Ah, did it warm his heart that the cephalopods had reach extending past even their old blood pacts. Yet the jealousy could not be denied. He was a bit somewhat jealous that he was not the first. Had it not been for the events that unfurled he'd have no doubt headed to the summoning lands himself sooner. If Toso was to make something of himself he needed something in which he could rely on that was not Saiken. That much became evident with Saiken having saved him in the crows dreary realm.

Usagi was elated to be out and about: there was something about putting off work that made Hanguri Gulf so much more fun and relaxing. The salty air, the cool surf, the absolute freedom to do what she wanted! And not a care in the world except for the knowledge that she had a mountain of paperwork back home. “C’mon grease gang, try and keep up!” The woman laughed as she turned to glance behind her. Three squids, all the size of a small human, were right behind her. They were moving like torpedoes under the surface, each kicking up their own wake of waves.
“Youse gots a headstart, ‘Sagi!” One of them yelled out, his voice blubbering beneath the waves. Usagi loved the Gang Orthos, they were the most fun to be around. Partly because, like her, they didn’t think too hard about doing stuff. So the four of them tended to just do whatever they wanted. The Kage just laughed and flipped back onto the squid that spoke, Fonz. She knelt down and reached out to the other two: Otto and Regi. “Then do the turbo boost! Let’s gooooo!” She cheered, which was followed by an enthusiastic cheer from the three squids. The jet streams of water from the three creatures suddenly increased a hundredfold as all four idiots shot through the water at rocket speeds! Usagi let out a cry of excitement and thrill as they blasted through the water at speeds that were unable to really be controlled. Which is why, pretty soon after, the four of them found themselves on a crash course to dry land!
The Gang Orthos crashed onto the shore, sliding dozens of feet into the sand before coming to a hard stop. Usagi, who was not prepared, was physically launched off of Fonz and came crashing face down into the sand. The woman managed to pick her sand coated body of the ground, sputtering any earthy grains from her mouth as she did. It wasn’t until she was back on her feet did she finally notice the man less than a few feet away from her and the Gang. “Oh, uhhhhh.” The Kage was embarrassed to be seen out here, especially when she was supposed to be working. Quick, Usagi, think of an excuse! A good one! A proper Kage answer!“Hi.”
~Current Theme Music~:Inversions of Hope "Hi indeed bloop. Need a hand...or perchance a tentacle?" Toso would be looking down at Usagi from his perspective in a half bow. As such one of the Hojo's tentacles creeped out of his back and offered a hand in assistance. Although it might have been a bit off putting that the tentacle possessed a mouth with teeth. Warranting some suspicion if not paranoia. This would be dismissed rather quickly however as Otto would be the next to recover with Otto raising his pointed cone head first out from the sand. "Ayyyyyyy its the T-man. Yo, Reg , Fonzy cones up boys its The T-man." The two recovered and practically what could be considered a crude form of slithering occurred as they got closer. There was a reason they typically didn't stay grounded. Even then though their shells were so darn long it compensated for the distance they'd had to have walked. "Slap us some shell T." - "Ay Otty move it I'm walkin ere." The Gang Ortho's as they called themselves all proceeded to bend their cones as they proceeded to 'slap some shell' with their home-slice. This was the closest thing to a high-five that they could accomplish. That said any reservations about Toso's trustworthiness could probably be dismissed. "You know who dis is Sagi? Better get ta knowing cause he's T is a kage fella jus like ya."
There was a moment of juxtaposition. One kage looking particularly strapping and debonair if not highly professional with the other well...in more casual clothing and dripping of sea and sand all over. "Ah, bloop, so you're a fellow shadow are you? Well now it's making more and more sense how you were able to sway that old headstrong cephalopod bloop." Whether Usagi accepted his aid or not he'd introduce himself formally. "I am Tosokurui Ashikoki Hojo, Kage of Arashigakure and it has come to my knowledge that you mayhaps are the 'air-headed girl' that Yami spoke of in current possession of their contract being classified as the first of the next line of sages bloop." He would quote Yami's words with air quotes implying Yami's words not his with a smile on his face. Toso's full name was a interesting one. He often opted to omit the koki(strong) from his full name. Not because he believed he was weak the name Ashikoki(strong limb) was one his father and family were proud of but they weren't privy on the slang definition. Whether or not Usagi new that slang definition could potentially affect first impressions.
His introduction completed he didn't want to waste her time, that time of 'fun' it seemed. That was a rarity for someone of her title. He would know, they shared that title. "Right to the point, perchance you could grace me with some tutelage in the sage arts and accept me into the fold bloop. Having beaten me to the punch I can only imagine you're quite the competent individual." Otto chimed in with "You snooze you lose T.""Well you know, maintaining a village is quite the time consu...""Ye ye can it T-man Sagi o'oer ere been finishin all her work an avin time ta visit. Ain't that right Sagi." Regi would say praising Usagi under the belief of false pretenses that she had done everything she needed to do before joining the gang for a quality style romp in the rapids. Toso was briefly taken aback by Regi's chastising but all in all he looked to the girl with a belief that she was even more competent and capable than he had initially believed. tab“The old kraken would say that, wouldn’t he…” Usagi mumbled off to the side, with a look of minor annoyance like one would give a family member. Ika-Yami got on Usagi’s nerves with the way he was so uptight, but she did love him. The woman was nudged by Reg’s shell as he praised her to the stranger. “Oh yeah, totally for sure.” She answered with a nervous chuckle. “Hey why don’t you three go for a swim?”
“Awh, ‘Sagi we wanna hang with our T-Man!” Otty groaned.
“Don’t worry, we’ll catch up with you.” Usagi replied by patting Otty on the shell. The exchange was almost sibling-like in its nature. The Gang Orthos cheered at the promise of more playing and scuttled off to the bay again. When they were gone Usagi turned her attention back to Tosokurui. At a glance she could tell he held himself with dignity and class. Much like when she’d met Lahil, Usagi could feel the air of what it meant to be a Kage radiating from the Hojo. Even without her sensory abilities she could tell he was strong, with or without a Sage Mode.
Usagi took the extended tentacle as Tosokurui helped her up. The woman brushed any loose sand from her body before bowing deeply to the Arashikage. It was too deep for someone on equal social standing to give, like Usagi was a subordinate to the man. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Usagi Senjuzumaki Mikasa, the Third Tanikage. Welcome to Hanguri Bay.” Formalities weren’t Usagi’s strong suit, and as such she seemed kind of stiff.
She rose as the Arashikage began to talk about the sage arts. “Well, it helps that they pretty much raised me.” Usagi turned to look at the Gang Orthos out in the water. Her slightly nervous expression softened as she looked at the trio fondly. “They’re my family, which makes working together easy for us. Even if Ika-Yami gets on my nerves sometimes.” Usagi turned to look at Tosokurui again, a big smile on her face now. “So I’m sure someone like you with Hojo blood and that natural family connection can get it in no time!”
~Current Theme Music~:Inversions of Hope "Raised by the Daedalus family? I can only imagine how stressful that must have been bloop." Toso would say bearing in mind his own family. A family of four seemed exhausting enough 'but really that was due to the size of hut they lived in'. The penchant for familial escapades diverting into chaos only increased with the number of people and personalities. Toso was already imagining what the Daedalus family was like. Yami no doubt yelling loudly at the others to shut up while he was playing sea poker with Megalo. Horu and his hundreds if not thousands by now siblings zipping around, the orthos and their gangs causing undersea trouble, it was almost uncanny how basically each of the ortho groups adopted gang behavior. The Right Rapid Rippers, The White Water West Side, The Clips, The Blubz. Each one sporting some variant of gang culture but few would ever compare to the original Gang Orthos. Ah, and he could only imagine how difficult it would be to try and sleep with Theseus no doubt belting sea shanties for hours on end into the night.
Toso would shake his head to come out of the Daedalus family daydream and back to the present. "Right! Well now, Usagi Senjuzumaki Mikasa the pleasure is mine. So then what will be doing to go about this whole process. I am quite aware of the concept of nature chakra bloop. Question thus being how to and all that bloop. You are the teacher and I your humble pupil after all. Whatever method of lesson you've in your thoughts I'm more than ready and willing...so long as it isn't something perverse of course. bloobloobloop." Toso watched as the gang started doing what the gang does best. That being goofing off and breaching the waters before landing back into them like some kind of space debris. While Usagi seemed stiff the same could not be said for the Arashikage. In fact despite his formal tone of speech and what not he was actually well...quite casual in presentation. A mood set as if he were speaking to someone he'd spoken to before hundreds of times. The short end of it, if Usagi won the trust of the Daedalus family then she was awarded his trust.
"OH! If you don't mind! Allow me to limber up yes! I believe whats to come will no doubt be something profoundly thought out and strenuous bloop!" Toso would give Usagi an immensely large sum of credit. The pedestal he had placed her on in this sudden student teacher relationship was beyond significant. You would think with the two of them being classified as 'Kages' there would be a mutual belief in equivalent strength. After all one doesn't attain the title of 'kage' easily...but no. Very much like a genin school boy looking up to his jounin sensei did the Arashikage carry that whimsical enthusiasm. "I shall be right over there bloop." he pointed in a direction with a reserved smile glowing with friendliness before he began doing aerobic exercise down the stretch of beach.
Toso would manifest his other six limbs as they all began punching air. Each punch compressing the air in front of him and causing the waves to slightly part from the pressure being released. A snapping sound like whip cracks with each extension. His body from the distance perspective was like someone made of rubber as his tentacle and arms literally stretched forwards with significant snaps. A scene like something from those sunset training montage videos from boxing movies. He'd wrap two limbs together and begin 'jumping rope' while the other limbs continued shadow boxing. As he wracked up a sweat, suddenly a loud exclamation of "WORK OUT MODE A GO GO HCHAA BLOOPACHA!" He was engulfed in a bright rainbow light like those found in those shoujou animes with magical girls when the light blinked back he was just in black undercoat and pants showing that he still had his physique from back in his younger years. The only other article of 'clothing' was a brooch of a squid on the undercoat. He may have seemed one of those scholarly bookish library dwellers but this body clearly reflected that he was still a man of martial prowess...of course this change also revealed just how much of a goof the man actually was. It takes some kind professional dweeb to announce without a trace of embarrassment some kind of magical girl sentai transformation ability...and yet despite that comforting thought and a dweeb he may be, he was at least by the look of things a fairly strong dweeb. Thusly dismissing doubts if there were any of him being a Kage.

tab“He’s… definitely a strange one.” Usagi muttered to herself after Toso started to walk away. Well, exercise away. He’s definitely an eccentric one, she had to give him that. But just what was he working with, Usagi had to wonder. From her spot on the beach, Usagi closed her eyes and sent her senses out to the man that would be her equal. At a first sensory glance, the Tanikage felt more at ease. His comparative chakra level was fairly close to, if not lower than hers. Considering her initial nervousness, it was nice to know that she could stand on equal ground with him in some regards.
However, much like the sea that Toso’s own bloodline felt at home, there was something more sinister below the depths of the eccentric surface. A darker, much more massive chakra bubbled up just contained beneath the surface. It dripped onto Usagi’s consciousness like a slime, cold and inhuman. It made Usagi’s skin crawl and she visibly shuddered, and her face took on a blue hue. It made her view the Arashikage in an entirely different light: one that merely clouded the man with more mystery than enlightenment.
But for the man Toso, himself… he was an odd one, but Usagi liked his style. She shook off the moment of sickness and marched on over to the man while he did his warmups. After merely a second of watching, Usagi started to mirror him! “HYAH!” She would exclaim with each punch forward. She would do that until Toso started literally glowing, forcing her to cover her eyes and take a step back. “That’s. So.” She started, staring at Toso’s transformed state in awe. Then her eyes lit up like stars as she beamed. “COOL! Lemme try! SUPER SAGE MOOOOODEE A-GO GO!”
Usagi slammed her fists together to initiate a much less dramatic transformation sequence. Blood red markings of tribal tendrils formed on her body, squirming down her arms and around her collar and torso. Her eyes shifted to blue-white orbs, surrounded by the same crimson eyeshadow. When she was done she beamed up to Toso. “And so we begin! So you already know about Nature Chakra, yeah?” Usagi tilted her head in thought. “So then you should know this is a perfect place to train with nature energy. The Land of Rivers, and Tanigakure specifically, have a stronger connection to nature than most other countries. In fact, most people don’t know this but, right here-” Usagi stomped her foot into the sand. “Hanguri Bay? Is actually a really strong center of Nature Chakra, since it combines aspects of the land, sea, and sky all at once.”
“So the first step of your training is!” Usagi made a handseal and a block of wood rose forth from the ground. As the sand poured from it, it was revealed to be big enough for Toso and Usagi to sit on. “Get comfy~ You’re going to start with expanding your senses~” Usagi tapped her temple as she spoke. “Since chakra flows all around us, trying to notice Nature Chakra without more finely tuned senses. You’re gonna wanna just try and find it first, but don’t do anything until you get more accustomed to sensing it. Trying to take it in without being ready can be deadly~” Usagi mocked slitting her throat with her thumb and rolled her eyes back. Then she grinned again. “But you’re gonna try look for… hmmm…. Ah! Like a pocket of pure water among the muck with your chakra senses.”
~Current Theme Music~:Inversions of Hope Toso found Usagi's eccentricities and ability to humor him endearing. "A true natural! bloop! Perhaps a future collaboration is in order!" caught somewhat by surprise from the sudden shifting of the ground he floundered a bit in a typical 'woah woah woah' fashion trying to maintain balance as the wooden platform rose beneath the sands. Indeed Toso knew about nature chakra and the consequences that came with its reckless use. Yet, he felt one hudred percent certain that this endeavor and training wouldn't be hard in the slightest. A piece of cake for a kage. He had tamed Saiken after all, quelled his heritage, how difficult could attuning himself to the natural world around him be? He had become a scholarly adept and academic, he several years of experience to back him and what's more he had what he believed to be a fine teacher who shared his cephalopodic passion.
"A pocket of pure water amidst the muck you say? bloop. Why. What's muck but water that has the potential to be pure water with the right amount of effort!" Toso would sit down. Crossed his legs closed his eyes. His sensory perceptions inherently picking up on his surroundings. Usagi seemed like a nice woman. Wait didn't Usagi mean rabbit? This derailed his thought process. Usagi's body was far from rabbit like. In fact he'd likely categorize it on the spectrum of hourglass like...or voluptuous? No, no, that wasn't right. Voluptuous typically implied a kind of 'thickness'. Now Kameyo. She. She was voluptuous. Most certainly so...yet how could be make that judgement that Usagi wasn't voluptuous if he hadn't really seen the majority of her body. Specifically the thigh region. Now that was an area that deceived many a man . All things considered one could assume this train of thought Toso was locked in was on the subject of perverseness. Toso however, being the asexual individual he was however, was actually looking at this purely in a subjective manner like a mathematician crunches numbers trying to find the ideal word to use to describe Usagi's body and how it could correlate with being rabbit like. Maybe her legs were incredibly strong? Was she incredibly fast? Ah, perhaps her parents believed her to be cute like a rabbit at birth and this is why her name was chosen to be Usagi.
Yes this train of thought left Toso with his eyes closed and Usagi patiently looking at him wondering likely why for someone so skilled that something like this was taking quite awhile. Then Toso's train of thought shifted from Usagi's body to her personaility. "Ah, perhaps she has the mental acuity of a rabbit? An air of innocence?..or is it ignorance? PLAYFULLNESS! That must be it. Ah this must be what I'm looking for." Finally Toso having actually gotten his focus together after coming up with a conclusion to his train of thought after a good thirty or so minutes honed in on the traces of permeating nature chakra.
That said he got distracted again. "Oh now why did you go on and think about your wife. Now it's going to bother you. I was never around for Satoshi and now look at what he's become.." The former glow in the Arashikage's face as he meditated shifted. It had become more dower, or perhaps more serious. To Usagi it would likely look like he'd finally found his center...but really his mind was more distraught than ever. "Am I just going to do to Kameyo what I've done to Satoshi? I'm still never around as much as I'd like to be, I'm still so unerringly focused on the village. Can someone like me even have a functioning relationship...Yukina..Satoshi...Kameyo... Always putting them and my other relationships on the backburner. Should I be surprised that they burn? Even now. Rather than spending time with my wife or friends. I'm out here trying to further my strength to better serve not them but the village. I..the village in of itself is like a family to me but at the same time how am I supposed to choose! WHY DO I HAVE TO CHOOSE! ALL THESE YEARS HAVE JUST BEEN ENDLESS DECISION AFTER DECISION THE SHORT END OF THE STICK HAS TO GO TO SOMEBODY DOESN'T IT! WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE LOVED ONES EVERYTIME!...Perhaps I am better off just being alone in my devices. Despite reassurances. From Kameyo. From Myself. What do they mean if I can't put actions to words. Something concerning for a brief moment. Usagi would see a bit of the Arashikage's shoulder hardening. "To-kun! Enough with this self depreciation! Saiken would scold her host. The slight petrification forming cracked and fell off with a little intervention on their end. Yet this would also reveal to Usagi a strange flash of chakra that wasn't natural or the Arashikage's own. After all if sage petrification were so easy to remove on one's own there wouldn't have been any real need for an overseer and fellow sage. "I so desperately miss those days when I didn't have to make decisions Sai-chan. I was a simpler..happier man back then.""Only you are responsible for your own happiness To-kun. Whatever you decide. Even if your decision is indecision. I will be here.""I realize this its just...so frustrating." Toso's face turned into a scowl. In this moment Usagi would likely realize something was off...
The Arashikage's six extra limbs like snakes slinked out of his back. Each of them horrifically having mouths with sharp teeth. Sort of a juxtapoisiton to what was earlier an incredibly enthusiastic buoyant man. Toso himself too deep in meditation to realize that he was projecting his emotions again through them. Each of the mouths quietly muttering. "angry" --- "frustrating" --- "should just die" --- "simple" --- "sadness" ---"pain" --- "stress" --- "love her" --- "no choice" ---"Sato". Then they began to move erratically. Perhaps Usagi would realize with her sagemode. The Arashikage's tentacles...they were...tainted. Ebbing back and forth the chakra inside of it shifting from natural to unnatural. Along time ago corrupted nature chakra had found its way into Toso and like magnets rejecting each and attracting each other the two nature chakra tainted and untainted were having an unnatural reaction. They began to gnash. Like they were rabid. This wasn't petrification. This was something else. An air of danger surrounded the Arashikage and Usagi would be the first to know. How she responded to what could more than likely be these tentacles eventually going full hog wild was anyones guess but what was apparent is it seemed to be stemming from her pupil's emotional condition.
