has been given that chance and plans to use it to her advantage. Besides, there's a lot more to learn now that she's a Candidate!
Other: Can read and write. Has a great love for nature, and enjoys studying flowers and other plants. She loves to sing, but she can't. Don't let her. Her voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard when singing.
