Valeska is a small girl for her age at 5' tall and has a rather slim build. But looks can be deceiving. She’s actually quite strong, conditioned by the ocean where she works with her father. She has long, waving blonde hair constantly constantly braided and out of her way. Her eye are brown and soft, mismatching the serious and unrelenting outlook she has on life.
Personality:
Valeska has a very matter-of-fact outlook on life. Despite that, she never intentionally looks bored or solemn but she ends give off that kind of vibe regardless. Perhaps it’s because of how self-conscious she tends to be. Every expression is laced with a nervous undertone as though she wants to make sure she’s reacting correctly to situations. In her heart she wants to be sincere, but she is afraid of rejection. As a result, she overall despises attracting any attention whatsoever and tends to be that person in the back corning shying away from the spotlight. However, she's is a perfectionist and a hard worker, being accustomed to it, and prides herself on getting the job done and getting it done well.
She has a particular empathy for the underdog, and has found that people often come to her for help or comfort. Valeska more easily opens up to needing help and gives an awkward smile that you couldn’t but smile with. Some would say she's quiet, others would call her a thinker, and she’s both and so much more. She is actually someone worth getting to know because she has the potential to be a loyal friend.

History:
Valeska has spent all her life at the High Reaches Hold. As a fisherman's daughter, she's worked hard for as long as she can remember. She never really excelled in any area besides the menial work of fishing with her father's group. All she's ever desired was to get out of her monotonous life, but at the same time she felt valued in her own way being a needed member of the crew. Having been somewhat isolated from other children she found she had nothing in common with them.
Everyone was extremely surprised when the searchrider singled her out, and in perhaps the only spontaneous move of her life Valeska agreed to be a candidate. Valeska holds hopes that the next hatching might be an opportunity to do something meaningful, and the new adventure she so sorely desired.

I'm going to approve Valeska but just want to note that she likely did spend some time around children. The Holds do have creches to care for children, and Harpers in which for the hold children to learn their Teaching Songs and basic education.

Given she's from HIgh Reaches Hold (or at least in High Reaches Hold territory) she would have had access to that. Additionally, while she might have done a lot of fishing, there were some Turns there that she wouldn't have been allowed on the boat or sent out to assist--in which case she would have been doing other tasks, or been looked after by others.

It's certainly plausible that as she aged and became able to take on a craft (around Turn 10 or so) she probably was allowed to go out to sea with them, isolating her even more. And of course she had probably been learning about fishing and how to fish from her Father even younger. Just a small note, that's all, since I couldn't tell if her isolation was purely because she lived on the water or what. :3
