Physical Description:
Slender and petite, Korui tops 5'4 on a good day. Disciplined and intense training has brought muscle to her soft figure, but it is not especially noticeable; unlike her twin, she never shed her doll-like, innocent air, even as an adult rider.
With dark skin- black, in some light- and long, thick hair woven from a moonless night, Koruika is strikingly beautiful in her own way. An oval-shaped face, heart-shaped lips and a rounded, button nose enhances her gentle aura; what draws attention are her sparkling violet eyes, reflective of her every emotion.
Koruika doesn't enjoy standing out, but will allow her sister to play dress-up when the situation calls for it. She treasures a collection of ribbons that she uses to adorn her hair: gifts from her family (especially her sister) over the Turns. Otherwise, her dress sense is practical, in pale shades that complement her skin tone. Following a childhood accident involving a feline, Korui has three long scars on her left leg, trailing from slightly above her knee to near her ankle. Self-conscious, she hides them as much as she can. A threadscore- to the very same knee- has left her with a slight limp, made worse on colder days and after long periods of exercise and activity.
Personality:
A soft and sweet-natured young woman, Koruika is a shy, gentle soul with a deep love for her family. A well-intentioned, determined streak hides beneath her meekness: Korui is a wellspring of strength and devotion, shaped by constant worrying and fear of that which remains beyond her control.
A wonderfully empathic and caring individual, Koruika is guided and influenced by her emotions, but crippled by her chronic shyness. She has a difficult time expressing herself around strangers, which is unfortunate as she makes a splendid friend and confidant (especially in times of great need). She is sensitive to the moods of others, intuitive and perceptive of their feelings and needs. Around the familiar faces of her family, she is a little more forwards and demonstrative, though Korui still finds it difficult to speak her mind clearly and concisely. If forced to speak around those she does not know well, it is normally in a hushed murmur, with long pauses and the occasional stammer. Around her family, there is no sign of a stammer, and though she is still quiet she can very occasionally raise her voice.
Koruika cuts a reliable figure amongst riders- known in weyrlinghood for her ability to persevere despite the odds and her seeming-fragility. She is dependable, and will make good on any promise or word she gives. She is excellent at keeping secrets, not only due to her reluctance to speak, but because she knows the weight of them, and it is important to her that others are able to trust her completely. She will not forsake her bonds of friendship or duty, even if she appears timid or timorous at the best of times. From this stems her strength, her inner resilience and fire. Her personal resolve is made of iron.
Of love and romance, Koruika has a secret passion for the traditional courtships of the fanciful Harper ballads. She is the type of young woman to painfully crush and pine from afar, unable to make the first move out of fear that she might be rejected. However, she struggles being approached due to her shyness. It’s not the easiest topic in the world to think about- consequently, she tries not to dwell on her (non-existent) love-life too much.
On the other hand, love is not a difficult thing for the young woman to express towards her family: she is extremely attached to her siblings and parents, loyal to a fault even when it might endanger her. Very rarely has she ever expressed anything but affection towards her nearest and dearest, and she carries each and every one of them- especially her twin, Nuamia- very tightly in her heart. One day she dreams of having her own family to raise- but that hinges on her being brave enough to face her romantic life. She has come to rely on every person of her family in one way or another, and the foundations of her strength derive from her love for them.
Despite being guided by her emotions, Koruika is an anxious woman who worries overly much about pretty much everything. Even mundane, everyday tasks are over-analysed with a degree of fretfulness: why, running laps around the weyrbowl might cause you to trip, so make sure you keep a look out for the more slippery paths and avoid them… and to say nothing of those wild adventures she is sometimes roped into going on with her twin! Korui has probably become overly vigilant in regards to safety and health as a result of her childhood, left to wonder when the next catastrophe will befall them. There is nothing in the world she hates more than being placed in a situation which is outside of her control; bonus awful points if there are unpredictable conditions attached to said situation. Threadfall might very well be the bane of her existence, and not just because it destroys everything it touches…
Still, despite her fears and worries, Koruika understands her duty and is a responsible, if overwrought, rider. She endeavours to do her best so she doesn’t disappoint anyone, and lives in fear of the day she makes a wrong decision that causes her dragon or her loved ones to be hurt. Hopefully it never comes to pass.

History:
Born sixth out of seven siblings, Koruika grew up in a very large family alongside her twin sister Nuamia. Her parents, Nuarok and Koruimia, were a baker and a cook respectively, and had already had five sons; they were busy folks, with their weyrfolk duties, and the newborn girls were left in the care of their older siblings, or the creche. Koruika was a quiet child who very rarely fussed, and spent most of her time by Nua’s side. They were extremely close, and Korui loved all of her family very dearly.
Koruika tended towards being reclusive, unlike her twin, who was the more outspoken of the two. Korui’s naturally silent tendencies seemed to enable Nuamia- she was the mind behind the shenanigans, whereas Korui was the reluctant accomplice. During chores, Koruika was a diligent and mindful worker, preferring to do her work without any extra awkward attention. Nuamia handled that without even realising it: the youngest had a penchant for chatter that took all the social stress and pressure off of Korui’s shoulders.
The pair did get into trouble on more than one occasion, especially on some of Nuamia’s so-called ‘adventures’. The worst was one they had at the age of twelve. Nua had found a way to slip out of the Weyr unnoticed, and had promised Korui that all would be well on their pretend hunt for felines… of course, they became the prey. Not knowing what to do, and heart hammering away with a fierce need to keep her sister safe, Korui reached out mentally to one of her brother’s dragons and screamed for help. Fortunately, their rider siblings were out looking for the missing twins, and help came quickly.
The event scarred Koruika in more ways than one: the feline had left deep gashes down her leg, leaving her even more self-conscious and awkward about herself as a person. And the mental wounds caused a rush of turbulent emotions- she scolded Nuamia for the first time in her life, angry at her recklessness and thoughtlessness! Then, overcome by tears and fear that she would lose her twin, Korui sat down with Nua and had a heart-to-heart. The pair decided to devise a set of signals to improve communication, enabling Korui to forewarn her sister when Nua’s plans might have dire consequences, without the shackles of timidity weighing her down. It was important to Koruika that she could safely express her fears and worries when she felt Nuamia was struggling to manage her impulses, and to help teach her twin about boundaries and limitations.
It was a good thing she was performing so well at lessons, for the harpers had seen potential in her as an archivist, and she was ushered into a quiet and calming place to pursue a career in becoming a harper. Working so hard and well seemed to do her some good confidence-wise, and when she turned fourteen she agreed to Stand alongside her twin. Unlike Nua, she didn’t have much hope- what dragon would want such a meek and shy girl, especially standing beside the bright Nuamia? Of course, she continued to Stand without letting disappointment get the better of her. Spending time with Nua was worth it, in her opinion.
Pern was thrown into chaos with the arrival of Thread, and mass destruction ensued. Koruika was terrified to her core, and sought comfort in her sister’s presence and kindness. Western Weyr was somewhat well protected by their fighting force, but many other places suffered. It made Standing even more important, and yet she was filled by fear at the thought of becoming a dragonrider.
Life for Korui changed about three Turns ago, when a white broke the shell. It was an energetic and excitable creature, bouncing about without a care in the world. If ever there was a dragon who embodied Nua’s spirit, here it was, Korui thought to herself. After a little bit of exploring and play, the small baby wandered towards the pair, peering up at them… Yes… of course, it could only be…
Well, your sister is lovely, but Koruika... you are the one for me! I am your Orokath, and together we are going to have so much fun!
Koruika thought she was going to faint at the sound of that chipper, cheeky voice. The blood drained from her face, and she knelt down, heart surging with love for the tiny hatchling. Impossible… “Orokath…” She croaked, before wrapping her arms around him. She picked him up, hands trembling… “Nua… this is… Orokath…” She whispered, the effects of Impression warring with the sad realisation that no dragon was waiting for her twin. Nua would be alone.
Orokath should have been… Nua’s... really… That thought haunted her for a long part of weyrlinghood, despite Orokath’s reassurances that she was perfect just the way she was. Being separated from her twin left her feeling uncertain and unconfident; oh how she wished the two of them could have Impressed together! All throughout their training, Orokath kept them busy and motivated, and Korui learnt a rider’s discipline with a fun-loving and wonderful partner. His positivity kept her striving for better, even when she sometimes yearned to give up.
One Fall, sometime after graduation, Koruika was injured by Thread. A clump wrapped itself around her knee and slopped down Oro’s side; without Orokath’s quick thinking, she might have lost the limb entirely. As it was, there was permanent damage to her knee- a big, twisted scar was added to the long feline gashes of old. To this day, Korui still walks with a slight limp, favouring her left leg. Threadfall is still a great source of stress for the young woman, and she may require assistance or extra support from her wingmates.

Physical Description:
A rather large and nimble white, Orokath is a bundle of energy. He is a handsome creature, striated and striking. What he lacks in endurance he makes up for with vivacity and an unwavering spirit.
Personality:
A bundle of positive energy, Orokath is an effervescent whirlwind of delight and exuberance. He doesn't come with a stop button unfortunately, but that seems to be okay for him and his rider.
Naive to the point of being downright foolish, Orokath is very much the go-with-the-flow, let's see what happens type. He has no foresight, and gives very little thought to his words or actions. It's a good thing that he's such a pure, happy-go-lucky, incorruptible little soul, because he only very rarely crosses a line or speaks inappropriately. He possesses just ridiculous amounts of bubbly goofiness and optimism, which sees him through the worst of life.
Adventure is his calling- each new day comes with a chance to see or try something new. He can be reckless- needing a firm hand to remind him that Consequences are a real thing. In Fall he is driven and passionate, but will overexert himself without the disciplined training of his rider, his wingmates and leaders.
Flights are a joy to behold, and even though he lacks the drive to participate, he longs for a companion of his own. Orokath is a sweetheart and makes a sweet, if silly partner to any who would favour him with their company.
